C'mon Shi! Hurry up!" Shi was currently being dragged along by his little sister towards some closed off stand around the entertainment district, she was in quite the outfit that being some sort of magical girl outfit complete with a poofy dress and everything, Shi was just in his casual clothes though as the Grey eyed teen let himself be dragged along by his little sister.
Apparently, there was some sort of live show going on around the district. Something about Sentai crossed with magical girls. Definitely nothing Shi was interested in but his sister was another thing entirely. Absolutely crazy about that sorta thing so here he was on one of his few days off taking her to see it, not that he minded that much really just kinda nothing something he thought he'd do. Figuring he'd be the only teenager there around a buncha kids.
When they got there however it was pretty full up, on first glance Shi didn't see anyone around his age sitting about the area. They were pretty far off from the main line of the district which felt a bit odd to Shi, there was even a sign talking about no flash photography and limiting people from their phones. Probably to make sure they wouldn't record it or anything.
Though when Shi got there, something felt a bit amiss. He overheard someone from nearby asking. "So he refuses to leave his costume? Well guess that's fine." Which probably wasn't anything but even still it had his curiosity.
Shi and his Sister got there just in time to see the show start up, five humans in colorful outfits going up against...... A digimon? A GulusGammamon to be specific. Blinking for a few moment Shi wondered if what he was seeing was real as Mirai rushed off to go find a seat up close.
There was no way he was the only one seeing this shit right?

Mandrake, with Circe tightly clenching one of the disguised Wizardmon's gloved hands, and Lothar were walking along looking for the location of a show they had heard about. Though Circe didn't seem that keen on the prospect of being in a large crowd Mandrake was able to convince her that she would be okay if she stuck close. Soon they arrived on site seeing the costumes based around Sentai and Magical girls. Mandrake and Lothar glanced at Circe figuring she would definitely fit in around this area fine
Mandrake could also sense digimon among the humans but given the nature of the show such a thing was not all that surprising and as he looked at Circe he could tell his young daughter was telepathically aware of the digimon too but responded by snuggling into him looking nervous. Sure she was a digimon herself but that did not mean she was up for a potential fight so Mandrake hoped whatever digimon that were around were just there for the show. As they family made their way they briefly glanced at the sign regarding no flash photography which was probably for the best as Mandrake and Lothar both knew Circe wasn't comfortable with having her picture taken anyway.
Just then Mandrake, Lothar, and Circe spotted five humans in costume going up against what was definitely a digimon. There was definitely no mistaking it. Hopefully the GulusGammamon was just part of the show cause Mandrake and Lothar shuddered to think what could happen if the digimon was aggressive.

The day had been going surprisingly well for once. The new issue of Iwao's favorite manga magazine was out, and he managed to snag the last copy the nearest hobby store had in stock. After that stroke of luck, Iwao figured he'd get himself that figure that kept catching his eye as he came into the store. It was of the rival character from his favorite delinquent manga, an intense-looking blonde kid stood on top of a car tire. He made his purchase, tucked his purchases neatly in the bag so that they were hidden, and silently went on his way.
He was definitely pretty cheery, but you wouldn't be able to tell just by looking at him. In fact, the cashier checking out his items was shivering like it was -30 degrees in the store while doing so. As he walked across the sidewalk, those that noticed him tended to walk a little further away from. No, he didn't have some crazy stored power that people could sense as they approached him. He was just really good at acting intimidating. He strutted in a way that made it seem like he'd run you over if you didn't move out of the way, had an intense look hung up between his ears, and generally gave off the aura of someone who'd roll your jaw if you looked at him funny. This was all brought together by the outfit. He wore an old-school gakuran over his shoulders like a cape, like something from a punk manga come to life. It appeared to stay on his shoulders like magic, but you'd be surprised what well-placed velcro could do. All of this, for what amounted to a very dedicated cosplay.
He'd make his way down the square, before briefly glancing towards a large commotion as he walked past it. He very nearly paid it no mind, but his eyes shot back to it after a brief moment. It was your standard kids stage show, with characters from a sentai series battling in front of a bunch of little kids, but among them was some big scaly guy he had never seen before. The costume department of this company must be insane! This thing looked like it wasn't even a costume, more like really high quality CGI! After watching the performance for a second, he just got even more impressed. Every individual finger and toe moved independently, the tail looked as if it was moving on its own, and the legs somehow bent backwards? It was just like how an actual animal would walk, like the ankle of the person in the costume was in their knees somehow. That thing was definitely uncomfortable as hell to wear, but that was par for the course with sentai monster suits. He stood off to the side a bit and decided to watch the rest of the show, purely to try to wrap his head around the effect of whatever monster this suit was of.

