Calm or Calamity? (Maia/Gallatin)

Gallatin's asthma finally caused him to slip up as he tripped in his exhausted stupor and fell flat onto the ground. In a second the monster thing would be on him. "No! Why'd I have to trip! That things going to eat me!" He screamed in his thoughts, unable to speak from being so out of breath. With one last drop of drool falling on the ground, the she-beast leaped forward to devour him completely.
Suddenly, Gallatin was completely blinded by a bright flash of light that came from nowhere! He also heard someone yell in his ear, "BLINDING RAY!" it yelled out before his sight was overwhelmed. The beast, having several eyes, must have been completely blinded and in enormous pain as it suddenly started roaring and crashing into trees. Before his eyes could even recover, Gallatin felt a soft, feminine hand pull him away and leaning him against a tree. When he could finally start making things out again, he saw that same witch girl from before press what used to be his phone into his hand and started saying something. His eyes were in so much of a daze though, that he could hardly focus on what she was saying... Something, something, anime. Something, transform, pick or choose, something, something, transform... Before he could even ask the girl had once more left his side and was yelling at something else...
Finally, he finally came to his senses. The girl was standing right next to what looked like the white fox creature jumping from tree to tree with the spider monster chasing it. He had absolutely no idea what do do in a situation like this. Then, in his hand, his... what did the girl call it, a digivice, started vibrating. At first, he thought it was going to explode in his hand and raised it above his head to throw it before suddenly a ding sounded from it. "What the hell..." In amazement at what this thing even was, Gallatin held it next to his face so that he could see the screen of it that had just lit up. On it, was a picture of what looked like a figure with a yellow pentagram and binary code in the shape of a person composing it. "Wha-What even is this! What am I supposed to do with this." In a panic, he started pressing buttons as trees around him were smashed to pieces by the spider monster. Apparently it had caught a hold of the girl's fox and threw it through several giant logs.
Suddenly, the monster snapped its head in his direction while he frantically started pressing buttons and shaking it around for it to do something... The monster was almost on top of him... when a crazy idea popped into his head. "Wait... anime... transform... this thing. What if... well, i'm out of ideas and about to die, might as well try something" With that, he grabbed the device in one hand and pressed a button on it to highlight the action figure on its screen. "This better work or i'm toast! U-uh, DIGIVICE TRANSFORMATION GO!!!" He yelled out while Drawing a letter "G" in the air in front of him with the device's light beam on its top before thrusting it forward....
Both him and the beast paused to stare at each other. The letter "G" that he drew was for some reason hovering between him and the She-Arachnid monster where he drew it for a flavor maneuver. 2 more seconds passed before the creature doubled over and... BEGAN LAUGHING!? It was hissing quicker and smiling, so maybe that was its freakish laugh. It then extended its claws and prepared to strike, when suddenly the symbol between them shattered. A bright green light emanated from it, dousing everything with its emerald hue before Gallatin's body was completely engulfed into it.

Did this guy hear anything that she had just said? Ugh, this was a waste. Why was she even trying? If it weren't for Kuu, she'd already be at home, safely in front of the computer. Instead, she just had to hope that something had gotten into this moron's head. There wasn't much luck for them, then, was there?
The Arachnemon had grabbed at the pipefox, throwing it, but the little monster, being small and flexible, hit the first tree with his front feet, scuttling up it as quickly as he could. Could he make a hit and run tactic become a thing? Trees were kind of meant for the fox, anyway, right?
But, before he had any time to further plan, the boy had stepped out to the plate. Or... to look like a moron. Ears lowered, as the fem-monster began laughing. At least he made a good distraction? "...You can... still be a hero? Another time?" he offered, in some form of consolation. Not that this really fixed the situation at hand. Maia was also just staring at Gallatin, almost hopeless. Well.. they had a good run, right? Or, at least he did. She was planning on just taking her pet and fleeing, if need be.
As the monster went to strike the boy, and Maia was already moving to a safer spot, the Rookie flung himself off the tree, despite the sudden light coming from the strange kid. Well, maybe his digivice was working finally? It made a perfect shot for Kudamon, in the meantime, though! Whirling his body around, the Digimon aimed for the back of Arachnemon's head, shouting "Bullet Whirlwind!" Maybe it would buy the Spirit User an extra second or two of time!

