Legendary Treasure Hunter Takara Kureha has a problem. Okay, so he has a multitude of problems. For one, common sense: Lack thereof. The problem that actually matters right now, however, is plainly and simply a lack of money. To be fair, it's pretty ridiculous that Takara has lasted as long as he has without running into money troubles. He did run away from home to live in a trash heap, after all!
Somehow, you'd expect someone who calls themself a Legendary Treasure Hunter to have no money troubles whatsoever. If he finds enough treasures to earn the term Legendary, how can he possibly not have found enough money to be super-duper rich!? Obviously such a person must be lying about their aptitude as a treasure hunter. So when the clearly broke Takara Kureha showed up in town professing to be a skilled treasure hunter, it was only to be expected that the local Digimon just sorta shrugged him off.
"I still do not understand why we only take a small portion of the treasure we find. It simply makes no logical sense. We wouldn't be in this position if it weren't for that." The speaker was Takara's Digimon partner, who, it seemed, had still not managed to learn thebasics of following Takara Kureha. Expecting him to make sense, or listen to reason? Still, in a rare display, Takara Kureha actually took the time to explain. "Well, see- If we take all of the treasure, then won't the next person to make it there feel disappointed? An empty treasure room would be so very disappointing to find. All I need, really, is enough money to last until the next hunt!" It was an explanation that made a sort of sense, maybe. There was still one big hole in the theory, though.
"If that's the case, then why are you out of money...?"
This time, however, Takara didn't bother to respond. He was busy hunting down potential clients. "Come on, there's no way there isn't a good adventure around here! I can smell it on the wind!" Unfortunately, between Takara's appearance, and his being a human... It didn't seem anyone was willing to point him towards the gold he was certain could be found somewhere in these islands.

Upcoming Archaeological star Squire-Veemon was very happy that day. He had spent days and nights in a self imposed exile into the great library of White Water city. Why, you may ask? Simple. He was in a quest... for adventure! But he was no fool! Only fools waited for adventure to reach them. A true adventurer went out looking for adventure! And a smart one did it in a sure fire way.
So he had gone to the library. The vast library of Whitewater City contained record on nearly every important happening that ever occurred within the digital world. Most importantly though, if you dug around for long enough, you eventually hit gold. In Squire's case he had hit gold, big time . In the form of a map. Oh, and the scroll that came along with it.
It was a map to a pirate treasure. It was silly, he knew. This was the kind of thing he would usually hear in children's stories. But hey, children's stories had to originate from somewhere. Apparently, the map could lead whoever was gutsy (and lucky) enough to get through the dangerous waters to the tomb of AncientHookmon, the legendary Pirate. It was hidden deep inside a maze, supposedly cursed by the legendary Mega level digimon's own spirit.
Squire didn't believe in all that ghost nonsense. But he was all too willing to believe the maze was there. Which meant there was a dungeon out there for him to explore, plunder, and get rich off. Squire took what he found and was proud that he did; as a member of team P.R.O.F.I.T., all operations done under the team's name and with the team's funding were to be exclusively in the name of, well, monetary profit.
So excited by this plan as he was, Squire had neglected to pay attention to the road, instead letting his feet carry him automatically to the harbor. He kept his attention instead on the map in front of him, eyes sharp. It was a very complex map, drawn in a very archaic style, with ancient digimonji instructions written around it.
Ability & Talents check: Journeymon: Pass. [Knowledge +3]
However, Squire's training and studies, both as a traveler and as an archaeologist allowed him to comprehend the map that would have otherwise befuddled other digimon and humans.
Unfortunately, this still didn't change the fact that was not paying attention to the road. The young dragon suddenly bumped into... something soft. Being a rather tough, armored digimon, it was the equivalent of a walking brick wall slapping into a soft fleshbag's underbelly.
"Huh?" Blinked the Veemon, looking up from his map to see his accidental victim.

