A Lame Legacy, Admittedly [Bass|Ask]

Was this place really worthy of the name Labyrinth? The Trickmon that was currently observing the environment couldn't help but wonder. It must’ve been a pretty deluded mind; considering that both the craftsmanship and the disposition of this place left... a lot to be desired, in all honesty. Vines and shrubberies grew haphazardly as far as the eye could see, giving the impression of a children’s neglected playground or the abode of a hoarder, rather anything that inspired any kind of awe.
Fairly obvious by now, but neither Manami’s inner artisan nor her aesthetic sense were impressed by this arrangement in the slightest; if anything, she was a tad disappointed at the whole deal; whoever had designed this place was, by all means and standards, severely lacking in taste.
However, admiring the quality (or lack thereof) of this place wasn’t exactly the reason why she was here. Various tales and rumors told that there was a digimon with unimaginable power living here, and while seriously doubting those claims, if they happened to be true, that also meant that a good volume of high-quality data would be available for the digimon to begin her next project. Quite convenient, wasn’t it?
Before parting, she briefly thought about Marina and En-En; she had send the sisters to collect information regarding the Digital World, and they had decided to travel all the way north and document every event of importance that transpired in their travels. Probably not very efficient, but she couldn’t complain about their sheer determination to try and complete the task that was given to them. She had gotten a worrying message from Marina not very long ago, but that situation seemed to have cleared itself fairly quickly. At the very least, it looked like the two were around some decent company.

If it had been unworthy of the name now, then there must have been a time where it had been worthy of such a moniker, no? Of course, Manami was far from alone in this deprecated ruin in the midst of a jungle. No, far far far from it.
"So, if there's someone pretty strong nearby...Why are you going towards them?" The girl asked of the flower. "Mmm...I'd be lying if I said I had any particular reason. Beyond you, this is the first person I've ran into in quite a while. I'd be a very poor host if I didn't say hello, you know?" The flower replied, with a soft smile.
"I suppose that makes sense..." The girl mused, adjusting her hoodie as the two made their way towards a ledge. A ledge overlooking a hall. "Now, Madame Serre...Please, be on the lookout for what I am pretty sure is a hat."
"A hat?"
"A hat. At least, that's what I am guessing based upon signals..."
"...What? That sounds a little preposterous...I mean, you being a flower person, I could understand, but why a hat?"
The Floramon would shrug. "Wait and see, I suppose. Now, watch this." He said, before, in a very strange display of acrobatics...did a flip, down into the hall before landing on his feet(?) What a sight, truly. Of course, the girl did not deign to follow him down!

Why of all places did Dio choose to return to this so called Labyrinth time and time again? And furthermore, why did he insist on doing so alone? Well, the latter question had a very simple answer: he didn't have much of a choice in the matter. It was either pester Bloom to spend the day together, or...not much else really. Ever since the disastrous trio had taken a bit of a break from eachother he didn't really see much of either most of the time, even after talking things out.
Maybe it was for the best, some wounds were better healed with time than words.
Anyways, rambling introspections aside, this place didn't seem to have changed much since he last visited: it still was the same ruined, unremarkable location overrun with greenery since last time. Hopefully there wouldn't be any power limiting contraptions set in place this time however, if he had the bad luck of running into someone stronger looking for a fight he at least wanted to fight on even terms.
Speaking of which he could feel at least one very blatantly strong signal coming from somewhere in the general area, but it was anyone's guess if it was something worth worrying about or not. It was certainly something worth investigating however, or at least that was Dio's flimsy justification for pushing deeper down the hall, always half leaning against the nearest dilapidated wall in case he needed to make a break for it or hide.

