Canceling Out or Balancing Out? (Kai)

It had been a week since Weston Sparkwood's encounter with Kai Aizawa, a week since he had taken that mysterious vial from her. It didn't surprise him at all that she was involved with the Digital World, but it was concerning that she was in possession of some unknown substance that, in her words, could cause a Digimon to be able to break reality itself. No matter how many times she persisted, Weston was not going to budge on giving that vial back. Not until he knew precisely what it was.
But this thread isn't going to focus on Weston today.
Cut to the twins, Hikaru and Kaoru Ito. Or at least, that's what they're known as by their fellow students. In reality, they were the Flamedramon-esque twins Speed and Psych, secret Digimon agents of the organization known as AEGIS. The school day at Shibuya Academy was just wrapping up, and the twins were each talking to various friends that they had before making their way to their respective clubs.
It would be Kaoru who'd be the first to notice something off. He was merely discussing mundane topics with someone from his chess club when he'd see Kai Aizawa acting rather... suspiciously. She was peeking around one of the hallway corners, observing one of the classrooms as if she were waiting for something to happen. And something did in fact happen, as the classroom door opened and Weston Sparkwood had left, looking rather annoyed as he left.
"Sir, is everything okay?" Kaoru asked his teacher, whose annoyed expression turned into a much more welcoming one upon seeing his face.
"Not at the moment, but it's nothing you need to concern yourself with, Ito," Weston calmly said to Kaoru before taking off at a rather brisk pace.
Confused by this turn of events, Kaoru entered the classroom that the teacher had just left. There, he found what appeared to be a video camera sitting on the desk. Why is this here...? Curious, Kaoru picked up the camera, turning it around and switching it to the playback mode.
On the screen, he'd see what appeared to be hours' worth of footage of just this room, from an angle that suggested that the camera was once hidden. Eventually, an adult had walked over to this camera and took it out of its hiding spot, and it was none other than Weston's face that appeared next.
"Aizawa, I know this is your doing. First it was the Mock Court and Debate Club's recent work, then it was sending three of the faculty to fight some kind of war for my affection, and now this? I'm done playing nice; you are to stop these schemes effective immediately. Have I made myself clear?"

"We have to get it back." Tera whispered to Kai through the Digivice under her uniform's blazer.
"Working on it, it's a marathon, not a sprint." Kai said as she was definitely cunning and crafty in her own way.
She was incredibly worried as she would be in the same for the past few days as she tried her best to experiment and study to see how she could resolve the situation she had with her teacher who had seized her property. Her only hope was to steal the item back from Weston and take it to Deeplane before something bad would happen to anyone in the human world. She new that Neo Dialus would potentially send an agent or worse to the human world and that would only cause more danger then needed. She thought about the situation rationally and while she trusted authorities such as AEGIS, she believed the safest place for the stolen drug was in fact inside Deeplane's research and development institute.
Soon after her teacher left, she would slowly enter the room, aware that she saw another student enter. However she was slightly mortified to see the video camera she hid inside his hands as well a shearing the video where she herself was being called out. However it was a given for her to be concerned given the circumstances, especially with the boy in front of her. She recognized his face as she saw it on the boy's track team but that was not him, but the twin. She heard of both the twin brothers but knew that while Hikaru was bright and cheery, always smelling of some trace of snacks, his brother was different.
"This just got needlessly complicated, I just need to get the vial Sparkwood stole to Deeplane, or just the Digital World in general." Kai thought to herself as she was starting to realize what sort of situation she was in. She hated to lie but this was definitely a situation where forthright honesty may not be the best thing.
"Kaoru Ito right? Is it in any way possible for you to put that down, forget what you saw, and move on like normal?" Kai asked with a sweet smile hoping to get out of this so easily.

Once the video playback on the camera had stopped, Psych heard someone call out to him, using his human alias. He turned around and saw Kai Aizawa herself. While Psych didn't really know her, she seemed to know him... or perhaps she knew Speed and put two and two together that he was his twin brother. Either way, she had the brightest of smiles on her face, politely asking Psych to put down the video camera and forget whatever he had watched on it.
"Yes, that is me," Psych answered politely. "I'm assuming you're familiar with my brother to recognize me so quickly. I'm also assuming that you're the Aizawa that Mr. Sparkwood was speaking to in the video." As for the request that Kai had made? "And if that's the case, that means this camera is yours. I'll give it back to you, but I'm afraid I'm far too curious as to what you did to make Mr. Sparkwood so angry."
While Psych's powers were limited in his holosuit, he was still able to read the emotional aura a person was giving off. From the looks of Aizawa's aura, it seemed like she was under a lot of stress for some reason. Her face was smiling, but her emotions were anything but. Psych's eyes squinted a bit. "Are you... feeling alright, by any chance?"
The door slid open once more, this time revealing the other twin's face on the other side. He looked around for a second before locking eyes with his brother. "There you are, bro! You kinda disappeared on me there."
"I'm sorry about that, Hikaru. I just saw Mr. Sparkwood acting rather strange and thought I'd investigate why."
Speed then saw the other student in the room. "Wait, Aizawa? What are you doing here? Club is going to start soon, we gotta get going!"
"Oh, I take it that you know her, then?"
"Yup! Kaoru, this is Kai Aizawa. She's on the girl's track team, so we talk every so often."