To assume that Legendary Treasure Hunter Takara Kureha would simply stand still and allow himself to be bumped into, one must clearly not understand what a Legendary Treasure Hunter does. Would Takara Kureha have survived this long if he was unaware of a spike-filled pit opening beneath his feet? Nay! To be a Legendary Treasure Hunter, one must not only be able to react when a trap is sprung, but before it is sprung! And with observational skills honed through years of finding shiny object in literal trash heaps, Takara does not shame his self-proclaimed title.
It was rather boring, really. He just casually stepped to the side, letting the Digimon pass. That should have been the end of it, both going their separate ways... However, as previously mentioned, Takara has eyes which would make a hawk jealous. The mere glimpse of the treasure map in the armored Digimon's hands had him whirling around.
Say... Is that a treasure map you've got there!?" Takara's voice was nothing but genuine excitement and curiousity. A map! A genuine map! Even if it wasn't a map, it didn't matter, because it was a map! Yeah, Takara's not big on the whole logic thing. He's already decided that it's a treasure map, so even if it turns out to be the bad drawing of some kid's best friend's little sister, Takara would still believe it's a map!
Ah, where are my manners." Takara steps back to give the map-bearer some space. "I'm Takara Kureha, a Treasure Hunter. I've been... Rather adventure-starved, of late, so I may have overreacted at the sight of a potential lead."
Hagurumon stared blankly. Who was this human, and what had they done with Takara Kureha!? Not only did he leave off the "Legendary" from his name, but he was speaking calmly, and even apologetically! Was he that desperate for a chance to go out and find some treasure for quick cash? It would be out of character, but then... So was everything about what Takara had just said!
Hagurumon is, of course, completely wrong. It's just another case of Takara Logic. The Digimon is holding a treasure map, therefore the Digimon is a Treasure Hunter. As a fellow Treasure Hunter, can Takara possibly show anything but the utmost respect? Of course not! As such, other than one slip of his true over-enthusiastic nature, Takara has no intention of overstepping his bounds.

As Takara had so skillfully evade Squire's absentminded tackle, the small dragon hadn't even realized he had almost bumped into someone. As such, he continued onward, oblivious. Well, he would have. If Takara hadn't suddenly spoken right next to him.
"Yggdrasil!" Yelped the young dragon, slapping the map shut between his palms before looking over his shoulder wildly. He needed to stop getting distracted like that. His core felt ready to burst! Wait, this wasn't his fault. Who the heck just suddenly asked starting questions to someone they didn't know in the middle of the street?
Oh, it was a human. Figures.
Deep breathes, Squire. Deep breaths. Just remember, not all humans are bad. Or so said Kyo. Not all humans were huge bastards who forced their digimon to fight for their messed up ideals and goals. Or so said Kyo. Kyo said it, so there had to be at least a small spec of truth to it.
[+3 Friendship.]
'Where indeed.' he thought flatly as the human apologized, launching into a quick introduction of himself. A treasure hunter? Potential lead? He didn't know if he liked where this was going. His lip curled slightly, his hand moving to scratch at his scalp, a habit of his while in thought. Well, if nothing else, politeness dictated he also introduced himself.
"Well met, Takara Kureha." He said; he was in the habit of calling most humans by their full name. As digimon called each other by their full name, he had assumed the same applied to humans. "My name is Squire-Veemon, and yes, this is indeed, a 'treasure map'." I am currently en-route to the harbor, to acquire a ship with a crew to escort me to the marked island."
He had been as forward and honest as he could be. He already knew where this was going. Or he thought he did anyways. The human would probably tag along. They tended to do that, specially the 'good ones'. Squire wasn't too sure what to say, however. The expedition was being financed by P.R.O.F.I.T.'s own vaults, so he had to not only make sure it succeeded, but also that the vast majority of the riches went into said organization's vault.

Takara Kureha, Legendary Treasure Hunter, listened with great intent. His curiousity was, indeed, piqued. Of course, being Takara Kureha, he could not simply reveal that, no. A Legendary Treasure Hunter must have standards! They must not nip desperately at every last hint of adventure! He decided to consult his agent. With a flourish, he whirled back over to Hagurumon, leaned over, and began whispering to the gear.
"... You know, it doesn't mean anything if you just say, 'Whisper, whisper' in a quiet tone." Hagurumon says, destroying Takara's image.
"Tch"
Undeterred by this, Takara whirls back over to Squire-Veemon. "Ignoring him, I may have just what you need. This here," Takara whips out a small chip with what is clearly a Drimogemon emblazoned upon it, "Is the wrong one." He causually puts the chip back and pulls out a second one, with the whale Digimon known as Whamon on it. "This nifty little thing here can summon a great sea beast, perfect for ferrying treasure and those who found it."
Hopefully Squire-Veemon wasn't opposed to the idea of Digimon Slave Labor. Takara's never been known to pay a fair wage to his unfortunate partners. Strangely, they don't seem to mind. Heck, Hagurumon even seems to like how he's treated. Pervert.
"What's more, unlike those ships in the harbor, my crew doesn't need payment. Not to mention, none of them know the first thing about treasure hunting!" It might seem like he's just trying to convince Squire that there's no point in shopping around, but there is a distinct bitterness in his voice as he says it. A bitterness which implies, 'I should know, I've been trying to get them to work with me for days!'

