Bosozoku! Haru nodded before everyone took off, gesturing Zack to come over. "Big guy, come over here. Put this Feed Program onto your Digivice..." She would show him how to use it if needed. "It'll transfer food directly into your partner's belly, so she won't constantly burning her energy during the trip. If we don't know how long this'll take, then you might run the risk of having your partner run out of energy just staying transformed. It's apparently not healthy for Digimon to stay Digivolved for long, so this might keep her strength up while things aren't so tense."
Then Zack started making a bunch of references that the girls just didn't understand as they got set up. Haru groaned as she pointed towards the gear she begrudgingly put on. Then they got a move on, Gaomon resting atop Garummon's back while Haru and Natsu were dragged weightlessly along. It wasn't really necessary for them to do so if Zack and Zack's unnamed partner taking their own way, but necessity was far from the girls' priorities at this point!
As they traveled, Mistral nodded along with Zack's apology, her neutral expression unchanging. She was a magical, bichromatic-eyed cat with marysue wind powers so naturally the whipping winds didn't bother her. "Snakes are snakes, cat are cats, and children are children. No point in disliking things for what they are," She stated. "But I suppose I'm just not good with children, let alone children who, thanks to your intervention, have access to powers most Digimon won't ever achieve despite a lifetime of trying," She looked down beneath them, as Garummon drove forward while the two human girls glided behind him with large grins on their faces.
"Or maybe I'm no longer able to keep up with the times," She admitted. "The world always seems to evolve whenever I feel like I've figured things out..."

Zack's face furrowed into a frown as he looked to the girls. Evidently they hadn't appreciated his supremely clever Back to the Future reference. Which worried him that they just hadn't seen Back to the Future. That was an "injustice" to correct some other time however. For now they had something actually important to be looking for and following that trail out into the dunes was the only way they were going to do it.
Marigold seemed to release some of her tension as they got off into the wind. She kept her eyes on the trail below but did take a moment to close her eyes, suck in a breath and let it out slowly. Zack, as if on instinct, patted along the crest of her head and felt her relax into the touch of his palm. She really did worry, and in turn her worrying worried him, such a vicious cycle that the two of them had been caught up in.
"She gets stronger everyday. And I worry that she's cultivating that strength for my sake, rather than her own. She believes in my mission, and I'll never be able to thank her enough for that, but as her father I worry that she's locked herself to my purpose rather than finding her own." He said, pressing his hand firmly down against the top of her head. She had grown up so fast, right out underneath him and now was turning into the digimon version of a young woman but she still spent so much of her energy worrying about him.
"Looks like our worst case scenario was right on the money, more or less." Marigold pointed forward, tracing the line of the track ahead of them to where the group could just about make out the shapes of windmills and solar panels pointing upward like a sterile white and grey metal forest springing out from the dunes.

Bosozoku! For Haru, the novelty of their little trick had long since worn off. She looked over towards Natsu, who seemed more focused and careful. Even if she felt the same, she was at least still trying to be careful. Meanwhile, Haru just let out a long yawn, taking a deep breath of the dry desert air. You'd think that a high-speed trek through the desert would be exciting, but all that was different from a regular trek was the environment. Such a shame. And naturally, the tracks led towards the Den itself, not some isolated part of the desert nearby. Which Haru supposed that would have been too convenient. She could have just gotten Gaomon to dig around and collapse their entire facility and waste whatever mad mechanic built those dumb, ridiculous machines.
Mistral, meanwhile, simply remained silent as they got closer. She had learned more about their father-daughter relationship than she intended, and frankly it wasn't any of her business. Mistral really should have known better than to inquire. The silly child's career path wasn't her concern.
Regardless, the group would stop when Marigold came to a stop, unless they were just going to charge straight-in. Haru really didn't have much info to go off of other than "Hey let's just ask around. A parade of driverless vehicles leaving the place would probably attract some attention."

"Canvasing sounds like a better idea than standing out here in the sun with our hats in our hands." Zack said, shrugging after Marigold deposited her passengers. The Ultimate level Digimon was the most...attention grabbing of the group but the Hardware den wasn't an outright hostile environment for organic type digimon and humans, it was just not built for them and as such the interior was famously more than a little uncomfortable for any squishes who happened to walk in.
"I don't think we should split up to ask around down there. it'll be slower if we stick together but from everything I've ever heard those caves are a maze and a half. If one of us DOES stumble on trouble down there it could take forever for everyone else to link up. Sticking close and getting ready to get jumped it probably a better plan..." Marigold said, though she obviously wasn't exactly convinced of the "better" part of that sentence as much as she wanted to be. More like "plan where some of us don't get trapped down there with whatever sent those franken-bikes." They all started to walk down into the entrance, the ground groaning underneath them as if they were stepping on some kind of singular plate.
Just as anyone in the group would start to question the odd floor it opened up underneath all of them, snapping open out from under them and dumping them all in a tumbling ball on a slide in the pitch black dark, colliding into one another, rolling and tumbling over each over until they were dumped in a pile, still in the dark, on an unforgiving floor.

Bosozoku! Okay! Looks like a plan had been made, nobody had any objections, and everyone was ready to proceed! Things were looking hunky-dory until - uh-oh! - the floor opened up and they began to fall. Natsu and Garummon began to scream in shock and fear while Haru let loose a shout of something along the lines of, "Whoo-hooo!". It was entirely possible that the teenage girl may not be fully sane. But let's face it, sanity is overrated!
"Gabumon, shield! Mistral!" She yelled out once she was done expressing her joy. Within an instant, Garummon let loose a barrier of light that, while it wasn't blocking any immediate attacks, it was plenty bright enough to light up a large room. And when they were about to hit the bottom, a sudden rush of air would push between the falling group and the floor beneath, or at the very least keep the giant Marigold from tumbling around and crushing the tiny, fragile humans to death.
And... considering that floor opening up + in a dark place doesn't really give me a lot to go off of, that's about it on my end.

