Name: Honoka Nijimura
Alias: Nijika
Age: 15
Gender: Female
Height: 152 cm
Weight: 38.5 kg
Birth Date: September 28
Birth Place: Tokyo
Appearance: Standing at barely five feet in height, and a bit on the thin side, it’s easy to assume that Honoka is a delicate individual, and unless pressed Honoka won’t do anything to belie expectations. Whether she’s sitting, standing, or walking, her posture is immaculate, and she always speaks just a bit softer than the person she’s speaking to. Not an affluent teenager, and the only girl of four children, Honoka doesn’t have much variety in the way of outfits, so she tends to have fairly plain, all-purpose outfits, though her personal tastes end up on the cutesy, frilly, almost childish fashion sense. Her bright pink hair is something of an anomaly, as Honoka claims that it’s perfectly natural, and seems confused as to why people would assume otherwise.
FaceClaim: YUGIOH ARC-V • Yuzu Hiiragi • Honoka Nijimura
Athleticism - A kinesthetic genius, Honoka’s reflexes, coordination, and sense of balance are unparalleled amongst her peers. Her squalid lifestyle has made it difficult to build muscle, but she’s light enough that it hasn’t been an issue.
Musically-Inclined - With a sense of rhythm and a strong voice to match, Honoka can be a talented singer. Her singing skills have been self-taught so far, and there’s probably a few more things she could improve, but she kills it at karaoke.
Dance Floor Darling - While gymnastics is something that Honoka loves to work towards, and singing is something that she enjoys, Honoka’s truest passion is in dancing. If she’s alone, it’s not uncommon to see her moving and grooving, whether there’s something playing or not!
Honor Student - While she’s a genius at moving with her body, her academic talents are barely above average at best. But she’s serious about her studies and works hard to be around the top of her class.
Modernity Slayer - She may be a teen, but due to her financial status and overall lack of time and interest, Honoka hasn't kept up too well in the technology department. In fact, most high-tech equipment always seems to get damaged in her hands.
Butt-Buster - For all of Honoka’s talents, none of them would mean anything if she didn’t have the motivation to work hard. She actively works hard to be the best self she can be, often to the detriment of her happiness.
Honoka’s got it all - cute as a button, athletically-gifted, good grades, easily approachable... it sometimes appears like Honoka’s a perfect student; maybe even the perfect person! Once she sets her mind to it, it seems like there’s nothing she can’t do! Everyone sees Honoka as a confident, dependable young woman who gets the job done, but who’s humble and of high moral standing!
And thankfully for Honoka, most everyone believes in her guise, though the reality is far from appearances. That’s because Honoka places a great deal on how other people see her. Honoka is a gifted individual, to be sure, but other than moving her body around, nothing comes easy to her, and once people started to take notice of her accomplishments she’s been struggling to meet others' expectations ever since.
But Honoka will work her hardest to meet those expectations, because there are fewer people with a lower opinion of Honoka than Honoka herself. While most people will look to her talents and achievements, Honoka only ever takes notice of her failures, and the criticisms made towards her, whether they’re valid or not. She thinks little of herself as a person, and desperately wants to hide what she considers her ugliest parts.
And deep down, there’s a sense of pride within her. She’s proud of her physical abilities, of her musical talents, and how hard she’s worked in everything else. Most of the time she comports herself as a modest, culturally-appropriate Japanese girl, but she’s quite bold and isn’t afraid to stand up for herself or others when she feels it’s necessary. However, Honoka doesn’t believe in solving issues with violence, at least not right away. She condemns brutish behavior, and only fights as a last resort, when it’s obvious nothing else will get through.
But despite all of Honoka’s self-loathing, some of others' perceptions of her are true. When she’s helping someone in need, she’s hardly ever thinking of how good it makes her look. She has a moral compass that isn’t easily swayed and she’s always trying to do the right thing.
And while she really is a cordial person, though most of her friendships are shallow at best, as her prospects keep her so busy she hardly ever has time to deepen her relationships with her peers. She’s not opposed to growing closer to others, though, and tries to make time whenever she can. A good way to get Honoka to make room for you in her schedule is to take her out dancing, or karaoke, or to go running, though the latter option can bring out her more competitive side. If you attempt to pass Honoka, what starts out as a light jog will no doubt end in a full-on sprinting race.
