"Thank you." I politely said and bowed to the man who handed me my plate of various sushi roles and tempura.it wasn't really a special occasion but I rarely was able to eat food this good so I was determined to enjoy it.
I stepped aside from the counter and looked around trying to spot an open table in the crouded restaurant. Close to the back was one last table open and I made my way there through the slightly dispersed crowd of people.
The table was a large both easily able to seat six people and with large cushioned seats. I'm onhostlynsurprized that the table was free in the first place. It must have just been cleaned.
I sat down on the bench and slid all the way to the back setting my food down on front of me. I seperated my chopsticks and started eating my food, tempora first.
Taking my time I gazed around the store at all the groups that ate together, laughing and talking to one another. While I don't really want to admit it I envied them a bit. To be able to have friends as good as those must have been really great.
I started humming to myself as I savored the fresh food infront of me.

A boy and a girl walked down the street, the girl was almost eerily quiet, while the boy was going on about something. "...So yeah, I can't figure out who the culprit is in this book you loaned me. You have any ideas?" Nikolai asked, looking down at his friend Miya.
"If you had been much, if any attention at all, you would have noticed the hotel owner's questionable behavior. Such as having the key to a room apparently already rented out. You've also missed the inconsistencies in the security guard's statement." Miya said, not taking her eyes off the ground. Nikolai went quiet.
"But what about the fact she was murdered i-" Nikolai began, before being cut off.
"She was moved from her room to the main character's. The hotel owner said himself that there were a few hidden passages." The two turned into a restaurant, that was packed, save for one last table. The two made a be line for it, grabbing it just in time. They were nowhere near ready to order, but it was a start.
"Well, this was lucky! Seems like a busy day, doesn't it?" Nikolai asked, opening up the book Miya had loaned him.
"It's most likely busy because of issues in the kitchen. If I was in charge I would have already fired the cook for not getting the food done fast enough." Miya said, with a sigh.

I stopped humming as two people sat at the table with me. From their conversation I could guess that they didn’t know I was here. It was clear enough to me that they would just continue on if I didn’t interrupt them so I just stayed quiet and continued to eat the food that I had gotten.
I turned away from them trying not to be rood though I couldn’t help from glancing back every once in a while. I kept on thinking about them no matter how much I enjoyed my food.
Did they really know I was here and didn’t mind? Did they sit here with me intentionally? Were they planning on getting any food?
Oh, that’s right, they didn’t have any food. From one of their remarks towards the service I couldn’t help but chuckle a bit though I quickly covered my mouth worrying that they had heard me. It’s not like I want to ruin their fun time after all. I just want to eat my food in peace, let them do what they want. They must have lots of really good friends. If only I were more like them, then I could spend the day with people having fun rather than being alone all day.

Finally, a waiter stopped at the table, with a fake smile, he began to speak. "Ah, hello! How can I help you? I apologize for the wait." The Waiter said, flipping open a note book.
"I'll have the cheesecake. And Ramen, with extra salt." Miya said, not looking up at the waiter.
"And for you?" He asked, causing Nikolai to look up from his book.
"Oh..um...Pork Ramen I guess." Nikolai said, nervously. The waiter then left, keeping his glued on smile all the way.
"I suppose I should have already asked, but is it okay if we sit here?" Miya asked, looking at the other girl at the table, with half lidded eyes.
"Huh? Who are you talking...oh." Nikolai said, noticing the girl, finally.
"Um...hi, I'm Nikolai, and she's Miya." Nikolai said, trying to start a conversation.
"As he said. I would apologize for not asking sooner, but you should be more assertive. Until you are, I see no reason to apologize." Miya said, crossing her arms, and closing her eyes. Nikolai frowned.
"I think she means hi." Nikolai said, trying to be helpful.
"That could be one of the things I was trying to convey, despite how unlikely that is." Miya said, before starting to read a book.

