A Boy and His Fox... on Cat Street (Finished)

Hiro had been thrown out of the apartment again. He really didn't want to know what his brother was doing in this time, so he needed something suitably distracting to fill the time. He had chosen Cat Street mainly because even while browsing for something to do, he could distract himself by examining the graffiti for new additions. He was getting a few odd looks, but he was doing his best to ignore them.
"Ne, ne Hiro. What's with all the drawings on the wall?" And there was the reason for all the odd looks. Hiro was testing something new here. Well, two things. He was testing whether or not he could get away with Tetsu riding his shoulder in public, and to see if he got any information just by having the Dorimon in the public.
That and his brother had told him to take him outside and Hiro was too lazy to think of a safe place to take Tetsu outside. So he decided to just take him with him into public.
So far, he had gotten his fair share of odd looks, but nothing substantial. He wasn't sure if that counted as a success or a failure.
"It's graffiti. Kind of like... street art. Cat Street is pretty famous for it." Hiro explained as he looked around at the shops around him. He kind of wanted to go do karaoke, but then realized he would be going by himself that was just kind of sad. He really needed to make some friends.
"I guess I could hit up a net cafe or an arcade." Hiro sighed as he threw out the karaoke idea out of question.
"Cafe?" Hiro's sigh turned into a groan as he remembered that Tetsu was on his shoulder. The little Digimon was hopping up and down on his shoulder, also making it difficult to balance him on there. "Food. Food. Food."
"Gah, Tetsu, take it easy." Hiro placed a hand onto the excited Digimon to stop him from jumping. "You're gonna draw too much attention. Remember what I said. You can't move too much."
They made a rather conspicous duo. Mainly because of the blue fox that was jumping on the teen's shoulder.

After grounded for two days for not coming home on time, Koharu finally allowed to get out once more. Coincidentally, the bag she used for the reunion has not been touched ever since. Probably it's because she's too eager to go out, probably it's because she's too focused on having fun once more outside her house, but... basically, she forgot to check the new contents of her bag.
Oblivious to the content, she goes to cat street to vent off some steam by looking at the graffiti. Yep, she decides it's graffiti this time. How fickle.
She was about to look around for more when her eyes landed on a certain figure of a teen with a... what was that, she have no idea. It looks like small animal, but there's definitely no animal like that. For starter, she know there's no animal that can talk. Something that can talk, or at least, remotely can talk basically often just mimics human way of talking, but this one...
It talks, it's definitely sapient. What is it? What animal it is!? Koharu's sense of curiosity tingled by the appearance of the small animal. The slightly tan skinned girl approached the older looking teen... older right? She have no idea, really...
"Hello there! Sorry for approaching you so sudden, but... is that a new species of animal?"
The D-3 inside her backpack let out muffled trill, pointing to the boy in front of her. Too bad though, it's muffled and she cannot hear it that well.

"Huh?" Hiro stated rather elegantly. He was not prepared for anyone to actually come up to him. People in Japan tended to mind their own business and shun anything that was 'different' and a boy with a talking blue fox on his shoulder was pretty out there.
So when a short brunette appeared out of nowhere and asked about Tetsu on his shoulder, Hiro blanked for a second. That was his downfall as Tetsu had not such problem. The little guy took everything in stride with his trusting optimism.
"I'm Tetsu. I'm not an animal. I'm a Digimon." Tetsu replied to the girl's question.
Hiro fought the urge to sigh or groan at his partner's introduction. He succeed, half because he was kind of used to Tetsu's personality by now and half because this was part of the plan. He needed to see how people reacted to Tetsu.
"Right... don't worry about it." Hiro said to alleviate the girl of any worry about bothering them. He quickly schooled his face into an exasperated smile and patted Tetsu on the head. "Like he said, he's a Digimon. It's short for Digital Monster."
Now, let's see where this went. Would she freak out or would she just accept it and carry on?

"Ahaha! It really talked!" Koharu excitedly commented. "So, Tetsu, huh? May I call you Tecchan? That sounds a bit more cuter, don't you think? A Digimon, huh... that's neat. What are those? From the words 'Digital Monster', is it something like 'monster coming out from computer', am I right?"
But then, Koharu noticed she haven't really introduced herself. She facepalmed briefly before bowing down to the two. "I'm sorry, I forgot my manners... My name's Nakano Koharu. I was just kind of strolling about here, trying to learn more about graffiti... at least until when my eyes landed on you two. It's really amusing to see something talks like human! May I tag along? I'm really interested.... but ah, if you mind it... I guess I'll be on my way..."
The girl know perhaps she's pressing it too much, but that's just her old habit. She can't help but to be interested when she found new stuffs...
and then, just like that, if she doesn't find anything interesting from that anymore, she'll drop it.

