Falling, falling... he feels his body falling rapidly. The resistance provided by the wind presses on his back. The friction was almost hot, even though the rest of him is cold. Is it evening? He couldn't remember...he can't even open his eyes at the moment. it's that strange feeling like when it felt like you were falling from your bed while you slept even though you actually are secure above the bed. He was expecting his body to jolt soon, but, it did not. If anything, what followed was surprising. He could hear the unmistakable sound of sploshing, followed by sensation of cold water. He tried to struggle, to open his eyes, to claw his way out of the water.... but it was to no avail. Is this how his life going to end?
...but no, the world still had mercy for him, he felt something strong pulling him back out. His body no longer enveloped by water. He coughed, gasping for air. His head felt like splitting... and it was such a strong pain that he moaned out loud. There was various sounds, sounds that he had no idea where it came from... but just as quickly as he regained some form of consciousness, he slipped into unconsciousness once more.
...and then, when he came to, he felt something warm in front of him... ah, is that bonfire? ...He felt slightly better, but still groggy.
"...Do not move, child of man," a deep voice told him. "While I did not sense an external injury from you, it was an undeniable fact that you have just fallen from the sky. It would be prudent for you to rest more."
"...Ngh?"
"...Could it be... that you did not understand me?"
"Ng..." the boy nodded. It was a bit too hard for his young brain to fully understand.
"...Ah, curses... I am not used to speak in commoner's tongue. ...Stay still, you are hurt. Do you understand this?"
"Ng..." the boy nodded again. His body does feel very sluggish and hurt.
"...I have requested aid--I mean, I have asked around... for help. My body... too big to help you. I am... not dexterous enough. Let us hope that aid will soon come. Where... is your Digimon partner?"
What's... Digimon partner? He doesn't get it... but finally, his vision starting to adjust. It's evening, probably quite late at night even... but what's the most surprising is the massive armored lion man in front of him. His armor glittered like the night sky, with a particularly big gem on his center chestpiece. His face looked almost half natural, half masked. But either way, he noticed a wound on the side of the Digimon.
"...Have you came to? Stay rested-- I mean, do not move. Do not push yourself too much. You are still recovering."
"...Who...?"
"Ah, you ask of my identity, boy? I am a warrior, honored enough to be accepted in one of the high seats of the stars; of Luminous Braves. I am Kabelacedmon of the Leo Seat. Human such as yours most likely have never heard of us, but..."
"Strong... Warrior?"
"...Fufufu. It is as you said, young one. Indeed, I am strong... however, it's prudent that you stay rested for now. I will humor you once you have eaten... Mgh..."
The lion man looked around. He need assistance to take care of the boy... it's really hard when you're practically towering over him by several meters.

Evening. The glistening moon in the night sky illuminated the chill beach, it's reflection being only slightly blurred in the sloshing and splashing of waves of the sea. The cold breeze from the sea made the black guilmon shiver slightly, but he wasn't bothered by it. If anything it beat the cold mountain air any day of the week, so even if he could have done something about the cold chances are he would have still opted not to.
He still patted at the little poncho hung over his shoulder like a bindle, checking with his palm and claws the temperature of the package wrapped in various pieces of cloths and fabric that he carried in there. Even if the cold wasn't a problem for him, he could never be too sure it wouldn't bother his little passenger: unhatched eggs were famously picky about what temperature they were kept at. He gave self assured nod as he made doubly sure it was still warm.
"You doing ok?" He asked the egg with a smile, and predictably the little oval kept quiet, save perhaps for the slightest of nudges that for all Gio knew was probably just due to it shifting around as he walked. "Good, but if you're ever cold just say something, ok?" Gio retorted to the non answer with a warm smile, giving his passenger a gentle tap.
As lovely as the nightly walk was however, he'd be lying if he said he wasn't looking for a good place to stop and rest for a bit, which was probably a big ask in this place...or so he thought, until his eyes noticed the distant crackling light of a bonfire not too far from him. Without thinking about it twice he made a beeline for it, clearly having learnt little about his last interaction having done such a thing.
Much to his surprise however he came upon a bit of a concerning scene: a small human boy laid by one side, his lost gaze betraying a sense of strangeness and complete confusion about whatever predicament he was facing. Next to him stood a tall armored leomon like digimon, either standing watch or guard over the kid, an injury on his side that he either didn't seem to care or notice.
Against his better judgement, he'd clear his throat slightly before calling out to either of the two, standing slightly away from the light of the fire.
"U-uhm, excuse me, are you two alright?" He asked somewhat sheepishly, before quickly adding, "I was hoping for a place to rest but I can look elsewhere."

