THE QUEST FOR TANELORN [MARSHAL] [CAREER]

THIS WAS THE VALLEY OF DRAGONS! Actually, Yuu wouldn't normally be here, but she was on the track of a hardened criminal. She'd been on his trail for some time now, and her latest set of clues dictated he'd be hiding somewhere inside this canyon.
Her latest set of clues being Kyo's nose, of course. "Yup, there's no doubt 'bout it! That dude's hiding somewhere in here. I jus' gotta keep on his tracks and we should be able to find him no problem!"
Despite her apparent happy-go-luckiness about the situation, Yuu trusted on her partner's instincts. Thus far, her nose has never failed them, and this wasn't going to be an exception. ["I just hope we have enough firepower to deal with this dude. He seems to be hella dangerous. And probably not alone."]
Actually... that gave her an idea! She could always request some extra firepower, and as long as they were civilians, they could even get some cool extra rewards out of this small endeavor. And thus, she opened her D-Terminal and began typing.
From: Yuu To: Marshal Dude, I'm in a bit of a predicament over here. I'm chasing this "El Desperado" dude, and he kinda got to the Valley of Dragons. I'm sure I could take him on my own, but if I stumble into some aggressive fire-breathing lizards over here, those are bound to wear me down and then I'm not all that sure of my chances. So, wanna lend me hand? I can share the bounty if you want a lil' extra incentive.

Marshal and Coronamon had taken some time traveling the desert in search of a job to do. They were both starting to get bored, and needed the activity to prepare better for the coming trip to the Dark Area with Colin. Thankfully, their prayers would soon be answered when Marshal's D-Terminal recieved a message from none other than Tsumura Yuu herself.
Marshal gasped with surprise. He hadn't heard from Yuu in months! "Coronamon, take a look!" he said excitedly. "Yuu wants us to help her chase down a criminal in the Valley of Dragons!"
Coronamon was immediately interested. "Hell yes! Let's go!" Honestly, it didn't really matter what the job was, as long as it was finally something to do. The two of them were starting to get bored out of their skulls.
Marshal summoned his motorcycle from the D-Arc and the two of them got on and sped off down the desert roads, straight towards the Valley of Dragons.
Some time later, the two had reached Yuu's location, which she had so conveniently sent along with her message. Coronamon jumped off as Marshal brought the bike to a halt and deconstructed it into his Digivice.
"Long time no see," the Tamer said, smiling coyly. He would look a bit different since the last time Yuu saw him. His hair, instead of being entirely brown, had a few stripes of orange running through it. His eyes were an even brighter green than before, and he was a few inches taller. This, of course, was due to finally mastering his Biomerge with Coronamon.

No immediate reply. Well, either Marshal was busy or...
"Do you think that he forgot to reply your message? For some reason, that doesn't strike as something too unlikely." Kyo was probably on the right in this one. Neither of the duo knew the teenager all to well, but they knew that when he got excited about something... he tended to forget about some things. Anyhow...
["We're waiting for him like, half an hour or so. If he comes, he comes. And if not... well, we'll have to deal with this on our own."] They would appreciate the backup, but the blonde wasn't really afraid of going there on her own. Call her overconfident, but she thought she could handle herself just fine.
That line of thinking ended as soon as she saw a motorcycle at the distance, Marshal and Coronamon's figures becoming painfully obvious in the distance. Good.
Yuu adjusted her sunglasses and proceeded to wave at the duo in a friendly way, just for Kyo to complete the greeting. "Heyo, Marshal, Coronamon! Yup, it's been quite a bit! We kinda disappeared for a bit, but now we're back in full force! How've you guys been?"
The blonde, on her stead, gave the duo a friendly smile, taking a bit into Marshal's slight change of look but deciding to cut to the chase anyway. ["Lookin' good, peeps. More importantly, you guys ready to hunt some criminals?"]

It was nice to see Yuu and Kyo again. The details of their last few meetings had been a little hazy, so it was time to get some concrete members with the leader of PROFIT. Marshal hadn't been learning JSL just for fun, after all! He took this as the perfect opportunity to practice what he had been learning. ["You bet! Let's take 'em down!"] His signing was a lot more fluid than it had been the last time he tried signing for Yuu, but still could use a little work. He gave the blonde a cheesy grin, hoping the gesture would be appreciated.
Coronamon, meanwhile, was all business as usual as he borderline interrogated Kyo on specifics. "What info do you have on the target?" he asked. "Are there actually multiple targets? Are they located nearby or are we going to have to search?" When it came to stuff like this, Coronamon could be kind of detail-oriented.

