Heading towards the Backup Bayou in their vintage convertible with Mandrake driving, Lothar in the passenger seat, and Circe sitting in the back in a booster seat the family had heard rumors of a magic field covering a tiny village in the Bayou that was also rumored to be protected by some sort of love god. While the thought of a love god possibly living anywhere in the Digital World wasn't that weird a concept it was the magic field rumor that had the illusionist's curiosity far more so off they were once again driven by said curiosity of the unknown.
As the Backup Bayou came into sight Mandrake activated the flight system on the car and the boosters came out allowing the car to fly over the bayou. Walking would probably be a bit of a pain for the family of three and if a digimon attacked them they didn't need to worry about coaxing a potentially anxiety ridden Circe out of a tree. When terrified she could be a bit difficult to cope with and at times it made both Mandrake and Lothar feel lost as she was more traumatized than Kshin seemed to be. Yet patience was the key to dealing with Circe and eventually she would be self sufficient but, until then, they would handle things one step at a time.
As they flew soon they came upon a clearing and within the clearing a faint pink shimmer was easily visible. The shimmer felt magical in nature so the rumors of the field were found to be true. Landing the car Mandrake, Lothar, and Circe got out with the young spider child taking Mandrake's hand as the Wizardmon approached the field for a better look. The field seemed weak as if hit with various attacks so maybe... Then Mandrake reached out with his free hand his palm resting on what was clearly a pink barrier before pulling his hand away. Though the barrier was weak it seemed the only thing protecting what was likely the village which left Mandrake not knowing what to do next.

"RAAAGGHH! How hard is it to find a flipping village?! We've been searchign this ruddy swamp for hours!" An angry red Shotmon yelled as he clumsily held a map between his gun-tipped arms. "Not to mention the fact that I'm pretty sure we've passed that viney tree three times already. This stupid map is useless!"
Next to the Shotmon, an exasperated Cameramon merely sighed and rotated the Shotmon's map 180 degrees. "That's because you're holding the map upside down, Rico."
Rico silently stared at the map for a moment before simply handing the map to the Cameramon. "Well, why don't you take the map, Cam, if you're so smart! Or better yet, why don't we just ask him?"
Said "him" being a nearby Tuskmon fishing for his next meal in the bayou's murky water. Rico quickly charged towards the large, reptilian digimon, shouting, "HEY! Do you know where the nearest town around here is?!"
The Tuskmon's response was to nonchalantly backhand the incoming Shotmon, sending the gun-toting Digimon flying off into the distance without the dinosaur even looking at him. Cam could only facepalm at his brother's stupidity before trudging forward in the direction his brother flew towards. Why am I the only one who inherited any of our former self's brains?
Meanwhile, Ricochet ended up screaming the entire time he was in the air, eventually crashing facedown into a patch of mud next to a certain Wizardmon's family. "Ow." WC: 240/3000

Suddenly Mandrake's thoughts were interupted as a presence was sensed. Wait. Was it coming from above? The new mind was picked up by both Mandrake and Circe resulting in two pairs of sapphire eyes looked skyward searching for the presence. Before they could spot the stranger he came down in some mud not far from them causing Circe to scream in fright before scrambling for some nearby bushes before climbing into the relative safety of a tree shaking in fear.
Deciding that Circe was fine for the moment, Mandrake glanced briefly at Lothar who nodded before heading to the mud the stranger landed in before he knelt down and asked "Are you alright? That was a rather nasty fall. Is flying normal for you?" For all Mandrake knew flight was normal but perhaps the stranger wasn't so good at landing yet. There were stranger abilities in the Digital World then flight after all.
Meanwhile Lothar had approached the tree Circe had taken refuge in before looking up at the frightened child and said "It's okay, Circe. You can come down now." When Circe shook her head in response Lothar looked at Mandrake not knowing what to do. He couldn't just force the young one out of the tree or it would make matters worse.