"Mmm!" the big lion Digimon ears perked up, alerted at the voice of a newcomer. "...Is it reprive that you seek, o powerful one?" he asked. "In that case, do not hesitate and join us. However, if you do not mind, I would like to ask favor of you."
Well this is... strange. He does know that in real world there couldn't be a lion man this huge, or a talking lizard with egg for sure. Is he dreaming? Or is he transported somewhere? The young boy pinched his cheek. Ow. It hurts, so... this is reality? In that case, is he somewhere that he had no idea where?
"...Powerful one! You seemed to be of better size compared to me in feeding the child. I would like to ask of your assistance to check on the boy. He had fallen from the sky, along with the star shower. He came alone, without any Digimon partner on his side! Which made me believe that they are yet met. I knew very little of human and their needs, but upon glancing at your form, and how you felt very strong despite your frame, I came to, pardon me if I am mistaken, a conclusion that you are or were partnered with a human yourself. If such conclusion was unwelcome or untrue, then again, I apologize. However, I am in dire need of assistance... well, the boy is."
After he said so, the lion man returned back to gaze at the sea. "...The boy must be fed to recover, and I will hunt for some fish. If you do not mind, would it be too much to request that you stay by his side? I will not go far."

"Powerful one?" Gio asked aloud, rather perplexed. He gave a glance behind himself, then to the sides and finally, above, but try as he might he couldn't see this "powerful one" the shining lion spoke of. Could he...possibly be refering to himself? At any rate it seemed the digimon was friendly enough, so he gladly took up the offer for reprieve as he got closer to the fire.
"Thank you! And sure, if I can be helpful." He replied with a smile, carefully placing the egg down by his side in the ground, making sure it was wrapped up and nicely protected from the cold sand.
What really took Gio aback then however was learning that, indeed, the digimon was giving the guilmon the title of "powerful one". Well that was certainly...new! He didn't disagree and he could understand why he thought that, but nearly nobody else seemed to ever point that out. "W-well, you're not wrong." He said, the faintest hint of a blush in his features as he awkwardly scratched the back of his neck. The fact he assumed how to take of a human due to being so obviously partnered however was something that was quite harder to place for him, at least emotionally speaking.
Gio didn't quite enjoy being reminded of Carlos right now, but it's not like he could blame the lion for bringing it up. Pushing those conflicting thoughts aside however, he focused his attention on the boy, nodding slightly as he put together a picture of the situation in his mind whilst the lion kept explaining.
"So...you're not his partner then?" He pondered for a moment. Well, the kid didn't seem to have a digivice on him, and surely the digimon would be able to tell if there was such a bond between the two right away, so the lizard didn't question it further than that, instead giving another nod. Looking after the kid was all he had to do? That was easy, he had plenty of experience with that already! Or at least that's what he thought as he absent mindedly gave the wrapped egg another look before facing back to the digimon. "Ok then! I'll stay by his side. You can count on me mister...uh..." Right, they hadn't really introduced eachother yet.
"Oh, I'm Gio by the way. "Powerful One's"...a bit long."

