Lost in More Ways Than One (Solo?)

The hustle and bustle of the big city was something completely familiar to her, yet something she disliked all the same. What she wouldn't have given for a lovely little town house in the countryside, with some woodland and maybe even a cute little pond to call her own.
Alas, that was a dream forgotten since she had moved to Japan. She had been practically stuck in the city for weeks now, no end in site. What she wouldn't give to get a motorcycle license, purchase a bike, and just ride out of the city until she found a little place she could find peace in.
Plus, she would look so cool on top of a bike.
Alas, she never got her license back in America either. And having to take a Japanese driving test, with specific Japanese road rules where they drive on the left side, sounds complex. For now, she was stuck to the subways to get from place to place.
Oh how much she disliked trains. Or at least, subways specifically. Too many people, too much noise, and way too many confusing maps that didn't make sense. She had already gotten lost before, simply asking for help last time had been a nightmare. She was determined not to get lost again.
And yet here she was, lost. Again.
At this point she shouldn't be surprised, but her eyes were just wide, staring at the crowd beyond as if that would somehow give her a clue of where to go. She stood there, leaning gently up against a wall, face stone cold as a statue. Her mind internally, however, racing. How was she ever to find her way back home without asking for help? Having to call her parents and ask for direction was less embarrassing than asking a stranger, but what if they were busy? What if her father was in a business meeting? Oh that wouldn't do at all.
Maybe she was overthinking this entirely. There had to be an easier solution. After a few moments of just stunned silence, the idea finally hit her. Her phone was useful after all! It had maps on it! Presumably, the internet would be able to guide her home better than anything else at this point. She smoothly slid her leather purse off her shoulder and begun to dig around inside to pull out her phone.
Only it wasn't her phone at all. It had a weird purple case, and a model she wasn't familiar with. This revelation immediately made her panic internally a bit more. Not only did she have someone else's phone, but she didn't have her own phone anymore! Somehow she snapped phones with a stranger and didn't realize until now! How long did she have it? She messaged one of her friends when she woke, but in between the morning and now she was completely lost.
Panic building more and more inside her chest, she slowly moved to sit down on a nearby bench to control herself. Determined to find her phone, she set the strangers device down and began to dig into her purse once more. This time, however, she pulled out another small device she didn't recognize. This time, her panic had quickly shifted into full blown confusion. It resembled some kind of portable computer. Outdated, but one all the same.
She sat there holding the devices in hand for a long time, simply stunned. Accidentally grabbing a strangers phone, she could rationalize. But this in her purse? There is no way she couldn't have noticed that. Was someone playing a prank on her? Her eyes darted around the subway, but everyone was moving too quickly. Nobody was really paying her any attention.
Her curiosity growing, Kumiko finally convinced herself to turn on the phone-like device. It's screen began to glow, and a symbol came on the screen, but not one she recognized. After a few moments of nothing happening, she turned to open up the strange little computer.
Whatever she was expecting to see, a communications network was not it. What, was this some kind of forum? Chatroom? It prompted her to make a username, which struck her as quite odd. Did the previous user not have one? Just how did this get on her purse? Her questions just kept growing, and there seemed to be no real answers.
And yet, her growing curiosity couldn't just be abandoned so easily. Instead of putting these away, contacting the police to return possibly stolen goods like a logical person... she made an account.
And then posted a question.
