At Last. [Double Digimental Hunt.] [Takahiro/Shichiro]
|
Post by Takahiro Evans on Mar 26, 2016 18:20:23 GMT
Takahiro glances down at his Digivice IC yet again, making sure they're on the right path. The compass indicates they are, which is good enough for him, and so he continues onward in silence. It'd taken long enough for his Digivice to indicate something for him, after he'd seen both Tomomi and Shichiro get their Digimentals. As petty as he felt for thinking it, he'd gotten more than a little jealous, and was glad he was finally getting something out of it.
Still, the Jungle wasn't an ideal place for him. Hot, humid, with rough terrain. His asthma was likely to be killing him before too long. The heat and humidity may be Digital, but his awful lungs are not. Still, he remembered to bring his inhaler! And...his DATS coat. The latter of which he is most assuredly regretting right now, in this ridiculous jungle. Couldn't his things have been located in a nice cafe somewhere?
Petermon walks along beside his partner, keeping one eye on Takahiro, and another on their surroundings looking for signs of danger. He's not much for jungles either, but at least he's quite a mobile fighter should trouble arise. And it will. He's certain of it. After all, when was the last time he and Takahiro went somewhere and it was all fine? Never. Exactly.
This had better be worth it.

Shichiro followed along a little behind Takahiro having just as much fun moving through the jungle in his own white, heavy DATS coat. He'd followed Taka's very sensible lead in wearing it, because The Digital World Is Trying To Kill You. Unfortunately, skill with fencing and running did not prepare one to move through densely packed digital jungle, so he was about as miserable as Taka. He kept the complaining to a minimum though; he had volunteered to join his boyfriend on this expedition, after all. It was sort of a nice change of pace from chasing bio-emergent digimon. Or Kiyoshi. It wasn't exactly a romantic picnic, but heck. Their lives were weird.
Nearby, Gawain trundled along a little ahead of Shichiro in his Gladimon form. The Knight of Honor's short legs were more suited to the terrain than PawnChessmon's nonexistent ones. The pair of blades he was using to cut through the dense foliage didn't hurt, either. Overall it was slow, uncomfortable going. But at least they hadn't been attacked yet. The thought alone probably ruined that for them, though. Never hand the universe an easy straight line.
"Does your digivice have a range indicator?" He asked Takahiro, raising his voice a little to be heard by his leading boyfriend. "Maybe we could find an open path, have KnightChessmon carry us closer."

"N-no range indicator," Takahiro answers, somewhat distracted. He appreciated Shichiro's company of course, but right now he was focused on finding these things so Petermon could become stronger. They hadn't outright lost before, but they'd come very close. And he wasn't willing to lose his friend any time soon. "W-we'll be fine on foot, Shichan,"
Only a minute or two later, they arrive at the entrance to a large cavern, illuminated by some...hideous blue crystals. "...I-inside," Sure. Why not. Of course the precious power-up object is inside a terrifying cave with unnaturally luminescent crystalline structures. Where else would it be?
Petermon speaks, a rarity! "Of course it is. I suggest I proceed ahead of you, since there is certainly some sort of hazard awaiting us," Is he just being sensible, or is he really so jaded after only being alive for a few weeks? Two months, maybe. Crazy.
Takahiro gives his partner a nod, and the Fairy Digimon hovers in, keeping his eyes open. Takahiro follows a few feet behind, eyes on his Digivice. At least they're not in the dark...
Probably not alone, either. Were those footsteps?

They were footsteps. Shichiro's and Gawain's, as he and the Gladimon followed Taka and Petermon into the cave. Shichiro slipped his digivice from his belt, keeping it close at hand- just in case. The strange blue crystals gave them enough weird twilight to see by; Shichiro trotted up to walk next to Takahiro as Gawain clanked his way up to Petermon. Like he thought they were friends, or something. Did Petermon have friends? He probably just had people he tolerated to live. Maybe until they got old enough, or something. Yeah. That must be it.
Shichiro sighed a little as they walked, pulling at the collar of his heavy coat a little. The humidity had dropped in the cave, but strangely gave way to a drier warmth. It took him a little while to notice the way these weird, blue crystals emanated warmth when he walked by. He reached out, idly considering touching one, and thought better of it. Why risk it.
Clearly Takahiro was having an effect on him, being all cautious and thoughtful. Or something.