" Bullet Whirlwind!" " Blinding Ray!" " Get up already!" " DIGIVICE TRANSFORMATION GO!!!" " You can... still be a hero?" " AGE AIR BUSTER!" " DIE, SPAWN." " Execute! Spirit Evolution!" " Forbidden Temptation!" " DNA Digivolve to!" " AWAKEN!!!" Millions of words, cries, emotions flashed through Gallatin's being. Suddenly, he was jolted by a shock running through his body. He looked around him to see that, everyone had completely stopped moving around him. Everything also looked like it was put under a purple filter as everything was doused in that hue. The girl's pet was frozen in mid air, twisted around in a circle while holding out a long metal container. The girl, what was her name... Maia maybe, she was standing aside while yelling at her pet something. He couldn't tell what because she too was frozen in place. There was something especially unnatural looking about it all but he couldn't place it. Then it hit him... the wind had stopped. The leaves and grass were still blow to the side, yet he couldn't feel any air passage. " Interesting sight isn't it." A voice ripped through the silence, startling Gallatin out of his trance. He looked around to try to see who was talking, but everybody was still frozen. " Not frozen. I've simply slowed down time to pass at a fraction of a second for us. And i'm down here." The digivice in his hand vibrated, and he looked down to see that the figure he saw on the screen was shaking whenever the voice spoke. " What is even happening." He groaned. He understood absolutely nothing of what was happening. " Don't talk. Just listen." The figure in his digivice interrupted. " We don't have very much time. In a matter of seconds, my power will stop and time will resume at its original pace. If you want to live through that, you better listen up." Gallatin, at a loss for words, just complied and shut up. Living through this experience would be a fantastic thing for all that he'd been hoping at this point. " I am known as AncientKronosmon. I am a digimon, a digital creature not quite unlike the Arachnemon that attacked. I wont go into explaining that right now though, just ask the tamer girl if you live through this ordeal. Anyway, I am known as the Legendary Spirit of Time. My powers are, as you can see, controlling the flow of time. I have been imprisoned to fractal code for almost a millenium, and I took my chance binding myself to you as a digivice. Though, unfortunately as a repercussion of this, I as an individual being will cease in a few moments. I and my power will live on through you. Now, I need you to take your fractal code, and cross scan it with mine to complete the binding process." Completely confused about this, Gallatin was at a loss for words. What's a digimon, what are spirits, who the hell is AncientKronosmon, what does he mean by bonding with him, and the more pressing thing at the moment, " What's 'my fractal code'?!" As if answering the question himself, a woozy sensation overcame him as he felt some of his strength get diminished as a circle of green and yellow binary code expanded from his hand and started spinning around it. " That enough of an explanation for now. Scan your fractal code now otherwise your going to die in approximately 3... 2..." " Scanning now!" He yelled out while frantically doing as he said. He fumbled around the digivice in his hand for a second before he got a firm grip on it. Out of the digivice, a string of red fractal code flew out of the figure. Gallatin slid the edge of the digivice's top against his own circle of code that was spinning around his hand. The digivice's fractal code entirely detatched from it and merged on top of his own, turning it orange and blue and adding another circle of code spinning perpendicular to his other one. " There. The merge is complete, now hurry. Execute the evolution of your spirit!" AncientKronosmon yelled as his voice faded before entirely silencing. He was gone. Around him, the purple film that had covered everything was melting, and everyone around him was slowly increasing the speed of their respective actions. The Arachnemon's swiping at the empty space he was standing in earlier, Maia's yelling at her "digimon" as he was spinning around and going to hit the monster; they were all slowly commencing. And the wind... the wind was flowing. Time finally resumed its natural flow. The Arachnemon bared a confused expression at its slashing at air. Maia also wore a similar expression as she saw Gallatin standing several feet behind where the Arachnemon was, as if he had teleported. He then tilted his head in a playful manner, and for the first time that entire day, smiled at Maia as if saying " Hey, sorry about before. Everything's going to be fine now, I think." With that, Gallatin gripped his digivice and slashed it against his new combined string of fractal code. " EXECUTE! SPIRIT EVOLUTION!" The code expanded and engulfed him in a sphere of data. His body was stretched and compressed as a blue data plate the size of him pressed down on his body, flattening and encasing himself in a two dimensional form. Over him, another data plate, this one yellow, flattened down on him also; the new one had the pattern of what looked like the AncientKronosmon Figure's face engraved on where it would go over his head. This continued as data piled upon data on top of him, merging with his body as his limbs were altered, stretched, flattened and elongated. Finally it stopped and he was dropped onto a pedestal that looked exactly like a larger version of the AncientKronosmon Figure's base. He tested out his new form by doing a few punches, with each one a yellow pentagram circle appeared, before jumping into the air and doing a spin kick. A name popped into his head, and he yelled it out in a mixture of his voice and a less aged AncientKronosmon. " CHRONAMON!"

