"This...isn't the right train," Saburo said quietly. The boy had been with his sister, Kasumi, on their way home from school. However, the two had gotten separated by the busy crowds and Saburo managed to end up on a platform he didn't even know existed. He had gotten on the train, hoping it would take him somewhere familiar, but now he was in some giant city he didn't recognize, surrounded by hordes of strange creatures.
Weirder still was the strange egg that he had found on the train. There were two devices attached by a cord to it that looked somewhat similar to a virtual pet toy that Kasumi owned. Saburo decided to keep it and see what would happen with it.

It had been a long trip back from the Western deserts, but, at last, Sophie James and her partner Lantis had returned to the luxurious civilization that was Terminus City. Resisting the urge to kiss the cool ground, she and her Spadamon partner entered the city. Both of them were tired and sore after their adventures, but thankfully had dried long ago from their impromptu leap into an oasis pool to save a young man and his Dorumon from drowning.
While Sophie may have liked to stick around Terminus for some R & R in another world, she did kind of want to return home and finally get around to that meeting she was meant to have with her parents and her brothers. And whatever digimon partners they had afterward. It was a long term plan of Sophie's and Colin's to get their parents to accept the digimon in their home as guests. After all, with Luke and Bellamy's holosuits, they had already met their parents. Surely a conversation like that wouldn't be too hard, right?
Lantis meanwhile was starting to feel used to being partner to a human. Even though he hadn't really been prepared to be a partner to a human, well, he liked Sophie enough to want it to work. And so there the two were, giving deep breaths of relief as they sat on the bench at the Trailmon terminal platform, waiting for the next train to arrive.

Saburo slowly walked around the strange terminal, looking around for anything at all familiar. This was all a little scary to him. There were so many strange creatures that he had never seen before. Some of them were very frightening.
Finally he spotted another human sitting on a bench next to a little lion monster. "Um...excuse me," he said as he approached. "Can you help me? I think I got on the wrong train and I lost my sister and I'm scared. Where are we?" As he stood there, the egg began to crack slightly.

Sophie looked up as a kid approached. Instantly she felt compelled to help him out. "Oh, you got lost?" she asked, instantly assuming a sympathetic expression. Aw this poor kid. "You got on the wrong train, eh?" she asked, standing up and looking around for anyone that might be able to help. Seeing that there was nobody, well, she supposed that she would be in charge of this situation.
"There's no need to be scared, you're safe here" Lantis assured the boy. He saw the egg he was holding seemed to be cracking. "In fact, I think this is exactly the place you're meant to be. Take a look at the egg that you're holding".
Sophie looked too, and indeed, it seemed that the boy was about to become a digidestined. At least, that's how she thought things like this happened? What with an egg appearing in a kid's hands and then it hatching. While it had been different for her, with Lantis meeting her as a rookie level already, after talking to her more experienced younger brother, it seemed this kind of thing was more usual with new arrivals to the digital world.

Saburo was suddenly startled by the shaking and cracking of the giant egg. He almost dropped it, but before he could, it burst open to reveal two strange blob creatures that stared up at him. "Finally!" said the green one. "I was starting to wonder if you were ever going to make it here!""Wait," the brown one said, looking around nervously, "I thought there were supposed to be two of them, Gummymon...where's Kasumi?"Saburo was both amazed and shocked at these strange creatures. Not only could they talk, but they also knew his sister's name! Temporarily forgetting about everything else, he decided to attempt to talk to them. "Um...excuse me," he said, meek as always. "How do you know my sister's name?""That's because we're destined to be your partners, Saburo!" the green one explained. "My name's Gummymon, and she's Kokomon." Kokomon just nodded in agreement. Saburo was still very confused. Just then, he noticed the two electronic devices that had been attached to the egg were now just laying on the ground. There were two of them, one pink and one the same green color as Gummymon. The youngster looked over at the older girl and small lion with a confused expression. He wanted to ask what he was supposed to do, but for some reason was too nervous to speak.