"I am indeed not," the huge lion man answered. "I thought it might have been a forgone conclusion as I am already at my late stage of evolution... But no, I am here simply by coincidence. The very same that led you here. My more superstitious cohorts might say that this is a destiny... be as it may, I am just glad that I could assist such a young child."
The big lion man summoned an axe out of thin air and tossed it to the distance, where he spotted a sizeable fish. He slowly waddled thorough the water to grab the fish that he just hunted, seemingly not caring about the fact that sea water has touched the fresh wound on his side. The sizeable fish would most likely enough to feed the boy and Gio, but he too need to eat. So he entered deeper and tossed his axe again at certain spot. Now, with two huge fish, one each arm, he returned back to the shore after gutting them.
Oh, so his name is Gio? "Well come and well met, Gio," the lion man opened his arms wide, greeting him. "Pardon me for my remiss of not introducing myself prior. Of personal name I have naught, but I held the Leo seat of Luminous Braves. Kabelacedmon is what I am. Hm... Your presence does not tell me that you are that old of age; It made sense that you might not know, but... long, long ago in foregone years, I was a gladiator. Quite the renown one, actually. At that era I went with the gladiator name 'Regulus', but... I have since treated those era akin to a youthful foolishness. I dropped the name in favor of honoring my teacher who humbled me, the previous holder of the seat. You may address me however you please.
...Also, if it was not too much to ask, would you... help me simplify my speech? It have been... eons since I spoke in tongue of the mass. The boy, alas, perhaps due to his age, lacks the sophistication needed to fully understand my speech."
To ease the cooking process, the lion man Digimon made several fillets from the fish. He also took some coconut and bore hole on it with his claw. "...The boy might need some liquid in his system, but finding freshwater is a bit of an impossible task at the moment with him being that weak. Perhaps... these coconuts might help. Would you like some, yourself? Do not hesitate and do help yourself to it if so you wish."

"Hm! Destiny or not I guess we're all very lucky to be here. You saved a kid, and gave us a place to rest too." The black lizard nodded in affirmation. He really wasn't one to believe too hard in higher powers and the like, but he knew when to be grateful of one's good fortune. Even if it was a bit of a mixed back for the human kid right now, what with being sent to a strange world out of the blue.
Gio winced slightly as the lion dipped his body and wound into the salty water as he reached for their meal, to the point Gio couldn't hold back his tongue any longer once his host returned back by the fire.
"I'm sorry, but if you don't mind me asking, why are you hurt like that?" He pointed at his wound, concern in his voice. "Is there anything I can do to help? I don't know how to heal but...I could learn." He offered, half heartedly, wondering if he should have asked Bloom if she had a way to share her healing abilities around.
"It's nice to meet you too Kabela...Kaleb..." He stammered a bit, having a bit of difficulty with the consonant laden name of the digimon. "Can I call you Kabel, sir?"
He pondered the possibility of calling him Regulus, but seeing how he didn't speak highly of his time bearing that name, it was probably better to avoid it. Speaking of which Gio's head tilted slightly at the mention of his gladitorial past, something the guilmon could more than certainly relate to. "Really...I used to be one of those too! Well, kinda. I fought a lot in front of crowds for someone else's sake so I guess it kinda counts." He pondered for a moment, shaking his head after a bit. "I'm...still not sure what to think about it, really."
At the mention of "Kabel's" rather archaic form of speech, Gio couldn't help but chuckle slightly. "Yeah, and I thought my brother talked funny sometimes." He said as he reached for one of the opened coconuts with a grateful nod, before asking, "So uh, you want me to teach you how to talk normally? I mean-!" He quickly corrected himself "More..."presently"? Like...how people talk today I guess?"

