A gentle dusk's sunlight filtered through the window's curtains within an otherwise dim apartment room in Greater Shibuya's Housing District. Tucked into his bed, the human known as John slept peacefully underneath the navy comforter. His left arm hung over the bedside while he slept on his right side. Snuggled in the space available on the right side of the bed was his Koromon, Casimeir, who slumbered away alongside his best friend.
Resting on the wooden end table by his bed was John's digital alarm clock. Other devices laid strewn about on the surface, such as his Digivice and his cellphone. The green digital numbers computerized timekeeper read 5:59 AM. Within a matter of moments, the digits changed by one minute, and an alarm began to blare for six in the morning.
John's eyes shot open. He aimlessly flailed his left hand toward the clock's top buttons in a sad attempt to shut the annoying beeping. After his third try, the man finally managed to turn off his alarm clock, bringing silence to the room once again. The poor Koromon was now torn from his sleep as well. He rubbed his eyes with his ears during a cute yawn.
"Five more minutes," Casimeir begged groggily with drooping eyelids. "It's too early."
John rolled onto his back and then sat up on his bed, also rubbing the sleep from his eyes. "Don't you remember?" He asked. "We need to have an early start today so we can get to the Digital World and save Satoshi's Digimon." John pet the top of the Koromon's head with a soft smile on his lips.
The Digimon allowed a final, longer yawn to pass his jaws. "Oh, right," he murmured. "Well, we'd better get ready then and make sure that Satoshi's awake, too. We can't go to the Digital World without him, after all."

Satoshi was already up and in the living room. He could hardly sleep the night before. He was up most of the night just thinking about his new life as a Tamer. The Digivice sat on his desk, taunting him with the promise it brought. He also worried about his poor Digimon partner. Was it alright? The lack of sleep was a nonissue for him, though, as he was running entirely on adrenaline.
And caffeine. Lots of caffeine.

By 6:15 AM, John was finished freshening up in the bathroom. A nice hot shower helped him wake up, and his breath was nice and minty now that his teeth were brushed and flossed. Funny enough, the Koromon brushed his teeth too! He thought that just because he was a creature made of data didn't mean that he shouldn't worry about dental hygiene.
Once the partnered human's daily routine was complete, he headed back to his room to make sure he had the essentials packed in his black and blue backpack. Sketchbook, pencils, pens, first-aid kit, toiletries...He mentally checked off each item to see if anything was missing.
John pulled his backpack's straps over his arms being that he was satisfied with its contents. "Come on," he instructed Casimeir. "Let's go see if Satoshi's awake." The two of them walked to the living room to find their roommate sitting on the couch.
The man perceived that Satoshi might not have gotten a lot of sleep. "You sleep well?" he asked. "We'll need all the energy we can take if we're going on this trip."

Satoshi was a little jumpy, so he was startled when John came out to the living room. "Yeah," he said groggily. "I'll be fine, I'm just excited and nervous. Need some breakfast?" He slowly got up and stumbled into the kitchen. It was clear that he was still somewhat tired, but he would probably just take some time to adjust.
Slowly, Satoshi began to make a bowl of cereal for the three of them. "It's important that we're all well-fed and energized for our trip today!"

John and Casimeir smiled gently at the mention of breakfast. "Sure," John chirped. "I also packed a bunch of energy bars and some granola bars." He thumbed toward his backpack with that remark.
"What's cereal?" asked Casimeir with a puzzled look. The Digimon had never heard of the breakfast food. He watched in wonder during the time that Satoshi prepared each bowl for the trio.
John couldn't help but chuckle at his Koromon. "Cereal is a food made from roasted grain. Most of the time it will have sugar in it."
The partnered human walked into the kitchen area now and sat himself down at the dining table. He set Casimeir down onto the table top, who was eyeing his bowl with a great fascination. That was when John realized that the Koromon might have some trouble eating his cereal without a hand to use a spoon.
But that would not be an issue. Casimeir, being the intelligent and creative sort that he was, wrapped one of his ears around his spoon and scooped some cereal and milk into his mouth. The instant that the sugary treat hit his tastebuds, Casimeir's eyes grew wide and sparkly. He did not waste any time scarfing the rest of his food down. He couldn't get enough of it!
The display caused John to chuckle while a hint of red came to his cheeks. "Slow down! You want to take your time and enjoy it!" The man then commenced with eating his bowl of cereal. He was glad that it was Cocoa Crispies, one of his all-time favorite cereal brands.

Satoshi was impressed that the little Koromon was able to figure out how to use a spoon so quickly. He hadn't really realized that it might be hard for a little pink fluffball to eat a bowl of cereal. The man smiled as the three of them scarfed down their breakfast.
After they finished and the dishes were put away, Satoshi gathered his backpack and everything in it. "Well, are you guys ready?" He looked ready to go on a grand adventure. He held his Digivice in his hand confidently.