"Does it look like it's normal for me?! If Shotmons were meant to fly, we'd have wings! Or rockets! Or something!" Ricochet grumbled as he picked himself out of the mud and cleaned the gunk out of his guns. "I try to ask nicely for directions one time, and that scaly b*****d backhands me into next week!"
After shaking out as much mud as he could, Ricochet finally turned around and noticed Mandrake and his family. The red Shotmon was so startled that he actually jumped backward and aimed his arm guns at them (not that they would actually hurt Lothar and Mandrake due to the level gap between the three). "WHO ARE YOU PEOPLE?! IS THIS AN AMBUSH?! CAM! WHERE ARE YOU?!"
While Rico was panicking, Cameron had finally caught up to his brother. Rico hadn't noticed his approach, and was promptly knocked senseless when Cam karate chopped him on the back of the head with his oversized hand. "Will you calm down before you do something stupid, brother? Well... stupider than pointing live guns at innocent civilians, I mean."
The Cameramon would pick up the delirious Shotmon and carry him over his soldier as he calmly walked up to Mandrake and his family. "I'm terribly sorry about this whole mess. My brother is a reckless idiot with less brain power than a pocket calculator. My name is Cameron, and this trigger-happy moron is my twin brother, Ricochet." WC: 480/3000

While taken aback by the Shotmon's sudden exclamation, mainly due to choice of vocabulary, Mandrake remained right where he was. Yet he did have a good point since Shotmon didn't have wings or rockets but then again what did he know for his and Lothar's eldest son used magic to fly. However the stranger didn't seem to have magic either so he left that alone since it was clear he was backhanded for asking for directions.
Then the Shotmon pointed its guns at people and seemed to be in a panic which was understandable given the situation but now what could Mandrake do since he now had two digimon in a panicked state to deal with. Deciding to take this situation one digimon at a time he put down his staff holding his hands in a placating manner as he said "Easy there, friend. I mean you no harm. I'm sure we can find this Cam you speak of if we head back into the bayou."
However it looked as if searching the bayou was not necessary as a second digimon came up to them karate chopping them though apparently was the Shotmon's brother. An odd approach to get a sibling under control and normally was one Mandrake didn't approve of but this might of been the only option given the state the Shotmon was in.
Then the Cameramon, named Cameron, apologized for his trigger happy sibling whom was named Ricochet. How fitting. "Don't worry, Cameron. No one was hurt we only ended up with two digimon in a panic due to your brother dropping in on us. My name is Mandrake and with me is my fiancé Lothar and in that tree is our daughter Circe."
Speaking of Circe, Mandrake noticed the child still had not come down so he picked up his staff and walked over to the tree where Lothar was still standing and looked up seeing Circe clinging to the tree and still shaking. Holding up one hand she said "Come on, Circe. It's okay. No one will hurt you." Though Circe seemed hesitant she slowly climbed down the tree and grabbed Mandrake's hand before hiding behind the Wizardmon.

After Mandrake introduced himself and his family, Cameron's gaze would shift between Mandrake and Lothar before settling his gaze on Circe, Cam's camera eye visually shifting focus to get a clear look at the child. The young girl was an enigma to Cameron, as he'd never seen a Digimon like her before. As far as he'd known, the only spider-based Digimon were members of the Dokugumon and Arukenimon lines. "Hm, I see."
Child is easily startled and skittish to a severe degree. Potential sign of abuse or neglect? Further observation is needed. Cam noted in his head. He was going to keep an eye on the Wizardmon and Leomon for the time being, at least until he got conclusive evidence of whether or not they'd been the ones to potentially abuse the poor child.
Shifting his focus to avoid looking suspicious, Cameron shifted his gaze to the battered, pink barrier surrounding the village. "Curious. I'm not sure what kind of threat would require such a a barrier to prevent entry to the village."
The Cameramon shifted his unconscious brother onto his left shoulder, freeing up his oversized right arm to punch the barrier in front of him in order to test how strong the barrier was. WC: 686/3000

