Shattered Rhythm [Mikemon]

Doctor Mikemon gave a nod: "I don't expect you to be sleeping perfectly yet, but that you were able to get through most of the night is a good start. I mean, you even slept in... its like, what, 9 o'clock?" Well, slept in for K, at least - if she was still on that inn time, she'd be used to getting up at 6, perhaps even a touch earlier! As for himself? "Stingmon's headed out to the Empyrian Skies for a meeting in my place - the whole liaison thing. You're actually in luck - this is my off day."
That said, it wasn't as if he'd simply stop working because of that! Hearing her question, Mikemon stood up, stretching out his arms in a slight yawn. "The plan for today? I think, is to get out of the office and stretch our legs." Settling on that, the cat gave a nod, giving a smile towards the wolf. "Get a nice outdoor breakfast, a walk on the beach - all stuff we can do without having the news right in our faces, you know? And if that gets to be a bit too much, well, we can hang around here. Stingmon's got a DVD player and a bunch of movies from the human world."
Both were options! For a moment, the cat's eyes rested on the Shutmon, looking from the tip of her head to the bottom of her feet. Sheer white fur, in the middle of Whitewater? "Hm. You're going to need a hat or a parasol, or you're just going to have light reflected into your eyes all day. Especially from that mane..."

The shutmon rubbed the back of her head and gave the mikemon a small but somewhat emberrased smile. A good nights sleep did mean a lot when your entire data rhythm was off. She could imagine if she had woken up constantly and been afflicted with worsening nightmares they might not be having this conversation at all!
"I wouldn't expect it either.. and really? that's... Well I suppose when I went to sleep last night, that shouldn't be too much of a surprise."
The shutmon had been used to going to bed late and getting up early for years. All to run her inn and continue serving people that came to it. She had to admit that she loved every minute of that place and the thought of it gave her a small pause.
"I used to get up around four to get the kitchen warmed up.. so sleeping in so far when I go to bed so early well..."
The renamon chuckled a bit and rubbed the back of her head, looking somewhat meek about the whole thing. Should she really start to get used to waking up later? She could get used to it, it was very nice to sleep in. There was a small pause and the wolf digimon grinned.
"So I get you all to myself do I? Lucky me~"
There was a small chuckle and she'd stick out her tongue at the mikemon. She'd reach out to give the cat digimon a gentle but rather affectionate pat on the head. She'd pause after a few moments to consider what he suggested and retracted her hand in favor of rubbing her chin; a habit she had picked up from the humans in their world.
"That sounds like a wonderful plan actually, out and about for a while before coming back in and just watching some movies together...."
There was another pause and she'd follow where he was looking; her brows furrowed and she grimaced after a few moments. There was a few moments where she admitted he did have a point. Then she'd perk up and grin again before tapping her red cloak; gingerly tugging the hood up and over her head.
"This'll help a bit I think, people might question why I have a hood up but when they see the fur I don't think too many will wonder. If they ask it's not hard to tell them..."
She'd suggest a bit before gingerly running her hands through the stark white fur that she had. It was strange; she was so used to this being a darker variant of it. Then there was a small frown after a few moments that graced her face.
"With the color change, do you think that Jesmon's Data type overwrote the rest of them? Some were vaccine and some were virus. Do you think the white fur might symbolize something a little deeper?"
The shutmon mulled before shaking her head, moving over to the mikemon after a few moments.
"Eh... I can worry about that another time actually. Do you want to get going?"

