Alucard and Poseidon followed Rai and Y2K into the Chili Pepper Tavern. Upon feeling the cool air on him Poseidon let out a relieved sigh as he said "Finally sweet cool air! This region is a bit too hot for my liking. Dad can we go somewhere with a river or maybe the ocean next time? We haven't gone swimming in forever."
"I'll take you swimming as soon as I can. You just have to wait for a while longer." Alucard said which made the young Gomamon smile his tail swishing happily at the prospect of not just going swimming but maybe he could get his dad to swim with him.
Then Rai took Y2K up to the bar to ask a Lilamon behind the bar about foods specialized for digimon with metabolisms that were absurdly high. The flowery digimon smiled before it said "Of course we do. Some digimon need the extra nutrients after all." The digimon's tone was bubbly and friendly as if indicating an extroverted personality type. Smiling she dug around before pulling out what looked like a specialty menu and said "This menu has things on it that have the data needed to feed digimon with the needs you mentioned." As she handed it out to Rai she took note of Alucard and Poseidon before she said "So handsome. Do you or the young one have special dietary needs too or do you need the regular menu?"
"Just the regular menu is necessary, ma'am." Alucard said in a cold but still polite tone. Lilamon smiled and brought out the requested menu and after accepting the menu from her and saying thanks he turned to walk over to a table with Poseidon before hearing Y2K faceplant on the floor. "Are you alright, Y2K?" he asked.

Y2K seemed happy where he was and answered Alucard. "Yes! The floor is nice and cool! Ehehekeke!"
"I'd like to buy what you think would be most appropriate. I think the little guy could eat a house in Terminus if I let him." he said looking at his prone partner. "Buddy, I don't think the floor is the best place for you to chill out."
"But RaaaaaaiiiiI!" whined the Keramon, managing to lift (or roll) his head up while keeping the entire rest of his body on the floor. "Heat goes up! So the floor is the best because its the lowest!"
Rai while impressed Y2K understood heat rises, was not impressed with his logic that this meant Y2K needed to lay on the floor to cool off the best. "If you stay there you'll eventually warm up the spot. Then what will you do?"
"I'll roll over!" Y2K explained.
"Y2K the air inside is cool enough and it won't heat up from you standing in it. Get off the floor before someone steps on you." Rai insisted flatly while putting his thumb and fore fingers on his eyebrows.
Y2K slithered up the bar and put his hands and mouth on the edge of the bar, gnawing a few 1s and 0s off, before Rai grabbed him and held him under his arm.
"Sorry about that." the tamer said to the Lilamon.

Apparently Y2K was just being silly and was perfectly fine as it seemed he was just trying to cool off quickly with an unorthodox method of using the cool floor to do so. Sure Rai and Y2K had valid points of their own but Alucard knew there was another good reason not to lay on the floor. "I think laying on the floor is a bad idea, Y2K. Rai is right. You could get stepped on by someone that might not see you if it gets busy. " Alucard said in a calm logical but still cold tone.
Y2K made his way up to the bar before gnawing on the counter. Fortunately Rai had things under control and stopped the hungry Keramon. Lilamon smiled and said "Don't worry about it. I understand the little one is hungry and he didn't do more damage than minor teeth marks. This bar has been through far worse."
Meanwhile Poseidon was climbing up the stool using his front flippers to pull himself up there while kicking his stubby back legs. It was a struggle but he was able to get himself seated near Rai and Y2K. Alucard shrugged and sat down next to Poseidon while looking at the menu in his hands. Meanwhile Lilamon had set the specialty menu in front of Rai.

