The Guilmon X realized his glares had not gone unnoticed by all parties and looked to the side a little. "Mmm...." Was all he could really respond out about the questions of 'why'. He did look over to Mona to at least give her a reply, with a simple, "Thank you."
If he wasn't feeling sheepish already, here comes Y2K offering up a whole apple! The digimon blinked a few times and then tilted his head. One of his ear fins twitching at the gesture. "A-- Blue apple..." He says softly, before looking at Y2K, "...ah..." Then he looks at the apple, before back to the other digimon. Then, before anyone could usher a word...
That apple was taken by Duke and quickly devoured! This whole apple was now the property of a hungry Guilmon X! Watch your fingers if you get to close! The fruit from the digital forest also didn't last too long, as he started to clean his claws of any remaining bits of the apple. Then at last gave a minor smile on his muzzle before he said. "Thanks! Not my favorite fruit, but still tasty. Normally Duke has to stay away from trees that have them at times, cause of the Megadramons."
This is when he at last turned his focus back to Rai and gave him a good glance up and down, before he looks to Y2K. "He takes good care of you, huh?" Then he looks to Kshin perhaps more willing to now answer the other digimon's question. "... And-- rumors. Stories. Just wary is all." Before his attention moves back to Y2K, though he does move himself slightly to make sure he can get a good view of everyone in the camp.

Kshin, Grace, and Mona accepted the two slices with a polite thank you. Kshin then walked over to Duke holding out a meat apple and some digi noir and said "Here you go, Duke. Have a bit more."
Grace then picked up the head of lettuce that had holes in it from being stuck on her horns and broke portions of for Rai, Y2K, and Duke and said "Here have some of the lettuce. Even Y2K should like this since he doesn't like Human World food. Though I don't know why he doesn't the Human World has a lot of yummy food even if it isn't made of data." Y2K just seemed excited at the prospect of having a new potential friend and to be honest the energy was kind of infectious. This definitely improved Kshin's mood from his morning show going wrong.
As for Duke, it seemed the Guilmon X was struggling with how to best explain his wariness of humans. Probably trying to avoid coming off as insulting most likely. His reaction to being offered a blue apple was admittedly adorable though incuding Duke fastly devouring the offered blue apple. Hearing about him having to avoid Megadramons, Kshin said "Sounds like you came from rough territory to have to compete with food with ultimates like Megadramon."
"Yeah some of those rumors and stories can be pretty scary but many humans aren't mean to their digimon partners. Sure humans who don't know about digimon are understandably afraid of us when first seeing a digimon for the first time." Kshin said before he continued "Some of those stories can be exaggerated though so while still wise to be cautious one should take those rumors with a grain of salt."

Rai hadn't really considered the idea that digimon could find humans of all things scary, seeing how digimon seemed to have them cleanly outmatched in terms of offensive and defensive capabilities. The idea that other tamers could be cruel to their partners made his brow furrow slightly.
Y2K nodded energetically however at Duke's question, proclaiming that "Rai's the best! I get to eat lots, and we play tag, and eat lots, and meet new friends, and go on adventures; Rai says I help him to feel--" feel things again, "--better. He helps me feel better." said Rai calmly. That was personal information Y2K was about to charge headlong into.
Y2K paused, hovering a finger near his lip again not sure what else to say. "And he went hunting for a dig-armor so I wouldn't get hurt and we found it, but we got separated so it was scary--"
"Y2K, its too much information." prompted Rai again without a hint of feeling in it. "Duke doesn't need to know about all that." again what had happened in that place and why they went there was personal.
Y2K hummed. Unfortunately the Keramon didn't really have any filter or natural suspicion of others. He just had to take Rai's word for it. He looks at the bread and says. "If it isn't data, I don't see how its food. I like the 0s and 1s! Kekeke!"

