Kotemon smirked and pet Kyo some more. <A superintendent is another powerful human... seems a lot of those work in ways that demand respect from children... and I assure you that teaching you proper battle techniques would be wonderful but sword was taken...>
Looking at the claw, Duffer shrugged and returned to being useless... until he snapped his fingers. "A claw! Oh man, maybe it's part of a monster that got lopped off. Don't worry, most of the time that happens the body part is harmless... unless it's a hand or a skull... Of course, it's still not a good idea to handle it so carelessly, dude." He reassured. "But in your backyard... Unless your sister is actually evil or there was a zombie outbreak recently I dunno how it got there."
Duffer blinked as the woman was holding a conversation with the two, quickly nabbing the phrasebook from Kotemon to figure all of this out. "Uh... uh... Oh, cool! She has a digimon too?" He paused, the flipped through the book again. <Wait... does everyone in this country own a Digimon? Because I'm suddenly not feeling so individual anymore... Can I see that thingy closer?>

As the teacher “Miho-nee” came and went, Yuu was relieved that she was mostly okay with digimon and had told them that teachers could hear them if the mons did too much noise, but that didn’t deter Kyo from insisting on what she saw as a game..
“Don’t worry Kotemon-sensei! I won’t be very hard on you, I promise! Just a little tackly-tackly and then a little fighty-fighty and finally some dodgy-dodgy! Isn’t it easy enough?”
Yuu sighed, but at least had found some useful information about this. It didn't make it any easier to digest, however. Now plagues could also be digital, just great.
“So, a digimon with a gigantic and metallic red claw was in my garden? As if I didn’t have enough problerms with things as they are. And don’t worry, Duffer. There’s absolutely zero percent chance of my sister to be evil and her partner’s a plant, so I’m not afraid of zombies. Maybe you could use Kotemon’s sword to grow some plants, that way you won’t be afraid of zombies too. And yeah, it’s just come here if you wanna see this thing, Kotemon”
Great. Now she had to hunt a rogue digimon that seemed to just like his garden

"I can speak English just fine, boy. It's alright. You can talk normally with me," Mihoshi addressed Duffer. "If you need me to repeat, I said that I don't have any partner, as the puzzle-like Digimon is my little brother's... well, at least he looks one. He's the kind that goes 'Wahahaha' like old man all times... As for me, I don't have one, but I'm interested in Digimon. It's not like I'll run tests on you and your companion, but how about if we strike a deal? If you can tell me more about Digimon and Digital World, I'll try to talk to that one teacher to lessen your detention. While you most probably would still be in one, I think I can return both your Digimon's shinai and your Digivice and probably stop the teacher from sending the detention letter. How about it?" Mihoshi offered.
"...Err, I know I might misheard, but isn't that kind of illegal, Miho-nee?" Ryouta asked.
Mihoshi, on the other hand, smirked.
"Everything is legal in war and love. My love is of course, my obsession to be biologist, zoologist especially. But being one isn't enough. I want to know more about what I don't. That's where you guys appeared, my dear students... See where this is going? I'd love to join your adventure, but I can't, as I don't have partner or Digivice. This is where you guys could help me."
"...Uh, don't tell me you want to win something on level of Nobel..."
"Oh, did that got through? But no, there's no reason for that. I mean, if I spread this worldwide, there are high case that Digimon will be used for war. And plus, without any evident, who would believe me? They'll mark me as some crazy woman anyway.""

Kotemon chuckled at the tiny mon's insistence, even if he couldn't understand her. "No, no, I'm sorry, but without my sword it's just I feel... well I was going to say naked, but you probably don't understand, being that you don't wear clothing... I just feel better with my sword, she is a wonderful, wonderful item. So useful in so many situations..." Kotemon sighed, reminiscing about how many times it'd come in useful... usually for keeping Duffer from doing something stupid or keeping the two of them safe... same thing, usually. Then Kotemon realized she didn't speak english, leading the mon to grab the phrasebook back from Duffer and began repeating it.
Duffer blinked at the teacher's statements, the only thing he knew that went "wahaha" was a unicorn. The mention of a deal however, caught his and Kotemon's attention. Duffer almost immediately began talking, knowing that even if this was some kinda trap by the teacher he'd have no way to stop her regardless. It was best to grasp that fledgling chance of he being truthful while he could. "Uh, well, over by the polluted river there's a bunch of stuff lying around and if you follow the trail under a certain bridge there's a portal to the digital world... or you could just go to the train station, but you need a digivice to be able to access the terminal."
Kotemon nodded, willing to do anything for the false blade back. "Anything else you wish to know?"