Mandrake noticed how Cameron's gaze was shifting between him and Lothar before settling on Circe. Was it curiosity? Sure that makes sense seeing as Circe was a brand new species so such potential curiosity was understandable.
Then his focus shifted to the curious barrier protecting the tiny village. "I agree the barrier is curious especially sense it seems to be magical in nature. All I heard about this village is that it is protected by a love god."
When Cam punched the barrier it didn't react negatively from what Mandrake could tell only shimmering a bit. Then the most curious thing happened as a small opening appeared in the barrier but was not big enough for any of them to pass through but an energy beam came through taking form of a holographic image of a pretty badly injured Garudamon. Even injured the Garudamon was a magnificent looking bird digimon. The holographic image looked over the group having a kind and gentle continence to him before he said "Greetings. I am the love god of the village. When the ruthless attacks started I tried to defend the village but after awhile the injuries have built up so I couldn't fight off the nightly attacks so I put up the barrier to protect those in my care while spreading the rumors to bring the help I needed." Garudamon took a deep breath before he then said "The criteria to enter this village has already been met as I can sense you all have strong love in your hearts." He then opened the barrier more before the beam engulfed all of them outside. Being teleported in such a manner was shocking to Mandrake and Lothar as they now stood in what looked like a shrine which was likely to the love god Garudamon. The said Garudamon was sitting on a cushion looking in rough shape.

"A ... love god?" Cameron asked incredulously, giving Mandrake a very confused look. "That sounds highly illogical. The closest things the Digital World has to 'gods' are Yggdrasil, Homeostasis, and the 5 Sovereigns. Maybe the Olympos XII, if you really want to argue that point."
The barrier choosing that moment to open enough to reveal a hologram of an injured Garudamon proclaiming himself the village's love god quickly shut Cameron up, though. The Cameramon's eyes visibly widened as he tried to process that information, even as the Garudamon somehow teleported everyone inside the barrier to what appeared to be a shrine to the self-proclaimed 'love god.'
If one paid close attention to Cameron at that moment, they could almost hear the metaphorical gears grinding in his head as he tried to comprehend what just happened. "How... I-I don't even..."
The blue-screened Cameramon ended up unceremoniously dropping his unconscious brother right on the floor, which ended up waking Ricochet up as his head hit the floor. The scarlet Shotmon rubbed his head in irritation due to the rude awakening, only to pause and look around the Garudamon's shrine. "Alright, I've clearly missed something important here." "How is that illogical? We live in a world where logic often folds in on itself. This love god could just have powers based around love and possibly magic in nature." Mandrake said calmly as he had seen some strange sights in his time his father included.
Cameron wasn't the only one confused by being teleported into a shrine because Mandrake, Lothar, and Circe were in the same boat. Circe looking very nervous especially when she saw the Garudamon in person as she could feel the strength rolling off this digimon even in his injured state. She was basically hiding behind Mandrake snuggling her face into Mandrake's back but Mandrake didn't seem to mind given how uncomfortable she was around strangers at the best of times.
While Circe was snuggling into Mandrake her sapphire eyes locked onto Cameron noticing how he seemed to be struggling with comprehending the current situation but said nothing even when Cameron dropped his brother on the floor which caused Ricochet to wake up rubbing his head in irritation. "It would seem the rumors of a love god being out here were true. He seems to have transported all of us into his shrine from a small gap in the barrier."
Meanwhile the love god Garudamon was silently sitting not wanting to interrupt just yet but needed to talk to them all and to Ricochet asked "Shotmon it seems you brother is struggling to process what has happened so can you help him?" At Mandrake and Lothar's baffled look he explained himself as he said "I can sense the love in others as well as the type of love they share."

