Marigold buzzed from one rooftop to the next, a serious and focused look on her face as she moved to stay out of sight of the people who were on the street even this late at night. While she was moving with as much stealth as she could manage, she couldn't do much to hide herself from any digimon that happened to be passing on the street below, or even any humans who were looking up at the right angle and wondered what the hell that giant bee shaped silhouette was doing moving up against the dark blue sky. Anyone who knew her would also make a note of something. She was travelling alone, without either her father or her sibling in tow. Which was worryingly out of character behavior for the little bug.
"Come one, come on. Show me what I need to see." She said as she alighted on the rooftop and paused, looking around. She had a slip of paper tucked into the scarf that she always wore, snapping crimson against a chill wind. She removed it from its place and looked at it, grunting and furrowing her brow as she buzzed up into a small hover around the rooftop. "Now how would they have gotten in and out of this building without...hmmm." She murmured to herself, seemingly lost in something before hovering over to an air conditioning duct. Looking down at it, then back at the page that she had been reading from. She didn't have any lips, but the image that came over her eyes could not be mistaken for anything but a grin as she landed, perching herself upon the top of the air conditioner and tilted her head down to look into it, reaching one of her claws inside and pressing on the grate that held the duct closed to the outside world.
She made a small squeak of triumphant excitement as the grate scraped against the inside of the duct, showing that something had unscrewed it from its place and jarred it loose. She removed the grate gingerly, setting it down on the rooftop so as to not make a loud clang if she simply let it go. She tucked her head down into the duct, still standing on top of it and rummaging around in the dark tunnel with one claw. There were a couple of rough scraping and banging sounds as she fumbled in the dark but eventually she pulled her head up clutching a new written page and a small purple trinket about the size of an easter egg and with a similar rich violet color. She opened a drawstring bag she also had strapped around her neck and dropped the trinket into it, humming happily to herself before replacing the grate as gingerly as possible.
When she finally looked up from her work she found that someone evidently had been watching her, whoever it was had happened to catch sight of her that she couldn't fully make out in the dark.

Mandrake was walking late at night with Circe clutching his hand tightly. The young rookie had been dealing with nightmares and was struggling to get back to sleep so the disguised Wizardmon had let Lothar know that he was taking their daughter for a walk to maybe wear her out so she could sleep. After alerting Lothar, Mandrake then left the hotel the family was staying at and began walking the street. Amazingly Circe didn't seem afraid of the dark itself just the occasional sudden noise that was heard as the pair walked together. With each sound Circe would snuggle closer to Mandrake but that was normal for the rookie level spiderling.
Then a curious movement was caught in the corner of Mandrake's eye causing the disguised Wizardmon to look in the direction of the movement seeing something flying at a distance. Circe noticed too and pointed her curiosity currently peaked though she was nervous too. Reading his daughter's mind he then said "You want to get a bit closer to check it out?" When Circe nodded, Mandrake said "If it gets too dangerous we'll head back to the hotel, okay?"
Now that Circe seemed to feel safer the two approached the unknown figure until Mandrake recognized Marigold of all digimon removing something from a ventilation duct before noticing them but the pair was still in the shadows so it was unlikely Marigold would be able to recognize him so he, just to be sure, asked "Marigold, what are you doing? Where is Zack?"

Marigold bolted upright, nearly scrambling and tumbling off of her perch on top of the duct before she found her footing again, straining to squint against the dark as she peered into it and spotted a friendly face. That smile returned to her eyes and she hovered up and buzzed down to ground level. She opened her mouth to speak and then suddenly thought better of it, getting a quizzical look in her eye before she actually decided to explain herself.
"Hi Mandrake! Long time no see! Who's the new little one?" She said, making a small bow toward Circe as she stepped closer to the pair so that they could see her more clearly. "You and Lothar are busy little bees. Oh yes, busy little bees." She said, looking up at Mandrake and bouncing her eyebrows up and down in a "knowing" fashion. She knew that their children were adoptive for the most part, just like her but still she was only teasing.
"I'm..." Again she paused in her explanation and seemed to let something mischievous cross over her face before she opened to speak again. "We're on the trail of a new villain. Calls himself The Botlord. He's been leaving this little doodads around all over the city, trying to taunt us before they go off." She said, bouncing the little bag around her neck that clacked with a couple of the small purple implements inside already. "We have to find them all before the sun comes up." She said, holding out the card that she had found and grinning widely as she read the contents of the letter in full. "The next one should be on a rooftop a few minutes flight from here."