"Indeed, and for that, I will take it as it is. We are fortunate, simple as that," the lion man concluded. "...Do you mind checking on the boy, perchance? I know naught of a Digimon who would be fine after hitting the water on their back after falling from such height, let alone a human. Yet it's an undeniable fact that the boy is responsive... Yet, I could not shake off my concern..."
Once the lion man returned to the shore, Gio spoke up. The boy too, seem to notice. "...Doesn't it... hurt?" he asked, voice soft.
"...Mmm, there is no need to concern yourselves over such wound. I... I think I need to tell you how this happened, eh? ...Well you see, evolution to one of the Luminous Braves are treated quite prestigiously, especially by those who are aware. We do not dare to name ourselves as exalted as Royal Knight, but our inception is almost similar to Olympus XII and BAN-TYOs. We are simply strong warriors with power to reach the next stage. As if that was not enough, those who took the mantle may live for hundreds of years. We are luminous warriors who are blessed by the stars. And just like how the stars shines at the darkest of night, forevermore, we too are like them.
Those who wishes to be a Luminous Brave will have to face the trial of Luminous Brave and challenges the previous seat. Just like how I challenged my master for the seat by his own urging. However, there are far easier way to do this, at the risk of being a craven, a fallen star."
The lion man stared at his own wound. "I had been done in, by a craven who aimed for my seat. He wished to have my form for himself, and ascend to the seat of Leo of Luminous Braves." Kabelacedmon rubs on his chest gem. That gem twinkled, just like the star. "...Kabelacedmon - Qalb-al-Asad-- Heart of the Lion, Regulus. Twelve of us are named after the brightest stars of the twelve zodiacs, with wishes that we stay true and become the light that shines upon all. To inspire, to lighten the way in the darkness. This form may only be unlocked by a true Luminous Braves or the previous holder of the seat. But what if the data is downloaded into the body of Digimon of the same type?"
He let Gio came to the conclusion himself. "To ensure his victory he used a cursed dagger that prevented the wound from being healed. I am ashamed, but I am now no more than a wounded lion with broken teeth. I had no more power to wield my actual weapon. This wound on my side was too deep. Knowing that my time will eventually come, I wandered around, searching for a worthy successor, just as my master once did. Unfortunately... too many of those who I found are wanting. If I passed the seat to them just like that, they will undoubtedly lost against the craven."
He glanced at Gio and smirked. "Were you came to be a beast man Digimon, I would have asked you if you would be interested to succeed me, but alas... It only meant my journey is not over."
"...So, does it hurt?" the boy asked again.
....Ah, the talk is heavy for him and he didn't understand huh. "...Mmm, no, it's not. Do not worry, young one."
The lion man chuckled at Gio's difficulty. "...Kal would be good. That was what my master called me."
Hmm, so Gio too was a gladiator. "...Gladiatorial life is not easy, definitely. However I am glad to see that despite such past, you are filled with kindness and brightness."
Mmm, though his request was taken in differently. Kabelacedmon shook his head. "...Nay, I only wish you to help me translate my speech to the boy-- ah, pardon..." he grabbed the cooked fish fillet on stick and handed it to Gio. "Your share." and then to the boy. He blinked when he noticed that the fillet is literally almost as big as the boy-
".............................I might have sliced it with my size in mi--"
But the boy hungrily grabbed the meat and eats it. The lion man's gaze softened as he held it for the boy. "...Easy now, no one will take this food away. Eat slowly, enjoy it."

"Oh, sure!" The guilmon nodded as he turned to the boy, leaning forward slightly to get a closer look, trying to see if there was any noticeable injury on him that might needed more attention. "How are you feeling, is anything hurting?"
He could only wonder what was going through his mind right now, alone in a foreign world with only digimon for company. Gio couldn't wrap his head about how that could even feel, but he understood enough to feel a bit for the kid.
"Hey, it's ok to be scared you know, but you don't need to be, you'll be safe and back home in no time I'm sure." He said reassuringly, lightly patting the boy's head. He wasn't sure if this was in any way helpful or not to the situation, but it was the best he could do without overstepping boundaries, something Carlos had taught him to be pretty important. A small sting of pain was felt somewhere deep within when the image of the tamer came up in the back of his brain, but he did his best to shove that back inside, though thankfully Kabel offered a good distraction from that in the form of the nature of his wound, as well as a lot more info about himself.
Gio kept quiet during the entire thing, only quietly nodding to show he was still paying attention, transfixed by the grandiose tales and imagining how the other eleven Luminous could even be, as well as this so called "craven" that would go to such lengths for power. Gio felt he probably should know a thing or two about that last part, but frankly the memories of his past life as Sloth were so few and far between it was hard to tell them apart from weird dreams. Dio was the one that kept a better account of those days, not him.
While he was admitedly slightly dissapointed in not even being able to qualify as a possible succesor, the guilmon took it in stride and nonetheless accepted the compliment with a smile.
"Thank you, sir. I'd try my best if that were the case, but I don't think it would be a good idea even if I were a beast." A former demon lord and a twin taking such a position? Surely there were more qualified individuals to take that role. As for the comment about him being full of kindness despite his equally violent past he'd also give a smile and nod to that, though a more subdued one as he seemed to ponder a response for a moment.
"Well, even back then they always told me that as long as I kept myself happy and looking ahead, nothing would stop me for long. I think they were right about that, even if they were wrong about a lot else." He shrugged, conflicted as he felt sometimes about those early days he'd be lying if he said he didn't come away from it without at least some good. "You seem really kind too Kal, you saved the boy and even look after him." He wanted to believe that was something every other digimon worth their salt would have done but...as of late he had grown a bit wiser to such a simplistic view of things.
As he was handed the fish filet he too would dig is as hard as human kid, taking big chunks away with each bite, though he did stop every so often to actually enjoy the taste. "So good..."
At the very least what the lion asked as a favor seemed a lot more doable than first anticipated, though the question is if he should start now.
"Uhm, he means you should probably take smaller bites. It might hurt your stomach otherwise." Well, if nothing else his heart was in the right place.

