MEMES [MPC 33 — Digital Harvest|Birthday Bash] [Squire]

Sometimes, Yuu was too obvious. When she told her to do anything but to remain at their flat today, it was a pretty dead giveaway about her preparing a birthday surprise to her. And that made her super happy! The fact that somebody who seemed to be really businesslike and serious like her partner remembering something as trivial as this made her feel special, in a sense.
So, how was she burning her time? Well, that had an easy answer, of course! She was seizing the fact that right now, there was a festival going on in Terminus. Apparently, the harvest had been plentiful or something of the like and that was enough of a reason for the digimons and humans living in here to celebrate.
She was currently strolling by the many streets the city had, donning her holosuited form for good measure. Why she was wearing it? Well, she kinda felt comfortable in it, in all honesty. She could also be Sistermon or Cho-Hakkaimon to a similar effect, but those forms were too... elaborate, she guessed? She preferred to just don simple clothes and to not to carry any weapons if she could. Maybe not the best of options when there could be danger in here, but it wasn't as if she couldn't evolve in a pinch if needed.
The atmosphere was... really pleasant, in all honesty. The happiness was contagious, and soon enough, the digimon found herself pondering about what she'd do in this place. Maybe try the games? Or what about some of the food? She was sure that most of it would be delicious, even though she wondered if she would be able to find some beer. She had bits to spare for sure, but finding a selling point was the problem.
Oh well, she'll have to do with stuff like root beer, she guessed... or even wine! Wine came from trees, so it'd make sense for them to have it.
Hopefully she wasn't getting her hopes up for nothing. Finding just grape juice would be such a letdown.
The only way to know was searching.

Mission start.
Objective: Keep Kyo distracted until it was time.
So apparently, in her infinite wisdom, Yuu had decided to assign Squire with the single most important mission of the day. Keeping Kyo entertained enough that she wouldn't choose to return to the base. Unfortunately, Yuu had chosen to give him this mission after Kyo had gone off. Which meant Squire had to chase her tracks all the way to Terminus.
If nothing else, at least Kyo had gone ahead and made his job easier. The Harvest Festival was in full swing, stalls filled to the brim with the fruits of every farmer's yearly efforts filling the streets. Digimon of all ages and sizes crowded the walkways as well, moving about and generally enjoying themselves. Among all these big digimon, it would normally been hard to find a small puppy.
Luckily, said small puppy stuck out like a sore thumb with a hologram of a human slapped on top of her real looks. Snickering to himself softly, Squire took a moment to observe the digimon. Meeting her had, for all intents and purposes, completely changed his life. He had gone from just an apprentice to an adventurer. He had a job now; a single friend and a bunch of acquaintances to exchange brief words with.
Okay, so maybe he wasn't doing all that great in the friendship department. But at least he had one honest to good friendship. And when he thought about it... he had never really thanked her for it. Sure, she had practically kidnapped him to get him into the group, but it had all turned out to be the best, and he loved his time around her and the group. Maybe he should let her know that.
Gentle hands suddenly moved over Kyo's eyes, blocking her sight. Behind her, Squire snickered softly, hoping in the back of his mind she didn't decide to flip out on her 'assailant'. He wasn't usually one for these playful games. But they tended to be right up the puppy's alley, so he could comply and play nice for her.
"Guess who?" He mumbled softly. His grin could frankly be heard in his tone. He had tried his best deep voice impression there; he doubted Kyo would fall for it for even a second.

Her gaze darted on every corner of the festival, searching for the promised destination, but instead... not finding anything. Seriously she wouldn't find anything in this place? Man, that'd be a disappointment.
Wait, wait! Was that a brewery!? From the corner of her sight, Kyo thought she saw it! Before she could, a pair of intruding hands obstructed her vision. Oh, she totally knew what was happening.
"Oh, this is a game, isn't it! I know it, I know it! You're... the ice-cream man, aren't you?" Wait, that didn't make sense. This was a Harvest Festival, so ice-cream being a thing in here didn't make sense at a place like this. So... it had to be the second choice. "Aw, it's just Squire. Man, I was really looking forward to meeting the ice-cream man, you know? Anyhow, I guess you'll have to do."
Disappointment was obvious on the holosuited digimon's voice. She'd liked ice-cream right now so badly. Or booze. Or ice cream with Booze. Lemon Champ would be pretty good right now, actually...
"Oh, hi by the way!" She had forgotten to greet him, after all. "How've you been? Kinda weird to see you on your own. Or in this city, instead of running behind that tin can. Are you up to something? I wanna be part of that too!"
Well, so much for her to be disappointed. Kyo had found her cheeriness again, and exceptionally fast while at it. And while also forgetting what was searching for at the time time, to boot.