Of course, Maia and Kuu had no idea what was going on in the weird kid's head. And, frankly, as long as he didn't do anything too much more stupid than he already had, neither of them cared. Time had halted, but they also didn't care, because... well, they didn't know. But, once the timeflow had corrected itself, both could see the person in a different spot, and a confused Ultimate.
Maia crossed her arms, raising an eyebrow. "About time," she mumbled, still trying to get over her irritation. With her own Digivice held in her hand, she clicked the buttons, trying to be casual as she scanned the Chronamon for some sort of explanation on the new 'digimon', and Kuu's attack hit the back of the Arachnemon's head, only causing it more anger than before. The Ultimate whipped around, swiping at the little rookie as he fled for the trees again.
"I sure hope you know some attacks," the girl warned, as she backed further away from the fight. She'd been lucky so far, after all. The Arachnemon had seemed to mainly focus on stopping the other kid from becoming a Digimon. What was up with that?
Still, the monster spun around, looking for a target. This flashy new Digimon would make for a perfect one! "Acid Mist!" was the only warning the Ultimate would give before spitting something green from it's mouth. Gee, everyone had to wonder what that was, given the name. Hopefully, it wouldn't touch anyone! Especially the new Spirit User that it was targeting!

On the information that the digivice brought up on Chronamon, it showed nothing but his Rookie level and his name, but all of the other information read "Data Not Found", including his elemental type. The data sphere that had surrounded Gallatin had faded away to reveal him in his new form as Chronamon. In amazement at his new transformation he looked over his hands and short patches of new fur. It was amazing. "HOLY SHIT! Im one of those DIGIMON-Things!" He thought to himself, spending a second admiring himself before realizing that the thing that gave him his powers just died to do so...
Before he had any more of a chance to lament, the Arachnemon had fired some sort of acid from its mouth directly at him! In a second, the acid was an inch from his face and he held his arm up to offer some sort of protection. Words slipped out of his mouth as he held them up, that he shouted out of an unknown reflex;
"CHRONO BREAK!"
Around him, everyone once again froze in time. Gallatin was completely amazed at how he had done that, but quickly scrambled out of the way of the attack over to where Maia was standing. He took a moment to catch his breath... "Phew... okay... well at least i can take a few moments to plan ahead and..." He was interrupted as the purple color that symbolized time being frozen faded around him, to his shock. Once more everyone was surprised at his instant change in location to standing next to Maia. The acid that had been previously inches from his face landed "harmlessly" on the ground where it disintegrated the ground, making a foot deep and wide hole.
"What, why did it stop?! The one the other guy did lasted for 3 or 4 minutes!?" He questioned in outrage. "It's only been a few seconds!"
Acting more cautious as to what had happened, the Arachnemon slowly took better gauge of the situation and its surroundings. This wasn't good. The Forbidden Elemental Ancient Digimon had already transferred its powers to the boy. At least he wasn't even at a fraction of the strength of AncientKronosmon, but he still might be trouble should he evolve. Taking notice of the Kudamon stealthily going from tree to tree, she decided that it would be best to capture the boy and take her to her master. That way, they might still be able to extract the spirit. But first, she'd have to get rid of the girl and the Kudamon. After a moment of intimidating the children and secretly studying the pattern of the Kudamon's jumps, she swiftly did a 360 turn towards the tree that he had just leaped towards.
"SPIDER THREAD!" A blast of sticky white thread flew from her hand and on a direct course towards the midair Kudamon.

Of course the Digivice didn't like Spirit Users, flashing errors for almost everything, aside from the name. Not that Maia ever believed that the stupid device was ever fully functioning. It seemed like it was pretty broken over half of the time. Still, she was trying not to stress out too much. This was more than a failed cause, considering that she was already stressed out enough that she was pretty sure that she had lost the ability to fully process the situation. Shouldn't she be terrified? It wasn't like she was particularly afraid of spiders, but when it's giant, half-woman, and trying to kill everyone, it should be a horrifying experience. Instead, the girl felt rather numb to the situation, eyes darting everywhere.
Except for the few seconds when the green spirit user had stopped time. But, again, she had no idea of this even happening, only noticing when he was alongside her again. "What are you even talking about?" she questioned the boy that would have almost given her a heart attack for appearing by her, if her adrenaline wasn't blurring her ability to establish what was even fully happening. Instead, she felt kind of dizzy. But, Maia was pushing everything aside to try to find some sort of way to get out of the situation. They couldn't really run, though, could they? After all, if they left the spiderwitch to run around the forest, she'd surely attack anyone that came to the area, or go to the public! People could die. People that Maia cared about were at risk. After all, the forest was surrounding most of the housing districts in the area.
Kudamon heard the attack coming, only having seconds to curl into the cartridge that he carried with him. "Protect!" he squeaked, as the bullet was hit with blade-like webbing, slamming into the tree that the creature was trying to jump to. The web still wrapped around the object, causing it to jerk when it hit the ground, a pop of the seal breaking, and Kuu attempting to safely escape the object. "O-oof," he mumbled, finally getting himself out of his safety tube. That... that kind of hurt! Sure, his ability had saved him this time, but what would have happened if it hadn't been an option? This was a bit scary! But... Kuu wanted to be a hero. He could do this! He... just needed a second to gather himself. Maybe a few seconds to gather himself, actually.
Maia would have feared the worst when the razor-wire hit the monster's casing, but she had watched it save him when he had initially evolved. But, that was an attack from another rookie! This was a little ridiculous, but at least it gave her some faith that he wasn't going to die too easily.