Duke soon found himself being given gifts of food. From the apple meat and noir, to even a piece of the lettuce. Whatever this crew place in front of him, he was devouring with no complaints! His attention did shift over to Kshin, as he replies, "Mmm. Something like that. I lived in a village, but." He looks down at his claws, moving them slightly. "I left when I became old enough. Went place to place alone. Duke picked up jobs here and there but been surviving on own." The Guilmon X then looks back to Kshin. "I need to get stronger. If I do not, I will never know-- I need to know..." His voice trailed off as he lowered his gaze. His eye ridges knit a little, as his mood seem to slowly decline as a different, heavier weight seem to fall over him.
It was hard to say if even the explanation from the other digimon about how not all humans were bad was even clicking in that head of his, but whatever the mood was, it didn't last long thanks to Y2k. He blinks a little as the fellow mon goes on about things that Rai doesn't seem to want to be shared. He gently tilts his head, slowly looking over toward Rai, before looking back to Y2K. "Why too much information?" His attention turns back to Rai. There was a complexed look on his face, an--almost older look in that Guilmon X's childish eyes. A look that almost asked 'What are you hiding?'
Though it was yet again broken as Y2K states he has no desire for human food. "What is wrong with human food? Does it taste different? Does it smell bad?' Duke then raises his snout in the direction of the bread. "It smells good to me. You should eat some! If you eat some, I'll eat some. We can eat some together!" Sure, it came from a human and Duke didn't trust the human at all, but at the same time-- That bread did smell good.

Grace was bouncing in excitement caught up in Y2K's excitement so the peppy Gammamon said "Digimentals are so cool! Kshin has a couple too. They sure surprised me with how different they are compared to each other. Not to mention his normal form."
"Different is quite an understatement given I am a dragon that can armor digivolve into mammals. Maybe you might find some interesting Digimentals yourself, Duke." Kshin said.
"Speaking of Digimentals, what do you armor digivolve into Y2K? It probably is something cool, right?" Grace asked grinning and practically bouncing with energy.
"I know how it feels to want to be strong but I know it takes time and hard work. Strength is a trait dragons like us are known for so I have a feeling you will one day become something awesome!" Kshin said before he continued "Duke, you are beginning to remind me of my little sister, Lilly. She's a Guilmon kinda like you and she told me she also wants to be strong so she can protect those she cares about. Doesn't that sound nice."
Kshin and Grace began to giggle as Duke tried to convince Y2K to eat the bread that Rai brought with him. It was playful and cute for them to see.

Rai caught that look "Some stuff is more personal than others. Not all good to air right away." he said plainly. "Its not all fun to talk or hear about, and we just met each other." he blinked before looking to Kshin, Grace and Mona.
"I haven't even worked up to opening up about those things with these three yet, and we've done a little bit more than meet before." there was nothing harsh in the way he was saying any of it. In fact there was little emotion or emphasis offered at all to accompany the words. "Lets just eat and try to be friendly for now."
Y2K seemed reluctant. He wasn't swayed by the bread smelling or tasting good, but cajoling him to eat some of it together made him consider it. He knew it wasn't poisonous, he just didn't like the idea of eating something that wasn't made of data as he understood it. "Well... I'll try a tiny bit if it makes you happier!" he still didn't think he'd like it, but it seemed to be important to Duke.
Grabbing a pinch of the bread and touching it with his antenna hesitantly before biting it with some of his small pointy teeth, and noting it didn't degrade into even a little bit of binary. He extended his tongue comically, almost like a frog; there was a digital hazard mark on it, which was quickly hidden by the bread as it disappeared into his oversized mouth, never to be seen again.
"Meh. Do you like it Duke?" Surely it was quite tasty bread, but Y2K didn't seem impressed.
Y2K answered Grace's question with what sounded like his best impression of Rai. "Gizumon-AT, The Stoic Machine" after which he stuck out his tongue again, this time childishly "Nyeh!"
"The Digimental of Stoicism. Neither of us really like it to be honest. It makes Y2K all stoic while he's Gizumon... creeps me out a little I'll be honest." Rai elaborated. The armor form making Y2K not act like Y2K was to Rai a defect, but until the little guy could reach champion level on his own, it was still better to have it than not.