“I,um, hello?” I mumbled my mouth half full of sushi as I was surprised by the sudden interaction with me. Why couldn’t there have just been another table open for them? Why did I have to be forced into conversation?
I quickly swallowed my food so that I could actually talk to them. Hopefully my mouth won’t fail me now. “I don’t exactly mind. If you want to sit here I won’t stop you.” I sort of adverted my eyes from them worried about what they might ask me or tell me. Hopefully I won’t embarrass myself too badly. I could think more positive thoughts though. Maybe they will become my friends. No, no one will ever be friends with me. They must be on a date or something. Why else would a boy and a girl their age go out together without any other friends?
Their names sounded a bit strange. And so did their accents. Wait! I still haven’t given them my name. Hopefully it isn’t too late; maybe I might not be embarrassed. No, it’s too late already. I better jut say my name now before it takes too long.
“Kanki. My name is Kanki no Uta. It’s nice to meet you”

Miya looked up from her book, keeping the same look on her face. "The Song of joy?" Maya asked, the name wasn't strange to her. She did, however question who would name their child that, given that they could be terribly tone deaf, or not even like music.
"I suppose last names are in order as well. Mine is Sinclair, his is Makarov. I'm French and he is Russian, if you question the origin of those names." Miya said, before the waiter came with their food, still keeping his fake smile. Nikolai began eating his food right then, while Miya decided to let hers cool a bit before eating. After Miya had decided it had cooled enough, she began slowly eating, a stunning contrast to Nikolai hastily eating. She sighed, and decided talking more about themselves would be okay, no real details were required.
"I'm 16, he's 17. We go to the same school, and have known each other since we were children. I'm a fan of Sherlock Holmes books." Miya said, be cutting a small piece off of her cheesecake and eating it. Nikolai finished his food, and let out a small sigh. Miya had explained pretty much everything already, so he saw no need to say anything else.

“Ode. It’s Ode to joy, not song.” I mumbled correcting the girl. They were both older than me. If I made them mad they would easily be able to hurt me. They don’t seem too bad though. No, everyone can act like their nice; they just want to fool people. But what if there weren’t? What if they really were nice people? At least, Nikolai seemed nice. Miya seemed a bit creepy though. Maybe she was trying to be like one of the people from the books she read? What did she say the name of the books were? Sherlock holms? Isn’t that a series of mystery novels? That could explain a little bit.
In my thought I ended up moving my gaze back to the two children. I watch them eat and was shocked as to how fast the boy ate his. I had never seen anyone eat a bowl of ramen that fast before. He must have been really hungry.
I noticed that I was glaring at them and quickly turned away with an obvious blush on my face, not from any thoughts, from being embarrassed. Hopefully they didn’t notice. Knowing the girl so far she must have already noticed.

Nikolai had gone back to reading his book, while Miya was still slowly eating. She didn't miss the girl blushing, she just chose not to say anything. If the girl wanted to interpret her name as Ode, it was fine. Even though Miya was sure it meant Song. "Well then. It seems that things get more and more cramped in here." Miya said, pulling out her phone and flipping it open and closed.
"Oh. Yeah, a bit." Nikolai said adjusting his hat very slightly.
"I suppose we should get going. Are you okay with that, Nikolai?" Miya asked, crossing her arms. She had finally finished a few seconds ago, and seemed bored.
"Nah...let's stay a bit longer." Nikolai answered, causing Miya to let out a small groan.
"Whatever." Miya replied, shoving her phone back in her pocket.