The ice cream man, Really? Squire resisted the urge to bonk the human costumed puppy in the head. Taking a deep breath while rolling his eyes, he waited for her to try again. Of course, his name was next, sounded out dismissively. Was she trying to piss him off?
"Why am I friends with you again." Asked the Squire in half jest, annoyance in his tone as he moved his hands away from her eyes. Putting them on his hips, he leaned his weight on one leg. "This is a Harvest festival, fool. There's no Ice cream mon. The best you can hope for is the Sweet Corn man." He informed her, moving his arms to cross them over his chest. Ice-cream man, sheesh. She had done that on purpose, he was sure.
"And Hello to you too. I'll have you know I now have official permission to come and go as I please." He finally replied with an eye roll, pouting at her words. He then grinned, blowing a raspberry at her. "Master figured you would just keep kidnapping me anyways. So he decided to let me come and go as I please." He said, grinning humorously. For once Kyo's nonsense worked in his favor regarding his master.
So long as he sent him a letter at the end of the month anyways. The Old knight was such a mom! Honestly, he was surprised his reaction to all the kidnappings was to just give up and let him roam around. All the old man knew about Kyo was that she was a BlackPlotmon/BlackGaogamon that came and went to kidnap his protege. As far as he knew, he could just skewer the kidnapper.
Squire wasn't sharp enough to realize his master had seen the surprisingly good influence his outings with the crazy dog lady were.
"So yeah, I've been pretty great." That was an understatement. He was feeling peachy at the moment! He gave the Plotmon another grin, winking. "I'm here on a very important mission, actually." Keeping her occupied and having fun. But she didn't need to know the details.
"Can't tell ya anything about it, though. Top secret stuff." He said causally, looking away. "See ya later, Kyo!" But of course, this was Kyo. She would most definitely not let it end like that.

Well, not her fault that she thought that Squire was the ice-cream man. Hadn't the city been in a festival, she'd probably had insisted on that thought. But, since ice-cream seemed to be a really unlikely possibility in a situation like this, she had to go with the second most obvious choice.
"I know this is a harvest festival, but I thought you still were on the tin can's clutches. You know, curfew and that silly stuff. Glad that you finally got rid of that, though. It was beginning to be really bothersome!"
It was funny, in all honesty. While she was the digimon with a tamer, she could have bet that Squire had a harder time with the obligations his "master" pushed on him. Well, what could she say; in all honesty, she wouldn't be able to tolerate being deprived of her freedom, so there was that. If she was ever presented with the choice of being Yuu's partnered digimon or being "solo" with someone as the Dukemon as master, she'd have chosen partnership every time. Not much of a choice there.
Going back into topic, she quirked an eyebrow at the mention of him being in an important mission. That was interesting, in all honesty. Really interesting! Maybe she could tag around? She wanted to tag around.
"Ooh~! That sounds really interesting, Squire." She stared down to him, curiosity shining through her eyes. "But why can't you tell me? I wanna know what's it about? Tell me, pretty please~?"
Curiosity had evidently gotten the better of her at this stage, but that happening to the Plotmon wasn't something overly strange. A lot of things tried her curiosity in an every day basis.
Wait, wait, Squire was going away? She wouldn't have any of that! Nobody with an interesting secret escaped from her.
"Wait up! At least can I help you with it? I wanna help!"

