After what had felt like weeks of travel, Glory and her bestie, Grace, had finally emerged from the jungle treeline and arrived back in civilization! What a relief. Even Glory, who normally enjoyed the sense of danger that a journey through untamed wilderness brought with it was starting to grow sick and tired of being chased by scary, wild Digimon day and night, hour after hour. Feeling beat up and tired, the first thing they did after being welcomed by this brilliant city out on the shore was retire for the day to rest up. The night passed uneventful in this backstreet shack - some manner of tool shed long since picked clean of supplies. Even the cool sea breeze had been of no concern to them, a welcome reprieve from the humid, oppressive warmth of the jungle.
"Rise and shine. C'mon, get up!" She came in shouting at the top of her lungs, with that determined look in her eyes that told anyone it was going to be her way or the highway. First there was a nudge. Then a push, shoulder-to-shoulder. The impetuous Tukaimon was doing everything she could to wake Grace up, not ten, not thirty minutes from now, but right this instant. Today was going to be a big day after all. That's what she told herself anyway. Because today they were going to see what this city had to offer, not by going to the beach, or a club, but by exploring the murky backstreets of Whitewater, where surely the cool people stay! Okay, so maybe she still had a long way to go before growing out of her childish misconceptions on what's 'cool.'
"Hey! At the rate this is going, the sun'll be down by the time we leave!" These impatient urgings quickly took a different turn as the Tukaimon pushed on out the door, a whiff of fresh food hitting her nostrils. With a skip and a hop she took off, gliding down this stretch of street towards an unplugged, but very much so powered vending machine. The answer to all her troubles. "Okay whatever, I'll be getting a snack down the street, see you there." After a minute or two, she reached the base of the street and spent an unusual amount of time trying to make up her mind on what she'd get this morning. The Big Meat? The Big Meat Special? A bucket of Happy Mushroom ramen?
Fortunately her hunger forced her to choose before long. Glory threw out the prospects of a healthy morning meal, for a thick Orange Banana slushie, delivered cool, and with the straw pre-inserted! Her smile just couldn't be any bigger after awkwardly retrieving the lidded cup from the vending machine's dispensing tray. It had the right amount of kick to it after being subjected to the, in her words anyway, dreadful experience of drinking plain forest water for a month and then some. Sooo nutritious! The minutes ticked by as Glory savored her treat, for a time losing track of whatever else might be going down here.

The slowly stirring Patamon rises from her slumber in the shack with a loud yawn, stretching out as her wings shot straight into the air in a lengthy post wake up flex. Grace was a slow waker in the mornings and loved her beauty rest, though mostly really it was because she was used to Glory's antics when it come to waking her up. She had unwillingly been turned into a heavy sleeper after her lengthy friendship with the Tukaimon. The two small sized digimon had trekked far and wide to grow their skills, and so this being the first time they'd been properly tested- they were do a little relaxation afterwards. The life of two unaffiliated digimon was a rough one, but they had each other at the end of the day- so it wasn't that bad really!
...Or at least, they had each other when Glory didn't just storm off without her.
Oh dear.
She was alone in the shack. Glory was having an adventure without her. They would get lost forever. They'd never SEE EACH OTHER AGAIN!
These thoughts and more plagued the sensitive Rookie's mind as she bolted out of the shack. She was good at navigating woodland environments, but she hopeless in more urban ones. Her skill in traversing the jungles is what helped them make it this far in the first place, but now? She was left hopeless. She would sure never see Glory again...
"GLORRRRRYYYY!" She howls, careening down the street as she begins to panic. Of course, it only takes but a moment for her to encounter the Tukaimon who was literally just down the street the entire time, but this doesn't seem to factor into her mind as she continues to whine. "Don't run off like that! I thought we were gonna get separated! The big city is DANGEROUS Glory! There are SHADY DIGIMON who live here!!" She further insists as she smooshes herself against the Tukaimon.
She sniffles. "...Oh, a vending machine." She notes, her tears already slowly starting to dry up as she flies above and hits the button for the BIG MEAT SPECIAL and begins to chomp down with a contented smile on her face, her head almost certainly completely empty.
"I forgot what I was upset about." There was only room for the big meat special.