Maybe that time had existed at some point, but if it had, no trace of it remained whatsoever. That was the case outwardly, at least; whether something existed further inside or not couldn’t be known, or at least not until the place was inspected in a more in-depth fashion. Before she could appropriately delve into this place, however, something else caught Manami’s attention. They weren’t that far, and she even thought she could make small fragments of their conversation and… it seemed like they were aware of her! Being referred to as just ‘a hat’ was a tad on the insensitive side, but that could be overlooked if they had any information regarding this place. It was an acceptable tradeoff, wasn’t it? Or, at least that was the initial plan; quickly enough, she recognized yet another presence, and it was then when she had an amazing idea. Instead of going wherever they were. She’d just attract them here! In what felt like a fraction of a second, there were four woofers behind the trickmon, all while she gripped what was, by all means and purposes, one of those old-school condenser microphones. Oh, and her holosuit had been activated too, and to enhance the aesthetic of the performance, it even had a slightly different appearance. With that out of the way, a fully-spirited speech began. “Yo guys! I was totally gonna sing a pretty melancholic piece that no doubt would’ve moved the hearts of millions, but I figured that no one really cares about depressing stuff, so I’m going to go with the complete opposite. Do y’all know what a Swimmon said when it swam straight into a wall?” When exactly three seconds had passed, she spoke again. “Dam.” If nobody had been outright slaughtered by that terrible joke, chances were they were homing into Manami’s position to share their thoughts on how atrocious that had been. In any case, the objective of that small show had been accomplished!

Hm. Whomever the hatted individual may or may not have been seemed to be not very keen towards moving over. That was okay, the Floramon figured he was due a walk anyways, so he simply made towards where Manami was, with his ally promptly climbing down and running after him!
"Hey, hey, wait up!" Spoke the girl. The Floramon rounded a corner, and witnessed a hat become a pretty lady, as well as gain several woofers behind her. Before unloading the sickest pun that anyone had ever heard.
"Wow!" The Floramon spoke! "That one was pretty good. Do you know the one about the Hackmon? Or, pray tell, the morbidly obese Tsukaimon? I wish to aid in expanding the repertoire of good jokes." That was most likely not what Manami had wanted, but the girl had also gained an expression of revulsion.
"...Terrible..."

Well, the former "hat" like individual's idea to get their attention worked like a charm, even if it damn near made the imp jump out of his skin at the sudden and absolute destruction of the silence. Unfortunately that wasn't the only thing that was shattered, as his hopes soon took a considerable dive as his ears were (dis)graced by a most terrible, utterly evil collection of words strung together: a pun.
Were he aware of the title of the thread, he'd probably think this right here was living up to it. As he made his way to the source of the anti comedy, he'd come across what was clearly a human, as well as a floramon encouraging the individual with toothpaste colored hair to exchange more "funny" material.
"...please don't." Dio practically begged, a grimace of pain and embarrasment as he shook his head at this rather confounding scene. At the very least, the blonde girl seemed to be on the same page as he was, though that was quickly phased out from his mind as another realization hit him.
"Good grief, I thought this place was supposed to be more...abandoned. What's with the sudden influx of tourists?"

Predictably enough, Manami’s awful attempt at humor had worked as well as it could’ve. The first arrivals were a Floramon and a human, one of whom seemed to have actually enjoyed the whole deal. The disguised digimon regarded them with an observant expression, but ultimately nodded with a satisfied smirk as she began to store her equipment back again. “Sadly, I haven’t heard about those tales, but if you feel so kind as to share them, I’m all ears!” Just like the human, an Impmon that didn’t seem all that pleased showed up, pretty much imploring them to stop destroying everything and everyone who stood for good taste and practices. A most intriguing appearance, for sure! Once the woofers and the microphone were safely stored. The colorfully-dressed ‘human’ gave him a look. “I could’ve said the same over here. I didn’t expect to have company for this small venture of mine.” Might as well say it, right? Gracefully, her hand flourished, accompannied by music unloved by none. “I’m here in search of the perplexing and the unknown! Take everyone here heard about the fables surrounding the dangerous presence that inhabits this area? I’m searching for it. What brings you all here?” Left without mentioning was the fact that the Trickmon pretended to murder it with extreme prejudice in order to get some high-quality raw materials, but that was a detail best reserved for later.