Takahiro continues to walk, eventually emerging into a colossal chamber, the size of a football pitch. Most of the light in here seems to be coming from a huge crystal on the ceiling, near the middle, but there are still others dotted around the edge of the room. Takahiro continues to follow his Digivice's arrow. As he passes each crystal, it momentarily turns green, but returns to blue as he continues on. It doesn't seem to react to Shichiro at all! The young DATS agent comes to stop at a wall, eyeing a symbol etched into the wall . "I d-don't recognize it. It isn't written in D-Digicode," Petermon quirks a brow. "What? I l-learned to read D-Digicode. Shut up," Petermon rolls his eyes. The tunnel they arrived through suddenly...collapses. Several tons of rubble collapses around the entrance, sealing the pair in, as a low chuckle fill the chamber, coming from all around. Even with the light that's being cast, the chamber is so large that there's no guarantee they'd be able to see anyone in here anyway...

"You should teach me that sometime," Shichiro requested absently, his gaze tracing the etching on the cave wall. "It looks vaguely familiar, but I'm pretty sure I haven't seen it before. Gawain?" The Gladimon just shrugged his rounded, comical shoulders, eyeing the cavern with some wariness. He was mostly letting Takahiro and Shichiro study the symbol; his eyes were focused out on the cave around them. Covering their backs. Ever the faithful warrior. "Sire, methinks we should make this foray qui-" His suggestion was cut off as the tunnel they'd entered collapsed with a roar of dropping stone, the former exit belching dust and pebbles as they were suddenly trapped inside.
And then, of course, evil laughter. Of course. Gawain took a few steps towards the middle of the room, rotating to search everywhere, his twin sabers raised in a guard position. "Never mind m'lord. It seems trouble is in fact here."

There's a moment of total silence, before a knife comes whistling through the air, passing so close to Takahiro's face that he's left with a long white scratch near his ear. The knife disappears before it hits the cavern wall, and the shadows on the floor begin to move. Around forty feet away, they begin to rise out of the floor, coalescing into a single being. "It certainly took you long enough to get here,"Takahiro immediately raises his Digivice to scan the Digimon, "Sh-ShadowPetermon. Uh. That's all it's saying," Well. Damn. He's not sure how to react here. Takahiro relied on data to come up with his strategies, but with nothing available, his brain was...stalling. The Digimon could've killed him if it wanted to, with that throw. Hell, even Petermon hadn't been fast enough to catch the knife. And speaking of the Champion level Fairy-type Digimon, he...did not look happy, eyes narrowed at the newcomer. "What is it you want?""To win, of course. To free you from being shackled to that...pathetic human. The best way to do that is to eliminate you," And yet he didn't kill him when he had the chance. Could he be... showboating? Yeah. It certainly seemed like it. "If you want to harm Takahiro, you're going to have to go through me first," Petermon draws his own blade, readying himself for an inevitable fight. Unfortunately, ShadowPetermon strikes first, "As you wish. Nightmare Fantasia," A sound like rending metal tears through the area, freezing any Digimon who hear it in place! He seems to have very similar powers to Petermon. Which...makes him quite dangerous.

The knife was so fast, its trajectory so shocking that Shichiro's hand had only just begun to dip into his pocket for his digivice when it hissed by Taka. He and Gawain were stunned into silence as the ShadowPetermon coalesced and stated its twisted goals. When it mentioned Takahiro, Shichiro's blood ran cold. It was clear this thing was dangerous. Murderous. They would never let that happen. "Gawain," he prompted in a whisper.
Gawain surged forward, a little armored ball of fury... "Nightmare Fantasia," ...and then he was a frozen statue, dropping on its face as its limbs locked up. Well... that's embarrassing. Shichi hissed, his expression a little fearful as he regarded the dark reflection of Petermon. His... oh. Oh, now he gets it. Cute.

"Nightmare Masquerade,"
ShadowPetermon seems to flicker, almost, and then disappears entirely. Within a few short seconds, Gawain has been struck multiple times by the Champion Digimon's blade. He returns to his original spot after the attack, readying himself to go after Petermon next. Unfortunately, his green counterpart is frozen in place by Nightmare Fantasia as well.
Takahiro takes a deep breath, trying to force down the part of him that's panicking as he takes a step back. Petermon and Gawain won't be able to hold out long, but maybe there's something he can do to help. He examines their surroundings again, and is led back to that bizarre marking on the wall. Hopefully Shichiro knows better than to come investigate. Someone needs to keep their eyes on the Digimon, after all.

