Moxie walked for about a day through this unfamiliar environment. While everything that surrounded him fascinated him to no end, he had no idea what was safe to touch, smell, even look at. It was nice to be able to see most of his surroundings for once though. After his ordeal in the cave, Moxie was still treading very lightly. paying attention to the ground, the trees, even the sky. Something told him he was fine to loosen up a bit, but he ignored that something since it wasn't worth the risk.
The moon was now high, illuminating the world even more than it had already been. It was still around a nighttime level of luminosity, but the cave-dweller found this to be more than enough to see comfortably. He marched on, looking at the various curled blue and purple plants that grotesquely spring from the black soil around him. He listened for any kind of movement in his surroundings, but everything was almost as deathly still as the caves, aside from the occasional rustle of dead leaves and branches in the wind. It wasn't too dissimilar to home, when the occasional draft blew in from some small crack or crevice.
At the end of his trek, Moxie finally saw something other than the forest he'd emerged into. Through the brush and bramble, he saw a bright orange light, dancing wildly up and down. A fire? Was someone warming up nearby? Moxie went on high alert, gripping his black staff with one hand tightly, ans setting down the bindle he had fashioned on the ground. His eyes sharpened and brow furrowed. He needed to be ready, who knows what kind of monster could await him on the other side of this bush. He'd take a few quick breaths, then gulp the air down his throat as he finally worked up the nerve to peek through.
On the other side was some kind of creature, sprawled out on the ground with its limbs in positions that did not look comfortable in the slightest. It was a dark green hue, with a mess of blonde hair mopping its head. Its face was long with a maw of sharpened teeth gaped open as if it were mid chomp. Its belly rose and fell steadily, was it asleep? Moxie didn't see anything else in the small clearing, just a small fire pit, the creature, and a log that it was currently using as a headrest.
Moxie slowly approached the creature, gripping his staff with both hands now. He didn't really know how to go about dealing with this guy. He didn't look like the strangers from before, maybe they didn't know each other? In any case, he looked dangerous, but Moxie didn't really have much of a choice but to ask him some questions. Since he seemed to be alone, this might be the safest option he was gonna get. He took tentative steps towards the creature until he stood above him. With a shaky voice, Moxie would speak down to him "Hello..?" As he said this, the creature immediately sprung up, grabbing the club it had been resting on in one hand and yelling out. "YES MY GOD!?!" This motion, unfortunately, caused this creature to slam its head directly into Moxie's as he stood over him. Moxie lost consciousness immediately, leaving the creature staring confusedly at his body.

Moxie awoke from his stooper, groggily and dizzily opening his eyes to see what was aroudn him. He turned his head leaft and right, and saw something bright and orange above hima few feet away. He then looked down and saw...trees? Why were the branches of a tree now below him? Looking further down, he realized that he was now bound and was hanging upside down. Frantically he began struggling with all his might to escape the bonds, but it was of no use. The vines wrapped around him were tough, way too tough to be broken by Moxie's small body while he was tied up like this. The green creature stood just below him, and wasn't even looking at Moxie, seemingly not knowing he was now awake. Moxie though about his position for a second, at least he wasn't over the fire yet, if this creature planned to eat him he at least now had the chance to plead for his life.
The green creature was humming, chanting, and dancing around in a circle around the fire. Moxie couldn't make out if he was saying words or just gibberish from his position, but it was definitely something being repeated over and over. The creature now held a bag, throwing some kind of powder into the flames as he danced around it. As he did so the fire would change hue, shining a brilliant purple color, then green, before reverting back to orange. As he danced and threw, the creature eyed the flames intensely, staring intently as if he was looking for something in the flames. He then threw another mound of the multicolored duet into the fire, this time the color only changed once, another purple, lasting for much longer than it had been there previously. The creature stopped dancing, jaw agape now as it stared at the fire, before nodding steadily at the flames. Whatever he was looking for, Moxie thinks the creature has just found it.
The green creature quickly swiveled his head around to look at Moxie, his beady eyes sharp with some kind of intent. Moxie's spine suddenly shot up, before shivering down his whole body. He frantically began flapping his lips before his brain even had a chance to acknowledge what came out of them. "W-w-wa...Wait, ah, look you don't wanna eat me, I won't taste good at all, trust me i've tried!" He had no idea why he said that last part, but then again he didn't know what he should be saying in this situation in the first place. The green creature then let out a grunt, reeling his large club back behind his head, his whole torso following suit as one of his legs left the ground. That stance...he's going to throw it! "Wai-Wai-Wait!!!" Moxie cried out in a panic as he realized what was about to happen. WIthout a second thought, the creature threw the club, and Moxie closed his eyes bracing for the worst. He then felt his body begin to fall, before landing on a pile of leaves below him. Moxie laid there for a few seconds, before scrambling to his feet, looking back at the severed vine that still hung from the tree above him. Upon looking down, he was now eye-to-eye with the creature, who was now offering him a hand up.