The small dragon tilted a brow as the human suddenly whirled away, apparently needing to speak to his... partner. He had looked rather eager to jump into Squire's little quest before, so this was a bit strange.
Of course, the 'legendary' treasure hunter's partner quickly broke the illusion with a few blunt words.
Squire stared at the pair for a second, his expression blank. Were these guys treasure hunters, or a comedians? They didn't look much like adventurers, even if the human looked like he had spent most of his life in a dumpster.
Squire did his best to remain impassive as the human whirled towards him once again, not quite sure of what to expect now.
"What... I need?" He asked, tilting his head.
He stared with slight curiosity at the small chip the human produced from... somewhere, the image of a Drimogemon emblazoned upon it interesting him slightly. Still...
Knowledge + Purity Check = Pass.
"I'm sorry. It's cool and all, but I don't collect medals." He preferred artifacts and ancient trinkets.
[+3 Purity]
And then Takara produced the actual medal. But still, "I really ain't interested in medals, Mr. Kureha." He explained flatly. Of course, Takara hadn't been trying to sell him a medal.
"'Summon' a great 'sea beast'? I know what a Whamon is, Mr. Kureha." He said with pursed lips, tilting his head to the side as he leaned close to observe the medal. How did such a little trinket 'summon' such a large digimon?
He pursed his lips, looking at the tamer through narrowed eyes. Why did this guy want to accompany him so much? He kept sweetening the deal, too. Honestly, it was almost too good to be true. Suspicious, suspicious... Maybe he should lose this guy.
Knowledge Check = Failed.s
'Bah, who cares? It's a free ride and an escort all in one. He's probably one of those 'nice human's Kyo spoke about.' Foolish young dragon. He knew not just to what he was subjecting himself. Looking up uncertaingly at the tamer, he smiled nervously.
[+1 Knowledge]
"Well... That does sound like a very good deal." He conceded, nodding. "Okay, I accept!" He said, holding out his hand towards the human. "We are leaving right now, tho." he immediately told the human. He had been about to leave before he got interrupted, and he had no plans of rescheduling.

Takara shrugged. "What can I say, I have a flair for the dramatic." That was, of course, the understatement of the week.
Regardless, his proposal had been accepted. Hagurumon simply hovered about in the air, admiring the naivety of the poor armored V-mon. He could warn him, of course, but what satisfaction would he get from that? Besides, as Takara loves to say- The more, the merrier! Or, from Hagurumon's sense of self preservation, the same line only with the word 'meatshields' added between "more" and ",".
"Works for me. I've got everything I need, right here." Takara pats the rather overflowing satchel at his side, filled with all his worldly possessions. "Without further ado, then... To the docks!" Even Takara Kureha was no so foolish as to summon a whale in the middle of the city.
Not without a really silly reason, at least.
Presuming that his new, temporary ally would him in his relocation, the human set about locating a most appropriate location. An empty dock, with deep enough water to summon a massive creature such as Whamon. For the sake of moving the story along, the search didn't take long.
"Digichip, slot in! Execute! Whamon, reload!" With the requisite overly-dramatic posing, Takara Kureha united the chip he had shown to SquireVeemon with the Xros Loader he pulled out of his satchel. A burst of light, and the ultimate* sea transport was released.
"Well, if it isn't Takara Kureha. Been some time, hasn't it! Last time I saw you was when... You called me out beneath the desert, wasn't it?" Whamon reminisces, loudly. Takara doesn't seem to notice. "Worked like a charm, too. Now open up, we've got treasure to hunt!"
Whamon laughed at this, but he left his mouth open and near the dock, to let his partner board. "Oh, and say hello to Squire-Veemon. He's the one with the map, we're just helping him out."
In response, a deep voice wells up from the belly of the beast. "Nice to meet you," Whamon says, as Takara descends within the maw, followed shortly by Hagurumon.