(I am so rusty, sorry) “What is this?” Hope muttered in Haru's ear, looking down at the pile of white stringy things floating in a bowl of liquid. She sat on Haru's shoulder, trying her hardest to look like a normal dog. It would have been easier if it wasn't for the fact that she'd personally picked out her food at the counter and demanded extra salt. Haru was quickly gaining fame as a renowned mimic.
“Noodles” Haru replied with a grin, squeezing between two tables as he balanced a tray with two large bowls, “They're a rare delicacy here in the human world. They dig them up and cook them specially.” His blades made sharp clacks against the ground as he tried to navigate the tables, peering around for a special spot to sit in where Hope might be able to eat without attracting *too* much attention. They'd decided to stop by and grab dinner after Haru had finished his run, so he was still wearing his jogging clothes and running blades.
Hope sniffed at the bowl with a small frown. “So...it's basically worms?” she asked, nose crinkling “And your royalty eat these, you say?”
“Yep. The emperor eats the biggest earthworms he can find!” Haru chatted perkily, grabbing a pair of chopsticks, “Fresh from his garden”
“Well, if it is good enough for human royalty” Hope declared, puffing out her chest, “I will deign to try it!” She smirked smugly, looking down at all the commoners watching her. They had obviously never seen a thing of such inherent beauty, grace and delight. Hope nodded to herself, fluffing back her ears. Yes, she was so kind to visit such lowly creatures. They were sure to remember it for the rest of their lives.
“I think I've spotted a table” Haru piped up with a grin, spotting a table with only a few people sat at it. “Oh, but you will have to share it with those guys” he added.
“Share? Moi?” Hope asked, affronted, “I deserve my own table! Waiter. Waiter!”
“But Hope, it is traditional to eat the worms with other people” Haru said solemnly, a look of shock on his face, “To break the rule is to disgrace my people.”
Hope frowned and with a grumpy sigh waved a paw. “Fine” she said shortly. Pursing her lips, she sat back on his shoulder, turning her head away as they approached the table.
“Hey” Haru said with a grin as he approached the three people. Two girls and a guy, who was engrossed in a book, all eating in relative silence. Awkkkkwaaaaard. He plastered the most friendly grin on his face he could manage. “ Is it alright if my dog and I join you? She gets nervous around big crowds and most of the tables are pretty full.”
“If you don't say yes” Hope declared glaring at them as she jabbed a paw in their direction, “I will have you executed.”
There was a teeny tiny pause.
“Would you believe mimicry?”

i almost choked on my food as i saw the dog talk. surely an animal could not mimic human speech so well that it spoke. that is, with the exception of the parot who could speek if trained to. mimicry was a good excuse but a little bit of a strech. maybe it was a really good robot that has yet to be released to the market. no, wouldnt something like that be kept a secret? no, it must not be a robot. maybe its some type of mutant that excaped from a lab? if so, why would it be at a mall restaurant? no, i guess it must be a combination of really good training and mimicry.
it was about this time that i noticed myself staring wide-eyed at the dog which spoke. i turned my head back to my food like nothing had happened but i was clearly blushing from embarasement. my mind raced trying to think of something to say.
“i dont mind if you want to sit here too.” i muttered just trying to grasp the situation. first the kids a little older than me sat down while on their date and now yet another person and their dog wants to join us.

Any other person might have cared about the talking dog. Miya just stared at it for a second before blinking and looking at the table. Nikolai fell under the category of "Other People" making an amusing yelp sound, and causing his chair to fall backwards with him still in it. Miya figured there would be some explanation later, and Mimispeak would not be accepted as it. Nikolai stood up rubbing his head.
"You can sit here. It doesn't really matter to me." Miya finally replied. Nikolai fixed his chair, and sat back down, seeming rather disgruntled. Miya went back to her book, seeing no point in trying to get information on the 'dog', and needing a distraction. For once, she just didn't care.
((Ughhhh Short post is short. I'll have someone take a post off me for this.))