Rai looked at the specialty menu while he held his partner under his arm.
"I guess he'll have the 'Gigadra-Bite Burger' and a 'Data Pack Shake'?" Rai asked, entirely unsure of what was involved beyond a burger and shake that supposedly had loads more data in it. He hoped the burger's name was implying it was a gigabyte burger. He hadn't got much recognition of that term in the digital world so far.
"Oooh! Sounds tasty!" said Y2K. Rai sometimes wondered if there were words used to describe something that didn't sound tasty to him.
Rai had considered putting down the menu to help Poseidon get up, but he was already holding one digimon, and the Gomamon's father was there if anything--including the barstool-- went sideways.
"So I hope its not a rude question... but are those spheres in your chest eyes or something?" Rai wasn't sure how Alucard's species perceived their surroundings. Alucard had a helmet-- mask?-- that covered his eyes completely. Yet the digital angel showed no signs that the metal headwear was even present, or obstructing his view.

While Rai ordered food for his partner Lilamon nodded and wrote down the order while Alucard was looking at the menu while showing it to Poseidon who was now comfortably sat on the barstool. Sure the young one was far from an efficient climber but Alucard understood Poseidon was trying to show independence and if he needed help he would of asked his Angemon father to help him if it came to that.
After looking over the menu for a while Alucard said "I would like fried curry rice and a chocolate shake." Granted he didn't always indulge in his sweet tooth he figured after roaming the desert there was no harm.
Meanwhile Poseidon looked over the menu before his eyes settled on something simple but charming as he said "I would like to have the four cheese macaroni and garlic potatoes please. Oh and the chocolate shake too!"
"I'll get right on those orders so don't worry." Lilamon said with a smile before she said "Be back shortly." She headed back to the kitchen to submit the orders to the chefs.
When Rai asked about the spheres on Alucard's chest the Angel digimon faintly smirked before he said "No they aren't my eyes. They are more along the lines of accessories and nothing more. My eyes are located underneath my mask but I can see just fine through the mask."
"I don't know how Angemon masks work but if it works for the species who am I to judge. All I know is that the handful of times I've seen Dad without his mask is that he has pretty blue eyes." Poseidon said not bothered by Alucard's equivalent of a stern glare which involved a very faint twitch of the lip but it was very hard to notice for those who didn't know what to look for.

"So you just see through solid objects or is it only this very particular solid object?" Rai further quizzed. What were the limits on this seeming brand of x-ray vision?
"Do you have to be wearing it, or could you take it off and use it to obstruct a helmet sized hole in the wall so only you could see through the hole?" odd thing to consider but hopefully he wasn't being too intrusive. Alucard would just say so right? Yeah probably.
Y2K who had been playing the part of a ragdoll for the most part under Rai's arm began raising his head and snapping at the air as if to gobble it up. "Foooood!" seemed to be the only thing on his mind now.
"You need to wait for it to be prepared and brought out." Rai said to his previously limp buddy.
"But I've beeeeen waiting! Waiting long time! Loong--!" the Keramon whined. Once more, and louder than the first time, Y2K's Schrödinger's tummy growled like an angry Monochromon.
Rai actually looked slightly nervous. "It will be really tasty if you can wait for it. Tastier than E-mail. I promise." He wasn't sure what he would do if he lost control of Y2K and he actually started eating stuff in earnest. It would cost them more than a few teeth marks.
"You promise?" Y2K seemed to digest those words. "Okaaaaay!"
Well that was good for now. He just hoped it would last long enough for the food to actually arrive. He wasn't going to try and rush Lilamon. That would be rude and wouldn't get Y2K his meal any faster...

It was clear that Rai was still interested in learning now wanting to understand how Alucard's mask worked so the Angemon said "I don't have x-ray vision but my mask somehow lets me see through it even though it is solid. Maybe there is something about the mask that allows Angemon to see through them but I'm not sure. As for taking it off, yes I can take it off any time I want or need to. After all it does need cleaning at times."
Y2K seemed to be getting impatient as he waited for the order to be prepared and before Alucard and Poseidon could say anything Lilamon set a plate of sliced fruits down on the bar and said "Here, little one. This should hold you over until the food is ready. Don't any of you worry about paying since this one is on me. It's something from the appetizer section of the specialty menu I showed you."
"At least that should be enough to help, Y2K. It must be rough to need so much to eat." Poseidon said was Lilamon smiled and walked away again.