"Sorry Hikaru, I can't lap you again today. I got... other concerns." Kai said in response to the other twin entering the room. While most people got confused, Kai learned to look for facial expressions, demeanor, and scent, as they were the main factors that set these twins apart. "Though now I see you side by side, you two are definitely twins, almost carbon copies physically which among twins is almost implausible, but not totally impossible." She said since knowing Holosuits made her paranoid when it comes to situations like this.
However she was keenly aware she was not going to distract Kaoru at the moment and would probably share whatever she told with his twin regardless. Kai figured now was as good as any to share some variant of the truth without lying, but also without avoiding specifics entirely.
"Kaoru, you want the truth? Well, see, long story short I was supposed to transport an item and Mr. Sparkwood took advantage of Post Traumatic Stress to steal it from me. It's not dangerous if I get it to where it needs to be, but in the hands of someone like him or if certain individuals learn it isn't in my possession anymore, they might come after him or by extension any of his students to get it back."
She said as she would try to be as honest as possible and she didn't entirely lie or downplay any of the risks. "So I've been, getting creative and trying to get the perfect opportunity to get it back. I wouldn't go to these extremes if I didn't have good reasons, you must trust me on that."
She said as she would try to be as sincere as plausible.

"So what, you're just going to ditch club or something?" Hikaru asked, a bit surprised that Kai would actually do something like this. "You know the director doesn't like it when we play hooky."
After a bit of hesitation, Kai decided to explain... mostly the whole story to both Hikaru and Kaoru. She explained that she was supposed to transport a very important item, but Mr. Sparkwood supposedly took advantage of her PTSD to take it from her, and now she needs it back before certain bad people went after him or potentially his students. All this time, she had been trying to come up with creative ways to get this important object back.
Hikaru and Kaoru looked at each other before they each looked at Kai. "Could you give us a moment, please?" Kaoru asked Kai before he and Hikaru stepped outside the classroom, closing the door behind them and speaking privately amongst themselves.
"So what do you think, Psych? It kind of sounds like she's involved with Digital World stuff."
"She could be, but without reading her mind or any definitive proof, she may just as equally have gotten involved with a more human affair like the yakuza. The fact that it was Weston that took her object is what interests me the most, however. He doesn't do these sorts of things without a good reason."
"What kinda thing are we dealing with that are making both Aizawa and Weston freak out so much?"
"I have no idea. I do think we should try and help Aizawa with this problem, at least until we know more about what she and Weston are involved in."
The door then slid back open, revealing both twins standing in the way once again. "We happen to know where Mr. Sparkwood lives," Hikaru said to Kai. "If you want, we can help you sneak in and find whatever it is you're looking for. You in?"

"The Director already knows of my absence." She said in response to Hikaru's mentioning of playing hooky from the track teams. Even while conspiring to retrieve otherworldly drugs confiscated from her person she can still remain on guard and focused on all issues in her life.
However she was concerned as Kaoru took his twin outside to discuss, nervous as she saw three outcomes that boiled down to them either helping, becoming neutral, or turning against her and becoming an obstacle. She nodded at the boy's request with a gentle smile, her body language was under her complete control, not letting her emotions slip behind the pleasant veil she displayed on the surface. Truly a politician's daughter...
While the two were out, she made no attempts to listen in as she barely moved towards the door, her fingers itching to reach for her Xros Loader in an instant if she had to, the threat of the shadowed lot, even the Omegamon Zwart D was putting her on edge but she was able to keep her nerves calmed. "No, I mustn't think like that, just need to get the vial back from him and down to Deeplane. Simple as that..." She thought to herself before the door opened up once again and the twins returned.
In the moment of truth Kai felt a twinge of relief before a jolt of anxiety and stress at the results. On the one hand she was getting significantly closer to her goal and that would put her peers out of harms way; on the other hand having the other two along definitely made things all the more complicated but she knew that she needed to get the drug to a secure facility and minimize the amount of potential hostages.
Kai came to the conclusion that on the balance of probabilities this was risky but her only chance for success.
"Alright then, I accept your terms. You lead the way." She replied with mixed feelings. Her hand trembling with stress as she wasn't used to this level of shenanigans quite yet.

While Speed and Psych were talking, Psych could sense a powerful aura coming from the room Kai was in. It was emotional panic and nervousness. Psych knew that Kai was probably worried about what he and his brother were going to do after they had discussed the situation. Due to how almost perfectly Kai usually hid her emotions, that made her a wild card for what she intended to do had Speed and Psych come to a different conclusion.
"Before we do this, brother," Psych whispered to Speed, "we need to keep a close eye on Aizawa throughout. She may be... unpredictable."
"You worry too much, it's gonna be fine," Speed reassured his brother before they opened the door, ready to tell Kai what the two of them had decided to do on the matter.
Psych could still feel Kai's emotions going haywire. He felt some sort of relief from her when they explained that they'd help her, then a feeling almost like anxiety completely took over. Even when she agreed to their terms, he could still feel her fear and stress. It was moments like this that he wished that his holosuit either let him keep his mind-reading or completely took away his mental abilities.
"Great!" Speed said, clapping his hands together. "Come on, let's get outta here before someone notices we're not in our clubs."
A decently average walk later, and the three teens had made their way to Weston Sparkwood's house. It looked just as Kai remembered it the last time she was here. It was certainly big when compared to the other houses in the neighborhood, almost like a mansion that was somehow built to be like a normal house. The overall style looked like a mix of modern Japan and modern... America, surprisingly enough?
"Yeesh, I forgot how fancy this guy's house is," Speed said as he looked up at the house in front of them. "Clearly he has some kinda side gig, 'cause no one's getting a house like this off a teacher's salary. Or he inherited it from some long dead uncle."
"Well, Aizawa... what do you propose we do next?" Psych asked Kai. He wasn't quite certain that she was involved with Digimon yet, but he wouldn't be surprised if she was.
