Well well, this was definitely an ask that Sophie did not expect. That morning, one of the unread messages on her D-Terminal was from someone she knew only vaguely, yet, the effect of her on Shibuya from a year ago was immense. And to receive this message, well, this certainly was an interesting thing to wake up to.
After the morning routine shower, Sophie got dressed and prepared breakfast in the AEGIS headquarters. Eventually she was joined by her partner Lantis, the Leomon’s fur damp from his own shower as he sat down on a stool by the kitchen counter.
“Hmm, you’ve got an anxious look on your face, Soph, what’s up?” he asked.
“I got this message overnight.” Sophie answered, and passed her D-Terminal to him while she put food on their plates. Lantis looked at it curiously, then he gasped when he realized who it was from.
“...Agent Tiger?!” he asked. “The one from DATS?!”
“Ex-DATS, but yeah, looks like it’s from her.” Sophie said, finishing her preparations of breakfast and served it to her partner and herself, letting Lantis read the message.
AEGIS,
Since DATS became defunct, I have been doing my best to secure the location of my son Kazuo, lost in the digital world for many years. When his partner digimon Jiro appeared and bonded with me, we sought to work with them so that we could find and rescue him, but of course, we were unsuccessful.
Our former boss, Director Suzuki, merely wanted to use the organization as a means for his own political gain, and thankfully he has been caught out and is now serving a lengthy sentence in prison. But of course, I still intend to locate my son.
I have obtained something of a lead, that he is located somewhere in the dubious realm of Old Terminus. My lead is a Mr. Puppetmon, who seems to know of Kazuo’s last location, and is willing to lead me to it, but I would prefer not to go alone.
I would be grateful if at least three of your agents would be able to accompany me to that location. I would prefer to not involve my former DATS comrades in this, nor anyone else. I trust that AEGIS will approach this in a professional manner. Please let me know as soon as possible if you can or cannot assist me in this.
Kind regards,
Nami, aka “Agent Tiger”.
“This… is difficult.” Lantis admitted. “Former DATS agent with a dubious Puppetmon leading her into Old Terminus… I don’t really like this, Soph.”
“Neither do I.” Sophie answered. “But, thinking about this from her perspective, what choice does she have? With DATS dissolved, AEGIS is the first place she can turn to. And… well, I think we should at least go and help her. It’s her son after all, and that’s what we’re all about, protecting humanity from digimon threats. And if he’s trapped and alone in Old Terminus… god, I’d hate to picture what threats he’d be facing down there.”
“So should we send Colin and Tadayoshi there?” Lantis asked, supposing that Sophie was keen on taking on this task. Sophie pondered, then shook her head.
“No, I think we should do this personally, Lan.” she answered. “It’s been a while since we’ve done a mission, and I suppose you’d like some action as much as I do.”
Lantis grinned here. “Heh. You’re right. I’d love to be on the front line again. So, who should we take with us?”
Sophie pondered. With her gone, she would prefer both Colin and Tadayoshi to be on alert. “I think… Vergil would be good for this. He needs some mission experience since he evolved his partners to Perfect. And… I think Hisato would be another.”
“Hisato?” Lantis repeated, tilting his head with curiosity. “Who is he?”
“A tamer that seems to be a good candidate to become an AEGIS Agent. Seems pretty level headed, and has strong digimon partners. I think this would be the ideal scenario to see how they’d operate as agents.”
“Hm. Alright, I can agree to that.” Lantis said. They finished their breakfast and then Sophie would send messages to both Vergil and Hisato that if they were available, to convene at the Shibuya Trailmon Terminal in 2 hours. And there, they would board a Trailmon to Terminus City, along which Sophie would brief them on the message she received.