"I noticed." said Squire bluntly. Walking past the human, grinning. He had a free ride, and a free couple of meatshields. So far, so good! And since it was not a ship, there was no wait time for preparations. Everything was going perfectly.
The small dragon nodded graciously at Takara's (Kureha's? Whatever. Human names made no sense anyways) words, letting the human lead the way towards the docks. Feeling around his pouches, he nodded to himself. He had everything he needed. ]
Once they found an empty dock, Takara set to work. The little dragon's eyes widened just slightly as a massive Whamon was summoned in the dock, plopping into the water soundly. He had been expecting the Whamon. He was not entirely sure why the entire spectacle was impressive. Perhaps it was the fact that a massive whale digimon had been produced out of nowhere.
"Impressive." He commended the Whamon, before bowing in response to the greeting. He didn't know what story there was to summoning a massive fish like digimon in the desert. But he would give props to the Whamon for managing their objective anyways. "A pleasure, Mr. Whamon." He had been taught to always be cordial... with digimon anyways. It was also always good to remain in the good side of your talking, living transport, too.
He followed the rest of them into the maw of the whale digimon, glad his greaves doubled as boots.
Unfortunately, he couldn't really see crap of where they were going while inside the Whamon. Was he supposed to guide him through speak? Well, not the hardest thing he had ever done, though he would have preferred to actually be outside to get a good idea of where they were going.
Reaching into his pocket, he produced a compass. He would have to rely on this.
"I just have to tell him in which direction to go, I assume?" Or was there more to this?

As the trio entered, the great maw closed behind them. The darkness lasted for a split second, as a trail of lights brightened the way. Following this bright trail would lead to a large chamber, metallic, and free of slime and goo. Certainly more comfortable than where the other passageways lead. It would be wise to follow it, as Takara does. From the looks of it, you wouldn't believe this is the first time he's actually been inside on screen!
Reaching this cabin, a small hand gesture causes a pair of metal chairs to rise from the floor. Whamon is nothing if not accommodating. It's best not to worry too much about "How" and just enjoy not having to sit for the entire sea voyage. Takara took his seat, and motioned for Squire to take the other. Hagurumon didn't get a chair, of course. That would just be silly!
"Of course, Whamon can hear everything we say in here. Just say the word and we can get going, towards adventure! Speaking of which... Whamon, if you please?" Prompted by Takara's words, a large section of the wall before them would flip, revealing what looked like a large TV screen. Upon it was shown a grand view of... The Whitewater Docks, exactly as Whamon was seeing them. The implication was that this would allow the passengers to see where they were going.
Takara sat back and rummaged through his pouch for a bit. "Mission, start!" the boy called, as he pulled out some unidentifiable pink goop. How he keeps it from getting it on everything is a mystery to all. The fact that he doesn't offer any to his companions is, frankly, probably for the best. It's not even clear that the stuff is edible.

A control room was not what Squire had been expecting. Whamon hadn't appeared to posses any mechanical upgrades from the outside, so these was all very surprising. Still, he guessed he should have seen it coming; digimon weren't exactly known for being normal.
Squire tried to not feel too awkward as he took a seat besides Takara, unsure if he should get a seat while Hagurumon just floated idly. The machine digimon didn't protest though.
Apparently, Whamon could grant them his full range of vision in incredible HD resolution. Not that it would help them much once they were out in the sea and all they could see was blue and darkness, but he guessed it was nice to have a semblance of an idea of which direction they were going.
Pulling out his compass and glancing down towards the map, Squire took a second to analyze everything before nodding towards Takara. They could do this.
"Setting out!" He said, grinning as he shouted out a set of coordinates and a cardinal direction to Whamon. The reason for this vagueness has absolutely nothing to do with the author's lack of knowledge on Naval navigation, no sir!
Their goal was not anywhere near the coasts of Whitewater, so they were all in for quite the long trip. An hour into their journey, more than a few hundred kilometers traversed, still nowhere near close to their destination. In retrospective, they probably should have stocked on some food. The journey could very well take them more than a single day.
Just as Squire moved to communicate this unfortunate development to Takara, a sudden, mighty roar echoed around them, distorted by the masses of water.
In the distance, a single Seadramon seemed to be moving in the opposite direction to them, huge amounts of cargo secured to his body. A carrier of sort, it appeared. He didn't seem to be looking directly at them, mostly having his eyes on his path, though he would inevitably pass by them as they moved forward.
It was very possible there was food in that cargo.
Well! Nothing to do about that, they would just have to deal with the consequences of their lack of foresight.
Right?