Gawain took the attack stoically, but that might have been because he was frozen in place and couldn't have flinched if he wanted to. Not that he would. Probably. The Chessmon did groan at the strike, prompting Shichiro to take a step towards his paralyzed partner before realizing he was about as safe from ShadowPetermon as Gawain was. Instead he mirrored Takahiro's movements a little, backpedaling some so he was still closer to the fight but positioned directly between the younger boy and the murderous digimon. Falling into something that could have been a fencer's pose, Shichiro raised his digivice and thumbed a control, generating a translucent white hard-light shield that hovered in front of him centered on the device. It would at least provide them a modicum of protection.
"Do what you need to Taka," he said with the smallest tremor in his voice. He really, really hoped they weren't about to die. "I'll give you a little cover and we'll try to keep him distracted." As distracting as a frozen Gladimon could be, anyway.

ShadowPetermon calls out the name of an attack again, striking both Petermon and Gladimon dozens of times in the blink of an eye. He is...incredibly fast, more than Petermon, even. And that's saying something. Jeez. The two must be cut to ribbons by now. Takahiro closes his eyes as he studies the symbol on the wall. Why was he led here? It had to be for a reason. Unfortunately, ShadowPetermon was going to make solving that particular riddle difficult. Once he was through disabling the other two, chances were that he'd come after Shichiro and Takahiro himself... Not knowing what else to do, he reaches out and touches the symbol, which begins to glow with a cool green light, causing the teen to jerk his hand back. Wait. Why was he afraid? This is why he'd come here, right? Probably. Leap of faith time. He presses his hand flat against the rock. A slab of rock peels away from the wall and shrinks down, hovering in mid-air and revealing...a hidden chamber behind it. Three items within it start to glow, and lift off, orbiting Takahiro. A pair of bizarre egg-like items, and something that looks vaguely like a necklace. The necklace drops over his head, as the shrunken down piece of rock suddenly becomes metallic in nature, and slides inside. The two eggs continue to orbit Takahiro, who is vaguely aware that there are other items inside the hollow. No time for that now, though. "...Petermon!"
He sees his partner hit the floor and rushes over, sliding on his knees as he sees ShadowPetermon approaching again. There's a moment of overwhelming fear, followed by one of serenity, and then determination, "G-Get away!" His fist lights up with his green Digisoul, as one of the eggs begins to shine with the same light.
"Petermon Armor Digivolve to..." Ooh! New things are happening. Petermon drifts back to his feet as a white egg-shaped cocoon of energy surrounds him. A red star-like symbol burns on the cocoon as Petermon's body grows to seven, eight, almost nine feet in height. He hunches over as his hair grows into a mane, and his muscles expand grotesquely. Bones jut out of his shoulders, and a long tail develops just as the egg shatters, "MaaaadLeomon," Looks like he has the spotlight right now. " Fist of the Undead King!" MadLeomon raises an arm and fires a violet energy construct of a roaring lion's head directly at ShadowPetermon. It barely clips him, sadly, but his eyes narrow as he realizes that the game is changing somewhat. "You aren't the only one who can evolve. Tinkermon, to me,"A small portal opens directly above ShadowPetermon as he raises a hand. From the other side, girlish laughter can be heard, before a small red bipedal Digimon is kicked through, right into ShadowPetermon's hand, "DigiXros," ...What. The little red dragon-man seems to be sucked inside of the Dark Fairy Digimon. Spikes grow on the back of his head, as his fingers fuse together into three larger, clawed ones, and a large microphone-like staff appears in his hand from seemingly nowhere.

Those last hits were all Gladimon could take. With a pained grunt, Gawain was cocooned in a net of glowing digicode that revealed a shaken PawnChessmon as it dissipated. At the very least he seemed free of the paralysis, stumbling back to join Shichiro still half-crouched behind his hard-light shield. "M'lord, we must come to their aid," Gawain insisted with a groan as he shambled over. Shichiro just shook his head, lips pressed into a thin line. Expression filled with tension and concern for his boyfriend, the older boy clearly didn't like this course of action he was committed to.
"I don't think so, Gawain. This is their fight, and you can barely stand. I don't think we'd be helping, right now. We'll step in if we have to.. but not before."
Behind them, something glinted gold in the almost-empty alcove. Almost like it was responding to the older boy's words.