A confident smile graced Yuu's face at Marshal's energic response. That was what she wanted ot hear! Or see, whatever. ["That's the spirit, mate. Now let's get going."]
The towering canyon filled with giant death lizards would be intimidating for some, but this time... it'd face P.R.O.F.I.T. finest. The chances to fail were nonexistent, right? And so, they began their journey through the place, Kyo tracking the banditos' smell as she explained to Coronamon what was this all about.
"Well, this 'El Desperado Guy' seems to be a pretty hardened gunslinger that's probably... super mega level? It's supposed to be an AvengeKidmon and supposedly, he has a band of other banditos with him. They've robbed a pretty big bank on Terminus or something and now they're on the run. Of course, they immediately went after because they didn't find anyone else up for the job, so... that's why we're here." She made a small pause, seemingly picking on a trail before adding. "I'm currently trackin' them. Their supposed hideout is somewhere along this canyon, but if it hadn't been found thus far, I guess it's because it must be hidden or something. But we're going to discover them. Today."
She was hot on their trail, and even if the sight of a small dog going after what seemed like hardened criminals seemed a little funny at first glance, it was obvious that the Plotmon meant business. "By the way, the reward's higher if we bring El Desperado alive, so... there's that. I know for sure they'll aim to kill, and we can take care of his henchmen just fine, but... I guess we'll have to tread lightly with this guy."
Greed definitely was good.

Coronamon slowly nodded and followed along with Kyo's briefing. AvengeKidmon was a highly dangerous species of Digimon, so they would have to be extra careful. He decided to keep quiet so Kyo could focus on tracking down their culprit.
The Valley of Dragons was a bit of a sore spot for Marshal at this point. After nearly failing to protect someone he held dear and also being given one of his most dangerous assignments yet, he wasn't super excited to be back. Nonetheless, he followed behind and kept quiet in case enemies nearby were watching.

Seemingly, that explanation had been good enough. Kyo nodded back as they kept on walking. "Don't worry about it, though! I'm sure that between the two of us, we have enough power to blast those guys into the next week!" It wasn't like she was being overconfident or something, but she truly believed on them being nigh unstoppable now. At least against this particular ensemble of foes.
Well, if they happened to find them, that is. For now, they just had a trail to follow and a nose to lead them, at least until Kyo did. Her voice morphed into hushed whispers as she began to address everyone. "I'm picking something! We need to hide, now!"
Noticing her surroundings, the Plotmon noticed a recollection of boulders lying around some distance away from them. She gestured towards them before diving right behind them, Yuu following suit soon enough. If Marshal and Coronamon did the same, they'd notice some small tremors shaking the earth several seconds later, just for a pack of Brachiomons to enter their line of vision right afterward. Their numbers were stupid high, and chances of them facing that multitude head-on wouldn't result in anything good.
["They're stampeding, but why? Maybe it has to do with these outlaws? They're probably doing something in this place that's making the Valley's denizens uneasy. Guess it's up to us to find out what."]

Kyo seemed to be tracking the target well enough, so both Marshal and Coronamon were completely content with sitting back and letting her take care of it. After a little bit of walking, she suddenly picked up on something and dove behind some rocks. Both Marshal and Coronamon followed suit, knowing that if Kyo wanted to retreat, then they should as well.
Yuu, meanwhile, seemed to be signing something. Marshal had to take a moment to process, but eventually understood the general idea. ["Whatever they're doing, it's not good,"] he agreed. ["Let's put an end to this nonsense, eh?"]

Both human and digimon nodded at Marshal's words. If this was the handiwork of whoever was hidden within the canyon, then they had to be stopped. And they'd make sure of that.
The rampaging Brachiomons continued their mad dash across the valley for at least ten minutes, Kyo growing slightly impatient at how much they took them to run. At this point, she just wanted to get out and continue tracking those criminals.
Eventually, however, the stampeded ended and the Plotmon got out, sniffing the ground that had been flattened by the digimons and... growing puzzled at what she got. "Darn. The track's very faint now thanks to all the dirt those longnecks kicked up. This can make the whole thing a lot more difficult."
Going after a faint lead was a whole lot more difficult than just going after the previous scent, but Kyo did her best anyway; she began to advance through the canyon again, eventually ending up right in front of a cave's entrance. This is where she had been led, and probably where the gang was hidden. "Seems like we're here. I don't know what we'll find there, so... guess it's better if we plan out what we're gonna do before entering."
Despite how eager she felt to just jump in guns blazing and just give a lead injection to anything that moved inside, that was probably just too over the top.
["Well, we have some options."] Yuu began, thinking the possible strategies they could engage into. ["We can go in and attack the first thing we see, seizing the surprise factor, even if that would be pretty brutal towards us if they have any hostages or something to use against us. The other big option is to go in cautiously, risking being discovered and surprised, but overall having a stronger opener if we get to them before they notice us. Or we can try something else; any ideas?"]

Had this mission taken place earlier, Marshal would've been all for rushing in and taking names. However, now that he and Coronamon were more experienced, he realized that they had to be cautious.
"I don't doubt that we'd be okay just going in and attacking," he admitted, "but we have an opportunity to get the drop on our target. I think we need to exercise a little caution for once."
Coronamon was surprised. "I never thought I'd hear you be cautious," he scoffed. "Looks like you're finally learning something."
Marshal sighed. "I just don't want a repeat of the last time," he admitted. Both he and Coronamon would know he was talking about the mission on Terabyte Mountain, but he wasn't sure if Yuu and Kyo were up to date on the details. Neither of them really felt up to explaining, but would consider it if prodded.