Squire simply stuck his tongue at her. "Nope! This is my super duper secret mission!" He informed her, playfully puffing his chest as he walked towards one of the many stands. "One Sweet corn, please! Oh, wait." He looked over his shoulder, tilting his head slightly. "You want one, Kyo? My treat." He offered, still grinning. A minute or so later, he was back to walking around the festival, munching on his corn.
"Where was I?" He wondered out loud, looking up as if in ponder before his face lighted up. "Oh yeah! Can't let ya know, sorry." He said, both sounding and looking rather unapologetic as he did. Honestly, leading the little puppy around was almost too easy. Curious as she was, he was surprised she hadn't gotten herself killed before. He guessed she lucked out in being a dog instead of a cat. "Oh hey, what's that!" He suddenly uttered, walking ahead towards one of the many 'attractions of the festival.
It was a simple, almost stereotypical stand. 3 rows of stands were in the walls, multiple plushies and toys of different sizes propped upon them as prizes. On a table at the end of the stall, there were three stacks of cans perfectly arranged , waiting for the next contestant to bring them down. The stall owner was a fishy looking mon, his grin wide and his eyes twinkling as he chatted with Squire.
"Oh! Sounds easy enough!" Suddenly uttered Squire, before turning on his heel to face Kyo. He grinned, showing her his hand. He held in it a single ball, which he chucked from hand to hand somewhat deftly. He waggled his brows at her, leaning down. He put his hand over the side of his mouth, muttering conspiratorially to Kyo. "This sucker will give us a toy of our pick for taking down a stack of cans!" He grinned widely at her.
"Wanna go run him out of his business?" He suddenly produced 4 more balls from behind his back, winking. He quickly threw three her way, before moving to take place at the stand. Still grinning, the young dragon pulled back his arm, lining up the shot before swinging wildly! The ball soared towards the stack of cans almost like a bullet! It slammed into them soundly, the sound echoing around them as it bashed into them... And then forcefully rebounded.
Squire stared blankly. "What."
A stack of cans had repelled his ball? "What?!" he repeated. He suddenly leaned over the counter. "What the heck, that ain't possible!" He protested to the owner. The owner simply shrugged giving him another grin.
This guy was trying to cheat him!

Little Kyo was too hype about Squire's secret mission. She followed him like a lapdog as she went through the festival, towards who knew where. Oh wait, she was already kind of a dog, but well... guess that just proved the point? Anyhow...
She forcefully returned to reality once Squire offered her corn. Her eyes widened; she was a dog, after all. She loved food!
"Sure! I'd love one!" That definitely hadn't taken much convincing, if any. She munched into her treat with gusto, it was really good! Well, that was kinda obvious, since they were on a festival, but still.
She continued to follow Squire around, almost wondering where he'd go or if he'd ever tell her what was his secret mission. Kyo was so hype about it! Maybe he was going to save the world or something of the like? What if he was going to prevent the sabotage of the festival. What if...
He was going towards one of the games! The Veemon stood just in front of one of the many stands, the one that was about throwing balls and getting to hit piles of cans. It came without saying that the Plotmon loved anything that involved manual dexterity, and especially anything that involved throwing and/or shooting stuff.
She didn't listen to what Squire and the digimon in charge of the stand were talking about, but a gigantic smile made its way towards her face when she was handed not one, not two, but three balls!
"Sure. I love to throw balls!"
She was going to have so much fun. Especially when she saw Squire falling so hard at taking down one of the piles. The confident smile on her face could already be seen. She could already see why the shot had failed, and now that she thought about it, she had a brilliant idea.
"Nah, it isn't a cheating. You just don't have enough knowledge of ballistics! See? That's why you shouldn't only use that sword-thing you always carry to do your stuff. Now, lookie!"
She went towards the throwing spot and visualized her objective as she felt the rubber ball's texture on her fingers as she stored the two spares she had in one of her pocket. Concentrating for some good three seconds, she lined the shot, prepared her throwing arm and... threw!
One wouldn't believe that was a rubber ball given how fast it was going. And funnily enough, it wasn't directed towards the center of the can pile, but... at its base. When it collided, the surface where they currently stood was blown up due to the impact, sending the still intact pile crashing into the ground. Obviously, the cans had been glued to each other and to the surface, so the solution had been pretty simple!
"See? It was really easy!" Kyo said smugly as she observed her handiwork, right before directing her gaze towards the stand's owner. "Now, I think I should get at least toys plushies, unless you want me to do the same with the other two piles? I don't wanna ruin the stand that much!"
She made a gesture to Squire, as if telling him to pick them up.
"Losers first!" She could also blow raspberries, and seized that moment to that to him.