"That so? Early bird, I guess..." Mikemon was quick to focus on the time rather than the setting - he knew the inn still stung for K, and didn't want to ruffle the Shutmon's already tempermental data. Thankfully, the topic moved along well enough...
... Enough for the feline to blush, at K's offhand comment. "Heh, yeah. All to yourself.~" He played along with it, though, closing his eyes and smiling as that hand briefly patted the top of his head. Soon enough, the two would have their plan for the day set in place: a good old walk on the town, followed by a later afternoon and evening of figuring out if Stingmon had any good movies to watch!
"Huh... honestly, I didn't think about the hood. It'll work, until your eyes adjust to the light." With a nod, his ear twitched at the next question. Had K's data structure changed? Mikemon could check, but that would involve going into the back, and - right, no time for that! "Eh, don't worry too much about it. It's something I can check in our next check-up, and even before all this, its not as if you weren't changing attributes before. Anyway, let's get going!"
And off they went! Out in the summery weather that Whitewater had to offer, even at 9:20 in the morning, the sun already beamed down through a bright, slightly overcast sky. Thankfully, the sun had been to their backs for their first outing, a good outdoor breakfast at a simple place called 'Pancakes and Eggs'. With their orders already handled, and half a cup of coffee empty in front of the Mikemon, the cat gave a sigh. "So much better, already..." He muttered. Once again, he'd traded shifts with Stingmon all night - that lucky bug would get to catch up on sleep on the Blimpmon ride to the skies!
Catching himself, though, the feline gave a light cough. "I've been here a few more times than I probably should have, but darn it, they know how to make a good hazelnut. Anyway." The cat gave a smile and a nod towards the wolf: "I guess I was pulling the reins earlier, though. I said the beach, but is there anything else here you'd like to check out?"

The shutmon dipped her head in a nod when the mikemon made mention of the time frame. The wound was still rather fresh when it came to her inn... But there wasn't sadness that panged her heart; it wasn't sadness that made her data swirl. It was drive, it was desire. It was full blown want. She wanted to find everyone, she wanted to drive those foes into the ground. She desired the safety that she had once provided to others.
But the last one wouldn't be as those groups were still roaming, so here she stood ready to do something drastic of course. Her thoughts however were interrupted quickly and she was brought back more to the present with the response the mikemon had to her comment.
"Of course, this means you have the same of me."
She'd stick out her tongue and smile warmly; her head tilting just a little bit. The shutmon considered something for a moment and then dipped in a nod. He was right about the whole light thing.. as she hadn't really been outside in a bit and the brightness would be rather intsnese.
"It's fine dear. I only mentioned it because I was made aware of it recently you know? Jesmon sometimes makes offhand comments about some things."
There was a snicker and then she'd pause when he said that they wouldn't have to worry too much about her data change. That was a relief actually; even if it did change to something else it likely wouldn't affect anything. There was a small pause though when he said that they should get going. She'd mumble under her breath and shake her head before following after him...
"....Strange sense of Deja vu..."
With her hood up the light wasn't so bad, it still beat her eyes something fierce. Even with the overcast sky and it being somewhat behind them it was easy enough for her fur to grab the light and make itself known.
Of course the shutmon was sitting across from the mikemon; though there was an underlying awkwardness as she looked around with her hood still up. She could feel eyes on her. Both patrons and people passing by. It was strange being the center of attention or just noticed offhand. She'd perk up when mikemon spoke and she'd turn her head, the icy blue eyes warming slightly.
"Coffee really does that much for you huh?"
There was a small chuckle and she'd lean to take a sip from her drink. She liked having a cup of juice to get her morning going normally and this time was no different.
"really now? I'll have to try it sometime.."
She'd rub her muzzle and blink owlishly as he addressed her. She'd chuckle at his mention of rein pulling along with the beach. She'd consider his query quietly for a little bit before sighing.
"..honestly if we can just walk around a bit that'd be great. Maybe check out some things here and there..."

