Even though she had something important to say, Sakura probably should have expected that barely anyone would show. Naturally, Matsuri responded that she couldn’t make it, and that Elly, Miki, Kirara, and Arisa were being dragged off towards some odd misadventure. And of course, Annika and Reiko couldn’t deign to grace Sakura with their appearance. Well, that could be said for Annika, at least. Reiko was just probably following her dark kitty-counterpart.
Regardless, the only people that managed to arrive in Rosewood were the ever-loyal Momo, the kind Misaki, the gentle Emmy, their fearless leader Hotaru, and... oh yeah, Midori was also here, too! Sakura almost forgot about her for a second. But whether Midori was there or not, the overall lack of attendance made the meeting room that Sakura rented out a little too spacious for her liking. Though, with what Sakura was going to tell the group, the location wasn’t going to matter much.
“Everyone, I have something I’ve been keeping a secret for a little while,” Sakura began, as Momo, Emmy, Midori, and Misaki all listened intently while Hotaru was staring at her Digivice as if she were tinkering with some app or something. There was a look of concern growing over each of their faces as she continued “I’ve been remembering some things. Things that... didn’t make very much sense to me until I finally found out the answer.” The pink Vmon triggered her holosuit, that of a small, slender young woman with brown hair. Despite being in her mid-teens, the holosuited girl looked to be in early middle school at the latest.
“My name is Sakura. Shinryuji Sakura. As far as I remember, I was born in Okinawa, where my family ran a small dojo. And even though I know I’m a Digimon, I remember being born a human. A human who, much like Hotaru, used to have a Digivice.” Sakura scanned the large room, to see conflicting looks of confusion and worry from Emmy, Midori, and Momo. Misaki simply gave Sakura a sad smile and a knowing nod, while Hotaru looked up from her Xros Loader, and sighed.
“Well, I figured it was gonna be something like that,” Hotaru groaned. “And I have the feeling it’s not just Sakura, either. If the info I got from a terrifying cyborg wolf is correct, chances are all of you guys are in the same boat.”
A Terriermon, Emmy, triggered her holosuit as she looked over her human disguise, the form of a preteen blonde with bright blue eyes that had a shocking amount of awareness in them. “I’ve always thought that this holosuit felt comfortable. More than my real body. But I always just thought it was because I was taller and had longer limbs. And my ears didn’t drag dirt with me every time I walked somewhere,” Emmy noted. For as little as she thought of herself, the little lass had a surprisingly level head. “So then, even if we all don't remember it, you're saying that all of us were originally human, but we were somehow turned into Digimon?”
“Don’t know much about it,” Hotaru admitted, shrugging as if she weren’t involved. “That Tsubaki chick certainly seemed to think so, but I also...“ Hotaru paused, as if she didn’t want to say something. “Well, let’s just say that it might be a bit more complicated than that.”
“I don’t get any of this...” Momo complained, leaning forward, her face contorted in absolute agony as it looked like her little brain was fried. But for as little as her imagination could take her, she was able to focus in on something else that Sakura had said. “But Sakura, you were really like Hotaru and you had your own Digimon, and everything? Then what happened to your Digimon partners?”
Sakura was grimly silent before answering. “That is... I’m honestly not too sure about that. I remember going on adventures with Artie and Lan, but I don’t remember ever stopping, or what happened to them. But there’s a way I think that I might be able to contact them. They have a home not too far out from Rosewood, so I was hoping that maybe... all of you could come with me,” Sakura lowered her head as she bowed in front of her comrades. “In fact, please come with me! It’s probably something that I should do on my own, but...”
Sakura felt a reassuring pat on her head as she looked up to see Misaki’s warm, smiling face. The Lucemon gave an understanding nod as the other girls stood behind her with a grin on their face. “Of course we’re going to help you!” Emmy stated, sounding almost insulted that Sakura even had to ask.
“You’d do the same for us, so we have to help you, silly!” Momo stated, fluttering around them with her Pomumon body. Meanwhile, a Wormmon crawled into view giving an excited nod.
“I really want to help out, too! And maybe we can make new friends, right Hotaru?” Midori turned towards their general, who was the only person not smiling at the moment, but rather than her typical scowl, she seemed more distracted than anything.
“Hmm? Yeah, right, I guess we can give it a try,” She finally answered. “Your old partners might be able to tell us some stuff we don’t know yet, too.”
“Then it’s settled!” Sakura agreed, looking over towards her comrades who were so readily able to assist her. There was an odd warmth she felt just being around them, settling in her stomach, almost as if she were nauseated, but instead, felt comforted, somehow. “Everyone, let’s hit the deck!” Everyone seemed confused by Sakura's choice of words, but they would understand eventually.
