By now, the two brothers had both degenerated back into human form. This would be a long voyage. No sense in holding their Digimon forms for almost two whole days, even for weaker ones.
"Wait, they can fly in that form? That's so cool!" Elliot hadn't met any Xros Generals besides Tadashi. The idea of being someone who had all sorts of cool Digimon friends that they could mix and match all the time struck Elliot as awesome. Hearing about cool Xros General stuff from Tadashi only made him seem cooler in Elliot's eyes. "You gotta show me later. I bet you and your team can do all sorts of cool stuff."
Like all the cool stuff Tadashi just talked about. He wasn't sure what kind of classes the boy took, but dance class sounded awesome, and Digital adventures were always fun. He sounded kinda funny again when he asked how Elliot was doing, but the boy didn't really notice. "I've just been exploring around here and enjoying my vacation while I can. Only a few days left here before I gotta start gearing up to go home. Thanks a ton for offering a ride!" He really hadn't expected this trip to take a whole day and a half. He was so thankful that Tadashi would be able to get them back at a timely fashion.
"It runs in the family, huh?" Isaac asked, very interested in that prospect. The Digital World was so new to him and Elliot, so the idea of it being an intergenerational thing for Ren stuck out. It made sense that if they developed cities and societies, the Digital World wouldn't just arise from a vacuum, but it still seemed so strange to hear. Still, it sounded like he was having great success exploring the seven Digital seas. Judging by what else the captain says, he was having more success at it than he was at living a normal life.
"I'm not sure what brings me here, really," he admitted, after recovering from his rapt interest in Ren's tale. "I mean, Elliot and I found these spirits, and I guess we just feel responsible for them. We gotta use them, right? Who will if we don't?"

"Yup!" Tadashi offers a little smile. Flying trains are cool, no matter how ridiculous their personalities might be sometimes. Still, he thought Xros Generals were pretty cool too (not that he'd ever met any others). As far as he could tell, most people only had one Digimon partner. Sometimes none, like Elliot and Isaac. But he could basically have as many as he liked, as far as he could tell. "Well, uh. Just a f-f-f-few forms we've mastered so far. Uh. M-Maildramon. DarkT-Trailmon. And Sh-ShadowRinkmon." Still sounds cool. Shut up, Tadashi.
Tadashi...casually throws an arm around Elliot's shoulders as they look out over the railing at the wide blue ocean before them. The level of flirtatiousness in his voice increases threefold. Jeez. Nothing better to do, huh? "Oh y-yeah? You guys are h-headed back to America?" Woo! Yeah, accents! Tadashi's got this, yo. "I w-wonder if you'll st-still be able to come here when y-you go h-h-h-h-h--.." he takes a deep breath, as if trying to steady his voice, "h-home. And it's n-no problem. I was g-gonna take DarkTrailmon back anyway, and I wouldn't m-mind giving you a lift, Elliot. And your brother too," the last bit is...clearly an afterthought.
Duskmon notes this strange behavior between the two of them, and given how Isaac reacted to the first tone change, he turns his head towards the older Sunderland boy. Just in case he's foolish enough to try something.

Ren nodded, hid eyes still out over the water. "It does, but I don't know a lot of the details. Grandpa was 'away traveling' as Grandma put it, for a while. A few months at least. But she'd never talk about what he was doing or when it was. I'd thought they were World War II stories, but it was actually more recent than that. Now all I have are journals written in cypher and digicode. I'll be deciphering them for a long time... but they've led me along the right path so far," he said with a hand waving vaguely out at the Dutchmon and the ocean beyond it. Ren approved of Isaac's reasoning regarding the boys' Spirit Totems, and gave him an encouraging grin as he hesitantly tried to explain their reasoning. "Right. Now you have to decide what you're going to do with them, don't you?" He laughed, giving the wheel a partial spin to change the ship's heading. "You could always join me on the Dutchmon. Adventure's always better with a crew to share it." They were interrupted by the clarion call of brass bell rung twice in succession. Ren grinned and he released the wheel, rapping his knuckles on a nearby railing fondly and descending to the main deck, Isaac presumably close behind. "Right boys, that's Chef's bell. Who wants some grub?" The Dutchmon's galley was a low-roofed affair located near the rear of the ship's lower decks. Open port holes allowed sunlight to stream in from outside on the two long, rectangular tables in the middle of the room surrounded by benches. Datamon and most of the Monmon had beat them there, filling up perhaps half of the space and leaving plenty of room. They all watched a door on the far wall expectantly and jumped not at all when it slammed open. From the kitchen, Chef slid out with a cast iron pot hanging from his hook. He deftly swung it up and around to clatter gently on the nearest table, looked over to Ren and saluted with the hook and a cry of "Seafood Stew, Captain!" and then undulated back into his kitchen. His hook slammed the door shut behind him. Oh, and Chef was a giant earthworm. [One more Ren post until arrival.]