"Stop bragging. You only knew to do that because you saw me fail in the first place." He rebuked her bluntly, before propping himself over the counter. "And that is cheating, dumdum. The game isn't supposed to be rigged." He said, grabbing the collar of the seller and yanking him down to eye level, eyes narrowed. The man had much to explain. Squire didn't like cheating. Specifically, he didn't like to be cheated.
Needless to say, when they finally left, they were carrying the two largest plushes from the stand.
Achievement Unlocked: A lesson in Sincerity. [+2 Honesty]
"It wasn't a competition, squirt!" He argued to the as he shifted the large plush in his arms; he had gotten a Monzaemon. Not an actual Monzaemon, though it certainly looked legit. "The guy was cheating people; if you had gone first, you've failed too!" And nothing the little dog said would change his mind.Truly acting his age, Squire quickly sped ahead, blowing a rasp berry at her as he made a beeline towards the next interesting Stand.
At least, he would have, if the curious smell of sugar hadn't suddenly wafted underneath his snout. He grind to a sudden stop, his little horn twitching slightly as it took in the scent. The small dragon suddenly had his snout up in the air much like a dog, sniffing for the curious, yet delicious smell. Suddenly, he broke into a run, turning around quickly and gesturing to the little doggy to keep up. "Over here! I smelled something awesome!" He assured her, grinning as he quickly made his way around the streets.
He weaved and dodged around the mass of digimon before coming to a stop in front of a single adult digimon, who stood in front of a... rotating bowl?
Squire didn't know what he was staring at. But, he was mesmerized by the deft movements of the champ digimon, who grinned at him and Kyo before suddenly dipping two stick in the spinning bowl, rolling it around inside the machine. Slowly, a pink substance seemed to coat the sticks, making Squire gasp. They smell was even stronger on these!
"What... are those?" He wondered out loud, tilting his head to the side curiously.
"Oi, kiddo, not from 'round heah ah ya? 'tis be Cotton lolly! Yer in for a treat, kiddos!"
The guy had the weirdest accent Squire had ever run across, but he promised a treat, so Squire just grinned and took the cotton candies in his hands. Smiling wide, he turned towards Kyo, holding one of the treats towards her. "Never had these before. They don't sell these at the golden city! How 'boutcha? You tried this before?" He asked curiously, staring at the cotton while licking his lips.
Eager to try the treat, he opened his mouth wide took a good bite off the candy.
Holy! That's some SUGAR! Squire practically vibrated in place as he stared at the treat in wonder, his lips stretched wide in a grin as he gave the treat another bite, and another, and another. His master almost never let him have sugary treats, and this one was quite the sweet thing.
Almost beginning to bounce, Squire grabbed Kyo's free hand, beginning to tug her towards another tent, his eyes jumping around wildly. "Oh, let's go to that one now!" He said as he broke into a run towards another game stall, this one having Large Water guns set for the players. At the end of the stall, there were some kind of fish dolls with 'o' shaped mouths, just waiting to be filled to burst. The prizes for these particular game were similar to the others, though the plushes were Deep Savers Digimon Themed instead.
"Oh, Oh! Look at that one!" He suddenly spoke Squire, who had propped himself over the counter and startled the stall owner. He was pointing wildly at a (relatively) massive plush of a KingWhamon, set as the grand prize for whoever managed to fill all three blow up fishes with only one Water load. "I want it, I want it!"

Kyo just waved off Squire's comments. It was obvious that she had won! And that he was the loser; no way around that. Still, she followed him through his path towards the next stand. He seemed to be particularly goofy right now, something... strange about him. What did he have in mind?
Oh, it was just cotton candy. Now that the Plotmon thought about it... Squire was behaving strangely. Maybe... just maybe!
"Wait!" She stared at him directly, a fierce expression on her eyes. "You... you!" She immediately undid the hold Squire had on her hand, a horrified expression taking on her holographic face.
"You aren't Squire!" Either he was a poor impersonator or somebody had drugged Squire with something akin to a sugar rush. In any case, this was just plain wrong. Super plain wrong, in fact.
What if he was... somebody who wanted to kidnap her? This was just too suspicious. Squire wasn't as happy or hyper, neither he seemed to be the kind that wanted a Whamon plushy. And there was only one thing she could do about it.
Dashing madly in a certain direction, of course. She didn't have anything to do with posers or impostors. Those were the worst kinds of people around, after all.
Now, she just had to reach her house and probably don't come out until that strange digimon left her alone. Looking back at that, that had been... quite scary, in all honesty. After all... if that guy hadn't been Squire nor the ice-cream man, who was? Kyo could've sworn that it was one or the other, but she had been mistaken.
Maybe she was getting old?

"What?" Was all Squire could manage before the puppy had blasted her way down the street, running away. What the heck. He wasn't Squire? What was she on about now? Had she been drinking again or something? No, he would have seen her.
Wait. If she wasn't there... Who the heck was going to win the KingWhamon plush for him? "Oh no!" He suddenly gasped, his eyes growing wide. Immediately he broke into a mad dash behind the puppy, his face set into the most grim visage of determination. He was not going to leave this festival without that plushie. He needed that plushie. Or so said the sugar running through him.
If Kyo so much as glanced over his shoulder, she would see a terrifying sight. A small, cute dragon throwing just about everything that got in his way ten meters in the air. Stall? Air. Rookie digimon? Air. Champion digimon? Air. It didn't matter what it was, if it got in his way, it was thrown. His eyes were deadly serious, not the ones of someone chasing you to make you earn them a plushie at all.
"You are not getting away!" Until you get me a plushie, he forgot to add. His feet all but tore at the streets beneath him, pushing him forward at incredible speeds. His sugar rush was allowing him stupidity power ups. Such strength was not meant to last. But regardless, Squire was determined to make her get the plushie for him. Kyo would not escape him.
"Kyoooo!"