At Kotemon’s continued negation, Kyo frowned.
“You’re unfun sometimes, Kotemon-sensei. I wasn’t even going to play that rough with you. I know that you were somewhat frail anyway…”
But then she approached the person that Ryouta was calling Miho-nee.
“But you want to ask them Miho-nee?” she piped in a cheery “We can perfectly answer any question you have about us! Most of them are pretty basic actually! At least for me… I like food, like really much food! And I also like when I lay on my back and Yuu rubs my belly, when Kotemon-sensei or anyone pets me and that strange herb that Ayaka-sama grows on our garden! I was actually gonna ask her what it was before…” she got all teary all of sudden, crouching and covered her eyes with her fore paws “I don’t wanna talk about that anymore”
“She likes catnip” Yuu <added> while she brought Kyo to her lap “And she’s quite emotional too. As far as I know, digimon display mostly humanlike traits, altough most of them tend to either downplay or exaggerate them. And, of course, all the thing about evolution. They just change into one form or another when specific criteria is meet, and I pretty much say that each form is really more unreal than the previous ones".
She then went to where the woman was with Kyo cradled on one of his arms and showed her an holographic image of a Bearmon with his digivice.
"This is their fourth stage of growth, if we count them while they're inside an egg. He's roughly the same level than the shinai guy and mine's. Ryouta-san's roughly a level less. As you see, there isn't that much of a difference, but when it evolves..." he then switched it to a hologram of Porcupamon "Their next level of growth is quite a sight to behold, as you see".

"Well, even if I can go to the Digital World through that gate in the river, I really don't think I can defend myself properly no matter how many years of kendo experience I got. Not to mention that it'll be suicide if I just go right there and asking people around something like 'what species are you? What's your specialty?'. That aside, I guess I can play 'that professor where you'll show your progress'. Sadly, I'm still no-one here other than substitute teacher. I can't cover you more than something like 'I'll allow you to skip my lesson as long as you give me research material'. Other than that, what I can do is to supply you with foods or drinks maybe. Not much, sorry, but I'll keep the deal of returning your Shinai and Digivice."
Now, it's the other boy's turn to talk. He gives her more insight about Digimon... so they're almost humanlike. However, what could make this possible? If Digimon made of data, probably they download data of anything that sounds human? Then is it just programmed or is it something that can grow over time? Mihoshi mulled the theory a bit. Next, the boy said something about level... Yes, that's what Toyagumon said yesterday, too... Mihoshi pulled her notepad and rapidly jot down whatever she heard.
"Quite interesting... So Darwin's theory might prevail in that world, Alright, on to the next question, what kind of law prevails there?"
"Er, by law, do you mean something like law of the jungle? It's the most basic. The stronger predates the weak, but it's slightly more complex than that... I mean, you have Digimon around like human, but there's also some wild ones. Those that paired with humans are generally humanlike in nature, but... I'm not sure, I haven't even gone to Digital World yet!"
"That's it! You guys are under detention, and perhaps I can borrow your skills for a bit! Hey, kids, what about for detention I'll have you travel Digital World? Of course, it's not free, but if you do it and get more research material for me, I can even give you A+ for my biology lesson."
"That's bribery," Ryouta scowled
"Can it. It's an adventure for you. I'll give the exact date later, but it'll be good if we can go together."

"Uh, actually..." Duffer began. "The theory of evolution and the process of digivolution are completely different. Evolution happens over the course of many, many generations, beginning with mutations that, if it allows the member of the species to be more fit (as in more likely to reproduce, not necessarily likely to survive), then the mutation has a chance to be passed upon to the descendants, that will, with time, grow into a different breed, if not species, than it came from. Digivolution is instantaneous and can be undone just as fast, allowing for basic transference of powers and abilities. It's less evolution and more just getting bigger and changing clothes." Kotemon stared at Duffer, confused and astonished that the teen could ramble on and on about something like that without bringing up a horror film.
"The law...? Well, there's less laws and more "the golden rule." I personally don't know how they're able to keep stable like that but if it ain't broken don't fix it." Duffer shrugged, poking Kotemon as it stared at him in disbelief.
He kept the book and dug through what she was discussing with Ryu. "I... do we have any other choice anyways? She's holding my digivice and Kotemon's sword hostage. The digital world's a dangerous place but, I mean, if we stick in the city we should be safe..."