"This is utterly ridiculous."
Today was a special event in Shibuya, as there was a live show going on in the Entertainment District. From the description of it, the event seemed to be something like Super Sentai mixed with the magical girl genre. Being fans of both, Kaya Matsui and her little sister Mari of course had to attend this event. With Kari cosplaying as Ryusoul Pink fro Kishiryu Sentai Ryusoulger and Mari dressed up as Cardcaptor Sakura, the two girls along with Hawkeye made their way to the district and counted themselves in with the countless other kids and teens who came to see this live show. Hawkeye, of course, was not having as good of a time as the girls were, despite being able to be out of his holosuit due to the amount of other people wearing costumes as well.
"This is great, Hawkeye, why aren't you having a good time as well?" Kaya asked. "There's not many chances to see a live Toku show in Shibuya like this!"
"I find the whole thing ridiculous," Hawkeye said, crossing his wings as he watched the kids and teens all gather around. "The fights in those shows are not true fights, they clearly have not seen real battle being fought before. The outfits are an eyesore, as well."
"You're just jealous cuz you don't have a costume," Mari said in a teasing tone of voice.
"You wouldn't catch me dead wearing one of those costumes."
"Wanna bet?"
"No killing Hawkeye please," Kaya said in a way that didn't invoke much urgency. "Look, just humor us both on this, and I'll get you an eclair on the way home. You should at least try to have some fun too, Hawkeye. It's not as dumb as you think it... okay yeah, it actually is kind of silly, but that's what makes it fun! Just go with it!"
Kaya too felt that something wasn't right when the trio arrived. She and Hawkeye could both overhear someone talking about how the actor wouldn't take off their costume. "Wow, talk about a method actor," Kaya said. "Either that or they're sweating so much the suit got stuck."
"I cannot even fathom how foul that suit must smell if that's the case," Hawkeye responded.
The trio managed to make it on time a few minutes before the show started, being able to snag seats up close to the front. There were five humans in colorful suits, as to be expected, but their opponent on the other hand... "You're pulling my leg..."
"What?" Kaya asked her partner.
"The opponent those actors are facing isn't a man in a costume... it's a Digimon," Hawkeye explained. "A GulusGammamon, to be specific. They tend to be incredibly hostile, and live for violence. We must be wary of anything this Digimon tries to attempt, Kaya."
"Why does everything fun we try to do always end up involving evil Digimon in some way...?" Kaya asked, sounding very annoyed at how everything was playing out. Was it too much to ask for to have just one normal outing?

Suffice to say three groups in the crowd were definitely alerted and alarmed by the being in front of them, if this digimon was aggressive or wanted to pick a fight then things could get really bad and really fast. Though part of Shi didn't think that would be the case, considering he was on stage at the moment and not doing anything but sitting there with his arms crossed while everyone in front seemed to get seated. To which all of the sudden Shi felt a weight jump on his back climbing up and near his head, his Sister was now sitting on his shoulders to get a better view. "I couldn't find a seat close enough, this'll work though!" So now the teen had a magical girl on his shoulders, fun times.
The lights shined down on the stage finally, first to the Hero's on the left side of the stage, the lead one walking forward and pointing towards the GulusGammamon. "It's over now! We have you cornered Demon king! It's time we finish this!" With that line the rest of them got into fighting poses, well exaggerated fighting poses but fighting poses all the same.
Then the light shined on Gulus, his turn to talk. Eyes closed and his arms crossed a soft laughter was heard from the digimon before he threw his hands outward. "Bah, me Cornered? You humans would do well to understand the situation you've gotten yourself into. To delude yourselves into thinking you've caught me, that is your first mistake!" Turning his back to them he raised his shoulders up, shrugging as he took a few steps away from them. As the colorful cast started to approach though from seemingly nowhere. But if one looked really closely they could see them coming from behind stage. a girl in a dark outfit got between them. "After all, the last human to 'corner' me ended up as such a nice puppet, you can play with her instead!" Well that seemed to be the magical girl part of this whole situation.
With her raising her weapon towards the hero's it would seem it was time to start the fight, which was definitely interesting for Shi to see at least after a year or so of only seeing digimon fight. Seems Gulus took what he said literally at the moment as he noticed the digimon walk off stage and a bit away from the area out back.
Deciding Shi should probably go see what this was all about he looked up at his sister for a moment before asking. "Hey, wanna go bother that monster Miss. Starlight?" The little girl on his shoulders nodded and the Namika siblings started to make their way over to the area, where they and anyone else who decided to walk over would find the digimon leaning against the wall.