Kyo ran, and she ran fast. It was funny how not even on her higher evolutions, she had an amazing speed. Soon enough, she went through the distance that separated her from the place where Yuu was supposed to be right now.
If she remembered correctly, it was an old house? Not like she had much time to think; not-Squire seemed to be awfully bent on giving her chase, and that could only be associated to further insanity on the digimon's stead. But that wouldn't be a problem once she was in a safe place, right?
Soon enough, she was at the door, the thing that donned the appearance of a Veemon still hot in pursuit, looking as if he wouldn't give up anytime. Not missing a beat, Kyo opened it and entered, finding herself in what she guessed was a living room's utter darkness.
"Why it's so dark? Yuu? You here?" What if... that evil digimon had kidnapped Yuu? Oh, that'd be awful! Well, at least until the lights turned one, revealing a decorated room full of digimons that over them had a large sign that said on bold letters "HAPPY BIRTHDAY KYO!!!"
For the time being, she couldn't but stare in surprise, mouth agape and no visible reaction just now.

Kyo had amazing speed, but Squire had amazing amounts of Sugar running through his data stream. It was no contest. His feet tore at the ground as he closed on Kyo, possibly spooking her as he chased her like a manic boogeyman. Kyo was obviously not intent on getting caught, but the supposed fake was bent on capturing her, it seemed. His expression was wide eyed, contorted in what appeared to be mindless rage, but was actually incredible effort.
"KYOOO!" Let's level for a minute here. For the curious ones, no, Squire had not forgotten his mission. And no, Sugar did not cause him to act like a complete derange lunatic. At least, not this much of a deranged lunatic. His plan had been to keep Kyo distracted with the games, hoping his more cheery disposition under the effects of sugar made kept her entertained. When she ran away though, he swiftly changed tactics.
It was a little early, but Yuu was known to stick to be rather efficient. So he was hoping that she had finished already, because he was giving Kyo race all the way back to the base. Which was a considerable distance. He was very glad he could not feel fatigue, because this was the kind of trek that destroyed the spirits of lesser mons. Luckily, Squire was, if nothing else, a Mon with steel plated willpower.
Soon, he had managed to literally chase the fastest digimon he knew from Terminus City to Whitewater. He felt rather amazing about that. The door was thrown open by the doggy, and immediately darkness covered her. At this point, Squire stopped his running, coming to a grinding stop directly in front of the door.
"Three, two, one..." He muttered absentmindedly before the house exploded into a blast of screams, Happy birthdays being screamed at Kyo at the top of everyone's lungs. He wondered if her canine ears would be sensible to such screaming as he walked around the home, entering through the backdoor.
He could already feel the sugar crash coming to him, ready to bludgeon his brain like a truck slamming into jello. He barely made it to the living room where everyone was congratulating Kyo, walking to be besides Yuu, his hand on his stomach, his expression constipated.
"M- Mission accomplished." He muttered to her, giving her a shaky thumbs up, before his cheeks bulged and his hands clapped over his mouth, his feet quickly rushing to the bathroom to dump all the crap he had eaten that day.

But that didn't last for long enough! The smiles and cheers got to the digimon in no time, and before she could realize it, she was already greeting the crowd gathered there.
"Thank you, guys!"
Meanwhile, Yuu just stared at Squire with an amused expression. He had completed his job, but that seemed to have taken its toll on him. A sugary toll.
["Man, I've seen digimons in a deplorable state, but you're probs among the worst I've seen."] She signed, a small smile on her face. She was about to get him something, but... seemed that nature was probably stronger than anything she could say. So, instead, she decided to accompany the dragon to the bathroom.
["Scratch that. Maybe you're the worst I've seen. Just... what did you have today? Too many candies are bad for your tummy, you know."] She placed the blister pack and a note on top of one of the many drawers. Deciding to leave the digimon to his devices for now. Seeing someone vomiting wasn't among her hobbies, after all.
If you need something else, just tell me, okay? You did an awesome job. Thank you very much.
Now, back into the party itself, it was time to enjoy themselves. Yuu was glad that everything had gone somewhat smoothly, and even if this was just a small token of appreciation to her partner, she couldn't but smile when she saw the crowd partying. [Exit Thread] Bits for the two jobs, please.