Well, of all the responses he did not expect excitement and curiosity. He probably should have thought of that, but he was expecting freak outs and condemnation.
"Yay! New Friend!" Tetsu cheered. "And new nickname! Tecchan. Ne, Hiro do you think it fits me?"
Hiro picked Tetsu off his shoulder by the scruff of his neck and raised an eyebrow at him. The Digimon seemed to get the hint that Hiro would never call him something to cutesy but responded by swinging himself onto his partner's head.
"You can come along. We can take her with us, right?" Tetsu immediately responded before realizing he should ask his partner.
Brown eyes tilted over to the hopeful smile on Tetsu's face to the girl hesitating about joining them and Hiro knew that he had already been outvoted. There was no way he could say no to those faces. Hiro rolled his eyes but nodded causing the Dorimon to cheer from his place on his head.
Hiro looked over at the girl and smiled at her, even if it was a bit weak, "We're heading to a cafe, if you want to know about Tetsu we can talk it over some drinks." His eyes drifted upwards as he quickly calculated how much of his allowance was left and nodded when he got the answer. "It'll be on me."

"Oh, I can join? Thank you so much! Oh, and... um, you don't have to treat a person you just meet, you know... I got my wallet right here..."
Koharu rummaged her bag for the small rectangular leather money holder, but somehow, her hand brushed against something unexpected. Her expression turns more and more confused by seconds. She crouched down on the floor to check the content... She did pulled her floral designed wallet, but... inside, there's a big egg, in size of ostrich's. She raised an eyebrow inquisitively.
"...Funny, I don't remember raiding nearest zoo for any kind of ostrich egg..." she tried to joke it, but tone of uncertainty of what has happened still obvious on her voice. She finally noticed two strange object that somehow has entered her bag without her noticing it. A D-3 and D-Terminal.
"...What are these? Hey, it's trilling..."
The marine gripped D-3 did indeed trills, pointing Koharu to Hiro.
"...Must be my sister's prank..." she tried to justifies it, although, the tone of her voice kind of gave it that she doesn't believe that anyone would put these on her bag, either.

The moment that Hiro saw the D-3 and egg he groaned. He may need to add an additional theory to his experiment. Test if proximity with Tetsu caused spontaneous Digivice arrival. This was like Carrie all over again, except the girl wasn't freaking the hell out and the Digivice was the same model as his so he knew enough about it to tell her things.
Actually this was nothing like Carrie. He still mentally noted the whole, Tetsu may be creating Digivices, theory for later testing.
"That's... ugh." Hiro pressed a hand to his face and wondered why he got out of bed this morning. Oh right, his brother threw him out so he could have some 'alone time' with his girlfriend... okay bad thoughts, he really needed a distraction.
"A Digivice!" Thank you Tetsu. "Oh, oh. You're a Tamer too!"
Hiro sighed and pulled out his own D-3 to show Koharu. "Well, now we really need to talk. Good news, you're about to get a (hopefully) adorable pet/partner. Bad news..." Hiro hesitated as he tried to think of bad news to finish that statement. He planned on saying that her life would never be the same, but that wasn't necessarily bad news as much as it was just news. Not to mention his life had gotten better since Tetsu arrived so being different was a good thing. Hmm, well, he'd settle with, "Bad news is that your probably going to be spending a lot more money on food soon."
Hiro started walking towards a nearby Cafe that he knew. He really needed a drink.

"Tamer?" Koharu titled her her head. Somehow, there's something inside her that doesn't like that sort of term. Why? She really have no idea, but it irks her... "Um, don't tell me..." her suspicion soon cleared. She was right, so those with this kind of device is called Tamer? But Tamer means... that the Digimon are wild, right? Does their sapience means nothing to those that coined the term?
"...Um, sorry, is there is a better term? Somehow it felt awkward to call myself a tamer..."
However, that's a minor detail. If somehow this items really are hers, that means she... she won't be alone in that suffocating house anymore. Koharu smiles wider, she really can't wait to get a partner! It'll be great to spend time with it, and probably, they can have some sort of adventure! She doesn't care about money. Her parents gave her enough, enough to make her spend a lot of time outside, although she doesn't really spend all of that and generally have no idea what to do with the money... Koharu followed Hiro excitedly from behind.