Sophie and Lantis watched the egg hatch with excitement. Ah, the onward march of new life was always a wonderful one. And better still, the digimon that hatched from the egg... there were two of them! Twins!
"Ooh, that's cool. A Gummymon and Kokomon" Lantis said, identifying the young digimon right away. However, something appeared to be wrong.
"...you're expecting two humans?" Sophie asked, a little bit concerned. Ah, so these twins were meant for the boy and his sister. But they appeared to have been separated. "Oh dear..." she said, a bit awkwardly now that she understood the full extent of the problem.
"Well then, I guess the right thing to do is get you back to finding your sister" Lantis said, keeping his head cool to deal with this. "So your sister's name is Kasumi, right? And what's your name? I'm Lantis the Spadamon, and this is my partner Sophie" he introduced themselves.
"Right" Sophie said, thinking that was logical. "So then. Where did you last see your sister?" Sophie asked, hoping this would be helpful to know.

Saburo looked at the devices on the ground. There were two of them, likely one for each of the twins. They were two separate colors, one pink and one green. Well, Saburo definitely didn't want to be seen carrying around some weird pink device, so he reached down and grabbed the green one. Suddenly, as soon as he touched it with his hand, it exploded with a brilliant light. Similarly, Gummymon also began to shine. "Gummymon Digivolve to...Terriermon!"Suddenly, a strange looking bunny stood in front of Saburo. Terriermon squealed with delight and jumped into Saburo's arms. "You chose me!" he shouted happily. "I won't let you down, partner!""Um...okay," Saburo said, still sort of unsure. "Glad to hear it, I guess?"While this was going on, Kokomon decided to continue talking with Lantis and Sophie. "I think Terrerimon will want to take Saburo around the Digital World a bit," she said, knowing how adventurous her brother could be. "Meanwhile, I'll wait here for Kasumi. Don't feel obligated to help them out, though! Terriermon can...probably take care of himself?"

"Wow, I don't think I've seen a digimon evolve that quickly before" Lantis remarked, looking at the Terriermon.
"How long did it take you to evolve, Lan?" Sophie asked her partner out of interest.
"About a week" the Spadamon shrugged. As Saburo and Terriermon celebrated this wonderful occurrence, Sophie and Lantis paid attention to Kokomon, who was talking to them.
"Oh, well..." Sophie looked hesitant about going on her way when she saw three individuals here that may need assistance. Then she realized that she probably wasn't the best person to act as a mentor, especially when she had limited experience of the world herself. Still, she was 17, almost turning 18 in fact. And somehow it didn't feel right leaving a kid like this by himself in such a dangerous place.
"If Saburo feels like he can handle himself, that's fine, we'll let him be on his way" Lantis said. He looked up at Sophie, who he correctly guessed would object. "Your little brother Colin explored the world by himself and he's got mega partners already, Soph" he said. "Let the kid learn his own lessons if he wants to go about things that way".
Sophie blinked at him with a few moments of outrage that he would suggest that she leave a child alone in the digital world, but, yet, she sighed as she realized the truth of it. Colin was reluctant to tell her that he had digimon probably for the same reason, that she could be too much of an overbearing big sister. But, still, if Saburo or even Kokomon needed guidance, she'd be happy to help out.
"Well, if you're sure you're fine with being by yourselves..." she said, hesitantly.

"Um...I don't know," Saburo muttered. He truly had no idea what was going on, and this girl and her Digimon seemed very helpful.
"We'll be fine!" Terriermon confirmed confidently. "Let's go on an adventure, Saburo!" The little rabbit grabbed his new Tamer's hand and led him from the train station into the Digital World.
Kokomon sighed. "Once he gets like that, there's really no stopping him." She turned to Sophie and Lantis. "Sorry about that," she said. "If you guys came here, it means you're probably on the way back to the real world. Don't worry about Terriermon. He may seem small right now, but he can surely protect Saburo just fine!"

Well then, that settled that. Sophie grinned a little as she saw the Terriermon eager to go on an adventure.
Sophie nodded with confirmation. "Yeah, I was pretty much about to head back to Earth..." she said, then had an idea. "Oh I'll know! I'll call some digimon friends I met today. If they bump into them they can help them out". She took out her D-Terminal and sent a message to some friendly solo digimon called Brad and Owen. "There, if they're around, they'll be happy to help out Kasumi. One's a Bearmon and the other's a Gaomon, hopefully you can recognize them".
"And you take care of yourself too, Kokomon" Lantis advised the little digimon. "Terminus can be a scary place for an In-Training". But she seemed like she could handle herself fairly well.
With that done, Sophie and Lantis gave a wave at them, then made their way to the rail platform, where hopefully they could return to Earth at last.