So that was a maybe on if it could be used as a one way window if lodged in a gap while Alucard wasn't wearing it.
The moment Rai put the Keramon down, Y2K picked up the plate and deposited the entire thing, fruit and dish into his mouth, having zero trouble reducing the fruit and whatever the plate was made of to 1s and 0s of primitive data which vanished down his mysterious gullet.
Rai might have tried to stop Y2K from eating the plate, but he wasn't putting his hands anywhere near the little guy's mouth while he was hungry.
He looked deadpan to the Lilamon. "And the plate?", clearly that hadn't been intended to be consumed, but Rai wasn't sure what he expected now. He was prepared to pay for the lost dishware.
"Buddy, I'm pretty sure you were only supposed to eat what was -on- the plate..." Rai sighed. "Please don't eat the -plate- your burger comes on... or whatever your shake -comes in-. It's rude."
"Hmmmn... Still hungry!" Y2K said as if he had contemplated Rai's words and only come to the conclusion that he needed more food.
Rai sighed and looked to the Lilamon. "I'm sorry about this."

Alucard and Poseidon watched as Rai put Y2K down. The hungry Keramon then grabbed the plate of sliced fruit before devouring it plate and all surprising the father and son duo. It looks like Y2K was hungrier than they first thought. "Wow." was all Poseidon finally got out after staring gaping at the Keramon.
"Wow indeed." Alucard said in agreement as he looked over to Lilamon after Rai spoke to her.
She smiled before she said "Looks like the plate is also on me too." She then giggled before she said "Don't worry sir. Your partner is young and you just need to be patient. He will eventually learn more control with time. Some youngsters are just like that. I've had some kid cousins that were pretty impulsive."
"Rai, all you have to do is remain patient and firm and Y2K will become a decent digimon." Alucard said.
Meanwhile Lilamon had walked off again and then returned with the ordered food setting them down near the ones who ordered them. "There you go, young one. This food should do the trick. It has much more data than the average meals here. Perfect for those with absurdly large appetites." Lilamon said stepping back and said "Just don't eat the plates, cups, or silverware. Okay?" She said it in a playful tone knowing that things were likely under control.

Rai wondered for a moment how a 14 year old became a foster parent to a digital monster. Well he came in an email. Duh.
Y2K only raised his arms up to his body like a mantis and said "Yes!" to the edge of the ceiling above Lilamon's head like a muppet before descending on the burger which was almost the size of his head face first.
Rai cleared his throat, causing Y2K to stop and pause to look at Rai in a manner almost like a lizard.
"Slow down and savor the food." he said sternly. "We don't eat out very often."
He then gave the Keramon a small smile. "And if its too big to hold in your hands, try to pick it apart with the silverware or your fingers."
Y2K stared at him for a a moment longer before delicately trying to pick up the large burger with his large hands, and... took a huge bite out of it!
However the Keramon began to chew in almost comical slow motion... He's a little confused, but he has the spirit... maybe?
"Its tashty!" he said with a full mouth. He also hadn't mastered the concept of chewing with his mouth closed... Instead his mouth opened and closed like a muppet, tilting his head back to avoid spilling food from his mouth as needed as the contents dissolved into 1s and 0s with each 'ahm'.
Rai sighed. "Since I always fed him on emails, I never had to teach him table manners. He'd always just have the directory to himself. I see that's going to be a process now."
He took a napkin and tried to clean some of the mess off of Y2K's head as the little guy ate. At least he'd slowed down.