The Arachnemon was very annoyed. It was bad enough that she had failed to stop the Spirit of Time, AncientKronosmon, from combining its Fractal Code with the human, but now she couldn't even take down a stupid rookie. That was it, she wasn't going to let this fight drag on any longer. Her orders were very clear, bring the code back at all costs, regardless of whether it was attached to the human or not. That just meant he had to come with her, and she had the perfect bargaining chip. Surprising everyone tensed for battle around her, she spoke.
"Look human, you don't know the amount of dangerous power that you've just inherited, nor the forces that want it." She explained, he beady eyes shifting back and forth before landing on the face of Maia, who looked the most disturbed out of the group. "You look like a reasonable bunch so i'll cut you all a deal. The boy leaves with me, and I leave the rest of you alive and don't kill every human in this settlement."
The deal was a rather splendid one for both sides considering Maia's position. All she had to do was completely betray Gallatin, and she would theoretically save hundreds of lives for the cost of 1. Arachnemon was an Ultimate level digimon, so there was no way they alone could beat her; and at such a low evolution stage, while the boy's powers were an inconvenience, it could be handled rather easily with minimal effort.
To Gallatin's horror, he realized that there was no way out of this that he could survive. It was either be killed now and take the rest of Shibuya with him, or go alone and die wherever this digimon wanted to take him. Finally, he decided; he would turn himself over to the monster and hopefully save the world. He turned over to Maia and was about to tell her that he was going to turn himself over to Arachnemon, but paused as he saw her face contort in a way that suggested she was actually considering turning him over herself!

Maia, in fact, wasn't disturbed in the slightest. Sure, her heart was racing, but her face was completely blank. Even so, to the point that when the Arachnemon looked at Maia, she made eye contact with it. She maintained a poker face, while listening to the offer. During that time, Kuu had slowly worked his way up the back of her clothing, to stand with front paws on her shoulder. He wasn't letting the crazy spider monster get too close to his human!
There was a small breath, the only sign of the tamer collecting herself, before she would say anything. Kudamon was still standing, and Maia knew plenty of people to call. Sure, most were Rookie spirit users, but they could likely hold off the monster. And, Kai with his twin digimon, likely would show up eventually, considering it would be an attack on where they lived. "I'm going to be honest, okay? You're a pain," she pointed, first at the demonic Digimon, then at Gallatin. "Both of you. But, you," the finger went back toward the spider, "you're threatening my home. Don't do it again.
What was she even thinking? Was she scolding the Ultimate Digimon that could easily eat her? "I'm going to make a decision for you, kid," she mumbled, referring to Gallatin. After all, his introduction had been so cruddy that she didn't even feel right calling him by his name. "You can take him. Sure. But, on the condition that I join you -- with my Digimon. That way, I know you're not going to come back and destroy the area, anyway." Kuu's ears perked up, eyes widening at this crazy offer. What was Maia doing? Was she seriously offering to go into the Digital World with a giant spider monster just to make sure it wasn't going to change it's mind?
Still, she bit back the idea of running a threat. She wasn't going to risk the backlash. Once in the Digital World, she'd figure out what to do from there. Maia was no hero. She wasn't going to try to save everyone. But, going home empty-handed wasn't entirely what she wanted, either. Not for a virtuous reason at all, but for her own pride at this point. Gallatin had to be too stupid to survive if the Ultimate took him alone. Maybe, she'd think of some way to help him escape, even if he did seem like a moron. "Can we call that a deal? Or, will that be a problem?"
So much for a calm day.