The boy noticed that the black lizard is approaching him, then asked him kindly if he's fine and what he's feeling. Is there anything hurting? The boy shook his head.
"No... there's nothing... really hurting at the moment."
"...Hmmm, nothing hurting? ...Should I be worried about that and brings him to the chirurgeon I wonder," Kabelacedmon mused.
"...Scared?" the boy asked back. "...What... to be scared of?" he tilted his head. "If this place have good people like Mr. Lion or Mr. Lizard with egg... I think I'll be fine?"
"...Curses, now this is not the kind of response I'm expecting!" Kabelacedmon cursed. "If anything this is even more dangerous than a scared kid! This kid might actually do not have much of self preservation instict, and that is... really unthinkable of! Even if he hit his head it should not have completely erases his sense of danger!"
"...Mr. Lizard, are you going for a night stroll with your egg? A stroller would be easier to your back I think..." the boy suggested.
"His name is Gio, young one. What about you? Do you have a name?"
"Name? I do... it's---"
...But there was a long pause that made even Kabelacedmon face blanched. "...Oh... Oh... young one... young one could it be that you... do not have any memories of your life prior to this?"
"... ... ...Who I am actually?"
Kabelacedmon facepalmed. "...Ah... so we must start from there? Do you... remember where your home is?"
"...Not here, definitely. Home... no, I don't remember anything about it."
Oblivious to his face as he talked about home, the boy's eyes looked... like he was staring off at faraway place. The kind of look that someone would give when they're trying to distance themselves from the talk of something traumatic. Kabelacedmon noticed this and squinted.
"...Gio, ...from what I gleaned of the boy's reaction... perhaps, it might not be an exaggeration that some foul things have been done to him. I... I think that perhaps his amnesia might have been related to certain shock that might happened in his place of residence... I would not dare to call that place 'home'... considering how he reacted to that word."
Then he looked at the boy once more. The boy is busy stuffing his cheeks with the fish meat, as if he haven't ate for days. "... The boy does not have any home, nor that this world would be kind to a creature this frail. I... what should I do? My path is perilous, ill-suited for a child inexperienced with fight and danger. Yet to who must I entrust this child to? My heart aches with the thought of harm befelling him...
...Do you... perhaps know someone who... could help?"