At the mention of coffee, Mikemon gave a chuckle. "Heh. When you have to be alert every morning for patients, you get hooked on the stuff pretty fast. A good or bad cup of coffee can set the mood for the rest of the day." That much was true (for him at least), and as they finished up their drinks, the cat gave a nod to her response: just a walk on the town?
"Well, I'll do my best to be your tour guide. We'll make our way over to the beach, head out a bit, and then circle right back around to the clinic." With their plan set, and the receipt in front of them, the Mikemon reached into his glove and pulled out a bill, folding it and setting it under the receipt. He gave a nod to the waitress, and soon the two would be on their way into town...
... Though, one thing the doctor didn't consider was their difference in stride! Just around the corner to the breakfast place, it wasn't that noticeable, but to keep up with the Shutmon's normal walking pace, the cat had to keep a fair 'trot' on all fours! There didn't seem to be anything off about it, and like that, it wasn't hard for him to keep up...
... Though it was the first time the cat had so casually walked like that in a long time! "Let's see.. ah, yes, down this way we have 'Artist's Row'." Like its namesake, most of the shops here had glass doors to the outside, showing varying pieces to the outside - most of them colorful and vibrant in tone, to catch the eye of the tourist! "Glass blowers, sculptors, good old paintings of the beach and the city. Sometimes I think about getting a piece for the office, but keeping the same painting around all the time? Eh, I'd worry one would lead to five, or something."
"Still," the cat chuckled, "The fact that this is here at all is amazing. With how much of the Digital World is still wilds, small villages, and secluded life? Nice to see something 'new' like this, ya know?"

"You have a fair point there heh. I don't know how well I'd deal with patients in the wee hours."
There was a small pause and the shutmon considered something. She'd look around slowly; her ears and eyes flicking about. She still felt those eyes on her but they were so much less so. There was some larger driving force behind one she could tell but where was it? The shutmon shifted just a bit and stared at the Mikemon giving him a small grin as he told her that he'd act as a tour guide.
"A tour guide of sorts... Does that mean we get to take pictures?"
She'd laugh softly and sigh, giving the mikemon a small smile. Though with the receipt she'd reach to take her card.... Before her claws scrabbled for purchase against her fur and with a soft huff [and rosy cheeks] she'd stare at the mikemon.
"At this rate I'm never going to pay for my half of the meals am I?"
She wasn't really bothered by the fact but she certainly didn't want to force him to do something he didn't need to. It could be expensive for two people after all if one wasn't pulling their weight.
It didn't take her long to notice that the cat was having some trouble keeping up with her. Eventually once they got to a stop she'd pause and look around; taking in some of the shops and raising her brows. After some long moments of looking at some 'art' she'd glance at mikemon.
"These are very pretty. But I don't think I'd buy anything here either. They wouldn't serve a purpose other than keeping patients calm if you got a specific type..."
She'd pause and feel her face flush a bit at an idea she had. She'd nod in agreement and put her hand against the window. Staring at the art that lay within.
"Progress is something I wasn't expecting to see so much of... in such a vast majority. You know some places still don't have access to fire? The sheer difference is.. staggering."
She'd glance down at the mikemon before kneeling just a bit so that she was somewhat at eye level.
"Shoulder or should I carry you like I would a kitten?"
There was a small wolfish grin at the question as she noted that he was having to walk around like one earlier anyways but... She didn't mind the idea of either. The first would let him gesture freely but the second would be a little more controlled....

"Heh, you can take pictures if you want! I don't have a camera on me, though..."
The cat gave a small chuckle at that - but a moment later, as K remarked about paying for her half, a red tint entered the Mikemon's cheeks. Looking down at the bill he just paid, the cat gave a blink, smiled, and let out a small laugh. "O-oh. Sorry. Honestly that's just a force of habit to me that I didn't even realize. Didn't mean anything by it..." Scratching the back of his head, the feline briefly thought of how to respond... ah! "Tell ya what; just consider this my treat to you, and I'll be more careful about it going forward. Sound good?"
Over in the art district, it didn't take long for K to find interest in the glass displays, the feline taking a look through a different window towards a landscape he had looked into before. "Mm, if I got something, it would be for myself or for the waiting room. And for that, it would have to be something neutral, just complimenting the wall color... or something. I don't pretend to know much about interior decorating." Giving a brief smile, ear twitching as K mentioned some parts of the Digital World being without fire, Mikemon gave a sigh.
"Some places are still entirely feral, too. Honestly its amazing that this world still has this much variety... hm?"
What was that? It was only about then that the Mikemon realized just how much he might have been lagging behind, but hearing that question, the doctor couldn't help but give a slight blush. Meeting her eye contact for a moment, the feline darted his eyes away, mulling the idea over in his head... before the blush brightened up a touch more.
"... You can carry me."
With a small cough, the cat's expression normalized somewhat. Whether she plucked him up, or if he would jump into her arms, was ultimately up to K: once lifted, it didn't take much for him to settle in, briefly nuzzling against the Shutmon's collar before curling up in those arms.
Right: "The beach is straight ahead. Head left when you see the docks and you'll see it on your right. Shouldn't be too crowded right now..."
And thankfully, it wasn't. Like that, it wouldn't be too long before they would be out of the 'asphalt jungle' and onto the scenic beach, Mikemon's ear twitching above and tail swaying below as he tried to settle in for the ride. Hoo boy...