Hiro entered the cafe and ordered himself a smoothie and a cookie for Tetsu to eat before finding a booth away from the windows to sit in. The barrister gives him an amused look, he wasn't sure if it was because he was finally entering the cafe with someone else (and a girl to boot) or if it was because of Tetsu riding on his head. He wasn't really sure which he preferred. Either way, the next time he showed up here by himself the guy was sure to tease him relentlessly.
"Hmm, I dunno if there is another name for us." Hiro murmured as he placed Tetsu on the table and rolled his neck. The little guy was kind of heavy. "Tetsu just called me his Tamer. Not that he was that wild after he come out of the egg. Just... energetic." Hiro finished after a short pause.
"Mmm, Tamer's don't go catching Digimon or anything like that. Or at least, I don't think so." Tetsu said as he tilted his head in confusion. "I mean, there are wild Digimon that arrive in the real world, but we haven't met any yet."
"I think it's an old name that just kind of carried forward." Hiro offered his own opinion on the name as Tetsu focused on eating the large cookie that he had bought him. He hadn't really thought about the name. He paused to take a sip of his drink before adding, "If it bothers you so much, you could probably make one up yourself."
Hiro then shook his head. "But we're getting off topic." He pointed at the egg with the hand that held his drink. "That there is a digiegg. Your partner is probably inside waiting to hatch." Hiro grinned wickedly as he recalled just how energetic and hungry Dodomon had been right after hatching. "Fair warning, they're a handful when they're in the Fresh level."

The cafe looks really cozy, but somehow, the barrister seem to give Hiro an amused look... New to Digimon? She really have no idea how much normal people known about these little 'mons, but she'll try to look all over the internet later on for this kind of occurrence... probably, just probably, there'll be some more clue of how these monsters really works. Koharu pulled a chair and ordered a glass of strawberry milkshake. Then, Hiro start to speak about the Tamer term, followed by Tetsu.
Ah, that was really assuring. So they aren't those that capture Digimons or something like that... In fact, if her case is the same with Hiro's, supposedly, they're chosen by the egg instead. One less mental worry for her. She hugged her egg affectionately.
"It's fine, I'm sure that it'll work out. I'm quite longing for a friend that will be always on my side... pet works, but they're still... pets, right? So a sentient being like Digimon would probably do a lot! Ah, Mister, can I order some cookies?"
While waiting for the cookie, Koharu tilted her head quizzically... she forgot the most fundamental thing to do. What to do with it? How to make it hatch? Honestly, she have no idea, and then... the girl focused her attention to Tetsu.
"...Ne, Tecchan, would you please warm this lil' guy up? You know, like chicken?" she pointed at her egg. If it's a Digimon's egg, then probably a Digimon could... you know, do the same thing like a chicken? She was a bit too excited and forgotten that Hiro perhaps have better solution than that.

"A chicken?" Tetsu looked up at Koharu in confusion, his head tilted in adorable puzzlement.
"Come on Tetsu," Hiro snickered as he imagined Tetsu trying to balance on top of the egg to keep it warm. "You know what a chicken is."
"Of course I know." Tetsu replied loudly at his Tamer's teasing. He then looked back at Koharu in confusion. "But I don't understand how turning an egg to stone is going to make it warm."
Hiro paused in his snickering and just stared at Tetsu for a moment before pressing his hand to his face. "Tetsu, explain."
The little fox just looked even more puzzled. "Well, a chicken is like a Cockatrimon, right?" Hiro gave his Digivice a quick search of the name before nodding at his partner. "Well, Cockatrimon are famous for turning things to stone with their Petra Fire."
Hiro stared at his partner before letting his head fall onto the table with a dull thump. He probably should have known. Tetsu came out of an egg and he was a fox, nor did the egg really require much heat or stimulus. So digimon probably didn't have the whole, bird lying on an egg to warm it thing.
He raised a hand and waved at Koharu. "Just... hold the egg close. It'll hatch as long as you keep it close."
Tetsu just looked between the two humans in adorable confusion as no one explained the egg thing to him. Eventually he just went back to his cookie, since it at least made sense. It was also made of delicious bread and chocolate.

Well, it had happened again, seemingly without the up and coming soccer star even knowing about it. Lost again, in a world of crazy monsters and people who didn't know how to speak his language. Ramon looked around, a guise of annoyance covering his face. It seemed no matter how many times he walked around the city, or the university, he couldn't get a grasp of where to go in this city. Impatience was starting to set in, and he here was just looking for a place to grab something.
Ramon began walking again, his arms resting behind his head; how had he even managed to get lost anyways? Ramon rolled his eyes and immediately placed blame on his map that didn't have any translations for Spanish. Though Ramon was at least a little bit more comfortable knowing that there were some people who at least spoke English; like his friend Gabe, he wished there was at least a little community. Some place like a Little Mexico in Japan where he could talk to other people who knew his language. Unfortunately, he doubted such a place existed here in Shibuya, and even if it did, he wouldn't know where to look off the top of his head. While he kept his feet moving forward, Ramon's head continually scanned the area around him, his brain bored and seeking some kind of stimuli.
That's when he noticed something a little out of the ordinary in the window of what he assumed was a typical net cafe. Ramon's feet stopped moving as he registered the scene in front of him, his left eyebrow raising slowly as he turned. So... two people sitting at a table with a little purple fuzzball and an egg that looked way too colorful to be normal. Ramon already knew something was up when he spied the Digimon sitting down with them, well, at least he knew one of them must have been it's tamer. However, with this piece of information, Ramon had to make a choice. Should he sit down with some people he didn't even know just to learn a little more about Digimon, even though he didn't have one?
Better yet, could these two people even tell him something he didn't already know? If that Digimon was any indication, it probably wasn't even what Gabe had called a "Rookie" level; it was simply too small. Though, Ramon wouldn't have minded the company at any rate, since he had a severe lack of amigos when he'd arrived in Japan. Ramon opened the door to the cafe, making a casual stride over toward the table. Keeping his tone calm, but interested, Ramon decided to test the waters, albeit with his very broken Japanese.
"Greetings! Is very good meet here! Ramon, you Digimon, have? How long?" Ramon asked, his face continually making unsure faces as he tried to communicate in the language he didn't understand too well.