"Ah...um. I'll have to get back on you on that, I seem to have forgotten what precisely the jokes were..." Fleur mused, briefly. See, it was absolutely his fault for forgetting the jokes and not the author's, at all. No sir. Not them. "As for why I'm here--I heard tales of two dangerous presences having been felt running around, yet there's also none of the sort here! Isn't that a little odd?"
Maybe they were different than the one Manami had mentioned. Maybe they weren't. Who knew? "However, I found a friend here in the form of my tamer here. Her name's Adel, please treat her nicely. She's my guest!"
...The girl seemed to just wave sheepishly.

"Probably for the best that you did." Dio would mutter, wishing he himself could forget the rather poor attempt at humor that had taken place just now. Or had it been way longer than that? Hard to say, time seemed to pass way more slowly here for whatever reason. The lack of sunlight this deep in the jungle certainly didn't help matters.
"I did hear a thing or two about strong presences in here but...well truth be told I wasn't really thinking about those until you brought them up." Dio said with a shrug, his reasons for being here for once not aligning with looking for a fight or whatever these three might want with someone stronger than them. Truth be told he himself didn't seem to know what he was doing here, besides clearing his head for a bit. "I guess you could say I was just doing some soul searching here. I tend to have more luck clearing my thoughts in places like this than something like Whitewater or the like. Too many tourists, though clearly this place isn't completely clear of them either." He added with a somewhat self deprecating smirk.
"Er...charmed." The imp soon retorted with a sheepish wave of his own. "Name's Dio."

At first, Manami looked perplexed at the Floramon for a couple of seconds, only to nod vigorously right afterward. “I understand. Sometimes, jokes are so elusive that they have the ability to escape even after being captured!” Despite the apparent lack of sense her words had, she seemed to be supremely convinced of it. “I’ve heard about those rumors as well, but it seems like, at least right now, there’s absolutely nothing to be seen. It is very strange!”
She waved at the human girl in a friendly way, before focusing on what the Impmon had to say. Was he… troubled, or something across the lines? “Are you having problems in your day-to-day life?” She asked, curiosity flaring in her expression. “You can trust in us, I promise! I’ve solved plenty of stressful situations in the past. For example, there was this time where I had to deal with the problems of two neighboring settlements and managed to reach a bountiful solution to all the parties involved!”
Of course, she wouldn’t dive too deeply into that unless asked. After a small shrug, she addressed all the people present. “That said, if any of you needs help with anything, it’s not like I have anything to do at the moment, except searching for any clues regarding this mysterious presence.” And, who knew, maybe they’d find something interesting in the most unlikely places.

"My day to day life -is- a problem, admittedly. Dunno about his." Adel found herself admitting in a very jesting sort of manner. She didn't know a damned thing about the rumors, given she had really just been staying around here with her friend. "Absolutely nothing at all, yes." Fleur offered with a shrug of his shoulders. "Unless it's us that are the presences. That'd be a shame, surely."
Or a great joke. "What was the solution, if I may inquire, my new friend? And have you yourself found any clues thus far? I do wish to see this puzzle answered, admittedly!" Fleur nodded with a bright, plant-like smile.
Nothing malicious there at all, no. Adel was more noting the differences between everybody present than anything noteworthy within the conversation proper.

On the one hand, Dio felt understandably a bit hesitant with just sharing everything that was going on in his mind at that moment, doubly so with people he had barely met. On the other, it was exactly because they didn't know him that the chances of such sensitive info reaching the ears of those close to him were next to zero.
"Truth be told? I guess I just haven't been on the best of terms with...I guess you could say my family." Why his voice struggled for a moment with that final word was probably evidence enough he was being genuine. "For the sake of time let's leave it at "stupid things were said and we rather not be on speaking terms." Not sure what your solution would be to something like that, unless you can go back in time."
Perhaps not wanting to point more attention to himself than it was needed or wanted (which was funny, considering how hungry for the spotlight he tended to be otherwise), Dio would try to subtly follow Fleur's lead, trying to focus on whatever this Manami character was after.
"Well I don't think anyone of us has much going on, so I second the idea of looking over some clues and see where that leads us."