"Huh? How is that bad? Isn't it better if he's not afraid?" Gio questioned while tilting his head, clearly not understanding the full extent of the situation. Probably because he too had very few actual fears. Perks of lacking wordly knowledge and self awareness I guess.
That of course also meant he didn't know what a stroller was, but other than that he mostly got the gist of the boy's question. "It's ok! She's not too heavy, see?" He replied as he carefully brought the egg closer, holding it close in case the boy wanted to try and pick it up to see for himself. "Actually though, we're just travelling, so its more of a day long stroll I guess."
The peppy and jovial tone of the conversation was slowly diminished however as the boy could answer less and less about his life on the other side, something which puzzled Gio. Had he really hit his head that hard? Kal however brought up another possibility, one that felt so wrong Gio took a while to fully understand at first, giving the lion a confused look. At least until he noticed the boy's distant eyes and it all just...clicked.
Those were not the eyes of someone longing to go back home.
"Oh..." He fell silent, at a loss for words. Really what COULD he even say to this? Everything about this situation felt wrong. After a moment however he did the only thing he could figure. He gently wrapped his arms around the boy in a warm hug, though he'd be quick to retract it should the kid show any sort of discomfort from it.
"You'll be safe here then, promise." That being said though Kal brought a good, concerning point: now what? They obviously couldn't just leave him here, but if the lion was to be believed he couldn't just take him under his wing. So...could the guilmon come up with something? He seemed to ponder for a moment, eyes drifing between the two and the egg. A sad sigh followed.
"I wish I could offer that but...I don't think I can manage two at the same time if she hatches. And I think Carlos or Dio; my family; are also too busy...I'm sorry."
A spark of inspiration would flare up in his eyes however before he said in a more chipper tone,
"Welll...what if we looked for a place for him? Maybe take him to the Village of Begginings?"

"No, it is, in fact, bad," Kabelacedmon answered. "Let us think of it this way: Say a fish that normally swims in the river by chance reached a huge reservoir, perhaps a lake, for example. That fish never been there before.... would the fish behaves in a devil may care kind of way? Would it suddenly just swims like it owned the place? No, I would not say so. It is similar to when a child Digimon happens to be spirited away to Dark Area... and suddenly they would approach any strong Digimon without care. Would they not get loaded almost immediately?"
"Travelling?" the boy asked again. "Does Mr. Lizard... uh, Mr. Gio have any destination in mind?" he asked.
The hug was sudden. The boy had no idea why he was hugged but... somehow, he melted into it and hugged back. "Hehe... Mr. Gio, you're warm... That's odd, I hard lizards are supposedly cold, but you're really warm..."
"No, no, I would not impose, considering..." Kabelacedmon pointed at the egg. "I am well aware that you are stretched thin of help you can provide, and I do not blame you, certainly."
Place...eh.
"...no, village of beginning would not be a good place. Human child of this age would be closer to a child stage, perhaps? In that case, I think we should not go there, but to Rosewood. It is fairly new city and apparently was very close to the training ground, where I would like to see if there is any potential disciple. Perhaps, a Leomon, or perhaps if I am lucky, a Panjyamon... hmn. What says you? Would you like to accompany us eastward?"

While admitedly a bit of an odd comparison at first, Gio would eventually find himself nodding in understanding at Kal's metaphor. Indeed, the poor kid would probably not last long at all if he was that fearless. All the more reason to keep a good eye on him then.
"Well..." The lizard pondered on that question for a moment. "At first I wanted to find a place for her," Gio said, gently rubbing the top of the egg, "but after a while I...travelled just to travel, really. No destination, I just like to walk. Helps me think. And I think she likes it more when she's not sitting still."
As the kid laughed and melted in delight into the black lizard's hug, he couldn't help but smile back once he finally let go. Lizards were cold on earth? Funny, considering how most of the ones Gio knew could spit fire at the bare minimum. "Well, I'm not a normal lizard I guess."
Rosewood...that was one of the few places Gio had yet to properly visit of the Digital World. As chance would have it he simply hadn't had a chance or reason to ever go there, even back when Carlos and Dio played a more active role on his life.
"Sure! I'd love to." Gio replied almost without thinking, tail swinging back and forth as his eyes burned with eagerness. Not even he seemed sure why he was so invested in going at this point, maybe he just really needed a destination, an objective to pursue, maybe he just really wanted to help Kal and the boy. Regardless his mind had been settled long ago, as soon as Kal had asked him for help looking after the kid in fact. His excited bravado calmed down somewhat however, as he'd ask a rather obvious question. "Uhm...we're probably going in the morning right? After we're all rested."