"Nightmare Damashii," ShadowPetermon's whisper seems to carry, and is followed by an out-of-tune screeching guitar, which shatters rocks all around MadLeomon and sends the Lion sprawling backwards. He manages to get to his feet, but it's a struggle. He's clearly quite strong, but not on...whatever this thing is...ShadowPetermon x2, ShoutowPetermon, whoever. Not on its level. There's a moment of silence as the dust clears, and then Takahiro becomes the center of attention. The Digisoul glowing around his hand expands, and surrounds his entire body in a glowing green aura of light. When he speaks, his usual nervous, stammering tone is gone, replaced by a much steadier voice, "Petermon," His partner reverts to his standard form, and nods at his human partner, as the new pendant around his neck begins to shine brightly, "Let's end this," He takes a deep breath, pulling his Digivice IC back out, and placing a hand atop it as the words 'Perfect Evolution' appear on the screen, " Digisoul, Full Charge!"Petermon becomes sealed inside another energy cocoon. His body stretches a little, up to around seven feet as his clothing changes somewhat radically. His sword disappears from his hand, replaced by a large scythe-like weapon inside. "Petermon Digivolve to..." There's a maniacal laughing coming from inside the cocoon in the seconds before it shatters, "Jokermon," What...a truly blood-chilling grin. Unfortunately, Takahiro's minor speech impediment returns as he checks the Digivice's data on Jokermon, his Digisoul glow dying away as he does so, "J-Jokermon, Ultimate-Level Virus Attribute Digimon. His corrupt data allows him to perform ph-physical feats that would cripple other Digimon," Not exactly helpful. He steps forwards with that smile locked in place. ShadowPetermon seems...uncertain of what to make of this development. "Lunatic Slash! AAAAHAHAHAHAAA!" The scythe blade lights up with violet light as Jokermon's body bends in an improbable way, almost doubling over backwards before he springs back up. He swings his scythe with such force that he spins around two or three times like an out-of-control helicopter. He laughs the whole time. The hit sends ShadowPetermon flying, crashing into one of the light-bearing crystals and shattering it. Jokermon...just...continues to laugh.

The digivolution was... stunning. Also, a little unsettling. Shichiro care for the look of his boyfriend's digivolved partner only slightly more than he did of their enemy, whatever ShadowPetermon was now. At least Jokermon was on their side. The laughing seemed to rattle even Gawain, he took a step back towards the alcove. That was really unsettling. Shichiro threw a worried glance Takahiro's way, hoping the boy's partner would end this quickly. The sooner they were all safe, the better. Also they wouldn't need the scary murder-clown anymore.
Speaking of, damn. That looked like it hurt. ShadowPetermon went flying back into one of the crystal formations, shattering it and throwing shards everywhere. Shichiro immediately saw the problem this presented, and took several long steps towards Takahiro's back. He threw a hand around the boy's waist from behind and yanked him to his left, spinning to bring his right arm up towards the battle and dragging them both into a crouch. The hard-light shield flashed as razor-sharp shards of crystal fell around them and bounced off it. That would have hurt.
"Looks like rain," Shichiro quipped. What better way to deal with gut-wrenching terror?

Takahiro doesn't seem to really notice the quip, "Thanks," He wriggles free and moves back around so he can see Pe--Jokermon more clearly, "J-Jokermon, end it, quickly," he commands. He's relieved when he sees Jokermon turn his gaze on Takahiro and nod. The clown steps into the shadows where ShadowPetermon had been thrown after the crystal had shattered.
There's a bizarre moment when only the clown's eyes and teeth are visible in the pitch blackness, before they fade as well. "Symphony of Destruction!". There's a whistling sound, as Jokermon's scythe cuts through the air, followed by a loud 'boom' as the blade impacts the ground. A large area around Jokermon is illuminated with blood-red light, which ShadowPetermon seems to be caught in. Fast-paced, discordant violin music starts to play throughout the cavern as ShadowPetermon seems to convulse, and then appears to be repeatedly struck by...nothing? The music?
And then like that, it's all over. The music stops and the light fades as ShadowPetermon is thrown clear of the shadows and back into the light. He starts to melt away, "You have not...seen the last of...me," And then he's gone, just like that, in an explosion of cliché. All that's left behind is the injured little red Dragon.
Takahiro races over and places a hand on the ground just next to it as he scans it with his Digivice, "Sh-Shoutmon, Rookie-Level Dragon Man Digimon, from th-the Nature Spirits family. Weirdly," is all he offers, not finding the attack data relevant. Jokermon steps up behind Takahiro, still grinning as his scythe glints in the light.
"Blood Moon," An orb of red light forms in his hand. He throws it high into the air, where it begins to emit rays in which PawnChessmon is bathed. The injuries start to rapidly disappear from the strange little Knight Digimon's body.
"E-Everyone else alright?" Taka calls over his shoulder.