Glory was halfway done gulping down her ice cold slushie when finally Grace came around again, eyes going wide like saucers as she got bumped into while her mind was anywhere but on her surroundings. Sounding out a startled yelp, it took a moment or two to get her bearings again. Seeing who it was at least put her worries to rest real quick. But was she really being lectured on the dangers of roaming off on her own in some dumb city? What was she taking her for, here. Some LAME, sniveling Betamon? Fortunately she had the wisdom to keep that big mouth to herself at least some of the time. "Yeah right! If there's any shady Digimon around these parts, it's GOT to be over by the beach! I'd hide in the sunniest spot in town, if I wanted people to think I'm nice."
She was about to follow up on that line of thought when Grace got around to filling up the tank as she had, and simply resigned herself to finishing the drink so they could move on to bigger and better things.
...Like exploring the huge urban sprawl they'd stumbled into. "Anyways, so I saw that there's this old pipe down this way, up on the rocks between two buildings coming into town. The grate's all kinds of rusty. I JUST KNOW there's going to be treasure in there. Hurry, so we can get there first!" In her trademark fashion, Glory waited all of a minute for her friend to finish gobbling up the vendor snack before she was zooming off again, a little weighed down by that heavy hitting slushie perhaps. All impulse, and not a worry about trivial concepts like the consequences of her actions, it didn't take long for her to be gone again, bounding off like a purple blur.
"Up this way!"
Before she knew it, her wings had carried her up onto one of the nearby rooftops to provide something of a vantage point over the city. A sight completely lost on her, as she was singularly focused on finding that ugly sewage or water pipe. But try as she might, Glory didn't really find anything that met that description, and her attention slowly shifted away to what was going on in her immediate vicinity. What was that, an open roof hatch? Mysterious...

To be fair, both of them were a lot closer to Betamon than they were Alphamon, a fact which did not need much elaboration.
Regardless, Grace is quick to begin munching on the meat platter. The assorted large meats (sourced locally!) had a variety of rubs and spices for her to try and enjoy, and for a Patamon, Grace could really put this stuff away. The amount of food on that platter probably exceeded her own body weight, but she gave no thought or heed to this. She only had room for thoughts of her big meat special, and what she and Glory were going to do today. The fact that the vending machine could produce such a thing was also not a concern. The digital world its own form of common sense to it, and this was one of the many things that its denizens grew up not thinking about.
It was a vending machine, and so it made food. Simple as that. "...But wouldn't you want to hide in an alley if you were a shady Digimon who was wanted?" Grace notes in between bites, pondering in that slow way that she does.
And of course before long, Glory is off to the races, soaring high into the sky and leaving her behind. "Hey! Waitttt! Don't leave me AGAIN!" Now she'd been reminded once more why she was upset in the first place, and quickly finishes her meal before taking off after the Tukaimon."And if there's treasure in the pipe, wouldn't it be all rusty like the pipe is!?" In Grace's mind, all treasure was a pirates chest filled with gold. There was simply no other kind of treasure.
As she lands on the roof, a bit slower than Glory due to the heavy nature of her meal, she slowly plods along after them and follows their gaze. "...A hole? We should be careful, we don't accidentally want to trespass, Glory!" She felt so happy she spotted the hatch so that they could avoid trouble.
Definitely.

She performed an anxious spin up on the roof, doing a quick scan for any signs of Grace. Why was she taking so-
"Oh. There you are!"
Well, that took care of that. With Grace up topside she waited nary a moment to drop another bright idea in her lap. Because, she'd already moved onto the next best thing. The pipe, something of an after thought to what she was unpacking now in that big head of hers. She found herself slowing down a little as she nervously skirted the hatch, mustering some courage to have a peek for curiosity's sake.
"Forget about all that. We can worry about the pipe later, Grace. I think we've found something larger than all of that... Down that hatch, our treasure awaits..." Striking a conspiratorial tone with the Patamon, it's hardly a question whether she's hatching some dumb, half-baked plan again. The sort that usually amounted to a whole lot of nothing. What could be inside of that hatch? Surely there wouldn't be any Digimon living in a scary, dank place like this? Cautiously inching forward, she actually had enough room in her noggin to consider some of Grace's warnings.
"And quit it, will you! We won't know if it's trespassing, until someone tells us! I promise, we'll leave if we're unwanted! Okay? Okaaa-aeeaaaaa!"
Her footing slipped, and before her wings could kick in she found herself tumbling down the hatch onto the floor of a call center office department. The kind that had water coolers full of lemonade, and power cords plugged into potted ferns. It was gonna take a moment to get everything back in order, but a confused groan let Grace know that her friend was alive and 'well' at least.