Well, that was a pretty interesting proposal. Their replacement teacher wanted to go with them to the Digital World to learn about Digimon? Guess that she was really devoted to learn everything she could about these beings. And Kyo seemed to be so ecstatic about the idea that she have all but forgotten her previous saddened state.
"A travel to the Digital World with Miho-nee? That sounds fantastic, Yuu-ottousan. Can we go please?… pretty pretty pretty please? We’ll have tons of fun, I’m totally sure of that!”
“Yeah, Kyo, we’ll go. Someone with a digimon has to be the rational one at least, and with Ryouta-san’s hotheadedness and Duffer-san’s… Dufferness, I’ll have to be that person” Having that A+ was the real reason why he wanted to go, but he was pretty sure that if only Duffer and Ryouta went, that had way more chances of provoking strange stuff to happen.
“So, Mihoshi-sensei. When are we planning to do that little travel? I’m a somewhat busy person, so it’ll be better if we take care of that right now instead of just waiting for the best, I think”
Kyo now just limited herself to jumping excitedly around the teacher, as if waiting for her answer.

"Hey!" Ryouta exclaimed, offended at how the other boy put it. "I can be quite sensible, too!"
Mihoshi stared at the foreigner boy like he got three heads. Wow, wow, that assessment. Her smile growing wider and now she's grinning really widely. Ryouta know what this mean... It's a face that she often show if she want to give someone straight A for their answer.
"Boy, five extra point for you in my test... if you somehow ended up on my class, but I can easily talk it with your biology teacher if you want. That aside, Tsumura-kun, it's 'Honma-sensei' here, careful. I'm a busy person too, and it's not like I can just dive like that to Digital World. I still have lots of stuffs to do, particularly grading and make more test questions... Well, please wait here. I'll get that boy's Digivice and Shinai first. But let's take this as you're free from today's detention, but your detention haven't ended yet."
And with that, the teacher left the room, happy that she got something worthwhile to spend her hobbies on. It's strange looking at a 20ies years old woman skipping so happily like that.
"...Well, we got ourselves some devil's deal... If it goes like this, high chance that she'll want to stay here to teach all of us... She'll have her way..."
Suddenly, Mihoshi returned and tossed the Shinai and the Digivice at Kotemon and Duffer respectively. "Still bored, boys? I told both your teachers that you'll be helping me in my research as your detention, and they seem to approve... now, while we can't go to Digital World just yet, I want to see how good are Digimon in fight..." Mihoshi declared with a sly smile.

"Woohoo!" Duffer said, hands in the air. He held out is hand for a high-five and Kotemon reluctantly obliged. Duffer ignored what Yuu had said, he was on top of the world now. Duffer barely caught the digivice and Kotemon frowned as the training sword was returned so carelessly.
"CAREFUL! You might have broken it." The mon said, then came the mention of fighting. "Do you mean in this room? Because that is not a terribly bright idea." It frowned, ...although nobody could actually see that through the mask. "Fights between Digimon tend to be incredibly dangerous and destructive. It's best we only preform them in abandoned locations or if absolutely necessary." The digimon went on and on about how lethal these attacks would be to humans who could be caught in the crossfire, listing the effects and comparing them to the effects of various horror movies Duffer had forced him to see.

As Yuu translated everything for Kyo’s glee, she made an ear-to-ear grin at both their current opponents “C’mon Kotemon-sensei! Stop being a party pooper and come at me, bro!” Yuu obviously was translating this… it was just too good when Kyo became hellbent on doing something “It seems almost as if you’re afraid of me! Don’t tell me that the mighty Kotemon-sensei’s afraid of little Kyo! I’m just a little dog-girl!”
Yuu let out a silent guffaw at her partner’s taunts. Maybe she saw too much fighting shows and now she was a little overeager… and maybe had her fair share of accumulated energy on her body because of Yuu’s lifestyle. This would be indeed a fun fight to watch, were Kotemon to accept Kyo’s challenge. Or and even funnier boasting spree, shall we decline. Oh, he almost forgot.
“Sorry for the disrespect, Honma-sensei. Today’s not my best day actually. I shouldn’t even be in detention in first place and maybe I’m just a little grumpy. I aplogize for offending you. But changing topics… what do you say, Ryouta-san. Is Babydmon's rookie form up to a friendly challenge? Kyo really has a lot of disadventages here, but It'd be a fun thing to do regardless".

