Joseph had been on his way back to his Uncle's place after a short day at work, before he decided to walk for a while instead of taking the train home. The day itself wasn't anything special, and the 4 hours at the restaurant seemed to fly by as very little customers came in, and for the most part he just cleaned parts of the kitchen in attempt to relieve boredom. As he wondered the streets in the general direction of his destination, the man soon found himself walking near a familiar river-bed, one that some coworkers had sent him to see in hopes to trick him. A small smile found its way to his face and Joseph changed his path and began to walk along-side the river as glimpses of it popped out from between the buildings that lined it's path.
It wouldn't take long for him to come across a bridge that crossed over the river, and as Joseph got to the middle of the bridge, he would turn and lean on the hand rails and look out over the murky, dirty water. There was many different sights in Japan that could make one's head spin a bit, but this was one of the more peaceful, if not sobering views in the country. It was a big part of the city, but for some reason it always looked so dirty and almost like one of those sights that was over-looked or ignored by many locals. It gave Joseph a bit of peace though, and the man just stood there, leaning on the hand rails, staring blankly across the sludge and grime.

It was around Noon when Joseph had begun to stare blankly out over the river, but now a clock somewhere rang out signifying that he had stood here for two hours. The music stirred Joseph from his daze and the man pulled out his cell to double check the time, just to make sure the clock was correct in its ringing. Giving a small nod and a sigh, the man tapped the rail before turning to continue on his way, only for a strange sound to give him pause. Standing still and ignoring the small trickle of people passing by behind him, Joseph strained his ears to hear the sound once again. He was about to give up on waiting for the sound again, when he heard it again and this time it was a little louder, but he couldn't quite make out what it was.
Standing there with a mystified look on his face, Joseph looked for the source of the sound, looking around him to see if someone was pulling a joke on him, but no one was paying him much mind. Joseph couldn't help but feel like whatever the noise was, it was probably the most important thing he did this day, but he just couldn't figure out what was happening. Looking back over the river, Joseph strained his ears just enough to hear the sound once again, and the sound was even louder once more, and this time, he was certain whatever the sound was. Something was quietly calling out for him, calling out for help, and no one else seemed to hear it.

The cry for him and for help was louder this time, and Joseph looked around a bit rapidly, hearing the voice from somewhere below. Looking around, Joseph moved to the edge of the bridge and looked down over the edge, hearing the voice once more, as if coming from beneath the bridge. Looking on either side of the bridge, Joseph saw a small area that he could climb down and he made his way over to it as quickly as he could. He slid down the sides of the dried canal and stood on the small concrete ledge and looked over to beneath the bridge. He heard the cry once more, and he carefully made his way over to under the bridge, looking for the source of the cries but seeing nothing but water and trash. "... Hello? Are you there?" He called out, his voice echoing a bit.
A small flash of light appeared in the middle of the water, and the cry seemed to come straight from the now glowing light, and Joseph stared at it, a bit unsure about what to do next. After a moment of hesitation, Joseph took off his bag and put it on the ground next to the water and lowered himself into the water. He shivered with the cold and disgust at the water, before moving toward the light, the water stopping a bit above his knee. Looking at the light, Joseph leaned down and reached into the water, grabbing at the light only for his hands to close upon a strange solid shape. Pulling it out from the water, Joseph stared at the object in his hands, the large egg strange and a little cold to the touch. Below him, the light slowly diminished and disappeared, and Joseph moved back to the edge of the river and carefully climbed out of the water.
Sitting on the edge of the river, Joseph held the egg in his lap with one hand, looking over it and examining it somewhat. It was a strange green and cream colored swirl, and it was cold in his hands but getting warming the longer he held it. From within the egg he heard what he could only really consider to be a sigh of relief, and he used his shirt to wipe it clean and dry, before shivering a little bit himself. "Huh... alright then... let's get you home and warm... whatever you are..." Joseph said, picking his bag up and pulling out his scarf, wrapping it around the egg and managing to climb back up out of the river bed.
"I'm all wet now... and probably don't smell too good.." He added, looking at his pants with a bit of disgust.