Mandrake had apparently startled Marigold and she almost fell from her perch before finding her footing. Then when Marigold recognized him. "Seeing as Lothar and I have produced two children together and adopted another one before this little one, busy is an accurate statement. This little one is our new daughter, Circe, but her circumstances are somewhat similar to yours. See a short time ago an Arukenimon kidnapped me planning to kill me for my data by draining it to create an army of offspring. However Lothar came in the nick of time and we later learned that Circe was the only child created. Her mother, if I can call that monster that, beat her and abandoned her to die when she learned Circe was as gentle as I, her father. When Lothar and I found her after Lilly went on her own she was covered in bruises and was malnourished. Not only that she is suffering from mental trauma due to what her mother did to her and is anxious, timid, and wary of strangers. I think she is afraid of being hurt again." Mandrake said as Circe had now bolted behind him hiding.
At Marigold's expression Mandrake suspected something was up but the Fanbeemon's explanation caused Circe to peak slightly out in curiosity as she shyly asked "Botlord?"
Mandrake had a feeling something was off but decided to play along as he said "Perhaps we can help you find these devices, Marigold. That is if you don't mind the help."

Marigold's face got harder at the explanation of Circe's circumstances. It was too close to her own for comfort, a terrible beast for a mother, a father willing and able to pull her out of the mire and give her the kind of life that she actually deserved, but still holding the kind of physical, mental and emotional scars that would remain with her for the rest of her natural born life. She fluttered down to Circe and smiled, peaking around Mandrake's leg but not getting too close to the little digimon's personal space.
"Hiya Circe. My name's Marigold. My dad and I are a friend of your family. We're superheroes." She said, it was always slightly shocking the way that they said that without a single ounce of self awareness of sarcasm. They viewed themselves as superheroes, in full and without any fronts being put up, it's who they were." "Sure! The more the merrier, I say!" She said, checking the note again. Another emotion seemed to roll over her face like a bank of fog. Her eyes softening and a smile reaching her eyes as she let out a contented sigh. "That would be...yea, the roof of the apartment building down the block, we'll find it hidden under a loose brick at the edge of the rooftop." She said, buzzing up into a hover. She didn't explain how it was that she knew exactly where she was looking for the devices, perhaps there was some kind of clue in the note. For the moment, she wasn't sharing.

Circe looked at Marigold shaking nervously though the bee digimon seemed friendly. She couldn't help but be suspicious given her circumstances but at least she knew her father would protect her. She was slightly wary of being abandoned at some level but also had a feeling that Mandrake wouldn't do such a thing. Curse her lack of trust sometimes.
"S-Superheroes?" Circe asked clearly not understanding what that meant but didn't ask any further questions.
Mandrake then said "Marigold and her father work together to help those who need it while sometimes directly tracking down criminals so they don't hurt anyone. It's kind of like what Lothar and I do." Circe nodded seemingly satisfied with her father's explanation. Sure it was simple but it was effective and to the point.
Marigold seemed okay with them helping out but Mandrake took note of the paper in Marigold's claws wandering what was up with it. It was clear that there was something important about that note and Mandrake asked "So Marigold. What about that note? Has this Botlord been leaving messages on paper for you? And where is your father? Is he patrolling elsewhere in town?" It was clear to the crafty magician something was amiss indeed.
"Uhm. I...I can climb on the roof when we get there. I.....I am really good at climbing." Circe said timidly but at some level wanted to help still. She definitely was a lot like Mandrake.

"Oh yea, real Riddler type with this one." She said, as with her father always defaulting back to a superhero reference when she came up short of fully explaining herself. She tucked the message away in the same bag that she was keeping the small devices in. She gave Circe another small smile before turning back to the task at hand. A kid like that only needed a little bit of time to open up out of their shell, Marigold only needed to be patient, which was something she could absolutely do. "Yea, dad's...tracking things from a different angle. He said it was very important that today I start to learn how to do some things on my own." She said, her voice like she was puzzling out a mystery of her own but she popped up on the edge of the roof enthusiastically.
She took off into the night with a buzzing glide. She didn't pump her wings too fast, the sound of it might alert the people below. At the very least looking up to see a giant bee would be enough to start another one one of Tokyo's endless urban myths and legends and she just didn't want to have to deal with that right now. Alighting on the edge of the block of apartment buildings, Marigold began to run her claw around the edge of the brickwork to see which one of them was loose enough to hide the message and the component underneath.

