*A few months ago, in a smallish apartment on the outskirts of Whitewater*
The pan on the stove sizzled quietly while Paul worked on preparing the vegetables to stir fry. Since the last failed dinner attempt, Paul had been yearning for a chance to try cooking Japanese-style food again. This time though, instead of a full spread, he was only going for the fried pork cutlets and some vegetables along with a batch of steamed rice. He had considered trying the fried rice recipe he had found online, but it seemed quite involved and for a simple meal with just him and Bi, it didn’t really seem necessary.
A bit of music played in the background to stave off the silence in the apartment. The link to the Human World had been severed and since their exile from Terminus, Paul and Bi had made Whitewater their new home. The few friends they had made were off doing god knows what, and there was no way to contact friends and family back home. It made for lonely going to say the least.
“Paul! I’m home!” Bi’s voice called out as the door clicked open.
“Hey Bi, welcome back, dinner’ll be ready soon,” Paul answered, surprised that she was back already from the marketplace. She hadn’t really told him when to expect her, but he figured that whatever she needed to get would take longer than just an hour or two. Still, this worked well, dinner was just about ready, and he disliked having to keep things warm while waiting. To him the flavor wasn’t quite as good as getting to eat it freshly prepared.
His ears caught the sound of the door to the kitchen sliding open but no words. Odd, Bi was normally more—
Hands wrapped around his waist, pulling his against a chest that was surprisingly ample. Paul’s mind nearly imploded, trying to figure out exactly what was happening. Okay, fact one, there was a female standing behind him. Fact two, he had heard Bi and no one else enter the apartment. So that left two possible options. One, Bi brought another human girl home with her and that strange girl was now pressing herself against him. Unfortunately that didn’t seem likely. Bi didn’t really like Paul talking to other women, let alone finding one, bringing her here, and letting her hug Paul.
Which left the other option that the hands and chest belonged to Bi. That seemed impossible though. She was a short golden bird, not a human woman. However, that still was still the more probable option.
“Um… Bi?” he managed to say, fighting through the chaos that currently occupied his mind.
A pair of lips nuzzled at the back of his neck, sending shivers down his spine. “Yes, Paul?” the voice that Paul recognized as belonging to Bi said from right behind him.
So this was definitely Bi. But how was she doing it? The holosuit! Suddenly Paul remembered the conversation he had on the beach with Darian and Gabe a while back. They said that Digimon could look human with the help of one of these, but they neglected to mention how tangible these things could feel apparently.
“So I take it shopping went well?” Paul said, his voice wavering a bit as he tried to stay calm. It had been a while since he had been pressed this close to a female in general, and many months of not getting laid were starting to eat away at him.
“Mmm I think so. Tell me, what do you think?” she whispered in his ear, her light breath tickling him a bit.
He gulped. “Well, it seems nice enough from this angle. Can’t really see it though.”
A small kiss pressed against the side of his neck. “Why don’t you turn around then?”
“Uh, about that…” he trailed off weakly, trying to think of a way to defuse this situation. His mind was still trying to play catch up. So Bi had bought a holosuit. A very attractive holosuit from the few clues he had gathered so far. He understood the logic behind getting one in general. It would make life easier for them moving around the human world, when it was hopefully reconnected at least. And it made sense for her to want to pick one that was at least somewhat appealing to the eye. Why she currently had her arms around him, kissing and teasing his neck escaped him though. In his experience, there was only one motivation for women to do this, and surely Bi couldn’t be intending…
Then the pieces began to fall into place. The times that Bi had been mad at him for talking about another woman, the sulkiness she showed when he was so interested in Enya, her intense desire to keep him from going on dates with other women… it had all been in front of him the whole time. He had kept writing it off just as a quirk of hers and being possessive of him as a friend and nothing more. Surely a Digimon couldn’t actually fall in love with a human. He hadn’t even considered the possibility, but if that were true…
“Bi… you—“
Suddenly the arms pulled on him, and his body spun around to face Bi’s. Before he had a chance to say anything more, lips were pushed against his, conveying to him the sense of desperate passion, something he had never tasted before. His eyes closed, he kissed back, pulling Bi’s body closer to his own.