"...Are you sure they keep pirate treasure in office buildings, Glory? I thought they just kept pens and rolling chairs in there." Grace ponders briefly, standing on her hind legs and putting her stubby forelegs to her head in thought. "I don't think this is a good-" And it's precisely at that moment that Glory falls into the opening, Grace gives a proper stage worthy gasp before jumping in after her and gently floating down towards the ground by the Tukaimon's side. "GLORYYYY! OH LIGHT, DON'T DIE!" Grace yells before hearing the tell tale moans of pain clue her into the truth of her survival. "Hang on! I'll fix the ouchies!" The Patamon slipping into a bit of her history being something of a nurse for the younger digimon, she actually uses the term 'ouchie'- which likely doesn't do much for Glory's pride.
"Do-Rei-Me!" She sings, one of her ears outstretching almost like an opera singer extending a hand to the sky to punctuate a particular moment. The only time Grace's voice was actually soothing was when she was singing, and that was usually because it came with a good bit of physical healing too.
Soon enough any pain Glory might have had fades away, to say nothing of any minor injuries. "Are you okay!?" She chimes, gently nudging her friend with her face. "Don't worry! They have plenty of lemonade, and I'm sure plenty of cool pens too!!" How the pens were supposed to make her feel better was a mystery, but Grace often found pleasure in the simple things.

Die? The word rattled through her empty head as she somewhat found her bearings again with the aid of Grace's timely healing. Spatial awareness was rapidly turning into one of those things she'd have to pick up on sooner rather than later, if she wanted to stand any chance of surviving. Oh well! It could wait. She was too taken aback by the embarrassing remark made by her friend right now, eyes squinting shut for a couple moments, as if mentally shouldering past it. Then that sweet song washed over, and took away the aching from her fall.
"...Thanks."
Showered in more concern than she felt she was deserving of Glory was quick to switch topics. "Really, I'm fine! I just - just bumped my head a little." A light bump of the head was reciprocated, but then there was talk of what, lemonade? Pens? She knew she couldn't hold a pen like ambidextrous Digimon. But she had a mouth? Before putting thoughts into action her eyes finally locked onto one of those 'lemonade coolers', and she approached it to draw a sip from its automatic faucet. Glug glug!
Much better. Finally giving her eyes a moment to roam, she spotted two doors out of this room. One looking to be some manner of fire exit with a sign hanging over it of a Koromon rolling down a flight of stairs. The other door was slightly ajar, leading into some manner of hallway? The lights were on, that had to mean something.
"Wait, that's it. You're a genius, Grace! Get all the pens you can find. So we can mark where we've been before, or - or... Something like that!" The devious Tukaimon began pulling open drawers using her teeth. And what she found was, that these drawers were in fact overflowing with nothing other than pencils and pens! Not a sheet or parchment in sight.

Relieved by the fact that her friend was okay and not in any sort of further danger, Grace almost forgot to be surprised by the claim that she was apparently some sort of genius. Wow, her? Really? So exciting!
Her wings perk up happily as she looks about and sees a storage closet in the distance. She floats up to it and uses her stubby forelegs to turn the doorknob and hangs off it as the door swings wide. Pata-Peeking her Pata-noggin in the doorway, she sees that this is not a storage closet- but a printer room. Inside lies an industrial printer that seems to spit out not paper, but...tee-shirts? The imagery upon them clearly having been ripped from various image hosting sites and printed on cheap material, this machine seemed to be scraping data from cheap tee selling sites ad infinitum.
A bright flash stuns her and she nearly falls to the ground, wiping her eyes before taking another look. The machine was now printing tee shirts of Grace, it utilizing a picture it apparently just took. Oops. Hope those don't wind up on Redbubble.
...Though might as well take a souvenir right? "Woah, Glory! You were right, there was all kinds of treasure in here!" She comes floating out of the side room wearing one of said tee's, it clearly being a smidge too big on her form. Seeing Grace wear a shirt of...Grace, was a rather odd sight to be certain. "I didn't find any pens in there, but I did find this! Oh, and this I guess!" She then shows off what looks to be a printer ink cartridge...with a grenade pin in it.
"I think this makes color!" She beams happily.