Moxie stared up at the large hand in front of him, before tentatively grabbing it and accepting the helping hand. Finally, this green Digimon began to speak in his low, grumbly tone. "Sorry about hitting ya earlier, thought you were someone else." He said this very casually, which clashed with Moxie's current mental state of a panicked gremlin who was just dropped on his head from a high place. After a few seconds, he breathed, and started "Thanks...for getting me down I mean, not for tying me up..." Moxie would give the digimon a concerned look "Please don't do that again..."
The stranger gave a hearty laugh, gripping a little tighter on Moxie's hand as he did so. "Ah don't worry, I just thought you were trying to steal my food or something." His voice was now very jovial and carefree, like he was talking to an old friend. "God told me you were an okay guy though, so that's all in the past." he continued, probably way too casually for the situation he was in. Moxie was very apprehensive, this was the first person he'd met since the incident, but he seems friendly enough. "I'm Vem, whaddya call yourself?" he suddenly asked. "My name? It's uh... Moxius..." Moxie didn't feel any need to lie to him, he seemed pretty straightforward, but he still couldn't let his guard down just yet. "Who is this...God? The person you were talking to." he asked his own question now. Vem tilted his head towards the sky, spouting "Well, it's not like a person, more like uh...how do I explain this..." Vem planted his club into the ground as he kept looking to the sky for a while, his mind stewing trying to come up with the right words. He then looked down, stamping he club into the ground hard as he came to the realization, which made Moxie jump a little. "God is like, something that I listen to when I don't know what to do, and I believe whatever it tells me." Moxie grabbed his chin, thinking about this explanation. "Right...I think I kinda get it." Moxie said in an unassured tone. "Actually, it told me something I've never seen it tell me before just now." Vem spilled "It said that I should follow you, and that you were someone I can trust, so I believe it."
Moxie took this in, blinking a few times as he made sure he heard Vem correctly. If this guy was telling the truth he was way too trusting, and way too straightforward to boot. Still, he was strong, and friendly to him, so Moxie decided to take the risk of accepting Vem's friendship. Besides, he was already much stronger than him. It'd be much better for Moxie to have him on his team than to let this opportunity pas by, or even have him as an enemy. Moxie took a few paces towards the fire, planting himself back down to rest as he did so. Vem, smiling, took a seat right next to him, and they began to talk.

The two of them sat around the fire and began to talk, Vem admittedly doing most of said talking while Moxie pondered whether or not to eat this large brown slab that Vem called "Meat". The only food he had ever seen was Digishrooms. Were there more kinds of food that that? Did they taste different? Was it worth the risk!?! Moxie pondered all this while Vem droned on and on about how many Digimon he had to fight to get his hands on it.
After hearing this word a few times, Moxie suddenly perked up and asked "Digimon...? What's that?" A look of bewilderment came upon Vem's face as he was asked this question. What kind of Digimon didn't even know what a Digimon is. Isn't that like, something even baby level's know inherently? Vem looked at Moxie, not knowing how to answer his question, instead opting to ask one of his own. "What kinda Digimon doesn't even know what a Digimon is?" Moxie then pointed to himself abruptly "So I'm a Digimon? Are you one too?" Vem was flabbergasted, his jaw slowly becoming agape as he realized that this guy was somehow more clueless than even his old tribemates. He thought about where he could begin his explanation, then began talking.
In his own, slightly inaccurate, portrayal, Vem described what a Digimon was, what Digivolution was, and that they were made of lines of... "Code"? Even Vem didn't quite get that last part, so he decided to brush over it for the time being. He explained the cycle of rebirth, and how once a Digimon dies it becomes an egg somewhere else, but if that data is lost they don't reincarnate. As Vem explained this, he saw Moxie's face begin to light up, before sinking back to his dreadful expression as he finished. Vem dared to ask "Uh, what's up, you look like you didn't like my explanation..." Vem then thought about what he was talking about at the time, and for once his head clicked together. "Oh...I get it. Something bad happened to someone right?" Moxie grew even quieter for a bit, tucking his head between his tiny legs tightly. This went on more a few moments before Vem went to check on him. Moxie upturned his head, tears streaming down his entire face and beginning to pool on the floor where he sat. Vem had zero idea how to deal with this, ending up just patting Moxie on the back awkwardly as he wept for an extended amount of time. After Moxie had finally slowed down a bit and caught his breath, Vem started once more. "Yeah I get it, losing someone is the worst. Especially when you care about them." Vem stopped patting Moxie on the back, and instead shoved him forwards a bit, which caught Moxie off guard. "But crying ain't gonna get you anywhere. You gotta get stronger so you can continue keeping their memory alive with ys!" Moxie, now flopped on his hands and knees, balled up his fist. Vem's words stewed in his mind, before boiling to a familiar sense of purpose. He wiped his face, stood, and said "Tell me how."
