The cavern was empty, damp, and dim. The air within held deathly still, with that stillness occasionally being broken by drafts of wind from a newly formed opening. The smell of mildew and lichen wafted through the cavern, brushing by crudely sculpted rock formations that resembled household furnishings. Various chairs with cushioning made out of what looked to be mushroom caps and fungal fibers were strewn about the cave, as well as bedding made of similar materials. One might call the space "lived in" if not for the ambiance it exudes. No, this place wasn't lived in, at least not anymore. The eerie quiet that deafened all those within was only broken by the occasional drip of moisture from above. With this oppressive, eerily quiet atmosphere, you wouldn't be faulted for not realizing there was a single figure standing starkly still in a far corner of the cave. The figure was small in stature, with an indigo body and white muzzle. It had two horn-like protrusions sprouting from its head, with the markings of a frightening face on its forehead. The creature was wearing a black vest with pants that drooped below its ankles. The vest itself left opening for its yellow, frayed wings to poke out of them. Its hot pink eyes stared off into space, adorning its face with a look of deep introspection. The stiffness of its stance almost made him disappear into his surroundings, like just another piece of furniture or stone formation. It tightly gripped the staff in its right hand, and continued to stand in place. This creature is known as Moxius, and was once called by the nickname "Moxie".
Moxie's current state is due to the recent death of his sister. She was the only being he was close to, the only one he knew in fact. This space was once sealed off completely from the outside world, leaving the two of them to survive in isolation. They used to rely on each other for everything, eating the Digishrooms that occasionally grew on the cave wall with one another. They figured that they must've come from somewhere, and even questioned if they were intentionally sealed within this cave. Even if the prospect of finding someone else outside of their home was intriguing, they never once attempted to break their way out of it. The two of them were content with leading a simple life with nothing but one another. This only begged the question, why did she need to die.
The day this cave was opened up was a hard one for Moxie to look back on, but the gaping hole with small glints of light shining through it made it difficult for it to evacuate his mind. The visage of those two winged beings breaking into their home was seared into his mind. Every time he closed his eyes, he saw the rubble collapse and the light beam through the opening. Their casual conversation was drowned out by his adrenaline and shock. It all happened in the span of about two minutes, but in that time they had managed to take everything Moxie had ever cared about away from him. As he thought about it a bit too much, Moxie let out a loud, guttural scream without even realizing at first. He'd then finally look around, wondering how long he had been lost in thought for.

How long had it been? Days? Weeks maybe? His legs and arms ached from standing in one position for as long as he did. It was amazing that he even had the strength to hold himself up at this point, having fallen asleep multiple times in this position. Alas , if he didn't move around to eat something soon, he'd probably start getting thinner and eventually starve. Begrudgingly he began to dredge along to the nearest cavern wall, scraping his feet along the debris-covered floor.
Making his way over to the wall, he'd pick off one of the many overgrown digishrooms that was sprouting from it., then shuffle over to his "Dinner Table" which was also formed out of stone. He'd sit down, slowly tilting his head upwards to see the empty seat across from him. It donned on him that this was the first meal he would be eating alone, and with that his vision began to go blurry. His past, all of his pleasant memories overlapped, causing him to see all that was taken from him at once. Blurry effigies panned across his his eyes as he felt himself tilt to the side, eventually collapsing out of his chair and onto the ground. The only thing that filled his mind was rage. He wanted to scream out in anger, let out every emotion he'd been keeping within him for these past days, but he realized that he wasn't able to no matter how hard he wished to. His mind was white hot with anger, but he wasn't lost in it. Infact, he was now thinking much clearer than he had since he began his stooper. He now knew exactly what he wanted to do, it almost scared him how clairvoyantly clear it suddenly became. He'd destroy those responsible, and all those they cared about. He'd make sure that they never got to enact their will upon others ever again, Moxie would get back to his feet, and quickly scarf down the mushroom that was sitting on the table. He was now determined to take away whatever those winged bastards had, and stop them from doing anything that they were trying to do. By whatever means necessary, he'd make sure to make their lives as empty and hollow as they made his. He didn't even know who they were, how many of them there were, or what their goals were. In fact, for all he knew everyone outside of his home was now an enemy. I didn't matter, because he had spent enough time dawdling around in his own woes.