"Of course not in here. I'd be sued and I'll lose my job. What if you come with me? There's an unused building in school premise. As unused as it is, it's really more like a really empty, abandoned storagehouse. As long as you control the strength, I don't think it be burned down that easily. Now, what do you say? Of course, you have to be careful. There might be... onlookers."
To Yuu's apology, Mihoshi simply nodded understandingly.
"A straight A-student, eh, Tsumura-kun? Understandable..."
Meanwhile, Yuu asked Ryouta about Babydmon... the more muscular teen just smiled, shrugging. He's not sure, but... "My partner will put up a good fight, that's all. I have faith that he'll do great."
Hearing that, Babydmon blushed. He's unsure of his strength, but... if that all comes to it...
"Y-yes! I'll do my best!"

Kotemon looked angry at Kyo, picking up the tiny puppy and shaking her violently to disorient her. "There. I won." Setting her back down, Kotemon returned to Duffer's side, grabbing the English to Japanese book.
"Erm, well... I guess. I told you, we don't really have a choice, considering you're in charge and all... and you could blow the whistle at any moment..." He mumbled, pocketing his Digivice. "Duffer," Kotemon began. "This is very unlike you. Normally you'd be ignoring EVERYTHING she'd be saying and be reading your comic books or telling me why this would be a terrible idea..." The digimon climbed onto a chair to try and feel the tamer's forehead. "Are you sick? Are you on something? ...Stand up." "But I-" "I SAID STAND UP!" Kotemon repeated, forcing Duffer to his feet and searching him. After finding a pack of gum and the aforementioned digivice, Kotemon frowned and let the tamer return to his seat. "...Duffer, I think you've learned to respect authority..." The mon said, astonished.

Kotemon’s surprisingly fast grab not doubt surprised Kyo, but if it thought that he’d win that easily, he was sorely mistaken. While shaking her, Kyo did the most logical thing a she could do against a digimon that couldn’t defent itself as it was already using both his hands to grip her; Puppy Howling. The high-pitched bark would most likely hit straight into Kotemon’s face, paralyzing it and most likely giving her an opening to do her next attack. It was a perfect plan, if it weren’t because she was making a ruckus when the teacher’s longue was at earshot, and Yuu quite handily noticed that and immediately removed Kyo from the mon’s arms, trying to hide her, as if predicting what was about to happen.
“I’m deeply sorry for my partner’s behavior, Honma-sensei. I didn’t expect for Kotemon to actually fall for Kyo’s taunts, as I thought he was a rather mature digimon. Seems I was mistaken though. I’ll take the responsibility for any action my partner had caused”. Great, now this was going from worse to worser. He could now only hope that the teachers had dismissed the source’s a stray dog’s from outside the school. Maybe he was thinking wishfully, but now that was his only option.

Mihoshi facepalmed. Now, how to explain to the other that there's nobody playing around with some siren? She sighed and stared at the three boys. They're in trouble, and if they do this to her, while she probably will get away, they won't. They'll put on much greater detention for disturbing the school's silence. Right on cue, a teacher appeared. She looks really mean, the big boss type. However, instead of letting her in, Mihoshi quickly bowed and give lots of excuses. She promised it won't happened again, but the teacher doesn't buy it.
"So, Honma-sensei... I believe the source came from here?"
"Y-yes, it's true, Hamada-sensei... I might be too lenient on them..."
"Obviously you are! Mihoshi-sensei, I know you're new, but as a teacher, this behavior cannot be tolerated..."
Poor Mihoshi have to bow down many many times in apology, promising that she'll give them more suitable punishment for 'not respecting her'. Satisfied with Mihoshi's reply, Hamada-sensei left the classroom. Ryouta gulped, because he heard something along the line of 'cleaning the pool'. He don't want to do it, but...
"...You heard her, boys. I can't do anything. That or fired or spread words about Digimon to the world. Now what do you want to do? Obviously, like this, the priority is cleaning the pool. Now, if you dare to make another ruckus, or something that will make all of us kicked out from here... I'll have you by your neck, I swear by all Kami in this land... I have to make end meets, dammit!"
