Sakura closed her eyes, and simply focused on the sounds and the movements of the Trailmon, drowning out the rest of her environment. Or at least, the two blue Digimon on either side of her. Instead she wanted to focus on her own thoughts. After all the traveling they had done, Sakura hadn't had the time to reflect and try and make sense of-
"Hey! Are you meditating right now? Kirara was asking you a question!"
Sakura hadn't yet been able to make sense of her situation. The very first thing she remembered was being fused with Matsuri into the Guilmon that Hotaru had named Amethyst. After evolving to Megidramon and running out of strength, the pair of them had separated.
"She's not meditating! She's just sleeping! Or she's carsick and is trying not to throw up!"
Though how she and Matsuri had fused in the first place baffled her. It was one of many mysterious surrounding Sakura's foggy recollection. It was clear that she and everyone else that she had been accompanying had some kind of amnesia. Though the fact that so many of them were in a similar situation implied that it wasn't a coincidence. Someone must have-
"Ew! Gross! Sakura, you're the grossest! Isn't that right, Midori?"
"Eh? What? I don't think that's..."
"See? Midori agrees with Kirara!"
"But that's not what I s-"
Someone must have intentionally messed with all their memories... somehow. But the question of how was less important than the who and why. Not to mention what Sakura had forgotten. She was a Digimon, obviously, and she could remember a good deal of knowledge pertaining to the Digital World, and yet all her knowledge felt... secondhand.
"Hey, Midori! Let's move to another car! I don't wanna be here when Sakura barfs everywhere!"
"I don't think we need to worry about... Umm... Okay..."
"Hey wait up! We should play hide and seek or something! Miki! Elly! Let's go, too!"
There was the pitter-patter of various kinds of feet and footwear scattering off before there was peace and quiet. Which thankfully gave Sakura a better opportunity to get her thoughts organized. There were two main things that bothered her. The first was the circumstances of her Digital Signal, as well as the Digital Signal of her allies. For whatever reason she was particularly keen in sensing it, and there was something unusual about them. They seemed to wildly fluctuate for seemingly no reason. Almost like they were a Digimon... yet not.
Sakura took a deep breath as she opened her eyes to see her own hand in front of her. Or rather the hand of her holosuit. A petite girl with medium-length brown hair with the physique of a human child barely in her junior high years. And yet, Sakura just knew that this form was supposed to be older than that.
But why did Sakura know that, considering she had just picked up the holosuit in Rosewood? And why was it that Sakura felt so comfortable in this form... more so than her own original body?
"Is... something the matter?" A concerned voice besides the holosuited Vmon inquired. A girl, rather a holosuited Terriermon, with light blonde hair and bright green eyes with worry in them. She looked like she was around the same age as Sakura's holosuit appeared, perhaps just a bit taller. Sakura shook her head to alleviate the girl's worries.
"Emmy, do your find your holosuit uncomfortable at all?" She asked. The disguised Terriermon looked taken aback.
"I... I've never really considered it, but... I don't feel awkward at all!" She marveled, moving her arms around as she spoke. "In fact, it feels easier moving around when my arms and legs are so much longer. I always feel like I'm never able to get anywhere as quick as I'd like."
"And you didn't have any trouble adjusting to suddenly having longer limbs?" Sakura inquired further. "Like having trouble balancing?" After a bit more pondering Emmy shook her head from side to side.
"No... It all felt natural," She answered. "Is that supposed to be weird?"
It was Sakura's turn to be taken aback. "That's... I honestly don't know if it's weird or not..." Emmy forced a smile and patted Sakura on the shoulder.
"Well... when I was merged with Elly as Galgomon I didn't have any trouble moving around, so maybe having a holosuit is something similar?"
Sakura looked over to the other side of the train car to see a little girl, who looked like she couldn't be any older than nine or ten, stand up in her seat as she looked out the window, fascinated by the scenery of the Network Plains that they were beginning to approach. And while Sakura didn't think badly of the disguised Pomumon, something told her that Momo wouldn't contribute much for the conversation. And yet, it felt wrong of Sakura to make such judgments.
"Momo, what do you thi-"
"Look at those Digimon flying out there!" Momo interrupted pointing out the window. Sakura and Emmy moved over and looked out to see a pair of Digimon flying beside the Trailmon. One was a humanoid dragon while the other looked like a wolf with metallic wings. And the both of them were clad in a black metal.
BlackWarGreymon and BlackMetalGarurumon. And even from the train, and despite being in her holosuit, Sakura could sense an eerie Digital Signal from them as she did from herself and her comrades. Only a great deal more intense.
"S-Sakura?" Emmy had clutched her shoulder, her eyes wide in concern. "Is everything okay?"
The holosuited Vmon felt herself breathe, and realized that her entire body had been tensed up. Neither Emmy nor Momo seemed to sense what Sakura had felt. In fact, Momo was waving to the pair. The black metal wolf raised a paw in response, a mock-wave to the little girl.
And then the BlackMetalGarurumon attacked. A missile shot out from its shoulder and while Sakura couldn't see where it had hit she felt the train car violently shake.
"What's going on!?" Emmy shrieked in a panic. "Why are they attacking!?"
Sakura saw the metal wolf fire off another missile, again striking somewhere, another violent tremor and Sakura felt the train car begin to slow down.
"S-Sakura! What are we going to do!?" Emmy cried out, but the disguised Vmon felt paralyzed. She watched as the BlackWarGreymon raise their arms up and form a massive orb of some kind of crackling dark energy. "Sakura!" The BlackWarGreymon launched the sphere towards their train car she finally snapped out of it.
"Everyone, get cover!" She yelled out, grabbing onto both Emmy and Momo as she moved to the opposite side of the train car.
But it was too little, too late. The BlackWarGreymon's sphere collided, and after that, a concussive burst sent everything spinning out of control.
"Hey! Are you meditating right now? Kirara was asking you a question!"
