Her impromptu entrance into the Digital World was marked by a rip in the air of translucent green data. The Kilvasmon leapt out and continued pushing forward, no specific destination in mind. Whether due to how long it had been or her hurry, Vika accidentally opened the portal a few feet too high off the ground and stumbled onto the pavement.
Unlike the city she had just left, Terminus onlookers barely paid her any mind. Portals weren't the most common way into the Digital World, but they were common enough. What was one more Rookie stumbling out of the air?
"Okay, Terminus. Why Terminus? Red doesn't live here." she puzzled, looking down at her D-Tector again as if expecting a response. She knew places Red had lived in Luminas and Whitewater, so those would probably be better places to start. But what if he was out somewhere? Couldn't she just message him or something?
Despite being able to quickly activate the portal, the Wind Spirit found herself having a bit of trouble navigating her Digivice. How did this thing work with two buttons again? And no touch screen? It felt so...ancient in comparison to her smartphone. There was Spirit Evolution, teleportation, the auto-translator, and even a healing program. And of course the KEY that started all this. But the closest thing she found to a messenger was for communicating with other Digivices. That wouldn't help right now.
"Looks like it's time for the old-fashioned way."
Given it's usability in everyday life, Vika already had her Infini-Storage on her. Which meant she had another important friend with her; her hoverboard. Reaching into the space of the red feather containing the impossible space, she managed to pull out her hoverboard with one Spirit-empowered hand. This was already a friend she was happy to see, and something that helped reassure her. The Kilvasmon stepped atop the stationary board hovering a few inches off the ground and took a look around. This city was as massive as she remembered, so this would require a better view.
Tapping into the Wind Spirits powers, she shot away from the ground at an angle with her Pursuit technique. The resulting wind finally got her a bit of notice from annoyed humans and Digimon around her. For a second the altitude caused her something to jump in her throat, but this faded quickly as she continued to rise. Between the high ground and her heightened Digimon eyesight, she could probably find the Hawkmon pretty quickly, right?
-----
Three hours passed as if five. The return to flight and this world was exhilarating, but Vika couldn't quite enjoy it with Red's situation on her mind. And the few other Hawkmon she found didn't help the situation since they gave her false hope. This was kind of starting to annoy her.
Another Pursuit led her down to the roof of an apartment complex. A bit back in her rhythm, she kicked off her board and almost slid as she touched down. Was he not in Terminus, or was he inside a building? Because if he was inside, this was going to take way longer. If time didn't work differently here, she might even miss track practice.
Vika was clearly off her game as she didn't notice something behind her until it landed. Definitely a bird Digimon. "Back for round two, Falcomon?" she mocked, feeling much more ready for a fight now as she turned around.
"I've dealt with enough Falcomon for this lifetime."
"Red"
Vika burst towards the JeetHawkmon standing across the roof, now holding out his wings to prevent a crash. An outstretched wing was instead taken in the Wind Spirit's hand. "You've gotten really good to sneak up on me. And to take care of those Falcomon yourself. It's been way too long! Lucky you were here."
Red couldn't help but smile at her enthusiasm. "I don't recall you being too difficult to sneak up on before. I'm glad to see you here. And I suppose it is lucky, though I'm here quite often for... Anyways, were you saying you ran into the Falcomon again?"
"Yeah, they tried to snatch my Digivice. Probably the Key again. I figured something happened to you if they found me. It's not like anyone else knows where I live." she explained, releasing the bird's wing from her grip. "You didn't run into them or anything?"
The JeetHawkmon clicked his tongue at that. "That is...curious. It's actually been peaceful here since I last saw you. I can't imagine how they would know, but it's definitely a problem. I should look-"
"We can look into it. I've got some time. And I miss this place." Vika corrected, gesturing vaguely behind her. "And you, obviously."
Red paused for a moment. "I won't argue with that. But an information leak isn't something you can kick your way through, Vika." the Champion frowned. "If someone really did get this information from me, we're going to need to investigate this quietly."
"Hey, I'm a university student now. Don't underestimate me." she scolded.
"That's true. Well this caught me a little off guard."
"Same. How about we grab something to eat and you catch me up? Let's figure out what we do know first, and go from there."
"That sounds like a plan."