Duke grins as Y2K at long last tries out the bread and the Guilmon X isn't too far behind him, take a piece. Squishing it between the flats of his claws, giving it a closer inspection of a sniff, before just chomping it down. Chomp chomp chomp goes the bread between the sharp little teeth that he has, before at last just swallowing it.
The Guilmon X sticks his tongue out a little, before he gives a nod to Y2K. "Not the greatest but would do in a pinch! Can't be picky some days!" It is after he says this, does he look over to Rai. He studies the human a bit more, with a flick of his tail. "I-- can understand that. Yes. Rai is a fellow of secretes, yes? Doesn't like to share till he trusts, yes? I-- I can understand that." Duke gives a nod of his head. "Though Duke will also remember that too."
His ear fins twitch as he also catches up on the whole thing about 'armors', though he missed some of it. It was mostly Rai talking about what it does to Y2K in personality. The Guilmon X rumbles lowly, not seeing in agreement by all this, but just pads away a little, before he plops down on the ground to sit. He looks then over to Kshin as he talks about his sister, "It-- does sound nice. I-- I think I use to protect people too, before..." He falls off a little, with his head tilting gently. "At least I think I did? I hope I did... Cause yeah, it sounds nice. It does."
For a bit the Guilmon X stays quiet, then when he at last pipes up, "Y2K, The-- armor changes your personality right? Do-- does anyone know why? Isn't that-- Isn't that kind of scary? Too-- become something else?" He then looks over to Kshin, "Do-- you also change in personality too?"

Duke seemed to be able to convince Y2K to try some of the bread Rai brought but didn't seem to enjoy it all that much since it wasn't made of data. Grace grabbed some meat apples and digi noir and fluttered around setting one of each near Rai before fluttering over to Y2K and Duke before she said "Here everyone. Have a meat apple and some digi noir."
When Y2K mentioned how different his personality was in his armor form Grace crinkled her nose before she said "Gizumon-AT is a cool looking form but I didn't know a digimon's personality could change so much between digivolutions. Kshin seems to stay the same personality wise as Sorcerimon, Pipismon, and his champion form of Arresterdramon."
"You think you used to protect others? Did you do that in a previous life or something? That could explain why you don't remember." Kshin said. He heard of such a thing happening with digimon. Not all digimon remembered previous lives after all.
"Rai, it's okay to be a private person. Just look at Mona. She is nice even though she doesn't talk much about herself or emote much." Grace said with a smile as she landed.

Rai nodded to Duke, "Thanks for understanding." he was a little annoyed at the Y2K and Duke's underwhelming opinion of the bread after trying a little, but that just meant more for the people who did like it.
"My guess is it has to do with the Digimental drawing power from Stoicism... and Y2K not naturally being stoic at all. It resonates with me I guess, but the crest for what it represents is just sorta forced on Y2K. I like Y2K being his crazy, happy, excitable self. Imagine Y2K sounding like 'Affirmative, I am Y2K.'." giving his voice an stereotypical robot impression.
"Being Gizumon makes me feel all sharp and clear--but also cold and empty. But like in a way that I don't mind it while I'm Gizumon, because thats just Gizumon. Its still weird to think about later." Y2K elaborated.
Rai actually shifted uncomfortably at 'sharp and clear--but also cold and empty.'. That's how he'd made himself after all. Until Y2K came along he hadn't had a problem with it either. Now those solid walls had begun to crumble and he wasn't entirely resisting it. He still kept himself under control, but he'd begun to welcome *some* feelings.
How cruel could it be to stay cold when Y2K had seemingly come into being just for him after all? The whole point had been not to hurt others anymore.
Rai looked interested in the implied concept of reincarnation brought up by Duke. Could Y2K actually be reincarnated from some 22 year-old 2nd Millennium Bug? Nothing implying that beyond his name had ever come up, and he didn't think it would. He let it be a passing thought, and refocused on Duke.
Grace's kind and validating words made him give her a soft smile. "Thanks Grace. And you're right. Mona is demonstrably nice." he said turning his small smile to Mona. "And her suplexes are on point."

