Dust charged forward at blinding speeds in an attempt to quickly incapacitate the SkullGreymon so he could rescue Dr. Cromm, and yet for as insignificant as the Agumon Hakase seemed, the SkullGreymon held onto him like he was quite vital. As Dust charged forward, the blue orb's light intensified, as if it were drawing power from the creature inside, and then a wall of interconnecting bones jutted out from the ground, in between Dust's charging punch and the SkullGreymon. And seeing as Dust would likely be stopped in his tracks, the SkullGreymon swept through its own barried in order to slice at Dust with one of its bony claws. The claw itself wouldn't deal much damage, but it would leave him exposed for a follow-up attack.
And it seemed like the blue orb wasn't done drawing power from Dr. Cromm just yet, either! It began to intensify once more, and the SkullGreymon's body was covered in a faint outline of blue light as its movements began to speed up significantly. Not even a second after it swept out with its claw did it spin around and try to slam Dust with its SkullGreymon skull.
And if Dust were to have gotten hit by either of these effects, he would feel his body begin to feel strange, as if he were under the influence of some bizarre effect that changed his very life force... But that's for the moves and abilities section!
So Dr. Cromm, however willing he may or may not be, is serving as SkullGreymon's ally for this fight, his abilities being used to support SkullGreymon for the purposes of this combat, essentially making it a 2-on-2.
Dr. Cromm's Doctor's Guard and Doctor's Might passive effects are increasing SkullGreymon's Attack and Defense by 50%, but decreasing both of his own by 20% each. In addition, Dr. Cromm's Bone Barrier was used to block Dust's attack, and his Bonded Blitz passive ability allowed SkullGreymon to use an extra named ability this turn.
On SkullGreymon's end, the bone baddy is using its Bone Claw to swipe at Dust to deal a bit of damage and cause his next move to deal double damage, and without even waiting to see if the move hit or not, uses its extra attack to strike out with Skull Cracker, a move that just deals damage. If Dust takes damage from either of these attacks, or damages SkullGreymon in return, he'll be affected by SkullGreymon's Affront to Nature passive ability.
