“I learned to play the instruments of war," he said, "and paint in blood.”
Kan stared at the entrance to his shop and rubbed his sides softly before sighing; a single notice held his attention. It was a yellow slip of paper no bigger than his hand but the meaning behind it was devastating to the man; for so many years he had held this shop and for all of those years he had never struggled. Never worried about the day that would more than likely be around the corner; it was a common sight to see when someone bought the land right out under you. The man's eyes were a weary red color instead of their normal bright hint that they usually carried. His things were all packed into a moving truck and he had almost an hour before he had to turn over the key to the new owner. His digimon bodyguard stood quietly by the door her holosuit masking her normally large form; the shop owner had gotten no warnings either which was beyond strange; it was as though they avoided doing that and just went to the last step itself. He crumpled the paper and sighed again before going over to sit on the hood of the truck.
What are you going to do?
First going to find out who bought the land, second probrably figure a way of getting it back.
And if we can't?
Then we take the next step; I already have a place in waiting.
That's... all?
Hannibal sometimes you can't fight stuff like this, I can't just go and kill the guy or gal. Stuff in the human world is riddled with politics and social no-no's. If I did that there'd be people out for blood if they found out it was me; hell there'd be an investigation of it for sure. The police force here is top notch and usually there isn't much crime from what I've been told.
Oh...
An awkward silence followed; briefly there was a gust of wind that brought both the chill of the season and some new scents. He felt his blood curdle a little bit and anger seeped into his bones; a pompous scent was approaching. One of those that had so much money and just threw it around like nothing. He felt his spirit raise it's hackles within and he could hear bone-saw's intake of breath before her hand found his shoulder and squeezed. His sense had been badly messed with since the berserk spirit had taken hold of him; it was powerful and even worse it was closer to the waxing gibbous. He had started paying more attention to the moon phases since the initial issue with the spirit and found it easier to deal with when closer to the new moon. Though the pain when it tried to take over was still very immense. He heard a foreign voice speak; it's accent was terrible and the kid sounded so snooty to the shopkeeper. He turned his head slightly to find that the guy was no older than high-school that seemed to have two body guards with him. Some rich kid wanting a hang out more than likely; he had probably seen the store and figured it was a good buy.
You're the guy with the key? Hand it over and get out of here.
Kan felt a growl start up from the base of his spirit and almost work it's way into his system but he felt bone saw take the key from the somewhat irritated shopkeeper. She practically threw it into the kid's hands who furrowed his brow; the shopkeeper narrowed his eyes and hopped into the truck without another word. The kid still had an incredulous look on his face which was soon replaced with mock anger. He opened the truck door and was about to say something when bone-saw kicked the little sucker's face so hard he fell over with a nasty nosebleed with a size sixteen boot print. The woman's false face held a very irritated look and she slammed the door shut; both body guards were too stunned by both the stupidity of their charge and the rash action of the massive woman. Kan didn't give them time to think and started to drive; it wouldn't take long for them to get to the other shop he had already put the initial deposit on. Hell it was literally a fifteen minute drive away; which was thankfully still in the neighborhood.
You shouldn't of done that.
Why? The lil shit wanted to start something
Damnit Hannibal you just can't go about kicking people! I know you're professional all considering but as of late you're acting strange!
ME? acting strange?! You're the one who loses himself every-time he changes! How many times have i had to put you into a sleeper hold? Or throw you through a wall?
The shopkeeper flushed a deep red at the mention and made a left turn at a yellow light; he cut off four or so people and thankfully no cop had been around. The man bit his lower lip and glanced at his body guard who sat with her arms crossed; her hair was a mess but hell.. It was alot better than being dead or something like they could of been before back in the digital world. The last time they had gone there had been a violent fight that the both of them had barely made it out of. She had done something for kan that he wouldn't forget; nor would she hopefully. The man sighed softly and as they pulled up to the shop kan noted that the person waiting in front of the "store" was a much younger version of the one that he had talked this morning. The shopkeeper put the vehicle into park and hopped out before bone-saw did the same; she wasn't very happy with kan at the moment and he could understand why. The man in front of the store wordlessly tossed kan the key before storming off; it wasn't hard to remember kan's face and if he had been told to look out for the immensely tall man it wouldn't be hard to guess who to give the key to.
This is it.
Hey it has a garage!
We can put the van in there, let's get the bed out and upstairs.
A few moments later the pair was struggling with putting a bed up the stairs; they both were tired from a long night and kan still had to get shop set up. Though they figured what was the harm of putting the sign up as well as the ringer for the upstairs. When both were set up Kan locked the garage door as well as the front before slowly trudging up the stairs. Instead of finding Hannibal in her human holosuit he found her laying on the bed in her weregarurumon form; it gave her about another foot or so and kept her rather skinny as far as digimon went. The shopkeeper sighed a bit and sat on the edge of the bed before shaking his head.
What should we do?
What do you think?
Sleep seems like the best answer but....
You want to set up shop don't you?
yeah...
Don't Kan, just lay here and get some shut eye. It won't hurt business if you're closed for the day and open at the night.
I spose
The shopkeeper sighed and leaned back his head finding a rather nice pillow on the weregarurumon's fur covered body; thankfully he was used to sleeping in awkward positions already and didn't have to worry about much. The man closed his eyes and sighed softly before letting his weight drop down a bit...
Downstairs the ringer and store sign eagerly advertised the fact that Kan's krazy Tek was still open for business....