Though Mandrake didn't see the other groups as his and his family's eyes were glued on the stage it was certain he and Circe were aware of them near the stage as the two of them were telepathic by nature and Circe's powers were not suppressed by a holosuit since she didn't have one. "Hmm, it's faint but there are definitely familiar minds nearby.' Mandrake thought but didn't take his eyes of the stage despite Circe tugging on his arm her grip growing stronger with how nervous the child was. Otherwise the rookie digimon was silent.
Mandrake then noticed how Shi now had his younger sister on his shoulders. This could easily go bad if Gulus proved problematic and as he was about to insist Circe to leave with Lothar, Gulus kept the act going playing up the role of something called a Demon King before a young girl came on stage. With that Gulus made his way off stage and Mandrake looked at Lothar and Circe before he said "We're going after them."
"But, Dad.." Circe began nervously not sure of what else to say.
"Don't worry, Circe. If things get bad you can run away and find someplace high to climb to wait for Lothar and myself. We're just going to talk to that digimon. Hopefully he isn't as intimidating as he appears." Mandrake said as he led his family in the direction Gulus, Shi, and his sister went spotting the digimon leaning against a wall. Though Circe had released her death grip on his hand the disguised Wizardmon called out to the GulusGammamon as he said "Hey you by the wall. Over here!" It may of been simple but hopefully enough to grab Gulus' attention.

Iwao would notice that the suited man was seemingly off the job at this point. It should be fine to go up and get a closer look, right? He'd start walking towards the costumed individual, but noticed someone else beat him to the punch, calling them out before he had the chance. Iwao was already too curious about this anatomically dubious getup to care too much about this, so he'd wordlessly follow the "Demon King" into the back and start looking him up and down. He held his hands in his pockets, slouching over as he hunched his back upwards and downwards to get a look at any potential seams or zippers or....anything? Does this costume not have any openings or something? To Iwao, it just looked like scales, muscles, and claws.
"The hell does this costume work...?!" Iwao finally blurted in a gruff tone. "There some kinda hidden zipper or something?" He would then shrug, giving the mascot a brief smirk, saying, "I hope they're not paying you minimum wage, because there's no way that thing can be comfortable to wear."

Kaya, Hawkeye and Mari watched as the show began. Kaya and Hawkeye still had their doubts about the GulusGammamon that was seemingly a part of the show, but it should be okay as long as he didn't do anything out of the ordinary... or at least, that's what Kaya figured. Hawkeye still felt like a Digimon like this shouldn't be participating in a human stage play such as this. Though that did make him curious as to how Gulus got the part...
The show was what you'd expect, with the human team claiming they had the Demon King (GulusGammamon) cornered, and the Demon King monologuing about being superior and the magical girls being clueless. It was typical stuff you'd see in a Toku show, only it had magical girl elements and it was live. Things got interesting when Gulus didn't fight the girls himself... instead, he stuck to the script and one of the other actresses came onstage playing a "possessed" magical girl that would fight the heroes in his stead.
"Well that's unexpected," Hawkeye commented.
"That must be a good thing, right?" Kaya suggested. "He's not trying to actually use his powers on the girls; he's sticking to the story like an actor would."
"I'd feel more comfortable if I could question him myself," Hawkeye said, crossing his wings. And low and behold, the GulusGammamon would head backstage once his possessed minion joined the battle. "Kaya, we should go and follow him backstage."
"Seems like you're not the only one who's suspicious of him," Kaya said, pointing out the three different groups that were beginning to get up and follow the GulusGammamon. "Mari, we're gonna go see the monster back stage real quick... you stay right there and watch the show, okay?"
"Why do you get to go and see the Demon King?" Mari asked, pouting a bit. "I wanna see him too!"
Kaya groaned. "Fine, we can go see him together, but be careful, okay?"
With Kaya putting on her Ryusoul Pink helmet, she, Mari and Hawkeye would join the others in following the GulusGammamon backstage. They'd end up making it there as one of the parents that had followed GulusGammamon was confronting him. Kaya, Hawkeye and Mari would just stand there, waiting to see how the GulusGammamon would respond... simply because, well, they weren't exactly sure what to say since they didn't know if the others there knew about Digimon. Except...
"Shi? Mirai? Is that you?" Kaya asked, her voice a tiny bit muffled from her helmet. "It's us, Kaya and Mari! I didn't think you'd be interested in a show like this, Shi."