Marshal's decision was as good as any. In all honesty, the duo didn't mind any of the options and thinking about collateral damage, while something more or less decent to do on paper, wasn't something they actually minded doing.
Still, sneakily sneaking in was probably for the best. Taking a deep breath, Yuu brought out her D-Arc and gave it a quick glance before going back to Marshal?
["Ready? Let's go."] A faint glow began to envelop the digivice just as it merged with her own and Kyo's own body. Soon enough, BeelStarrmon's figure stood where the two had been. Coincidentally, however, the demoness began to resort to signs. ["If we take them by surprise, I'll make the gestures to attack. We're taking out anybody who isn't El Desperado. Gotcha?"]
She began to sneak into the hideout, and what she found was... slightly surprising, in all honesty. There, most of the gang seemed to be... asleep? Yuu couldn't believe it, but if the group had been so foolish to open themselves to an attack like this, she'd capitalize on it as much as she could.
Moving like a ghost, the digimon began to signal ["Get ready, as soon as we're finishing to set up, we're blastin' these guys into the next week. Try to find a spot where your attacks can reach everyone."]

Yuu and Kyo immediately Biomerged and prepared to ambush the targets. Marshal and Coronamon looked at each other and nodded before they fist bumped and began to Biomerge themselves. "Coronamon Biomerge to...Apollomon!"The completed form of Marshal and Coronamon's Biomerge stood imposingly over the group. Reading BeelStarrmon's signs, the lion man made his way to a good position to strike the sleeping enemies. ["I'm good to go,"] he signed. ["Let me know when to get started. I can let loose from a distance, but I need a little time to charge up."]

They'd prepare this up really nicely; seemingly, both Apollomon and BeelStarrmon thrived on being prepared before unleashing their haymakers, even if the latter wasn't sure how much time it'd take the former to power up. In any case, she gave the signal for him to begin while she did the same. She was sure that the spectacle would be worth it.
Once she was done, she gave the signal and the show began; a symphony of fire and lead, of flying bullets and spiraling blazes.
Of victory and destruction. The resulting barrage of attacks had been powerful enough to outright delete most of the digimons who found themselves in its wake, leaving no more and no less than a badly injured AvengeKidmon that rapidly devolved back into a DemiDevimon. The surprise attack had been a complete success! Nothing short of perfect, BeelStarrmon recognized as she gave a quick glance at the charred battlefield.
"That was a smooth shootout if I've seen them. They didn't even stand a chance." For the slightest of moments, the demoness wondered if she had even needed Marshal and Coronamon's help, but concluded on that line of thinking to be needless greed; the job was done, and Apollomon had played an important part on it. That much was obvious.
Drawing closer, she picked the unconscious DemiDevimon up and chained him with a pair of cuffs. After making sure the digimon wasn't getting away, BeelStarrmon's form finally began to dissolve back into its components, until the only thing that remained were the figures of a human and a digimon; Kyo and Yuu's.
"Well, ain't this the look of a job well done?" The digimon said, a bright smile gracing her face. "Now this outlaw and his band won't terrorize any innocent digimon ever again." To say that both were pretty satisfied with the results was an understatement.
After a small walk out of the cave, Yuu would finally address Marshal and Coronamon. ["You did an amazing work in there. Ever considered for a position in the law enforcement department? I'd say that you're more or less natural at it, even."] And after regarding the unconscious digimon and the sun setting through the Valley of Dragons, she added. ["Guess we might as well head back. That reward isn't going to claim itself, right?"]
The events that would come up next would come to pass in a haze; Kyo evolving into a form more suitable to transport Yuu, the four members of this small band traveling to Terminus, getting the outlaw behind the bars and claiming the reward.
Overall, it had been a busy day, but the duo couldn't complain, given it also had been pretty exciting. [Exit Thread]

Apollomon's Sol Arrow Finale was surely a sight to behold, and it certainly caught the enemies off guard. With the pre-emptive strike out of the way, the two Super Megas set on finishing the job they had been set to do. It wasn't even a fair fight. For a Super Mega, AvengeKidmon didn't seem all that strong after a huge surprise attack like that.
"Well, that was easier than I thought it was going to be," Apollomon admitted. "You probably could've gotten through it without me!" While their presence certainly made things easier, Marshal and Coronamon couldn't deny that Yuu and Kyo were insanely powerful.
On the way out, Yuu asked if Marshal had ever considered becoming a part of the law enforcement department. She noted that he seemed to have some aptitude for it, after all. "That actually sounds pretty fun," he admitted. "Maybe you can take me on another mission so I can have some time to decide!" Perhaps this could lead to new opportunities for Marshal and Coronamon later down the road.
Marshal and Coronamon followed Yuu and Kyo back to Terminus City to collect the reward on their target, having pleasant conversation and catching up on each other's lives. It was nice to be able to spend time with someone that they didn't see on a regular basis, and they hoped to do it again soon.