Moxie tore the sheet off of his bed, and grabbed the stalk of an especially long mushroom.. He'd stash as many mushrooms as he could into the sheet, as they were practically the only things he could take with him.Tying off the sheet to the stalk, he'd create an impromptu bindle. Throwing it over his shoulder, he'd then take one final look around the home he knew for all his life, before stepping out into the unknown.

How long had he wandered? Hours this time? Days? It all became a blur to him. Between the hunger, thirst, and aching of his muscles, Moxie hardly had the energy to spend on the passage of time. All he could do is keep walking, and he couldn't stop no matter what. His small legs kicked away piles of black rocks as he continued. While the cave was much brighter in this area than it was in his sealed-off compartment, the cave was still swept in an inky abyss. That didn't bother Moxie much, as his eyes were very adjusted to seeing in nearly pitch darkness. He stopped only to eat the stray digishroom growing out of a wall or crevice. Apparently, his home was some kind of closed ecosystem before which allowed them to grow much more frequently, go figure. Still, he was finding just enough to keep him going. As his clouded mind stumbled through the abyss, he was suddenly alert as he heard a distinct click, and the level of his planted foot became lower. Out of some primal instinct, or possibly sheer shock, Moxie dove forwards, narrowly avoiding the swing of a suspended axe blade as it cleaved through the space he was just occupying. Before he even had the chance to catch his breath, yet another click. The floor just below him began to crumble, revealing a pit filled with pointed spikes underneath. The Digimon scattered and scampered over the crumbling debris, not daring to look back as he felt his heels lose traction. After a minute that felt like a lifetime, he reached stable ground once more, and was able to catch his breath.
All of this was just outside his home? Just what kind of place even was this? Moxie had lived his entire life in that crevice, he and his sister even hatched there, so why was all of this deadly stuff laid out so close to them? How did they even end up being born in a place like this? So many questions, so few answers, The only thing he knew for sure was that he had to keep moving. Moxie collected himself and kept on, this time being much more observant of his surroundings. His eyes darted from left to right, up and down as he kept going, suddenly mustering the strength to pick up his pace. Before he knew it, he was running. To where, he had no idea, but the fear of the cave had all set in at once. Everything he knew resided in this darkness, and without her, the darkness was all that remained. It was now suffocating, each step echoing endlessly in too many directions to count. He hadn't even thought twice about the darkness before, Why was he terrified now? His heart, head, and feet all raced at once as he searched for an answer with each one of them. All at once, they all seemed to give him an answer. It was because his sister had always been with him before. As soon as that hit, as soon as the despair was about to overtake him, the world seemingly turned to ivory.
It was bright, brighter than anything he'd ever seen. At first, fear struck as Moxie held up his hands defensively, before finally mustering up the courage to look up. A thousand lights were shining down from the ceiling. Only, it was hard to tell how far up it was. Moxie tried reaching for it, and nothing. He jumped, even flew up a fair bit, and it only seemed to get further away. This place, wherever this was, it had no ceiling. Just lights, intertwined in the sea of endless darkness above. Around him were rocks, and stones, but also plants he had never seen before, once that grew much bigger than he had thought they could. This sight, to any other Digimon, would be a repulsive one. A desolate wasteland of crooked trees and dead land. To Moxie, though, this was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. A smile grew on his face, he was so excited to share that he instinctively looked to his left and began to say "Hey Sis chec-...". The smile quickly left him, what did he have to smile about anyway? There was nobody standing beside him, not anymore. This pain, this hurt that he felt, he only knew one thing about it. Even after living a simple, sheltered life, he knew what to do with this pain. Let it out.