As the four groups made their way backstage where literally no one seemed to be around to stop them, it was interesting to see that security was rather light around here. Shi took a quick note of that as he walked up with a pair of parents making the rounds in front of him, a gruff guy who seemed interested in the costume and someone that Shi and Mirai actually knew, Kaya and her partner with her own little sister in tow. Raising his hand Shi gave a lazy wave while his sister on his shoulders gave a very energetic wave. "Of course we're interested, me and my. Wait what did we decide you were again brother?" She asked looking down at him in the eyes.
"We didn't, we stopped at secret assistant brother and then had to leave to come here." seems Shi was playing along with whatever fantasy his sister seemed to be going for, which if anyone knew Shi would seem a bit odd considering his normal loner personality. "Personally I'm a fan of the secret half brother that came back to life and sworn an oath to protect you from the shadows." Shi joked patting her on the head.
"We're working on it, right now he'll just be Shi. While I'm Miss Ultimate Starlight, defender of truth and love!" They'd probably notice her outfit didn't really match any known character, but if anyone was savy enough in that subject they'd notice a lot of, 'inspiration' was taken from some other magical girls, but it was its own custom design which was neat.
Back to the topic of Gulus while they were heading over they could most likely hear him talking to himself for a moment. "Ok, once they... Then I'll... And He'll..." However he was taken out of his train of thought for a moment as Mandrake called out to him, glancing over he saw them and saw the kids as well, letting out a small cough Gulus stood up straight crossing his arms in front of them. "Hmph, you are quite bold to call out to one such as I human, State your buisness before the lord."
Though another person started talking as well, asking how the costume worked. "Costume? Bah, this is no Costume. It is simply who I am, As for the funds I assure you I am given only the best for the work I do." While he was talking like this he seemed to be looking at the kids of the group, as if gauging their reaction. Mirai was definitely loving it.

Lothar then glanced around taking note of the familiar faces as he said "Kaya? Shi? You two know each other?" Yeah the big guy looked understandably perplexed but couldn't help but grin at the interaction between Shi and his sister. It seemed the young girl was really playing up the role she dressed up for.
"Defender of truth and love, huh. That sure sounds familiar." Lothar said before he attention went back to Mandrake. Circe was still clinging nervously to him but was now hiding behind Mandrake as the disguised Wizardmon stood before GulusGammamon.
Meanwhile Mandrake grinned before he said "Bold of you to assume I am a human. There must be something wrong with you ability to sense digimon since only my true appearance is disguised. As for my business, my daughter telepathically sensed you much before I got close enough to sense you as well. As you know digimon abilities in holosuits are very limited. So what are you intentions here in Shibuya? If you mean no harm I will leave you be."
That was enough action for Circe as the nervous child released her grip on Mandrake before scurrying back away from Gulus hiding behind some equipment backstage. Lothar moved closer to her but kept at a cautious distance as to not frighten her more.