Takara takes another bite of unidentified gloop. How much of that stuff does he have? Why doesn't it cover everything in that magical toolbag he carries by his side? Doesn't it need refrigeration? Is it even safe for consumption!? Hagurumon's personal theory is that the stuff grows back as quickly as Takara eats it. An utterly ridiculous theory, of course, given that Hagurumon helped make the stuff... But there are still so many questions about it, and this trip is quite unnecessarily boring!
Suddenly, a shape appeared in the distance. A large, serpentine form, followed by some large mass. "Aha!" Takara exclaims. "The first of the treasure's guardian's appears! This must be some treasure, to warrant a protector so soon!" There is probably something wrong about that statement. Then again, Takara Kureha is the treasure hunter here, not I. "Sir, I believe that..." Hagurumon begins to say something, but gives up halfway through. There is a dangerous gleam in Takara's eyes, one that demands nothing short of unquestioning obedience.
"It's go time!" Takara shouts in gratuitous English as he pulls out the mysterious device known as the Xros Loader. "Fusion!" Hagurumon had just enough time to muse, 'When did Takara learn English, anyways?' before the magic happened.
The most obvious change was that the room, no that the entire Digimon they were within had begun to shrink drastically. The chairs they were in rearranged themselves, such that Takara sat in front of Squire. A pedestal rose before Takara, which Hagurumon found the middle gear of his body fused to. He couldn't complain. It was far from the worst Takara had subjected him too.
The screens which had displayed the outside now wrapped around the top of the suddenly rounded room. By now, it was likely clear that somehow, Whamon and Hagurumon had fused into Submarimon... Not that Takara knew that name, or cared. After all, the new window made the exterior changes quite obvious- Especially the giant harpoon which had sprouted from the nose.
Finally, the two smaller gears which were attached to Hagurumon's main body detached from it, floating freely in the air off to the side. Takara didn't need to be told twice what this meant, as he grabbed the gears, his fingers lying between the spokes. "Here we go!" he shouted, as he twisted the gears sharply. Amazingly, this did exactly as was intended, as the engines roared to life and Submarimon shot forward.
"No oversized snake will stand between us and our destination!" Takara didn't much care about the pallet the creature carried. Even if it had treasure in it, it was treasure with a living owner. Taking it would be like stealing! There was a code of honor that separated Treasure Hunters from common thieves, after all. Even if the sea monster was the guardian of a treasure, that didn't give Takara the right to mug him for a different treasure.
"Let's go! Evasive maneuvers!"

Upon request, this thread is available for grading by Bone's authority.
Takara needed 150 sentences, and wrote approx. 160. Squire needed 100 sentences, and wrote approx. 160.
Good job, you two. Carry on when you're ready! I've awarded you both 10,000 bits for doing a career, and participating in the other's career as well. Takara is now also now authorized to use BladeKuwagamon.
(Since Bread is part of PROFIT, 10% of the total he earned goes into the vault, so 1,000 bits.)