John stood up now from his chair and took the Koromon into his arms. The two certainly felt high morale. With his backpack still strapped to his body, John offered a bold smile. "We're ready," the Tamer assured his roommate.
It did not take long for the two humans and Casimeir to reach Central Shibuya's train terminal. The lack of people was most likely due to the early hours of the morning. Because of this, John deemed it safe to carry his Koromon in broad daylight. John always made sure to be cautious about when and where he would hide his Digimon.
The inside of the terminal was about as barren as it was in the outer world. The building was spacious, no doubt, and surprisingly immaculate for a public transportation facility. It didn't look or feel dirty like the subway stations in New York.
While John and the others entered the terminal, John was looking at the screen on his phone. He had been reading the exchange of text messages between himself and his old friend Maia. "Okay," he started as he put his phone away, "based on what Maia says, we're looking for an elevator. Keep an eye out for anything that looks out of the ordinary."

The terminal was pretty empty today, for some reason. Satoshi looked around for anything that he thought was strange. "This isn't gonna be easy," he muttered. He took out his Digivice and looked at it. "Maybe this thing would be helpful?" He fiddled with a few of the buttons, but nothing seemed to work.
As soon as he brought his head up, though, he found an elevator across the way. "Hey, John, look! I don't think I've ever seen this elevator before." Satoshi had been to the terminal countless times and had never seen this thing before. Maybe he was just unobservant, but there was something about it that seemed off to him.

John ceased his stride right as Satoshi called for his attention. His view turned to look at the elevator that his roommate just now spotted. To John, it seemed like any old elevator. But he trusted Satoshi. After all, the younger man was a local and knew the area better than he.
The Tamer walked up to the lone elevator with his friend and Digimon. "Is this it?" he inquired. While it did appear to be a normal lift, John couldn't shake the feeling that there was more than meets the eye.

He was sure of it. Satoshi had been to the Shibuya Terminal many times throughout his life and had never seen this elevator here before. A light beeping from his pocket from his new Digivice told him everything he needed to know. "This has to be," he muttered. "Let's give it a shot!" He pushed the button to open the door and walked in with John likely following behind him.
As the elevator landed at the bottom of the shaft, Satoshi exited to find a train line he had never seen before, with a strange-looking train on the track. It seemed to have eyes on the front, which Satoshi was a little creeped out by. "This seems promising," he whispered.

John and Casimeir were equally taken aback by the sight that was revealed by the elevator's doors. The mere idea of an entirely separate train line underneath an already-existing one almost blew the Tamer's mind. How could such a place even have been built without the public's knowledge?
"This place is incredible!" John noted in awe while he and his Partner stepped out into the depot. The architecture in this secret space appeared to look much more sleek and futuristic than the station above. John could have sworn that he was on the deck of a starship from one of his favorite television series!
Before the group, the layout consisted of two separate terminals, each with two adjacent railways. While there was a train-like entity residing on one of the tracks, the remaining three were vacant.
"Hey, that train is a Digimon!" Casimeir stated rather bluntly. John's brow quirked at that. Sure, the train up ahead didn't look like any ordinary locomotive that he had ever seen, but a Digimon?
"What?" asked John in surprise. But as he thought about it, the concept was sound. "Actually, that makes a lot of sense."

The doors to the train were open, so Satoshi stepped in without hesitation. "Let's get going!" he called out to his roommate and his Digimon, excited for a new adventure.
Before they could react, the doors began to close as the train made it's way slowly across the platform. Reacting quickly, Satoshi managed to keep the door open slightly and hoped that John and Casimeir would be able to hop in in time.

Neither John nor Casimeir were prepared for Satoshi's eagerness to get to the Digital World, let alone the Trailmon's impatience! Expressions of shock found their way to the pair's faces. If they didn't hurry, they would miss their ride!
"Hey! Wait up!" John demanded. He scurried after the departing train and made it to the door that Satoshi held open for them. Perhaps there wasn't a need to act as quickly as John had.
The pair squeezed through the door, now, feeling a rush of relief now that they were safely inside the train car. With their adventure now underway, the partnered human sat on the seat closest to the doors with Casimeir on his lap.
"Whew," Casimeir sighed, "we almost missed our train!"
John chuckled softly. "Yeah, that would have been terrible. Well, at least the other trains were at the station. We always could have boarded the next one and meet each other at wherever this Digimon is taking us."

Satoshi sighed with relief as John and Casimeir made it onto the train. Luckily this wasn't a total disaster right from the get go! "That was close," he muttered. "Looks like we'll be on our way to the Digital World! This is exciting!"
It would be a while before the train arrived at its destination, so Satoshi decided to lay across one of the seats and rest a bit. He hadn't slept well the night before, so he figured that now would be a great time to catch up on some sleep before he greeted the Digital World.