Iwao would slowly nod his head up and down at GulusGammamon, assuming he was still trying to be in character for the kids around him. "Right...I'll just be over here then...Sire." Iwao sneered a bit as he said sire, and it was clear he was being mildly sarcastic. He was playing tough, but there was no way Iwao would ruin the imagination of these kids by breaking the illusion, so he decided to stop prying further for now. Instead, he'd take a few steps back, and continue trying to wrap his head around how this costume worked. The mouth was completely articulated, and had detailing down to the teeth. It's eyes even looked around, and the eyelids would blink naturally. To be quite honest, if he didn't know better Iwao would think this is some real life monster. That would be ridiculous though. Even a diehard manga reader like Iwao knew where fantasy ends and reality begins, although he usually did his best to blur that line for himself. Monsters, however, are way too far into the fantasy genre for his taste.
Iwao would have his arms folded, looking at GulusGammamon from every conceivable angle in order to somehow find any indicator that this was a costume. He was starting to get somewhat desperate for the answer, since this logically shouldn't take this long to figure out. As he was getting visibly frustrated looking at GulisGammamon, he overheard the conversation between another one of the guests and the "Demon King." If this were just a kid playing pretend he'd pay it no mind, but this person appeared to be an adult going along with some plot about a "Digimon", whatever that is. Now, Iwao of all people knew he wasn't in a position to judge people on their delusions, but the performance from before didn't seem to mention anything about a "Digimon". He'd eventually give it no mind, just assuming that it was something their kids decided to make up, and kept at the more pressing task of trying to figure out how this seemingly impossible dinosaur costume works.

Well, it seemed that two groups came up that Kaya and Hawkeye recognized. Not only Shi and Mirai, but also Mandrake and Lothar. Lothar asked how Kaya and Shi know each other. "Hey, Mandrake! Lothar! Of course we know each other. Our sisters are good friends, so it's only natural that Shi and I are friends as well." Maybe "friends" was the wrong word, but the almost fifteen year old wasn't quite sure how else to describe her relationship with Shi.
It seemed that Shi and Mirai had come up with their own magical girl backstory before coming here. Though from the looks of Mirai's costume, it looks like she just grabbed various items from other existing magical girls and cobbled them together in one costume. She called herself "Miss Ultimate Starlight, defender of truth and love." Kaya had to laugh at that a bit. "Does that mean you'll extend your reach to the stars above?"
"...I don't get it," Hawkeye bluntly said.
"Well, I'm dressed up as Cardcaptor Sakura," Mari said, showing off her cool replica Sealing Wand to her friend.
"And I'm the Knight of Vigor," Kaya announced as she pulled out her prop sword, mimicking the pose they did in the show. "Ryusoul Pink!"
"And I am just... myself, I suppose," Hawkeye said, sweatdropping a bit. "I honestly don't see why Kaya and Mari had to dress up for something like this... same with you, Mirai."
Now it came time to questioning the GulusGammamon. The pink-haired human decided to just stand back and observe the Digimon while the GulusGammamon in question was very good at staying in character. Must've been some kind of method actor. But then Mandrake stepped up and started accusing the GulusGammamon of having evil intentions, to which Kaya felt like she had to step in between the two of them. "Hold on a second! You can't just go accusing Digimon of having bad intentions like that... even if they kinda look like they do."
"What she is trying to say is that this GulusGammamon is just an actor for the stage play," Hawkeye added. "Him being a Digimon is irrelevant to that fact. In fact, I'd say he's a pretty decent actor. If he wanted to harm others, he would've done so at the beginning instead of sticking to the script."
While that was going on, Mari looked as if she was enamored by the GulusGammamon. Sure, he was playing a villain, but he just looked so cool and nice. Mari would be the first to take the initiative, jogging up to the GulusGammamon and giving him a big hug, wrapping her arms around his waist and squeezing his torso as much as she could... which, given she was ten or eleven years old, it wasn't that strong of a hug.