And as for romance? Sad to say, but Honoka’s a tough nut to crack. In Honoka’s eyes, anyone who would be interested in her like that would only like her for who she comports herself to be, and she’s much too scared to show the horrific, self-loathing, mess of anxiety underneath. And she wouldn’t be interested in anyone who would be okay with a shallow relationship.
But other than her crippling self-loathing, Honoka has a couple of other weaknesses. Due to some childhood trauma, she’s dreadfully scared of the dark and is reduced to a shivering, crying ball when left alone in pitch black places. And Honoka is oddly superstitious, and is dreadfully afraid of the supernatural. She places a heavy amount of respect towards the departed, and refrains from doing anything that would disturb their eternal rest.

Personal History
While she’s referred to as “princess” by one of the worst people alive, In reality, Honoka’s life is anything but. The Nijimura family never had anything regarding wealth, but they had each other. Honoka was the youngest of four children to an overworked-but happily married couple, owners of a small flower shop in the Greater Shibuya area. The only daughter, Honoka was perhaps spoiled just a bit more than her three brothers were, but even when she was young she tried to pull her own weight, if only because that’s what everyone else was doing.
But about the time Honoka started school, she began to stand out from her siblings and peers in peculiar ways. When watching television with the family, often later that night, or the next morning she could be seen near-perfectly reenacting the dance, or god-forbid, pro-wrestling maneuvers off the couch. It was clear that the girl was gifted at moving her body, and it was something Honoka’s mother wanted to nourish. After all, what parent doesn’t want to see their child flourish and succeed?
Thus came the lessons, the ballet, the performances... Then came gymnastics, and soon it felt like it was all a bit too much for the little Honoka. She was definitely having fun at times, but she remembered the joy she got when her family and friends watched her dance and perform, and sure all these strangers watching and clapping was nice, but it didn’t feel the same to her. Honoka had started to get burned out by the arduous practice, then resting solely so she could practice some more. Her performances began to waver along with her motivation, but her mother just told her to push through it, that it was something that Honoka had to get used to. Honoka did what was told of her, but she began to resent her mother by the day.
Until nearly her 9th birthday, where she found out that she would have to spend her birthday traveling and performing, even though she wanted to spend it with her friends and family. It was a long drive with just Honoka and her mother, and one that didn’t end with them at their destination, but instead with Honoka pinned in the backseat of their family car, for hours surrounded by nothing but blackness where her mother lay, unmoving.
After the accident, Honoka just shut down for months on end. She began to blame herself for what happened, that maybe if Honoka hadn’t been so selfish and had stopped arguing with her mother, that maybe she wouldn’t have been so distracted and would have noticed... She and her brothers would have a mother, and her father a wife. But no one blamed Honoka for any of it. They just tried to get through it together, the best they could. And time moved onwards.
Honoka’s oldest brother, Daichi, moved on to university. He was always interested in literature and wanted to become a teacher, or failing that, a literature teacher or something. Anything but take over the now run-down flower shop their dad ran. And no one could blame him for wanting some space.
But that responsibility would be taken on by Eiji, the middle brother. After graduating, instead of moving on he stayed with the family, working more part-time jobs and helping out the shop whenever he could. He was always Honoka’s closest friend, and it was only typical of him to stick around and help out, as he never seemed to have anything better to do.
Then there was the menace that was Naoki, Honoka’s older brother by less than a year. The loss of their mother hit him the hardest, as he, like Honoka, shut down for a good while. He started getting into more and more trouble, and dropped out of school entirely, presumably to hang with some local street thugs or whatever.
And as for Honoka herself, after her grieving, and watching her brothers begin to move on, she realized why her mother did what she did. She just wanted the brightest possible future for Honoka, and even if Honoka had to suffer for a little while, if she could live up to her potential then she could become better off than anyone. It wasn’t something Honoka completely agreed with, but she decided the best thing she could do to honor her mother was to truly give her all in everything she did.
And whether it’s in her academics, gymnastics, or gaining an alien device that lets her summon up the power of ghost fairies, Honoka intends to do just that.