"Oh, did he crash again? Give me a second." Ricochet calmly asked, as if this kind of thing with Cam was a common occurrence. The Shotmon quickly got to his feet, did a quick arm stretch, and quickly smacked Cam in the face. "That should probably do it."
The blow managed to effectively snap Cam out of his stupor, after which the Cameramon sighed and rubbed his sore cheek with his normal-sized hand. "This was for earlier, wasn't it? I guess I probably deserved that."
"You're darn right you did!" Rico agreed, before turning to the Garudamon. "Anyways, what's this business about a love god?"
"Apparently, this Garudamon is a 'love god' that's been protecting this village from something that's been attacking every night for a while now." Cam explained, his voice heavily laced with skepticism. "Although I highly doubt that this Garudamon is truly a god. A powerful guardian with some unique powers, sure, but not a god."
"Meh, I don't really care about that religious junk." Rico casually stated, scratching the side of his head with one of his handguns. "If there's something that needs its butt whooped, then I'm in!"
"Of course you would, brother. However, I fail to see why the two of us should get involved unless necessary." Cameron replied, trying to be pragmatic about the situation. "I believe that we should simply find a place to stay for the night, and leave in the morning. If this unknown attacker somehow manages to get through the barrier, THEN we can get involved to stop it, but not a moment sooner."
"Don't be a coward, Cam! How could we ever bring ourselves to take back out home if we just cut and run when things get tough?! How could that conceivably be called JUSTICE?!" Ricochet angrily fired back, getting right up in his twin's face.
As the two brothers argued, an emerald-colored Ghostmon made his entrance, phasing through a wall while carrying medical supplies. "Lord Garudamon, it's time to treat your injuries... oh, I see that you have visitors. Should I return at a later time?" WC: 1229/3000

Everyone watched as Ricochet went over to Cameron and smacked his brother in the face. It seemed to work like a charm as the Cameramon seemed to be back to normal. Then Lothar asked "Wait again? Are these crashes normal for him?"
Garudamon politely listened to the interactions between the brothers before he said "It is true I am no god but with my powers being as unique as they are one can get how a village can make that assumption. The digimon of this village are a simple but kind bunch and I've been here since I was barely older than the little one." When said little one he indicated to Circe who was slightly peeking from her hiding place.
"Don't worry about accommodations. You can stay here tonight. All I ask in return is for you all to help me defeat the ones who have been trying to break through the barrier. I tried to negotiate with them and when that didn't work I fought to protect the village and that is why I am in such rough shape and why I made that barrier to protect the villagers." Garudamon said and smiled at how Ricochet didn't want to cut and run.
Mandrake moved surprisingly well considering Circe was latched to him and went up to Ricochet and Cameron before he said "Ricochet, calm down. There is no reason to get so hostile."
Then an emerald colored Ghostmon entering the room caught Mandrake's attention as he phased through the wall. Circe was observing the ghost digimon as well in awe of the emerald green digimon's appearance. Garudamon turned to the Ghostmon and said "You are more than welcome to treat me. I'm sure my visitors won't mind."

“Ugh, unfortunately yes.” Cameron begrudgingly answered, answering Mandrake’s question. “The downside of embodying the logical half of our core means that my system has a hard time processing illogical concepts like encountering actual gods or dealing with extreme stupidity.”
When Mandrake tried intervening in the twins’ argument, he would be met by both brothers turning their heads towards him and replying in unison (albeit with varying intensities), “Stay out OF THIS!”
“This matter is entirely between my wayward brother and I.” Cameron sternly said to the Wizardmon, pointing at Ricochet with one of his thumbs. “He wants to charge in recklessly while I’m trying to be the pragmatic one here.”
“Pragmatic? PRAGMATIC?! Is that what you call your cowardice?!” Ricochet growled out, his back cables unconsciously starting to load his arm revolvers with fresh ammunition as he spoke.
“I call it trying keep you from getting us both killed, you brain-dead moron.” Cameron shot back, his normally even tone full of anger as his hands clenched into fists.
“Do you honestly think Creed would’ve just left these people to fend for themselves?” Ricochet asked, pointing at Cam’s head with one of his revolvers. Only when the revolver’s hammer clicked backwards, primed and ready to fire, did Ricochet realize just how close he actually was to attacking his brother in anger. The Shotmon quickly moved to move the hammer back in place and manually ejected the bullets in the chamber, before turning away from Cameron and moving closer to Garudamon. Ricochet then quietly stated, “Leave if you want, but I’m staying.”
While that was going on, the Ghostmon merely got to work on treating Garudamon’s wounds, cleaning various cuts or scrapes with disinfectant before applying clean bandages. The Ghostmon had some ability to heal injuries with magic directly, but due to the vast power difference between his Rookie form and Garudamon, said healing magic was extremely limited in its effectiveness. Better to treat as much of it with normal medical practices first. WC: 1567/3000