Tetsu seem puzzled by something. Did she said something wrong? Koharu's expression shows her concern that it's probably not the way to hatch a Digimon. Tetsu seem clueless about chicken... but somehow, it proved to be false. Koharu's expression brightened for a short while before it dropped to confusion again as the little Digimon seem say something about turning eggs into stone.
"E-eh? Um, Tecchan, that's not my intention at all--"
But then, he said something about Kokaterimon, a chicken like Digimon that somehow can turn everything into stone with Petra Fire attack. Koharu burst out laughing at the little Digimon's naivety. Really, how come it turn into that? Does Digimon actually never actually keep their eggs warm? But then again, Tetsu is mammal looking, so she should've known that that probably aren't the right logic here. But who cares? He's funny!
"Ahaha! Tecchan, that's so funny! Honestly, you little furball, I just want to cuddle you all day already now!"
Hiro interjected and said something about keeping the egg close. Hmm, so if there is no one to be the mother, maybe she have to act like one? Koharu hugged the egg close to her.
"Mmm, but can it really hatch this way? How's your case, Hiro?" she asked.
However, somehow their talk got interrupted by a foreigner looking guy. Ummm, where did he came from? Koharu never really have the ability to discern people's race and nationality.
"Errr... um, 'xcuse me, but can you speak English?" Koharu asked in rather accent heavy English. She might be proficient at it, but she's in no way on native level or fluent at it.

"I dunno. My egg just kind of hatched right away." Hiro said as he continued to press his forehead against the table. He heard someone walking up to their table, but he ignored it as probably the Batista delivering Koharu's cookies. The following grammatically confusing statement proved him wrong.
Hiro tilted his head to the side so that he could look at the newcomer. He looked fairly Hispanic, which was fairly rare in Japan. The broken Japanese pretty much solidified the guy's status as a foreigner. Hiro wondered if this guy came from America or from a different country.
Hiro rose back into a sitting position and rubbed the back of his head. "Ah, yes he's a digimon. I've had him for a little bit." Hiro said slowly and clearly. He knew how frustrating it was to try to translate someone speaking quickly. It was kind of novel to be on this side of the equation. "It's nice to meet you. I'm Hiro." He heard Koharu try to ask this guy if he knew English and Hiro kind of hoped that he did. It would make any discussion a lot easier.
Tetsu was luckily still engrossed in his cookie and had not yet noticed the newcomer. Maybe if Hiro was quick, he could shove the Digimon into his bag before he saw the guy. The last thing he needed was another spontaneous digiegg appearance.

Well, that was all well and good at least. Ramon's face was instantly filled with relief upon learning that these two new acquaintances of his could speak English. Though it wasn't his best language he could speak, by far, it was better than listening to him as if he were an Asian Tarzan. Ramon cleared his throat before making an inquiry, mostly about the Digimon on the table. More so, he wanted to figure out just HOW he was supposed to find a Digimon, or better yet, how he could find one that wasn't hostile.
"Ay ay ay, 'chu guys have no idea how relieved that makes me! I'm not so bueno at speaking Japanese, eh? But, I actually wanted to ask 'chu a question, senor." Ramon said, casually pointing his finger at the male, whom he assumed was the purple Digimon's "tamer". Thinking about it after he'd already spoken, Ramon realized he'd never actually talked to a tamer yet. From his earlier conversation with Gabe, he'd only heard of Darian, though he still wanted to encounter him sometime in the future. That thought didn't last too long, as he focused back on the purple Digimon and the other boy, whom he assumed was it's tamer. It seemed safe to make that assumption, since the other girl was holding on very tightly to the egg from earlier. That was another question entirely, but Ramon decided it could wait for now.
"My name is Ramon, and as you've probably already guessed, I'm not from around here, Mexico's where I call home! But, I've been lookin' for a partner o' my own for a few days no, and no luck. What happened with 'chu to obtain your amigo, there?"
While not desperate at this point, Ramon would prefer to find a partner Digimon sooner rather than later. After all, getting assaulted by random black creatures with multiple eyes wasn't an experience he wanted to have again any time soon.
