Ever since the Digimental Hunt in the jungle, Dorimon was unable to Digivolve past his In-Training level. This somewhat irked Juro, so he had all but set Dorimon aside in order to train Monodramon. This had eventually lead them to the Spartan Training Grounds, where Juro and Monodramon had been training for several days. Today's opponent was no slouch. One of the areas best fighters, a Champion level Digimon by the name of Apemon, was set to challenge Juro and Monodramon. Dorimon sat on the sidelines, somewhat disappointed that Juro was moving on without him.
"All right," Juro said. "Don't screw this up, Monodramon."
Monodramon didn't say anything back to his Tamer after such a rude comment. He wished that his Tamer could see what was really going on, and that the fact that Dorimon couldn't Digivolve was his fault.
Apemon wasted no time in starting the match. Out of nowhere, he took his Mega Bone Stick off his back and started swinging mercilessly at Monodramon, who was doing all he could to dodge. Eventually, Monodramon managed to get a Beat Knuckle in on the Apemon, but it did nothing due to the difference in their level.
"Digi-Armor, Energize!" Juro shouted.
But nothing happened. Monodramon didn't Digivolve into Pteranomon like he had before. Juro didn't understand. That was supposed to be part of Monodramon's code now. Amid the confusion, Apemon smacked Monodramon square in the torso with his bone stick, knocking the poor Rookie out completely. To make matters worse, he devolved back into Hopmon, further proving his defeat.
"No!" Juro grunted. "I can't believe this. Not you too, Hopmon!"
"Juro, you're pushing us too hard," Hopmon said, on the verge of tears. "We want to be strong for you, but you have to recognize that we have our needs, too. This relationship is a two-way street, and if you close the road, then neither direction works, you know!"
"He's right," Dorimon agreed, trying his hardest not to cry. "Juro, we're you're friends! Not just your tools to use for fighting."
It was like Juro had just woken up from a bad dream. He realized what he was doing to his poor Digimon, and right there on the training field, he broke. He grabbed the little guys and held them close, tears flooding down his face. "I'm so sorry," he blubbered. "I don't know what came over me. I betrayed your trust, and I don't know how you guys could ever forgive me." From that point on, it would be quite some time until Hopmon and Dorimon were able to Digivolve again, but Juro decided that his relationship with his Digimon would take priority over their physical strength.