“Sweet” Haru chirped, dumping his tray onto the table. Hope hopped off his shoulder, padding in a circle before sitting down daintily on the wooden surface. She smirked as one of the humans fell from his chair to the ground, a sound of awe leaving his throat as the chair hit with a loud clatter. “It's alright, I have that effect on people” She purred smugly, fluffing up her fur. “Haru, a napkin please!”
“Still mimicry” Haru added in a sing song voice to the other three as he helped Hope tuck a napkin into her heavy gold collar, making sure it covered her paw and front. “Couldn't allow my pristine fur to get messy” Hope said, gently smoothing out the front of the napkin with both paws. “Are there any chopsticks?” She asked them curiously, padding across the table to rummage through the stand in the middle.
“Aha!”
With a delighted grin, she pulled out two wooden sticks wrapped tightly in a plastic sleeve in her paw. “Um...Hope...remember you are a dog?” Haru reminded pointedly, looking around at the other people. “Right, right” Hope said dismissively with an eye roll, “Woof woof”. She tore open the wrapping with her teeth and pulled the sticks out, clumsily snapping them apart. “Like a dog” Haru said, as Hope struggled to grip the chopsticks in her paw. She looked at him suspiciously then around at the others. Haru nodded pointedly at the bowl and Hope looked down at it, then at him, then at the others. "Like a dog~" Haru repeated, waggling his eyes at her. Hope's face fell and she scrunched up her nose in distaste. “You're not seriously suggesting...But it's so messy! And undignified!”
“Oh yes” Haru sang gleefully as he helped himself to his own pair of chopsticks, pulling his ramen bowl close to him. “You don't mind if my dog eats at the table, right?” he added, looking hopefully at the other three. The salamon didn't wait for a response as her stomach let out a low growl. "...Fine. Like a dog," Hope muttered and she dropped the chopsticks, eyeing her ramen as if it were evil incarnate. With an irritable growl, she lowered her head and shoved it into the bowl, wolfing up the liquid and a big tangle of noodles. She chewed it for a few seconds, desperately trying to avoid splashing herself, before her tongue registered that the liquid was still piping hot.
Hope let out a squeal of pain, leaping back as she spat out the noodles and fanned her tongue, gasping for air. Without so much as an apology, the salamon reached over and grabbed one of the other three's drinks, downing it in three big gulps as she continued to hop about the table. Haru snorted as she finally sat down, picking up the chopsticks in her paws. “I refuse to slurp” she snarled, eyes flashing as she dared any of the humans to disagree. With a snooty sniff, she deftly scooped one noodle from the soup and nibbled it slowly, dabbing with her other paw at her chin. After a thoughtful pause as she savoured the taste, Hope's face brightened and she smiled at the people around the table. "These worms are really very delicious" she declared, "I will serve them every friday when I become queen! Be grateful." With a satisfied smirk, she scooped another noodle out, engrossing herself in her food.
“So...” Haru stated after a small pause, “When I say mimicry, I really mean advanced robotics, artificial intelligence and a secret ingredient I can't own up to.” He smiled innocently and took a bit from his ramen, slurping it down happily. “So...what brings you guys to this lovely ramen joint?”

I continued eating my food as the dog/robot/whatever it is made a scene before finally using chopsticks like a human being, albeit it must have been hard considering its non-human body. I was surprised that my guess on it being a robot was right. Who would have been able to make a robot like that? Some secret company or maybe a lab? Why did it have to eat though? How could it eat in the first place? Maybe it was a cyborg? No, technology wasn’t that advanced yet.
I looked around the table as everyone was in some sort of strange silence as no conversation was going on. Maybe I could start a conversation? If I pick the wrong subject though it could just make the situation worse. I need something simple to talk about that can easily be disregarded. An event maybe? Is there anything going on soon? Well, there is that one thing. Should I tell them? What if they would like to go with me? I guess that could be fun. It would be strange though. Well, I guess it can’t really hurt anything. Maybe it might be fun going all together as a group.
“I hear that there is a circus coming to town soon.”

"That low brow entertainment means nothing to me." Miya said coldly. Nikolai however, had a different opinion.
"Really?" Nikolai asked, thinly veiled excitement in his voice. Miya face Palmed, she honestly couldn't believe what she was hearing. "Hey Miya, it might be worth checking out!" Nikolai said enthusiastically. Miya just sighed.
"If you really want to go we can." Miya said, slightly smiling.
"And about that mimicry, I know it's a lie, but it's your business, and if I dug into the business of everyone in town, I would have a lot of enemies." Miya said, as if she wasn't hated by a majority of her school. Nikolai grinned, wondering about what kind of acts there would be.
"Hey Miya, you ready to go?" Nikolai asked, excited, ready to go out and see what kind of information he could get.
"I suppose so." Miya said, placing enough yen on the table to pay for her food, Nikolai did the same. Then the two left the restaurant. [[Exit]]