Elliot stiffened up like a board as Tadashi draped an arm over his shoulders. It wasn't something he was used to at all, and not something he seemed very comfortable with. Still, he turned to Tadashi to answer his questions. "Yeah, California. It's been too long. I'm really starting to miss it," Elliot said, the tone in his voice warm and nostalgic. This boat voyage was going to take a long while, and his mom was going to want to kill him and Isaac, but when he was back it would only be a day or so before the trip back home. As much as he enjoyed the Digital World, and would miss people like Maia and Alicia, being able to go back was such ha wonderful possibility. So would no longer being at risk of death, the main trouble with his Digital adventures.
"I mean, I don't think we'll ever have the cash on hand to go to Japan again," Elliot said. While Isaac had so many regrets about not seeing Japan to its fullest potential, Elliot didn't seem to mind as much. "I don't know if we can access the Digital World from back in the US. But after we get back to our normal lives, I'm sure we'll give it a shot."
Isaac, meanwhile, was not happy about an older guy draping himself over his little bro. He pretended to notice a really interesting coral formation in the distance, calling out. "Hey, Elliot! Check this out!" and pointing. With that, Elliot slid out from Tadashi's arm, smiling politely before going to join his brother. That was a small win in Isaac's eyes, for sure.
From there, Isaac considered Ren's offer. On one hand, high stakes adventure on the seas would be a really fun, helpful way to spend his time in the Digital World. It was also true that in the human world, he was kind of aimlessly drifting along. Could he really quite his home in good faith, though? What if as soon as he turned his back, he realized he was on the verge of a breakthrough? Besides, it just wouldn't work. Even if he wanted to follow in Ren's footsteps, he was due to go back home in just a few more days. "Appreciate the offer, but I'll be back in California soon. I don't know if I'll be able to stick around for too much longer, sadly."
Oh well. Dinner time! The two boys eagerly followed after Ren, getting in line to get their hands on some food. Isaac tried to process how the heck a worm with no arms or legs got much cooking done, while Elliot let his nose and stomach do the talking for him.

"Well, I h-hope you can both keep c-c-coming here. You seem like n-nice guys, and it'd be g-good to stay in touch with other k-k-kids who c-come here," Tadashi smiles, before trying his hardest to speak in English, "And it is g-good ch-chance to practice m-my English," Well. Maybe stick to Japanese and Danish, Taddy.
As Elliot moves away, Tadashi meets Isaac's eye with a 'knowing' look. Or...is that 'offended'? Huh. He turns to Duskmon and gestures for him to follow. The two stride across the deck and follow after the rest of the group down into the galley. Mercurymon is far too busy polishing the ship to bother with any of that nonsense...plus he doesn't have a mouth. Neither does Duskmon, but he's accepted the duty of protecting his Lord as a personal guard, so he has to remain by his side at all times. Especially on a ship at sea, with enemies potentially all around.
Tadashi takes a seat at the corner of a table and picks at the food with a definite lack of interest. Duskmon stands against the wall directly behind him, casting a shadow over the table as his many eyes sweep the room.
Yeah, he saw what you just did there. Gross.

Unlike Tadashi, Ren ate with steady appetite, consuming seconds of both the stew and the bread left on the table to accompany it. The Monmon kept up quiet conversation among themselves. Ren, Datamon and their passengers all had most of a table to themselves. "Tadashi," he spoke up after he'd finished his first bowl. "I haven't met many Xros Generals before now. How's it been, managing a whole team of Digimon?" He paused, a thoughtful expression crossing his face as Ren turned to his left, his gaze scanning over his crew of Monmon. Point. "Actually, I suppose in that sense I could relate somewhat. You combine them in lieu of typical digivolution, right?"
"I'm pretty curious about you boys as well," he said to Elliot and Isaac. "What do you know about your Spirit Totems? They're damn fascinating. Finding the Ocean Totems has been one of the best experiences of my life."
[Arrival next Ren post. If you have things to say or do, do or say them now.]

He huddled back in the shadows, temporarily returned to his natural form to eat the bowl of stew he'd smuggled. He was... disconcerted. He hadn't expected this newest arrival. She hadn't anticipated it. He ate efficiently, discarded the bowl and pulled his armored, black-cloaked form around himself once again. She could feel it, they were getting close. And sooner than expected. That at least, She had anticipated.

Before leaving, Elliot grinned at Tadashi's efforts. "Not bad at all!" he said. "Way better than my English."
At the knowing look from Tadashi, Isaac shot an equally knowing one. There was a mix of haplessness and discomfort in his eyes. He made a mental note to try and nip this issue in the bud later, because it was starting to reach quite discomforting levels.
Elliot ate diligently, quickly, and cleanly, polishing off his food fast enough to be ready for Ren's questions. "I really don't know too much about them," the boy admitted. "We can make them work, but we don't know what they represent, where they came from, or why we have them instead of a Digimon like everyone else. It's kind of confusing. But we're handling it all as good as we can."
Isaac, on the other hand, figured his fear of an older guy hitting on his brother was a far more pressing fear than his fear of being stabbed to death by a weird eyeball knight. For that reason, he made the decision to join Tadashi's table instead of sitting by Elliot. It was about time he finally had this matter settled. "Look, I'm sorry if we got off on the wrong foot. But could you maybe cool things down with Elliot a bit? He's not even old enough for that kind of thing," he asked, figuring it would be better to at least put the matter on the table.

Tadashi shrugs in response to the question posed by Ren, "It's b-been alright. I don't really ha-have anything t-to compare it to. And I r-really only ha-have three Digimon so far," He frowns, "What's 'Digivolution'? Is th-that where they change f-forms by themselves rather than ha-having to Xros?" Wait, haven't you seen that already?
He gives that some thought, suddenly snapping out of it with a slight start when a wild Isaac appears. Apparently his peripheral vision sucks. He looks up at Isaac with a slightly bewildered look, a seemingly genuine one! "Alright. I've g-got a few Q's. I'd l-l-love some A's though. 'Cool things down'? I...firstly, he c-can't be much y-younger than I am. S-secondly I have no idea what y-you're t-talking about," I...is he serious? What about all the inappropriate arm-touching? The flirty voice? The bizarre looks he was giving Isaac!