"Son of a...ow..." Zack said as he pushed himself up to his feet and felt a couple of joints popping and a couple of new aches flaring to lift. All in a day's work for a superhero...or something. "Everybody got all their bits glued on straight?" He said as he patted himself down and walked around, offering hands to anybody who wasn't already on their feet.
"Uhh...dad? I think we..." Marigold said as they looked out at the cavernous space in front of them. No, not a cavern, more like a canyon. Carved walls, mechanically smooth that stretched out in a long hall in front of them, Alcoves cut into the rock shimmering with a faint blue backlight that showed not a couple, not a dozen, but a couple hundred of the franken-vehicles in various states of disrepair and construction. The phalanx that had been sent after Rustport was nothing compared to the army that was in storage to either side of them.
A light clicked on at the front, several hundred yards ahead of them, a massive spotlight that made their eyes which had even partially adjusted to the dim lighting sting before they could adjust back to bright light.
"You would be heroes have interrupted my all important field testing. Such anti-scientific sentiment, I'm afraid, simply cannot be tolerated." Said a voice coming from the front of the room. The group could only move in one direction, toward the voice taunting them and past the legion of maybe operational, maybe not war machines that lined the walls several stories high.

Bosozoku! "Nnngh... I think I'll be okay..." Natsu confirmed as she was helped up by the heroman. She patted herself down, as if checking to make sure there weren't any spots that might be hurting more than they should at the moment. Things seemed to be okay once she let out a sigh of relief.
"I'm fine. My head cushioned the fall," Gaomon grunted as he sprung up and stretched out. He had been on his brother's back for so long that it felt good to be on his feet again.
Haru and Garummon didn't seem to have any issue standing, neither did the Tailmon that was floating above the ground. Mistral herself seemed more annoyed at the annoying spotlight, her eyes twitching in irritation as whoever it was gave them his ominous message.
"Oh, don't be like that," Mistral responded with a playful grin. "We're conducting an experiment, too. We just wanna know if you have any more piles of scrap metal for us to shred!"
"Yeah! We're gonna shove our fists so far up your robot's... Whatever they got!" Gaomon added with a growl as he excitedly tapped his fists against each other. "Natsu! Let's move forward full speed! I don't wanna waste any more time!"
But Natsu was nearly frozen in place. Maybe it was because she had nearly fallen to her death, found herself in a canyon with a small maybe-functional robot army on either side of her, and then have a crazy mad scientist guy who had the stones to invade an entire town invite the group to his doorstep, where there were no doubt more traps like the one that had brought them down here laying in wait. You know, because Natsu wasn't a crazy person.
And as much fun as taunting the mad scientist with an entire army surrounding them was, Haru frowned as she looked towards Zack and Marigold. "Well, if there's only one way to go. Mind you and your bug buddy taking the lead here, heroguy? Your partner's probably the toughest one here, and all that gear you've got tells me you're used to a little roughness, while my sister and I are but delicate, flower buds in this violent storm called life!"
Haru moved over towards Natsu, throwing one arm over her shoulders while she placed her other hand towards her chest, then dramatically lifted it towards the sky before letting it slowly fall back into place. rolled her eyes and shook her head. "You're so stupid, sometimes..." She chided, barely able to suppress a laugh as a bit of tension and nervousness went away.

"You've interrupted my experiments at their apex and for what? A few provincial villagers? There's plenty more of those to go around and my work is very delicate and time sensitive. You've pushed back my unveiling by at least a month." The voice said, bouncing off the walls toward them. The smug, sociopathic satisfaction the voice had with itself was thick enough to almost feel like a physical force crawling up the spine.
"You know what? Generally I at least try some diplomacy before things get messy but hearing every single word coming out of this guy's mouth is making me much more willing to take point." Zack said, turning to Haru and crossing one arm over his chest in an extended and exaggerated bow before leaping onto Marigold's back, clasping his arms around her shoulders and neck tightly. "next stop? A hard landing on that guy's inflated ego." Zack said as Marigold hunched down, her wings buzzing with anticipation before taking off at a ground shaking charge toward the front of the long, cavernous hall.
It seemed their mad scientist wasn't enthusiastic about an up close and personal meeting with the do gooders that had invaded his frankenstein's castle, alcoves on either side of the main hall lighting up at random, whatever vehicles were able to move launched out of their spots. it was still mostly the smaller motorcycles that leapt out of their spots and began to roar their crackling, almost cackling engines toward the group. This time, however, they weren't content to simply chase their targets about.
"UHNF! Seems like his toys aren't content to just cause some panic this time." Marigold said as an explosive the size of a firecracker was launched just past the back of her head to detonate in an ear ringing explosion not far from the opposite wall.
The bikes were moving like fighter planes, making passes at the group, firing off the missile they had chambered before making wide swings to go in for another pass. Marigold held out her arms and swatted two of the bikes up into the air, twirling head over heels and firing off their payloads without any seeming recognition of their out of control spins, blasting a shockwave through the air before they loudly shattered on impact with the smooth stone ground.
"You're gonna have to do...better...than...that...oh my lord." Zack said as Marigold skidded to a stop in front of a MASSVIE shape suddenly revealed by another flushing spotlight. A tank as tall and wide as a house, sitting high on four bouncing, hydraulic wheels away from the main body like the legs of a spider.
