Ms. Akira was distraught over what had happened, she had just gotten a call that her daughter Naoto had disappeared from school randomly. Her friends saw her turn the corner and the next thing they knew she was gone. She had tried texting her daughter, calling but nothing seemed to go through, like her phone wasn't working at the moment. Frantically grabbing her clothes and supplies she started to get prepared to go looking for her daughter. "I'm not losing Nao too, I'll find you baby just wait."
However as she started to get ready suddenly her phone buzzed. It was a text from the same daughter she was going to go find, rushing over to her phone Ms. Akira picked it up, checking the text. It was simple with the line. "At the train station, need a little help momma!" To say she was confused would be an understatement, Nao didn't get any of her other messages so, did she not know she'd been gone for a while? Regardless she knew where her daughter was now so, without a moment's hesitation she rushed out the door into her car and nearly did 100'd on the way to the train station.
When she got there she started scanning around for her little girl, looking amongst the crowd of people and, after a small bit she noticed Nao a decent amount of distance away from the crowd, standing in front of someone who was wearing a cloak. Probably the literally most suspicious thing she could possibly see at this moment, which caused her panic to rise even more as she ran over. "Nao! Are you ok? You're not hurt right?" She shouted as she pulled her daughter away from the unknown cloaked figure. "Who's this, are they the reason you disappeared. What do you want with my daughter."
The cloaked figure backed away a bit, shocked at the sudden accusation. Nao on the other hand was currently in a headlock and barely able to speak at the moment, after a few seconds she managed to get herself dislodged from her position. "What? No! He's the one who helped me get back!" Nao shouted making sure to get her mom's attention, but also the attention of some other people around them who started looking at the three of them. "Look mom, I'll explain at home but, could you give me and my friend a ride to the house? It's important." Nao asked, clasping her hands together almost begging her.
Ms. Akira looked at her daughter with her eyebrow raised before looking back at the so called friend she had, while he had his hood up and cloak down she could see his face slightly under the hood, or at least whatever mask he was wearing instead of his face. She didn't trust them but looking back at Nao she seemed pretty desperate about this. Pausing for a moment to think eventually Nao's mom nodded before motioning them over to the car. Which let her notice the long legs and claws Nao's friend seemed to have. "I will never understand cosplay." She lamented as she followed the two of them into the car and back to the house.
Nao explained most of what happened on the ride there and the rest at home, telling her mom how she got lost in this large other world like outta one of her shows and ended up finding Gulus, something called a digimon and promising him that he could come back with her to this world. Ms. Akira sat there listening to the entirety of what she was saying, not saying a word until the end. "And that's what happened, I'd show you pictures of the world but my phone wasn't working over there." Nao said, the three of them sitting around a table, Nao was leaning forward, her mom leaning back with her arms crossed and Gulus with his hands on his knees doing his best to beat the floor at a staring contest.
Ms. Akira had her eyes closed for a while, letting her daughters words sink in before slowly standing up, motioning for Nao to follow her. "Naoto, please join me in the kitchen for a moment. Gulus make yourself at home." As she said this she walked off, Gulus thought that seemed to go pretty well.
Nao on the other hand looked a bit devastated for a moment, her mom only ever called her by her full name on two occasions, either to introduce her to someone, or because she was about to be in SO much trouble. Still she had to face the music if she wanted to help her new friend out so, pushing away from the table Nao did her best to look like she was confident about this, smiling all the while as she walked into the other room.
Gulus in the meanwhile just looked around the house for a few moments, glancing around from side to side before accidentally letting his claws poke against the table. They went clean through making a decently small hole in the table. Panicking Gulus quickly grabbed a coaster and placed it over the hole, patting it a few times before returning his hands to his knees.
Nao walked into the Kitchen, her mom was stood next to the fridge staring at an old picture of Nao. "Look mom, I know a creature from another world is a big ask to hide around here but, I couldn't just sit there and let him go back to people who'd treat him like that!" Nao argued before she could be denied. "I can't tell him to go back now, I gave him hope that he'd have a place he'd feel welcome, please don't make me-" Before Nao could finish though her mom interrupted her.
"He can stay."
"Tell him that he hasta go back to- Wait, what?" That definitely caught Nao off guard, she thought for sure she'd hafta argue her butt off to get her mom to let a monster from a whole nother world live under their roof, especially one that looked as scary as Gulus did.
"I was going to tell you he can't, I was going to make you send him back and we try to forget about all of this. But then I saw this." She motioned Nao to walk over to her, doing so she saw the picture her mom was staring at, it was on the fridge, a small picture of Nao around seven years old wearing a sentai ranger helmet with her dad wearing another one, despite Nao's father being in a hospital bed they both did the best poses for the camera that they could do. "I saw this and I thought, what would Naoto do if he was here right now and, honestly. He'd probably do the same thing you're doing now." She glanced back into the other room and saw Gulus wandering around, looking at all the pictures and furniture with such a look of wonder on his face, like a little kid seeing something for the first time. "If what you say is true then, regardless of where he comes from. He needs help, and our family helps those in need. Regardless of where they come from and who they are."
Nao quickly closed the distance between them and hugged her mom. "Thanks mom, I promise this'll be great! We'll help him out and show him he deserves better then how those losers treated him." Ms. Akira smiled, patting her daughter on the head before the two of them made their way back to tell Gulus the good news.