While Alucard and Poseidon were politely beginning to eat their food Y2K, on the other hand, was practically burying himself eagerly into his food only stopping at Rai clearing his throat. At least Rai was willing to take the lead by being as stern as he needed to be as he told Y2K to slow down and savor his food. Alucard was calmly eating his fried curry rice and swallowed the food in his mouth before he said "Listen to Rai, Y2K. Eating at a calmer pace is better for your digestion."
While Poseidon was eating his macaroni and cheese having not yet gotten around to his garlic potatoes he then said "Take it easy and chew so you don't choke on the food. That and it will be less likely to fall out of your mouth."
"Maybe you can begin teaching him table manners when giving him snacks. He seems to want to be a good person so that's a start." Alucard said.

Rai replied with a guarded monotone "I certainly don't think he's a -bad- person. Little guy's two passions are eating and making friends. But I sometimes worry about what I've been told about his line's higher evolutions... being having predispositions towards developing megalomania and 'ending the world'."
"Its a bit scary to be honest... But I've also been told if I can raise him right, those instincts or whatever could be overcome. Its a lot of pressure." he said blankly, staring almost glassy eyed at his partner who was eating in the same Slow-Mo fashion as before.
"Supposedly that mark on his tongue just means there's a higher potential for Y2K to be a big problem like that later. Supposedly Ultimate and Mega level 'Keramon' and Digital Hazards turning out to be big trouble separately is a thing... and Y2K comes as a bundle." he droned on.
He looked to Alucard, internalizing all of his emotions. "He's growing so fast... he's eight months old and just digivolved to a champion earlier. Is that normal? What if I can't do well enough by him in time? What if I fail him? What if failing him means..." he didn't want to finish that thought.
Y2K finally finished what was in his mouth and tipped a third of his Data Pack shake intp his craw and began to do the same thing to his beverage as he had his burger. Ahm-nam-nam-nam.

"Everyone has darkness within them be they human or digimon." Alucard began sounding as if he had some experience with such a matter firsthand. He did but Rai and Y2K didn't know that. He then took a deep breath before he said "The darkness within will only win if you and Y2K let it happen."
Poseidon swallowed the food he was chewing and said "Dad has his own unpleasant experience involving his dark side before he got it under control. When his dark side had control he became a scary shadow with the strength of an ultimate. We were just relieved no one was hurt when that happened."
"I know how you feel when dealing with a digimon that seems to be growing super fast. Poseidon is only slightly older than Y2K. I still feel overwhelmed at times being a dad. All we can do is try our best and pray things work out." Alucard said before taking a sip of his drink.

"At eight months old a human is still an infant that can barely think for itself let alone care for itself. We mature at one of the slowest rates compared to nearly every other form of life in our world. At age 14, I'm not even considered an adult. Something like a pre-adult. We have one steadily aging and changing form, instead of transitioning between five or six." Rai mused for a some perspective. "But I'm glad you and everyone else I've talked to about it have said we can do it." he said with a clear honest smile. "It means a lot to me." He wasn't sure if he knew how to smile for anyone but Y2K before today. Even this much. It wasn't exaggerated, fake or sarcastic like the smile he sometimes put on for the Bakery's customers when his father told him to show 'more feeling'. It was simple and realistic. Y2K was in a meantime taking another huge bite out of his burger while his antenna began to wander over his surroundings as if looking for something. Eventually he began to angle his head around oddly, and even simply look around, managing somehow not to spill any food as he chewed with his mouth open like a muppet doll. Was he looking for something?

"In some ways infant digimon are similar to human infants. Sure they are mobile at the fresh stage but really can't defend themselves from attack which is why you normally don't see fresh stage digimon outside of towns and cities in the Digital World." Alucard said before pausing to think for a moment before he then said "As for humans like yourself, I've heard they tend to continue growing to at least their early twenties before they are finished growing."
"Apparently you have met others with good instincts. You seem to be a good kid and Y2K can learn a lot from you." Alucard said.
Alucard glanced over at Y2K watching the Keramon as his antenna seemed to be wondering over his surroundings for some reason. Then it appeared he was looking for something while chewing with his mouth open. Alucard reached over and began pushing the Keramon's mouth shut as he said "Don't chew with your mouth open, Y2K."