The Guilmon X hrms at Kshin's questions. "I-- just.. remember shadows. Murmuring voices." He closes his eyes in thought. "A fight?" He then reaches up and holds his head, giving it a gentle shake. "It's all confusing and makes Duke's head hurt."
He sighs softly, "But I feel like I need to remember, because feels like something bad happened, and I don't know why." He grumps a little at that, before looking over to Rai and Y2K. "Seems odd how it alters you, Y2K, and you speak as if the armor is not you." He tilts his head a little. "Shouldn't it be part of you? Shouldn't it be as natural as evolving?" He looks over to Grace, "Yeah! Like-- you think that is how it should be, even for Y2K."
Duke scratches the side of his head gently with his index claw. "But I know anything about Digiarmors. First time really hearing them talked about. Just seems weird and... unnatural." He shrugs softly. "But then, I could be called unnatural too. After all, Duke is not at all like other Guilmon. Outsider really." He lowers his head a bit. "Loner."
He then smiles and his tail thumps the ground a few times, "But, Duke is happy he has met you all, as Duke doesn't get to talk this often to others!" He even cuts a glace to Rai. Maybe Duke was starting to accept his presence. Maybe.
He then looks at the offered food and oh boy! You know he is going to devour however much they let him eat! Including saying as he devours that delicious food, "Thank you!" Nomph!

"All forms of digivolution can be complex and, while it doesn't always change the personality of the digimon, each form has it's strengths. Though I may not enjoy in getting into battle it is still valuable to be able to digivolve in some manner." Mona said as she set aside the hat she was working on to grab a meat apple and some digi noir. Setting the digi noir next to her she began eating the meat apple. One could not work effectively on an empty stomach after all.
"Still the thought of Y2K being stoic seems odd to me given his personality being so energetic especially with his emotions." Grace said with a smile.
"Though I dislike fighting it does help to be percise. Maybe my percision has to do with my line of work." Mona said before going back to her eating.
Kshin noticed how his innocent question seemed to affect Duke and said "Sorry if my questions upset you in anyway, Duke. I was just innocently curious. Guess I gotta still work on my tact."
"Perhaps you want to remember because it might be important to you at some level. Try not to force it though. It will come to you in time if it really is important." Kshin said.
"Sure you are a little bit different from other Guilmon being a Guilmon X but you don't seem to different compared to other digimon to me. So it is strange you consider yourself an outsider." Grace said smiling as Duke cheered up before she said "It does feel good to talk to others, doesn't it Duke? I like trying to make lots of friends."
When Duke thanked Grace for the offered food she then said "You're welcome, Duke. It's no fun to be hungry. That and if we get to hungry we digimon can't defend ourselves."

"I think part of the problem is the crest on the Digimental is linked to one of my traits, not one of Y2K's." Rai mused while eating another bit of bread.
"Kshin doesn't have a human partner, so the crests on the digimentals he has are all probably resonate directly with traits that are true to himself; which is why he wouldn't really have a change in personality. Everything being channeled is already a part of who he is."
Rai navigated to the digimental in his digivice, staring at the sprite representing it. "Meanwhile, Y2K is assuming a trait that mirrors one of mine, and isn't actually natural to him at all."
Y2K took a little piece of a meat apple and offered it to Rai while sampling some himself. Rai took it and paired it with the bread in his hand, nibbling. It tasted just like real meat, though he questioned again if it had any calories as far as his own body was concerned.
"When I told Y2K not to worry about filling up before," he says looking at Duke. "Is he kinda eats enough data to build a house in Terminus on the regular. I set up and use a few special e-mail addresses to farm lots of spam mail for him to eat. Usually gobbles up 11,000 to 14,000 emails for lunch every day. Imagine if he had to fend for himself." He'd either cause loads of damage like actually eating houses in Terminus, or starve Rai was pretty sure. He didn't even talk about breakfast or dinner.
"So as nice as this stuff is, its really just enjoying snacks with friends to Y2K." Rai stated. "Not that there's anything wrong with that."
Y2K nodded excitedly, bobbing and swaying in place.

