Mirror Mirror on the Wall, Argh! Ugly. [Xros. Tad/Shichi/?]

Vworp.
Yeah. That was an interesting sound. Tadashi isn't sure what sound he expected a portal between dimensions to make. A splash, maybe? He had jumped into a river after all. And now, for the second time in a week, he'd arrived in a Digital World. On his head. Ow.
He picks himself up and looks around as he dusts himself off. Ugh, his mom's gonna kill him if he tears his school uniform again...
Ah! Right, they're on some kind of grassy plains. A few trees scattered around, what looks like a city in the distance (that must be Terminus City!), and some cliffs and mounts in the other direction. The arrow on his Digivice is pointing in the direction of those cliffs, so he starts to walk, making sure his bag is securely on his shoulder this time. Oh!
“F-Flamemon, Reload,”
He holds out the Digivice infront of him. The three foot tall red-haired imp-like creature materializes in a swirl of red energy, and stretches. “You have no idea how cramped it is in there,”
“...You c-c-could've just asked me t-to let you out,”
“Could. Didn't. Wanted to complain. Which way?”
“Uhh...D-Digivice is pointing at those c-ccliffs,”
“What're we waitin' for, then?”

Vworp. "Ah!" Thud, tumble and grunt. Shichiro's second entry into the Digital World was graceless at best. Clad in a long white and black DATS coat, the sixteen-year-old might have looked pretty impressive if he wasn't sprawled in the dirt. He picked himself up with a groan, brushing dust off the nearly-pristine digizoid-laced coat. And look, that stuff kept it from getting dirty too. Handy! Shichi reached into his coat, producing a matching white and black iC Digivice with a black king from a chess set hanging from it, holding it out with the screen facing away from him. The device flashed and a beam of light burst out of it, coalescing into the form of a squat, white creature that appeared like a cross between a chess pawn and a knight. PawnChessmon, of course.
"That's a bit easier than you degenerating and getting stuffed in a backpack," he commented. "Of course, m'lord, but tisn't you must cram thyself into that space. Could use... decoration." Shichiro chuckled, looking around to get his bearings. That must be Terminus City, because that was the Trailmon terminal, but where...?
"Sire. If you'll turn around, the tracks in these grasses seem to lead from our location towards those mountains. Perhaps the digimon you are tracking and that human boy you saw went that way."
"Good find Gawain," Shichiro thanked his partner, setting off in the indicated direction. "I'm not sure what that digimon wants with him but we can't just let him be dragged off like this. Let's go."

Flamemon and Tadashi hadn't made it too far, in the time since their arrival. About halfway to the cliffs which the human's Xros Loader seemed to be leading them towards. Neither of them had any idea why exactly it was taking them to this place. They'd discussed it briefly as they walked and only come up with a few possibilities.
Maybe there was another Digivice it'd locked onto. Or maybe it was a Digimon who needed them for something, or wanted to join them, and had signalled them. Or, Flamemon hoped, it was something that would make them stronger. He didn't know much about Generals, beyond the fact they could somehow give Digimon extra power, but...well.
“You ever get the feelin' you're being followed?”
Tadashi blinks, “Well. I always a-assume people are l-l-looking at me, I g-guess. I'm the d-dancing, s-singing, st-stammering Caucasian kid with the J-J-Japanese name,”
“...You are weird,”
"...Y-yeah, I'm the weird one h-h-here,"

You are being followed, Flamemon. Shichiro, being a runner, was able to keep a decent jogging pace up, which somehow Gawain managed to keep up with despite his lack of legs. Don't ask. Shichi didn't. It was a little harder to run in the long, heavy coat than he was used to so he worked up a mild sweat even with the easy pace. Panting a little, he kept conversation to a minimum to conserve his breath. The path ran a little meanderingly through the tall grasses, easy enough to follow. There wasn't any sign of struggle, no blood or anything. He only hoped that kid would still be there when they caught up...
"What do you think it wants with him, Gawain?"

Well, eventually the pair would spot...the other pair. Probably by Flamemon's hair alone. They seem to be standing at a cliff face with a strange symbol engraved into the rock itself, at around head height for the human. The symbol itself is no bigger than fifty centimeters in diameter, and seems to radiate a strange chill.
"Metal,"
Tadashi looks down at Flamemon, "Y-you can read th-th-that?"
"You can't?"
"No. M-Metal? Why's that on th-the r-rockface?"
Flamemon shrugs, and knocks on the cliff face to absolutely no effect. Of course. What was he expecting to happen? "I'unno,"
Tadashi frowns. This is interesting. And the Digivice is telling him that they need to be here. Unless it's on the other side of the mountains, in which case he has some choice words for the device...