Circe stared at Marigold her confusion written on her face and she began tugging on Mandrake's arm causing the disguised Wizardmon to look at her and as if reading the child's mind he answered "I think this Riddler may be a comic character, Circe." Circe still seemed baffled but that answer seemed to satisfy the young one for the time being. Then Marigold said Zack was tracking things from a different angle and she was handling some things on her own. "Seeing as you are a lot like your father, it was a matter of time before you started handling some cases on your own."
When Marigold took flight both Mandrake and Circe followed behind her with Circe clutching her father's hand. Soon the group made it to the building that Marigold mentioned before flying up to the roof. Mandrake soon found a ladder and began climbing with Circe only releasing her grip on Mandrake before climbing the wall making it to the roof at a pace Spiderman himself would of been proud of. As she set foot on the roof without a sound Mandrake, who had taken longer, had managed to climb onto the rooftop and walked up to Marigold. Meanwhile Circe was feeling some of the bricks as well out of curiosity.

Marigold paused, looking over to Circe as she climbed up and she smiled, tilting her head and putting on her best older sister voice that was usually only reserved for Violent.
"Wow, when you said that you could climb well enough on your own, you weren't kidding. Talk about talented." She said. She felt a kindred spirit with the girl, knowing that at her age, with very similar influences and fears, that kind of compliment would have kept her going for weeks. Marigold stepped back and mumbled something to herself, lining up her vision with one of the skyscrapers in the distance and reaching down over the edge, finding the brick, the note and the next of the small purple devices. She rolled the device over in her claws.
It was a small block, like a lego brick with a curve on either side and the connectors on the top and bottom. There was some kind of wiring or circuit inside and something that looked like part of a speaker. She stowed it away in the bag that she had around her neck. Flipping open the note Mandrake was able to watch something unfold on her face. In the moonlight and upward glow of street lamps he saw her face change, something misty and sparkling welling up in her eyes

At Marigold's compliment the timid spider child looked at her boots before she quietly said "Thank you." If one looked at Circe though one could tell there was a smile on her face. Meanwhile Marigold had found the device and she was examining it while rolling the device in her claws. Mandrake and Circe took a look at the device as well taking note of all the details including that it looked like there was some kind of speaker part connected to the device.
As Marigold put the device in the bag around her neck, Mandrake said "How odd. Why would such a thing need a speaker connected to it? And if this Botlord is as dangerous as you said shouldn't we be deactivating these devices?" Mandrake took note of how Marigold's face looked when she flipped open the note and that there was some mistyness and sparkling welling in her eyes. Was she crying? Leaning over to get a better look at the note Mandrake peered down toward it hoping to see what it was saying.
Circe, who also saw the look on Marigold's face, then asked "Are you okay?"

"...You're stronger than you realize. And more loved than you could ever know." Marigold said to Circe as she looked down at her own feet. It was the kind of thing that she had needed to hear at that age, a core of something to hold onto that could open her eyes to all the good things and banish the fear.
Mandrake didn't get a good look at the letter before Marigold snapped it closed with a flick of her claw and put it in the same bag as the small widgets and gadgets.
"We can't destroy them or disable them until we know what they are or what they do. For all we know each one of them has some kind of bomb inside of them, or releases some kind of malicious computer virus into the system of a hospital if they stop functioning." She said, jingling the little bag again as she closed the clue. Closing her eyes, blinking away the tears for a moment, smiling at Circe. "I'm fine. Just a moment of memory. Come on. Far as I can tell we're coming to the end of things. Follow meee!" She called, sailing down over the edge of the building toward the warehouse district at the edge of the town, where all the best bad stuff went down.