... Treasure Guardian?
"Wait, wha- Whow- WHOAH!" Shouted Squire as their Whamon carriage suddenly began to shine around them, turning the entire place in what appeared to be a vast blank for a couple of seconds. Suddenly, Squire could perceive the blank seemingly beginning to enclose them, the shining seats in which they resided shifting underneath them. Squire's digits sunk into his seat, almost cracking the white thing as he gritted his teeth, eyes wide.
What even was the reason for all of this?!
Squire found himself in a Submarimon controlled by a deranged human. Not a position anyone would have envied, he imagined.
"Wait Wait WAIT!" Squire held onto his seat as Submarimon all but blasted forward, closing the distance between them and the Seadramon courier swiftly. The Seadramon seemed to lazily shift its gaze towards them before its eyes grew wide and it released...not a roar, but a surprised yelp, it's voice sharp and high as it dove down just as Takara pulled his 'evasive maneuvers'.
One went up, the other went down, and a confrontation that wouldn't have even happened was successfully averted. Meanwhile, inside the cockpit, Squire's core beat like a drum in his chest, the little dragon nearly melting on the seat in relief.
"Oh Thank Yggdrasil..." He moaned softly, pressing his head against the cool class. This was his first time out in the sea, never mind in a submarine. It was packing way too much action for his comfort. He had never actually swum before, so he had no idea how he would do if this happened to be his first time.

The rest of the journey was, in fact, boringly dull. No more Digimon appeared, and Takara did not leap off on any tangential sidequests. What's more, the Submarimon mode was significantly faster! Thus begging the question, why didn't they just use it from the beginning?
Forgetting that little detail, Takara deftly piloted the submarine through open water and dense kelp forests, until the party reached their goal- An undersea cavern that formed a pocket of air. See, for all the madness, it was fortunate to have travelled with Team Takara! Did any of those captains have a submarine small enough to reach this cave? I do not think so!
As soon as the cockpit opens in the musty air, Takara leaps forth onto the ground. His fall raises a cloud of dust that leaves the Legendary Treasure Hunter coughing, however, he grins as if that is a good thing. "This much dust... We're definitely the first ones here! Huzzah!" That was a good thing. He waited for his temporary companion to leave their vessel, before waving his Xros Loader towards it. A flash of light, and Whamon was sucked back into the Digivice while Hagurumon was left floating in the air.
"Well, that was certainly different." Hagurumon comments regarding the experience of being fused to another Digimon. It was a weird feeling, but not altogether disagreeable- Though, he would like to compare notes with Whamon. It did not seem that such a thing would happen soon, however.
The party is met with their first real challenge. From the underwater entrance, there are three exits, each identical save for location. Takara Kureha doesn't seem concerned. He strides to the first door, and takes a long look around. Then he stoops to the floor, wipes some dust off with a finger, sniffs it, and licks it, before promptly spitting it out. He repeats this for the other two doors.
"I admit that it looks strange, but do allow me to assure you that he knows what he is doing. Despite his personal faults, I have yet to encounter a more dedicated... Or should I say, single minded individual, towards the art of hunting for treasures." As if to prove his point, Takara concludes his inspection. "This way." he declares, pointing towards the first door. He doesn't explain how he came to this conclusion, however.
"Do watch out for the flamethrowers, though." Takara calls back, as he swiftly walks through and the hallway behind him is bathed in flames. If it wasn't for the fact that once they clear up, he is visible through the flames, his demise may have been presumed.
Deep in the maze, an ancient being stirs. "So... More foolhardy adventurers seek my gold. Let them come."

"'kay." Responded Squire blandly at Hagurumon's assurances, observing with a none too subtle tilted brow as Takara licked the centuries old dust off his fingers.
Gross.
Once the human was done with... whatever that was, Squire had half a second to ask just why did he think that path was the correct one before a mass of flames seemingly consumed the young man, stopping any questions the young dragon may have in their tracks.
"... Are humans fire-proof?" He asked as he turned his gaze towards the mechanic Digimon, wondering if there was any logic to the casual way the human strolled into a trap he had known was there. Unfortunately, as soon as the blazes cleared, Takara Kureha's, Legendary Treasure Hunter™, untouched silhouette became apparent. Well, if nothing else, at least his living treasure radar was intact.
Squire chose to simply imitate Takara, in a sense. The floor cracked under the little dragon as he pushed off in a hurry, tearing across the hallway as the flames blasted behind him full power before coming to a grinding stop next to Takara, the core in his chest pulsing fast. Even though he had been pretty sure he could cross the trap untouched (if a human could, so could he!), just feeling the heat of the blaze behind him had made his heart beat faster.
As his breath swiftly evened, the little dragon turned his gaze towards the human, brow still tilted. "Um... Why exactly are we going with this particular path, again?" Asked the little dragon, lips pursed. It didn't look any different from any of the other 2 to him. Then again, he hadn't licked the floor yet.