"M'lord. Up ahead. Do you see it?" Shichiro did, but not until Gawain pointed it out. PawnChessmon had good eyes, apparently. If they had eyes. Good... visors? Digimon are weird. "Yeah, that's definitely a digimon. And next to it... there he is!" Shichi hissed, crouching a little. The boy he was looking for stood in front of a cliff next to the digimon, one Shichiro couldn't identify. Like most digimon. What the heck was he doing here? For that matter, what where they doing there? The pair just stood in front of that cliff, peering at some strange symbol etched into the rock. The newest DATS agent slowed his pace, crouching a little to allow the grasses to hide him somewhat as he slipped closer, straining to hear what was said.
"Get ready to move Gawain." he whispered quietly. "We can't let him take that kid away."
And, almost as an afterthought. "I... wish I could remember his damn name."

Tadashi examines his Digivice more closely. The black sections flash white momentarily, as does the symbol on the rockface. Part of it slides aside, revealing a perfectly rectangular passageway, six feet tall by four feet wide. The two exchange a look.
Flamemon summons a little ball of fire above his hand for light, and the two prepare to head inside. Yeah. Don't worry Tadashi, your fears are unfounded. Hidden chambers inside cliff faces that respond to your crazy new toy are totally normal, just go along with it, man.

"Holy f-" "Sire, we should follow before they get too far ahead," Gawain interrupted with censor-friendly timing. Shichiro nodded, dashing forward as the flickering glow of Flamemon's power began to fade. Thankfully the tunnel stayed open, and he made every attempt to tread softly. Gawain was mildly less successful, echoing a small metallic clink every time he tiptoed down. Hopefully the digimon kidnapper wouldn't notice. He did his best to keep the glow of the flame in sight while keeping out of sight of the boy and his captor. It was a difficult, awkward chase- Shichiro was definitely no sneak. Slowly, deliberately, he closed the distance between them. They would need to act soon- he just hoped they did it somewhere Gawain would have a little more room to work.

Eventually the leading pair arrived in a large chamber which didn't require Flamemon's light, and so he extinguished it. Luminscent blue crystals make up the floor, whilst every other surface is made of a highly-polished metal of some kind, giving the impression of thousands of mirrors. It was quite spectacular. That same 'Metal' symbol seems to be engraved on several of them. Helpful...
"R-Reminds me of my old d-d-dance studio," Tadashi manages to grind out.
"...So, izzis all?"
"How sh-should I know?"

Wow. That was a big chamber. Shichiro peered around a convenient spit of rock to watch the digimon lead the dancing kid deeper into the mirrored cave, their steps chiming faintly musically on the blue-glowing crystal floor. It was hard to track their movements, with their images bouncing off of everything. Everywhere. He'd better make a move before things got out of hand. Taking a steadying breath, Shichiro stood up tall, his digivice held loosely at the ready, chess keychain clinking a little as it swung. Their feet made similar chiming, echoing noises when he and Gawain walked out onto the crystal, though the digimon's had a tinkling metallic quality. He cleared his throat, stopping in an open spot of floor a ways away from the two. It was time to put a stop to this.
And he froze. What was he supposed to say? Gawain nudged him, urging to to say something anyway.
"Er. Stop right there, digimon. You have taken..." oh God what was his name? "...this young man from the human world and I insist you set him free right now. Oh, er. I am DATS Officer Shichiro Inoue."
Smooth, buddy. You get that badge out of a cereal box?

Flamemon and Tadashi both turn at the same time. They exchange a look, one of almost...amusement? What is going on here? Crazy Digital World! Still. Tadashi recognizes Shichiro instantly. How could he not? There's a Digivice of some kind in his hand, and it seems to be beeping! “Uh. H-hello,” Tadashi...stammers. Of course. Duh. “F-F-Flamemon hasn't taken me anywhere. We c-came here together t-to find what my Digivice was trying to sh-sh...” he pauses, and takes a deep breath. Poor kid, “Show me,”He looks down at the PawnChessmon, the data popping up on his Digivice's screen. Rookie level, like Flamemon. Hm. Potential there, but not much on the surface. Mm? Some kind of 'X' symbol flashed up there for a moment on the screen. Weird. He shakes his head and lowers the device. “Wh-what're you doing he-here, Inoue-San?”

