Kai paused. On the one hand... He was utterly inadequate as protection, as recent events had shown. On the other... He was better than none. Which is what she'd likely have if she came back later without him. After all... Of the people Kai had met... Only a handful had seemed fully confident in their ability to fight. Still... If he did agree to go with her... And something went wrong. Ahhh! No matter what he chose it had the potential to turn into a massive mess! After a long and agonizing moment, he came to a conclusion. Having a weakling worth 50% of a person is more consistent than having a 50% chance of having someone better. He would go.
But before he could declare his intentions, Alicia suddenly shouted and started looking around. Huh? Oh, she clearly wasn't talking to him. But who was she talking to? There was no one here...? Then again... "Are... you talking to a spirit?" Kai asked, hesitantly. He knew a few spirit users... But only one other had talked to their spirit. Unless Scout did when Kai wasn't looking. Still, one out of four... He hadn't met enough spirit users to say. Maybe this was normal, albeit confusing for new spirit users. Or Alicia was just insane. That could be it too.

Alicia froze abruptly as Kai posed the armor-piercing question to her. That would explain things, wouldn't it? A strange voice that, given the boy's hesitant questioning, only she could here. The same voice being capable of reaching her no matter where she was so far. It made a bit too much sense.
"I... I guess I am? Though it's pretty hard to understand. At first every other word felt... broken? Like someone trying to talk over the cellphone with a bad connection. Now that I'm here in this Trailmon Terminal though, its getting a little clearer. I hope that sounds anything like what happens with other Spirit Users..."
"You y-zzt- and your freedom to -zzt- your -zzt-ny... F-zzt- yes, I'm a Spirit. Happy?"
Alicia wound up wincing again as the voice spoke up again with obvious irritation. She was pretty sure she also heard it grumbling about being thrown into tough situations without... something or other.
"Okay, this is going to sound crazy but I just got chewed out by it while hearing from it directly that yes it's a Spirit..." the woman muttered as she rubbed her head.

"Err... I'm sorry I'm not much help. What I can say is you're the not only one I've met who could talk to their spirit. Though... I never did ask if she could hear it before she found it. Didn't seem overly important at the time. Sorry." Kai certainly apologized a lot. "Maybe... He'll be in a better mood once he's found? Or she... i wouldn't want to make assumptions. What I'm trying to say is- Since you need an escort, I'll go with you." Kai just wished he could be more helpful. More useful. More informative.
Kai stepped back towards the Trailmon. He could try to explain a bit more on the way to Terminus City.

Alicia sighed softly and shook her head. "It's alright. You have partners that hang around you pretty much every hour of every day it seems. Its not like you had to worry too much about other... I'll just call 'em 'systems' of power in this Digital World unless someone tells me why I shouldn't." So I can't exactly hold you not having all the answers against you."
"The kid's cer-zzt- trying though. Can't f-zzt- a soul as br-zzt- as his."
She winced again, as the spirit put in his two cents. "And I got a better idea of what it, or rather he, sounded like just now so at least we don't have to trip over what word to use. Although really, I get a Spirit that sounds and likely acts male? There must be some god out there laughing at my misfortune."
She smiled a bit at that, and followed Kai over to the Trailmon in question. "All aboard and off to world of digital craziness hmm?" She couldn't help but twitch an eyebrow as she heard the spirit grumble 'finally...' under his breath.

Aboard the Trailmon, Kai took a seat. He waited, until both Alicia had taken her own seat, and the Trailmon had set off from the station. "Well... I don't know much, but I should at least try to tell you everything that I do know. I have met a reasonable number of spirit users. Each one has their own distinctive set of spirits... Though, sometimes there is overlap between these sets. My friends Scout and Rei both have a spirit for the Digimon called FlaWizarmon, after all. Also, spirits each have their own personality... Though, the effect of this can vary. Scout, for instance, only acts slightly different in most cases. Rei, on the other hand, completely becomes her spirit when she changes... To the point where she refers to her human self as a separate entity."
He should... Probably mention SkullGreymon, though. "This can... Have consequences. If your spirit is... Powerful enough, it can forcibly take over, and rampage. This happened to Scout... And as I said, he usually is more in control when he transforms! Hopefully... You won't have that problem, but I should warn you about it nonetheless. Anyways... As for speaking, as I've said, spirits each have their own personality. I don't know if they spoke to Rei when not transformed... But they certainly spoke when she was. The other Spirit user I know whose spirits speak is named Carrie. Her Gotsumon spirit has a... Very strong personality, and frequently talks to her even when not transformed. So, you shouldn't feel alone in that your spirit is talking to you." Hmm, was there anything else to say? No? Well then, off to the Digital World!