"Yes we do big man I do not know?" Shi said rather bluntly looking up at the Holo-suited digimon, he had only met them in the digital world. Thankfully Kaya confirmed who they were talking to. "Mandrake and, Oh right. From the restaurant I think." Well that made sense at least, it would've been really weird that some guy Shi hadn't met before knew him. Shi didn't really confirm or deny his possible friendship with Kaya but just gave a nod that she was correct about how they knew each other, which wasn't to be rude or deny it or anything that's just kinda how he was.
"Nah, I'll leave that to team Rocket. I'm good taking care of earth for now!" After all starlight shined down on earth or something like that, was that what she was going for? Honestly it was hard to tell which fit in line with a small childs made up story.
"It's mostly just for fun, wear something you normally don't in public, show support for what you like. So long as it makes em happy who cares about the reason." His sister was smiling and that was good enough for him if he was honest.
Anyway back to the actual plot of this story, Gulus heard what Mandrake said and it was pretty clear it had annoyed him, enough to almost drop his persona, but he managed to quickly recovered. "There is naught a thing wrong with my senses I assure you! Mayhap you haven't realized it by now but I am quite distracted with my prior duties. As for what I'm doing here." Gulus was stopped by Kaya and Hawkeye slightly chastising Mandrake for his choice of words. "Tis quite alright Tamer and partner, I am quite used to accusations such as these. such words have lost their ability to bother me. My intentions are as they claim, no more no less. Whatever your daughter may of sensed came not from me." Though as he finished he suddenly felt something grab him by the waist, it was a small kid!
"Oh, heh. Thanks, quite bold of you to grab a 'demon lord' like this." For a moment his voice dropped back down to a much more calm and nice tone rather then the deep brooding demon lord voice he had been using before. Patting Mari on the head for a moment as he looked over towards Mandrake's Daughter. "I am sorry if i scared you, I just want to perform with my friends out there. I usually can't do stuff like this where I'm from."
"Don't worry, even if you're scary the defender of truth and love will surely protect you as well from meanies! Alongside my assistantsecrethalfbrotherguardian." Mirai announced as she leapt from Shi's shoulders over to the Gulus' swinging around his neck with another child hug. Thankfully he was sturdy enough to not fall over from the sudden force of a small child.

It seemed that one of the humans had no idea of what digimon were and still thought Gulus was some actor in a suit which seemed easy to buy for the unaware as Gulus was a pretty good actor not dropping his Demon Lord act for the most part. As for Shi it seemed he recognized them now and Lothar said "Yes you met us in a restaurant in while our eldest LJ was still a baby."
Mandrake glanced back at Kaya before he said "I assure you I didn't intend to come off as rude but now that I think about it my wariness brought on by less than reputable digimon might of made me come off as harsh." He then turned to Gulus and said "I must apologize all the same. Now that I know you just came to spend time with friends perfoming I might be able to convince my daughter to come out of hiding. She has had a rough start and being around strangers makes her anxious. Even moreso with adult females unfortunately."
While Mandrake made his way over to where Circe had hidden herself Lothar chuckled at Gulus being hugged by the two human children. It was super cute to see an intimidating looking digimon being confused by overly eager children. Mandrake kneeled down holding a hand out before he said "It's okay, Circe. You can come out." Circe shook her head but otherwise refused to budge meaning Mandrake had to wait patiently for her to come out on her own since forcing her out of hiding would upset her even more.

Iwao would suddenly grab his head with one palm in confusion "Agh, I give already, this thing is impossible!" He'd say, seemingly having finally tied his brain into a knot over GulusGammamon's "Costume". "Electric Motors, Hydraulics, Prosthetics, none of those would fit in there! Especially not with a person inside!" He'd rub his head for a few moments longer, before finally taking a breath, and coming to an almost immediate realization. Those are real scales aren't they, real teeth too. "Have I been staring down and prodding a 6 Foot dinosaur man with razor sharp fangs and claws this whole time?"The more and more he thought, the more the realization donned on him. He'd have to play it cool from here on out, and think about what he'd heard until now. Digimon right? That's what they called themselves. Digi, like in Digits, Numbers, Digital maybe? Mon has gotta stand for monster then right? A cold look would suddenly display on Iwao's face. To others, he almost looked pissed off, but he was, in truth, scared stiff.
"They said they were also the same as him right? Does that mean some of the people in here are monsters? Are they all!?" He'd linger over the thought for a moment, his own imagination spiraling his thoughts into panicked, near incohesion. "So they're monsters in disguise? Does that mean they're hiding in human society already? Does that mean they're gonna kill me to keep their secret!?!" This internal battle Iwao was having was somehow masked by the demeanor of his adopted delinquent persona, partially out of fear of making a move and still not wanting to let up the act respectively. He hadn't even noticed the change in expression on his own face as he became lost in thought.