Shichiro paused, dumbfounded. This was not what he was expecting. Gawain turned to point his visor at his partner, silently regarding him. This is your show, 'sire.' The purple-haired DATS officer looked back and forth between the digimon and the boy, his expression increasingly appalled as things began to click into place. Digivice. Kid. Digimon. His shoulders slumped a little, and his ears began to burn. He'd just made a huge mistake, hadn't he? "Wait, er. So you're you're not, um... you're not kidnapped?"
He lowered his face into one palm with a groan. "I'm an idiot. Flamemon is unregistered, so I detected his signal as a wild digimon. I saw you go through the portal and thought he... okay I guess maybe it does sound kind of dumb. Oh my God I am so bad at this."

Tadashi smiles a little as the other boy seems to...almost deflate and...are his ears going red? That's so adorable! He can't help but giggle at Shichiro's predicament, poor kid! Flamemon can't help but snort with laughter at the whole thing. He knows of DATS through his visits to Terminus City, but he didn't know they recruited officers so...young.
“Oh, it's okay, I-Inoue-San. I'm sure it's an ea-easy mistake t-t-to make,” Tadashi chuckles, “Who do you even r-register a m-monster with?”
“Pest control,”
“Sh-shut up, you,”
Oh, they've apparently already reached the stage of their relationship where friendly banter is a thing. Tadashi eyes his classmate though. How could he know know his name?! Tadashi knew his! Awful, “S-so you're some k-k-kind of secret agent, Inoue-San?”

And they were laughing at him now. What a masterfully executed, professional operation you've undertaken here. Way to go, sport. Bang-up job. He took a few steps forward so they could speak conversationally "Digimon in the human world are monitored by the Digimon Accidental Tactics Squad- DATS," he explained, trying to salvage whatever dignity he still had. "Registering with DATS prevents a digimon from showing up as wild on our systems. It helps prevent, um. Situations. Like this."
"I'm not a secret agent exactly," Shichi explained with a respectful bow in Tadashi's direction. "They recruited me after I got my own partner, Gawain here. We're just trying to help people. And please... Shichiro is fine."

“...Y-you never told me that,” Tadashi glares at Flamemon.
The demon shrugs, “News to me,”
Tadashi offers his sweetest and most charming smile, “W-we'll look at g-getting that sorted wh-when we head b-b-back, In--...Shichiro.” Well, that's good! “I-if you're not a s-secret agent, why don't I ever s-s-s-s...” another deep breath as he struggles with his stammer, “see you wearing y-you wearing your f-fancy uniform around school?”
Flamemon suddenly perks up, a moment or two before Tadashi's Digivice begins to beep again. A beam of silvery light is emitted from the screen, hitting the crystalline floor and creating a glowing 'Metal' symbol there again. A small totemic figure is generated just above the symbol, before the light and the symbol disappear. The totem changes into a tall, metallic green humanoid with mirrors on each arm and...concerning, a mirror for a face.
“Wh-whoa,” Tadashi blinks, more than a little startled. The information for the Digimon appears on his Digivice, but...he doesn't notice, of course.
The figure turns its head left, and then right, before turning to address Tadashi, completely ignoring Shichiro. Its mirror-face turns down to look at the Digivice, and then at Flamemon, “You,” Ooh. A rather upper-class British accent. How weird, “You're alright? How is this possible. You were thought long-since deleted!”
Flamemon blinks, “We know each other?”
The metal man seems to almost...deflate a little. “Reformatting. How many years have passed, I wonder, since I was imprisoned in this cave,” That...is that a question, or...no? What? Alright.
“Wh-what were you imprisoned f-f-for?”
The metal Digimon turns to Tadashi again, finally speaking directly to him, “And who are you supposed to be? A human? Interesting,”
“Hey. Watch your manners. That's my General you're speakin' to,” Flamemon jumps in. Tadashi seems surprised by that. Flamemon's protecting his honor, huh? Weird.
“...My apologies then. I am Mercurymon,” It takes a bow, “And I, along with my brethren, was thrown into a personal prison of sorts many years ago by a dark General at the head of an army of demons. He knew that we, the Legendary Warriors of the Elements were a force to be reckoned with,”
“L-Legendary Warriors...”
Flamemon quirks a red brow, “I've heard of them, but I thought they were, uh. Legends,”
“We are more than that. However I must...free my brothers and sisters. I must find them and learn what has happened so that balance can be restored,” He spreads his arms, “Slide Evolution...Sakkakumon,” Nothing happens, “I...what?” There's a short pause, “My power has waned with so many years of silence. Unfortunate,”
Oh right, Shichiro's there, too.