Circe looked at Marigold her smile a bit wider but said nothing else. It was clear to the spider child that this Fanbeemon was trying to make her feel better. Why was unknown to her which made her wary. Her wariness of strangers was likely going to be a difficult obstacle to overcome since the little one didn't trust easy. Mandrake took notice of this and smiled at his youngest child which Circe caught out of the corner of her eye causing her to look at her father returning his smile with one of her own. Sure she at some level still had a level of mistrust with Mandrake and his fiance Lothar but she was getting that they were nothing like her mother.
Unfortunately Mandrake didn't get a good look at the letter before Marigold closed it but the magician was getting more of a suspicion that she was hiding something. He had a feeling that things would reveal themselves soon enough.
Then Marigold said they couldn't destroy or disable the devices without knowing what they were or what they did which made sense if there were things like bombs or computer viruses rooted to them. When Circe asked if Marigold was okay Marigold said she was and that she was having a moment of memory. Before Mandrake could say anything though the Fanbeemon sailed over the edge of the building calling out to them to follow her. Looking at Circe while deactivating his holosuit, Mandrake said "Well then let's go, Circe. Divine Transformation!" The Wizardmon then transformed into a regular sized Japanese Crow and took flight. Circe then used her magic to create a super strong spider thread before swinging on it following Mandrake and Marigold.
OOC: Mandrake uses his Divine Transformation to turn into a Japanese Crow to follow Marigold.
[RAM UPGRADE] Divine Transformation: Allows Mandrake the ability to transform into various Human World animals. The animals can be bigger or smaller than average. The night was gorgeous from up here, the way that the deep navy of the night sky seemed almost to shine down on everything, moonlight casting deep shadows and creating silver tinted highlights onto every surface as she soared over the city in a glide.
Eventually she seemed to find the warehouse she had been looking for, landing on the roof of one of the nondescript buildings that lined up row on row near the city's port. The sound of trucks and forklifts in the distance showed that this part of the world's biggest city never truly slept but it was abandoned enough for the moment. When the investigating Digimon landed on the floor the lights clicked on with heavy, industrial switches sending echoing CLUNKS through the air.
"I see you think you've sniffed out my plans, you meddling heroine." Came a very familiar voice that landed from out of the darkness with a flip and a spin before...it was Zack. It was very obviously Zack. He was wearing a new costume, a purple helmet with a matching long coat over a color corrected version of his normal costume, but from the voice, to the acrobatic martial arts, there's literally no other human being that it could possibly be.
"You have yet to truly best us. We will simply take the pieces of our device from your cold, dead hands." Violet said, Marigold's usually calm and even pacifistic sibling floating down from somewhere near the ceiling.
It was at that moment that Zack and Violet actually noticed that Marigold had brought company with her, Zack stood up straight and paused, cackling as he threw his head back and shook his head.
"Now Marigold, that's just mean." He explained, slipping his helmet off and under his arm as he put it together that Marigold must have left out some pertinent information.

The group made their way to a certain warehouse with Mandrake and Circe following Marigold. Circe's webbing touched down on the roof as she pulled herself to the roof landing silently. Mandrake landed a short time later before turning back to his true form. He could feel it. There was a familiar mental presence he knew all too well and as he turned his head in the direction of the familiar voice he saw Zack dressed in a different outfit with an unfamiliar Gizumon that he hadn't met before. Yet the two of them were playing villian which caused Circe to back up and scurry behind her Wizardmon father snuggling into the safety of the back of the wizard's cape.
"So was this some sort of training exercise for Marigold? I knew something was up when you weren't with Marigold, Zack." Mandrake said with a chuckle before he looked at Violet and said "So whose this with you, Zack?"

"Ah, well Marigold decided to add some pranking onto her birthday present. Yes, this whole thing was a war game, leaving her clues and the like all over the city of a new and mysterious villain." He said, jerking a thumb at himself. He had already made one makeshift tokusatsu styled outfit, why not one more, just for his daughter? "This is Violet, my second child." He said, introducing the round robot who raised one of their razor sharp limbs dangling off the side of their body and waved it nicely.
"Each clue came with a note that would lead her to part of her present. Assembled by her robotic sibling." Violet said, holding out one of their long silver tendrils. Marigold handed over the jingling sack that had been bound around her neck. Violet smiled and floated over to one side of the room, the sound of mechanical parts clicking together filling the room as they began to work.
