Another cooking contest? Jeez, Ayaka didn't know if Mana was lucky or unlucky for this. This has been the second time ever she had been selected for this kind of stuff, and while this one was mostly a random happenstance, it was still something that could potentially end not so well. Well, at least last time it had been a pretty fun experience, and hopefully this time around it'll be too.
"Miss." She said, her tone low. "Are you sure you want to partake in this? It's not too late to turn back... I mean. We can always go back later."
Of course, her voice would be silenced soon enough. Suzuran, as somebody totally alien to the girl's first experience, was totally oblivious to the possible consequences.
"Stop whining so much, sister. You will end up wrinkled and old if you keep on with that act. What is the worst outcome this can have? You are worrying too much."
Famous last words, if Aya had heard them. Still, Mana seemed have become emboldened by the other Kodamon's words. And now, she seemed more determined than ever.
"Suzu's right, Aya!" The cheerfulness in her voice was unmistakable. "We're going to be fine! You just gotta trust that everything's gonna be okay! Just like she said, what's the worst that can happen?"
And now jinxed twice. Lovey dovey. The time for conversation was over, however; the trio, among the other participants present, were now firmly standing besides their respective kitchens just as the jury began to appear, each of their seats illuminated with reflector lights.
"Good evening, fine folk!" One of them, a Burgermon, called out. "Today, we're gathered to celebrate the fiftieth edition of our renowned cooking contest! This time, five teams composed of humans and their respective digimon partners will participate! As always, there'll be a kind of dish you'll be requested to make, and with that as guide, you'll have to innovate as much as you can within that margin. Simple, and easy!"
Taking a deep breath, he took out a sheet of paper from a box, reading it with a smile on her face.
"Oh, this one is a favorite of mine. The dish you'll have to prepare is... curry! You've one hour to prepare your dish beginning from now. Good luck!"
Ayaka sighed with some relief. Making curry was super easy, so at least Mana had a rather small margin to make horrid mistakes. That didn't mean she could lower her guard, though. If she became confident, she could already foretell that the consequences would be dire.

From her desk Katsura just stood there and watched the host saying his instructions. On her desk stood Nyao the salamon. Cooking is one of Katsura's greater strengths so it was a matter of time before she would enter a cooking contest. The day for Katsura to show her cooking skills had apparently arrived. She heard the host telling that the main ingredient is curry.
Katsura sat for a moment and looked out of a window for a moment, acting aloof. That made Nyao look worried at Katsura. "Katsura, are you okay?" Katsura woke up from her trance and met Nyao's look. "Sorry, Nyao. I spaced out for a moment. I just remembered how terrible I am." Nyao just smiled. "You're not terrible! Especially not at cooking." "Do you really think so?" Nyao nodded as answer. "Okay" Katsura said nonchalantly almost like a robot. "Fetch me some onions then." "Why?" "I have an idea for the meal." While Katsura waited for Nyao to return with the onions, she took out a long knife. Katsura stared at the knife for a long time. "A knife. Such a powerful weapon. Everyone can use it. A knife can easily kill any enemy. If you know what you're doing that is." Then Nyao returned with a bunch of onions, which Katsura gladly accepted. Katsura placed some pealed onions on her desk. She took a knife and moved so fast it was hardly visible for the eyes. Katsura started hacking them. chuk-chuk-chuk-chuk-chuk-chuk-chuk-chuk" her knife said and a minute later there was countless of chopped onions.
Katsura quickly took a pot, heated it and added some salty water. Katsura then turned to Nyao "Tell me when it boils"
Now that Katsura had some time to spare, she started to look around. On a counter not from her stood that weird girl she met on her first arrival. "That girl has problems." Katsura said. Katsura was able to see right through her self-imposed confidence. Nyao took one glance at Mana's attempt to rally her digmon. The mere look at Maia made Nyao exhausted by the moment. '

Now that everything was said and done, it was time to begin. How, though? It wasn't like Mana didn't know the intricacies of cooking curry, but shw knew for sure that she didn't know in where she should begin. She began to think, much to Ayaka's dismay, and making Suzu gaze, some entertainment finally showing on her face.
Finally, her face illuminated, with something that undeniably was an idea. This was going to be good!
"Alright! This is what we're going to do, girls." She said with confidence. "Suzu, take care of the water. Aya, take care of the vegetables. I'll... take care of the chicken. Ready? Let's go!"
Everyone got to their tasks, pretty much without a doubt. Well... in all honesty, Ayaka had her doubts but her partner seemed to be particularly centered. Who knew, maybe she was going to give her a surprise? For everyone's sakes, she really expected for that to be the case.
Meanwhile, the other participants went on on their things. The host seemed to be really excited about the whole thing, commenting all the events that transpired with genuine excitement. The crowd, meanwhile, looked as the many participants went on about their recipes. The competition was getting interesting.

Katsura didn't pay attention to Mana as she put another pot on her stove and started melting some butter in a pile of curry and cumin, she didn't use much heat through, Katsura turned to Nyao and the other pot. "How is the water doing?" Nyao looked in the pot who just started to boil, "It's ready now!". "Great" Katsura unpacked a bag of rice and placed it in the pot for later use. As the butter started to melt Katsura placed some flour and started to whisk the mixture together, once again she looked at Nyao. "Okay Nyao, I want you to slowly pour milk in my pot little by little." Nyao obliged by moving a carton of milk next to Katsura and once in a while tip it over. Every time Nyao made milk drop into the pot Katsura whisked it together, eventually there was no chunks of flour left in the pot by when Katsura stopped Nyao. Katsura turned on the heat for her pot.

