Name: Eri Hirabayashi
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Height: 158cm
Weight: 48kg
Birth Date: May 1
Birth Place: Shibuya
Digivice: Dark Blue and White D-Tector
Personality: Eri has a rather strange, yet unoriginal philosophy in life - Appearances matter. It's not because she's a shallow person, but simply something she's come to believe. Everyone can only spend so much time on this planet, so it's important to always leave a good first impression. And when meeting someone for the first time, the first thing anyone will notice about someone is their appearance. And unfortunately for Eri, her very nature tends to leave a bad first impression.
Eri is, by nature, a surly, gloomy individual. She can take things people say a little too personally, even when those words were never intended for her in the first place. She's prone to misunderstanding people, and it can take her a while to see the silver lining of a given circumstance, choosing instead to wallow in self-pity for a while. She's prone to treating herself as a victim of her circumstances, even though it's often her attitude that puts herself in those same circumstances.
But most of that is simply a result of her naivete. She's young, and has a tendency to let her imagination run wild, giving her an open mind for the fantastic. And for as dour and pessimistic as she can get, she can't help but think the best of people. Everyone's the main character of their own story, and all that.
Eri is a storyteller by both nature and occupation, so she tries to bring some sort of order in her own world. In reality, things can be messy and meaningless, so Eri tries a little too hard to make sense out of random circumstances. When things, be it in reality or fiction, don't have a proper "ending", then she can get a little frustrated. She's rather obsessive over loose ends.
Appearance: Eri has the typical traits of a Japanese citizen; light purple hair and aqua eyes. Don't question it, or something. Regardless, from her facial expressions to the way she stands, Eri likes to give off a composed, cool vibe that she's practiced in front of the mirror for hours on end. Naturally, it's a facade that will shatter the moment her "reality" gets broken. In order to give off the "sexy, cool girl" vibes she prefers not to get dirty. But if there's no avoiding it, she'll let out a string of curses and get dirty when she needs to.
CARDFIGHT VANGUARD • Misaki Tokura • Eri Hirabayashi
Personal History: Eri never had too much of a struggle growing up. Loving, living parents and grandparents. No siblings to argue with or compete for attention. She didn't really have many friends growing up, though. Because of her dour and gloomy outlook and appearance in her early childhood she was shy and awkward, and mostly kept to herself. But she was honestly okay with that. The girl had an expansive imagination within her, and just living in the world of her mind was enough for her. She enjoyed reading, writing, and storytelling above all else, so she had an idea of what she wanted to do with her life from a very early age. And that's exactly what Eri did. Every day, whether it a short story, fanfiction, a writing assignment, or part of some greater narrative, Eri just wanted to create. She didn't care about her work's quality so much as her aptitude in creating it in the first place. Her first year of junior high, she submitted a short story for a contest and won an award. Her second year, she was in the works for having her first book being published, and by the end of her time in junior high, she was already a fully-published novelist. And while her novel was a moderate success at best, it seemed like the sky was the limit for the girl.
But then high school happened, and some changes began to take place, in more ways than one. In addition to her newfound success, Eri had a bit of a glow-up not long after getting into high school, and it only made the formerly anti-social Eri all the more uncomfortable. People began to approach her ever since her first book published, of course, but now people who had no idea that Eri was even a writer began to try and get familiar with her. Now that people were warmer to Eri, things that she had no interest in previously became much more appealing, and the girl whose head was always in the clouds began to become a little more down to earth. But because of this change in perspective, her writing also began to change as well. She didn't write much during her high school years, as she wanted to take this time to learn about all the things that she had ignored previously.
While her high school years were otherwise uneventful, a little after graduating, she realized that all the work she made when she was a young child were, well... childish. The change in her perspective caused a shift of her priorities in writing. While before, she would write simplistic fantasy stories, feel-good tales of friendship and heroes overcoming villainy, lacking any sense of nuance or depth. Work that purposefully avoided any real-world parallels because at the time, Eri had little to no knowledge or experience of such things.
Which leads Eri to the present. A much more grounded Eri, hoping to broaden her horizons by leading a moderate, more mundane life. For Eri has had enough of things like fantasy and sci-fi!