Kabelacedmon looked straight at Gio, as if he's trying to probe his soul. "...Mmm, nevermind, it would be very uncouth of me to probe you for more." ...It's seem that the old lion man thought that Gio is not only walking around without destination, but more that he's running away from meeting his old entourages. The fact that it's too awkward to be reunited.
"...However, do know that... if you would like a listening ear, I would gladly lend you one."
Mmmm so their shared goal does indeed make them much more perky. He guess that they really are guided here by the stars to share some moments of their life. It aligns, and so they do. Gio's question was met with a chuckle from Kabelacedmon. "Indeed. However, if you think we could find any cave or something... with better insulation, it would makes sense for us to instead head to said direction. However, if you know none then perhaps it is better if we spend the night here. Do you happen to know any?" he asked.
"Insulation?"
"You are wet, boy. Your body losing warmth quite quickly. You will get sick."
"...Mh." suddenly, the boy opened his arms wide.
"Huh? What is the meaning of this? Are you asking for embrace? No no, I am too enormous to hug you without harming you."
"Mh."
"........" sighing, Kabelacedmon offered his hand. Immediately, the boy hugged his hand, looking absolutely pleased.
"Tou-chan... warm..."
"Tou-chan...? ...I see... so you view me that way...?" Kabelacedmon thought that the boy clung to him because he was the first one to rescue him and looked genuinely concerned for him... "....as you wish. As long as you are under my wing... I will allow that."
Hah, to think that his son would be a human... But it does makes the lion's heart warm.

"Huh?" At first that intense staring down from the massive lion was more perplexing than anything, the guilmon looking back at him with a puzzled glance. It was only when the lion spoke once more that things clicked in his brain as it was obvious that Kal didn't fully buy his reasoning for travelling alone. Even after the offer of a friendly ear, Gio couldn't quite manage to return the stare, face trailing down as his claw drew half hearted lines on the sand, as if trying to look busy. How succesful his attempt would be was debatable at best.
"Ah, sure...thanks." He barely said back, carefully grabbing the egg once more and safely putting it rags and all back over his shoulder. His features softened considerably as the subject of a place to stay came up at least.
"I saw a pretty nice cave not too far from here. Seemed pretty empty, only reason I didn't stay there is because I saw your fire in the distance." He explained, pushing himself back up and slapping away grains of sand from his legs.
Just as he was getting ready to get going the kid decided he really wanted to embrace Kal for some reason, and while he was reticent at first, he eventually caved, looking quite pleased himself even if he didn't notice. Gio smiled at the boy's words. "Tou-chan", he had heard that plenty of times back in Shibuya to understand what they meant. Truth be told, he couldn't think of something more fitting.
"...I'll go ahead to the cave, you two follow whenever you want." He said with a nod as he slowly began walking, not wanting to be the one to break up the moment between the two.

"Mmm, I will bring some kindling and firewood later," Kabelacedmon informed, still unsure how to proceed with the boy still nuzzling on his hand. Human, they're very small, he thought. This boy too, he's not not even as tall as his full palm. Even so, there's just something that made him happy being able to support this child.
"Mmm, boy, it is time, can you walk?"
A nod from the boy.
"That is great. Now, let us depart. Carry as much dried twigs as you could, and let us met with Gio... ah, perhaps I should bring the rest of the meat just in case...? Are you still hungry, boy?"
...a nod. Huh, the boy is a bigger eater than he thought, but that is good. Hungry is a proof of the body's desire to live. To live you require nutrients. Which means that it's the best for the boy to get as much food as he could. However, they must be quick, while all meat diet is fine for one or two days, they need other kind of diet for the boy too... if only there are some tubers around...
tubers? Oh right, there should be some around. He just need to find some. Either way, they soon arrived to the cave.
"...Mmm, it is indeed as empty as you said. We should be fine to spend the night here. Tomorrow, I would like to request of your assistance to help me finding tubers. The boy's diet must not consist of merely cooked flesh. He must eat vegetables, fruit, and also carbohydrates. At the very least that what my master told me about certain diet. Afterward, we are heading to whitewater first to stock up before heading eastward. Is this plan agreeable?"