Duke looks over to Mona with a sheepish look on his muzzle. "I- actually enjoy fighting." He glances to the side. "I-- I like to challenge myself and train myself." He then looks back at Mona, "And yeah! Precision is good!" He tilts his head, "... what is that you do?" He asks as his ear fin twitches.
Though his attention is drawn to Kshin for a moment, "It is okay and maybe! Hopefully..." Then he looks over to Grace and nods to her. "Yeah! It does." Then rumbles gently, "Even if one is-- strange." He looks over at Rai as he says this, but he does listen to what Rai has to say, not seeming to get much further into 'why' he feels like an outsider or has placed himself into that category of thought.
He blinks his gold eyes a few times, "Uhh--" He then slowly raises his index claw, before tilting his head to the side and giving the human a very puzzled look. "-- What is an email?" Then he blinks again, "... And what is spam?" Before he adds under in rumble. "You humans sure are weird."

"Now that you mention it, Rai, that makes sense. While I don't know the crests of Kshin's digimentals, Sorcerimon seems to represent his love of magic and is his only form that allows him to use any form of magic. As for Pipismon, only attack I saw was called Love Song so Pipismon is a mystery to me." Grace said while scratching her chin trying to figure things out.
"Maybe mine could represent love but I'm not completely sure either." Kshin said while picking up a meat apple.
"Love would so fit not just you but your adopted parents to a tee." Grace said hopping a bit before walking over grabbing a meat apple herself.
Mona showed the faintest hint of a smile before she said "I am a humble seamstress with some talent. If you look over at that tree." She then pointed to the tree where the costumes were still drying and then said "I created those costumes for Kshin and Grace so they could look like profressional performers despite the fact that Kshin is still learning his trade. One day I have a feeling the young one will be the magician he desires to be."
"Humans are strange to us digimon but from what Mandrake has told me both humans and digimon are similar in a lot of ways. Mostly from the philosophical standpoint though since humans don't have wild powers like us digimon." Kshin said after Duke wondered what emails and spam were. "Email, if I remember right, is a means of sending electronic mail through a computer and spam is often junk mail in the email account."

Post by Rai Ryuichi on Jul 18, 2022 8:51:52 GMT
Rai nodded to Kshin.
"Right. Computers exist in the human world, and we use them to create and manage data. E-Mail or Electronic Mail, allows us to send detailed messages for all purposes to other computers, most often text, but also sometimes with pictures and sometimes even viruses--the use of E-Mail is almost universal among humans, so its a given some would abuse it." Rai explained calmly and impassively.
"Spam is junk mail, mostly sent by automated means to as many people as possible-- they can be advertisements, scams, malware, chain letters or even donation solicitations." the human went on.
"Y2K's egg actually came on a suspicious E-Mail and the first thing he did after he was born was eat all of my data that I had on my device. That gave me an idea. Y2K thought of data--in any form I could present him with-- as food. And he ate quite a lot of it." Rai looked up at the sky that was both like and unlike the sky back home.
"I didn't know about the Digital World at the time; So to feed him I made new digital addresses for mail, and willingly submitted the new addresses to as many sources of spam as possible. Now each digital mail box easily gathers more than 10,000 messages every day. Since he breaks everything down to simple 0s and 1s, even the kind of computer viruses humans worry about are harmless to him." the boy shrugged and rubbed the top of Y2K's head gently like he was ruffling non-existent hair.
"In fact most humans don't know what digimon are, and would probably consider Y2K a virus, given that to them he destroys valuable data. Explaining the difference between a computer and a bento box was difficult." he finished blandly.