Arachnemon wasn't going to be stiffed by a little human girl. If she wasn't already in trouble with failing her master, she might have agreed to it. But there was too much on the line for her to risk something going awry. "Look human, I'm the one making the deals around here. Your not involved with this, and I'm not risking you trying something. The boy comes, ALONE." She emphasized. "I could just kill you here, but I'm in a good mood. Give him to me now and you never have to hear from me again. Don't and then the blood of every human that crosses my path will be on your hands." To show that she wasn't negotiating any more, Arachnemon even opened a portal behind her using some sort of device the she stored god-knows-where.
"Wait a second! Don't I get a say in all of this?!" Gallatin yelled in outrage to which everyone turned to look at him for a second before dismissing him and turning back to stare at each other. He was just about to be the cool hero person sacrificing himself before Maia decided to just hand him over, calling him kid no less. Really? KID?! She looked barely any older than himself! "That's ENOUGHb" He yelled out, startling them both enough to look back at him. That was it, he wasn't just going to let his life be bargained with back and forth.
Gallatin broke into a sprint towards the Arachnemon, who noticed and fired another Web from her hand at him, however he was better prepared. "CHRONO BREAK!" He shouted out, stopping the webbing mid air, along with everything else around him. Willing himself to move faster across to the Arachnemon, he once again yelled out, this time a new technique in the stopped time. "FAST FORWARD STRIKE!!!" A magic circle made up of a yellow pentagram and binary spiral appeared around each of his legs, accelerating the speed of their movement by ridiculous proportions. He was still felt each movement as if he would have if doing it over time though, exhausting him greatly. He easily cleared the distance, making sure to duck under the webbing, before launching himself in a flying tackle at the Arachnemon just as time resumed, once again looking like he teleported and flying straight through the portal, carrying the surprised Arachnemon through it with him.

Maia also didn't seem to be ready to budge. "The second you attacked my digimon, I became involved," the tamer argued, even though, honestly, Kuu had been the first to actually attack. That part was irrelevant, though. "You're bargaining with me. You couldn't even hurt my partner in his rookie stage," she pointed out, trying to make it clear that the Arachnemon was losing her ability to be threatening. In fact, even as the adrenaline was finally settling a little in the girl's body, she was finding the situation a little less scary than she had anticipated. Though, much more of the fight and Kuu would have likely gotten pretty horribly injured, he at least had one defensive ability to keep him from dying immediately.
Wow, the spider lady sure gave Maia some credit for worrying about other people! Which, sure, she did, but she didn't actually plan on letting the Digimon leave the forest. She put her hand in her pocket, to touch her cell phone, in case she needed to call for help. Could Kuu hold off the Ultimate long enough for other people to show up? "Look--" there was going to be further attempt to negotiate, but someone felt the need to start yelling and acting up. And, by someone, that meant Gallatin. During her debate on if she wanted to tell him to shut up, time froze again. She'd have complained about how obnoxious all of this stopping was getting, but it wasn't like the tamer knew what was happening, still. Maia was completely clueless to the boy's attacks.
Time resumed, allowing for Maia and her Digimon to watch as Arachnemon and Gallatin had both gone through the portal. The blonde took a few steps toward the still in-tact rip in the world, examining it. "Thinking about jumping?" her conscience piped up, poking her cheek with his nose.
"Not really," Maia admitted, debating on poking the strange rift with a finger, but deciding against it.
"He's pretty dumb," the Kudamon sniffed, "he might die." Why was Kuu being so lax about all of this? Did hitting a tree knock some sense into him? Or, maybe he was just too tired to work with his usual ridiculousness.
Maia looked at the Digimon, dully. He was up to something. Finally, the calm demeanor of her partner drastically changed to one that she was more used to. "Maia!" the Digimon cried, flailing his head around, "you're gonna end up being a bad guy at this rate!" What? "We gotta save the damsel-uh-wait," Kuu paused, trying to work out something in his head. "Can guys be damsels, Maia?"
Well, at least she didn't have to worry about him being too serious about the situation anymore. Sighing, she looked over the portal a bit more. How long was it going to stay open? Probably not for much more time. "Chances of us dying from jumping through a mysterious portal?"
"None!" the digimon cheered, before pausing, ears twitching, "Okay, maybe fifty percent. It's the Digital World, what's the worst that could happen?" This logic, yes, it was flawless. "We gotta make sure the spider 'mon doesn't eat him, at least, okay?"
Well... Arachnemon did kind of irk Maia, anyway. Was that enough reason to actually risk their safety, though? Eh, sure, why not. It wasn't like Kuu would ever leave her alone about it if she didn't jump, anyway. So, after this short debate, the girl took a deep breath before stepping through the closing portal.
