As you’d expect from a dive like this one, it was filled to the brim with rather unsavory Digimon of all shapes and sizes. Not to mention that the bar itself was a run down and dirty mess of old furniture, junk, and dust with the odd pile of empty bottles and shards of smashed glass every so often. Lissa moved silently through the bar, head firmly staring at the dirt strewn floor as to avoid eye contact with anyone. Her body cloaked by a long black robe and a hood shielded her face from view.
It was definitely a dangerous place to be as proved when she was almost caught in the middle of a bar fight between a boisterous rabbit-like Digimon, Gazimon and the massively muscular bull, Minotaurmon. The Gazimon was quickly thrown against the wall by the powerful arm of the bull. It fell, crumpled into a pile and moved no more. As they fought, the crowd had turned and everyone was shouting them on. It must be a normal thing for a place like this.
Lissa moved further in until she reached the wooden bar. A line of stools stood in front of it, most of which were occupied with variously-sized Digimon. Each of which clutched tall smoking glasses of something in their hands. It seemed to be making them even more unruly than before. A red bodied devil creature slammed its clawed hands on the bar, leaving terrible gashes in the wood. Next to him – was a row of white rag ghosts who merely hovered over the stools and every time they drank the liquid in their glasses sank to the ground below them.
Keeping her head still down, she turned away from the bar and moved left, towards a large round table. Again, each chair around the table was packed by a different Digimon. They appeared to be playing cards and betting with a mix of shimmering multi-coloured crystals and golden coins. Lissa silently sat at the only empty chair and nodded to the dealer. An angry looking dinosaur-like Digimon with terrible curled horns. “Bet,” the dealer growled.
Lissa nodded again and put her hand into the pocket of the robe and pulled out a handful of coins and then dropped them into the pile with the rest. The dealer smirked and then dealt out five cards to her. Fortunately, she was pretty good at cards and her current hand was good enough. Speaking for the first time since entering the bar, she spoke in a strangely deep voice. “I call.” Dropping another handful of golden coins onto the pile.
Around the table, every member of the table laid down several more coins and crystals until it came to an infuriated-looking Digimon. A brown-furred bodied samurai coated in thick red armor. A long sword was sat in his lap. “No-one can beat me. I am the best player.” Several ill-tempered grumbles came at this words and some merely smirked. “If you’re the BEST. BET. NOW,” the Tuskmon growled, banging his fist against the table. The Musyamon nodded but began to fumble in a large fur pouch. “I only have these,” he said, laying down a strange item which looked like a memory stick. “It’s supposed to allow you to meet the boss of a thieves guild. If you know where to look. I was considering joining, myself. For the riches… Then I wouldn’t need to play cards.” The last few words came as an undertone.
Lissa looked up finally and unnoticed by everyone, her mouth had curled into a smirk. “I’ll do,” the Tuskmon huffed and laid down his cards. Then, the Musyamon smirked and laid down his cards. “Full House. Beat that if you dare!” The whole table grumbled and threw this cards their cards over her shoulder in anger. Everyone was now staring at Lissa. “You.”
Lissa slowly laid down her cards which revealed a royal flush. Without reacting to her victory, Lissa swept up the money and then the USB Stick-like device. The Musyamon had got to his feet and with one swoop, raised his sword and cut the table in two. “You’re cheating! You’re going to pay.” Unfortunately for him, the sword was now firmly lodged in the wood and stuck. This gave Lissa the chance she needed, she jumped and kicked the Musyamon right in the face. He fell back and crumpled, his back slamming into the hilt of the sword. “You cheated. Didn’t you.”
Without another word, Lissa moved to the open doors of the bar. The Musyamon put out a hand and caught the hem of Lissa’s cloak and wrenched it from her. “A Human?! In our bar! Get her!” came various voices from all over the bar. Lissa backed up so she was against the doors and began to fumble behind her for the exit. All of a sudden the window began to glow with a white hot glow. It exploded, leaving splinters of glass everywhere. VeeVee, already digivolved into Flamedramon jumped through the window. His gauntlets bared for battle, already red hot.
“Fire Rocket!” A spray of fire shot out from his gauntlets like small fireworks. The attack lit the wood all over the bar and spread like wildfire. It was enough, whilst everyone was busy trying to either run from the bar or put out the fire, Lissa made her escape followed by VeeVee. “Perfect timing, VeeVee – as always,” she smirked at him. “I got the key, so now let's take the fight to them!”