Everything was going smoothly thus far. The water was already boiling and most of the vegetables were neatly chopped. Mana had to commend her partners' manual prowess, given how efficient they were.
"Onions, carrots, potatos and... an apple? Miss, are you sure you want to employ these ingredients?" Sure, Aya had initially followed her partner's instructions without doubting on the slightest, but now... she had her own doubts. If she was going to improve, she could only hope that it would be alright. Otherwise... well, as long as the recipe didn't blow up on their faces, they would be fine.
Mana, on her stead, didn't look like she was worried about the development. She irradiated a confidence that was natural to her, even when the situation at hand was not exactly her field of expertise. Whether admirable or reckless, the digimon wasn't sure.
"Don't worry about it! It's a family recipe, so some things will look a bit alien to you! It's tried and tested though, so things will be a-ok!"
Of course, Suzuran would seize that small opening to butt in. The opportunity was just too good to pass it up.
"Come on, sister. Why are you so paranoid? One Would believe that you are the one who trusts on the human the most. So... why so worried?" Of course she'd give her small round of teasing her own twist. Smirking not very innocently, she couldn't resist to add, almost whispering to the fairy's ear. "And, even if it is going to blow up, would you still try and stop her? Look at her, so happy to be doing this. Would you really ruin her fun?"
Ayaka's face grew pale at the revelation, realizing that her sister was... right. No matter how worried or how much she looked like she wanted to abandon this competition, the truth was that she couldn't bring herself to. Her emotions had her at a hold, at least regarding how she felt about her partner. Denying her a little fun after all the things they had gotten through, even though this would obviously not end in the best way felt plain unfair. She was being a hypocrite, just to look like the voice of reason, but... that was wrong? Thinking about it just for a bit, it really wasn't, and that's why Ayaka ultimately smiled. Unbeknownst to her, her sister had actually helped to her to make her mind up.
"I think you are exaggerating, dear sister. Your words could not be farther away from the truth. Now, shall we? Discussing will not get curry done, dear sister."
Despite the events that had transpired, and now with a previously worried partner now relaxed, the group went on with their cooking. Of course, Aya couldn't entirely get rid of her worrisome nature, but at least now she decided to help in a more productive (and cheerful) way. Ultimatley, the preparations were done, and while the trio's dish was far from perfect, it wasn't an entire disaster either, mostly due to the help the girl had gotten from the two digimons.
"Well, it's done." Mana finally said, a little bit triumphantly. "Wonder how we'll fare. At least I can't say I didn't have fun doing this. You two are the best pair assistants a girl could ask for."
Typical reactions. Aya smiled, Suzu frowned. Not the strangest end for a strange day, but a fitting one, the redhead guessed. [Bits, please]

Katsura took out a packet of minced pork that she placed in a bowl. In the bowl she cracked an egg and added her chopped onion in the bowl among some milk. "Now Nyao, I want you to mix these things up as fast as you can."Nyao nodded and placed her front paws in the bowl, "Petty punch!" Nyao yelled excitedly and began pouching the mixture together. The bowl couldn't handle the pressure from Nyao's beating. In a few moments the bowl was about to shatter when Katsura intervened. "I think I can take it from here." Katsura pointed at her sink by where Nyao started washing her paws. In the meantime, Katsura pulled her sleeves up. As Katsura kneaded the mixture together, she had time to think more. Katsura looked at Mana, though she won't admit it, Katsura was actually jealous at her. What drove Katsura jealous wasn't her cooking skills as much as her cheerfulness and determination. It didn't help Katsura's confidence much to see that she even knew how to interact in public. Most of the time, Katsura just reacted the way she assumed most people would do. Doing so had not given her much friends either, something she was very sad about. "I f only I had her happiness." Katsure sighed. Then Katsura stopped herself because she realized that a camera was currently looking at her. Once the ingredients was mixed together and Katsura too had washed her hands. Katsura used the time to spice up her food with salt and pepper. Katsura then formed the mixture into countless of meatballs and placed it in her pot. Katsura placed the lid and set a timer to 15 minutes, by the time it was done boiling the rice was be finished as well. Katsura prepared the rice on a plate and with a serving spoon, she added the meatballs and curry sauce that was eventually finished. Now all Katsura had to do was waiting for the judges. As Katsura was waiting, Nyao looked up to Katsura. Katsura however, just looked outside the window with her head resting in her hand. That made Nyao nervous. "What's wrong Katsura? Are you nervous for the judges?""I'm fine""Katsura...""I'm fine *sigh* really." Katsura said, however her low tone just made her even less convincing. "Please don't lie to me.""Nyao, you are the best friend, I have ever had. You know that already."Nyao nodded unsure about how this would end. "I have an confession""What is it?""You are not just my best friend. You are my only friend. Now that dad is... Gone, I'm starting to realize that nobody loved me at all."Nyao cuddled into Katsura, sensing that she needed it. Katsura responed by petting Nyao with her free hand. By now, Katsura had completly dismissed the competition. By now the camerafolks had noted that Katsura was acting all up. They tried to put the focus on Katsura expecting her to act all emotional or at least give them a commentary later on. Katsura just waved the cameramen away. "Not now, I'm not in the mood right now." Katsura sighed, "I wonder who won though."