Mandrake's eyes narrowed in annoyance at the bickering between Cameron and Ricochet while Circe was whimpering. While she had witnessed arguments from a distance the poor thing had never expierienced such intense bickering. Yet Mandrake new hypnotizing one of them would be too extreme even though Ricochet was getting aggressive. As for Lothar he was making a move to get in between the two brothers but it never got that far as Mandrake's stern parent tone sounded out as he said "All right that's enough! While I understand that both sides of your argument are logical bickering when we all were brought into the barrier to help these villagers is not getting anything positive done. Look at what your nonsense is doing. You are frightening Circe. Not only that she is younger than both of you and is acting far more mature than either of you right now."
"Our host did say the attacks happen at night so perhaps instead of fighting amongst yourselves we all should take up Garudamon's offer to stay the night. He did bring us in since he needed help." Lothar calmly said. Somehow he was the peak of calm despite the frustration he was feeling at the childish bickering.
Meanwhile while getting treated Garudamon sighed since yes all these digimon had love in their heart but one of them was hotheaded in his passions but Garudamon knew at this point he couldn't afford to be choosy since the enemies would come again tonight.

After Mandrake's stern interruption broke up the argument between the two brothers, Cameron let his gaze flicker between Mandrake and Circe before closing his eyes and turning away. "Fine. I suppose it is only logical to at least see our opposition first. At the very least, we'll help out for tonight and discuss the situation again in the morning."
Ricochet quietly nodded his head at Cam's concession in acceptance. When he spoke, his tone as a lot quieter, what with the Shotmon having been somewhat cowed by Mandrake's lecture. "Alright, I can work with that for now. Now, if we're doing this, then we need to do this right. Which means we need a plan."
Rico then pointed at the Ghostmon tending to Garudamon's injuries and addressed the little ghost. "You there, what can you do to help?"
The sudden address caught Beck off-guard, causing him to almost drop the roll of bandages he was currently using to wrap around part of Garudamon's arm. "Who, me? Well, I suppose my Champion form is an undead-type swordsman, although I don't like using it if I can avoid it. It reminds me too much of... dark days. However, if it's truly necessary, I suppose I can bring DeathMusyamon into the fold once more."
"Your stance is understandable." Cameron replied, nodding his head at the reasoning the Ghostmon gave for not liking his digivolution. "Hopefully it won't be needed, but there's no predicting how this battle will go." WC: 1812/3000

Garudamon sat there quietly as the argument between the two brothers came to an end. Thank goodness for that since the last thing they needed was in fighting especially with a threat coming their way that night. He looked at Mandrake sensing the energy of two digimentals coming from within the Wizardmon's body. 'Hmm. Maybe they can..' Garudamon quietly thought before, out loud, he said "Perhaps there is a way you two brothers could help out but it's a long shot mind you as I don't know if it could work."
"What do you mean, Garudamon? What would be a long shot?" Mandrake asked genuinely curious as to what the love god meant.
"I sense traces of digimentals coming from you so I was thinking that perhaps the two brothers could maybe utilize the power they possess. However it's a long shot since I don't know if they are the ones destined to wield these particular digimentals. You know how they work only for one chosen wielder and there are two digimentals in the back of this shrine." Garudamon explained as Beck explained what he was able to do to help if necessary.
"It's understandable to what to only use fighting as a last resort. I'm not fond of fighting myself and other than needing a plan Circe will need to be put in a safe place as she is much too young to be potentially being involved in a fight with an ultimate since she can't digivolve as of yet." Mandrake said.
"If the Shotmon and Cameramon are interested then after my injuries are treated I can open the passage to the digimentals." Garudamon said.