"I don't have a camera on me either you know."
She'd shake her head and just smile at him, gently patting the top of the mikemon's head before moving on. She knew that the habit wouldn't go away but the fact he was willing to address the fact that he was doing it out of habit along with other things spoke volumes of how much he'd be willing to work with more complicated problems in the future.
If he hadn't already tried to help her with all of her own problems already she wondered quietly if they would of had a somewhat slower build up of a relationship rather than one that felt like it sprung up rather quickly. Though maybe she was just bad at seeing the build up as her life had been a mess anyways.
She'd look through the art pieces and settle on one that was rather emotional, overbearing and somewhat intense. But it was profound in such a way that the shutmon stood there staring at it for a long few moments. Her silence deepened for a few minutes and she'd shake her head suddenly.
The... fi....
Some echo or something she didn't understand and the shutmon rubbed her head in irritation. But she'd smile down to him and gingerly run a hand through her fur after a few moments. She could still feel those eyes on her, and it was only getting worse the longer they continued about.
"I ran into a group of digimon that were feral, didn't speak and treated everything but themselves as food. The fight wasn't something I wanted but I wasn't about to let them take me. It's part of the reason why I'm better with this form than any other..."
There was a small frown before it was quickly washed away from the look she was getting from the mikemon. She'd carefully, gingerly and with a soft grace of love pick up the mikemon. Her finger dragged through his fur and settled so that she was carrying him with one hand while scritching at one of his ears with the other. Her affection wasn't overbearing, but it was consistent and flowed well thankfully as she knew when to stop... over stimulating was a bad thing.
"All right. lets see..."
The shutmon would carry the mikemon all the way through the jungle of roads and buildings up until they got to the beach. Which the larger digimon with an affectionate head pat would set the mikemon down again. Her own tail was thrashing behind her; but as she was a wolf in design? She smiled up until an echo brought her attention to it again; her icy eyes widening a bit as she couldn't really tell what was going on... but it shouldn't matter considering they were here right...?
T-the.. F-fi-fir....

Mikemon was aware that K seemed uncomfortable for a moment...
... But, at this point, he wasn't aware why. Unfortunately, it was easy to mistake the Shutmon's sudden realization of an introspective voice as just another side effect of the cores settling in - and by how K looked yesterday, the Shutmon looked miles better by comparison. The feline was quite easily plucked up into K's grip, warmly settling inside those arms. It would have been easy just to go along for the ride, but as he felt K's claw press over a particular part behind his ear?
He couldn't help it: the cat started to purr. Blushing, the cat almost seemed to huff, closing his eyes as he comfortably settled in, a gentle purr reverberating through the wolf's arms. "... Thanks." The tone was a touch awkward, but the appreciation was truly there. Onward they went towards the beach...
... And soon enough, the Mikemon would find himself set down, once more standing on his own two feet. Rubbing his cheeks to try and even out the blush, the cat taking a few steps out to enjoy the feeling of sand beneath his paws. "Well, I know a nice place out around this way. We can head out there, watch the waves for a bit, then start to work our way back - um, K?" Alright, now the feline noticed something, like K's focus wasn't entirely 'here'. Tilting his head curiously, the doctor simply decided to ask:
"You alright?" The tone was calm, with only a slight bit of concern hanging on the edge.

K only smiled a little bit at mikemon thanking her likely for the scritching behind his ear. Or perhaps it was for the fact she noticed the struggling of him to keep up with her long stride. There was a pause after a few moments as she noticed something behind her; she didn't turn suddenly but it was just enough to where she could confirm...
Something has been following us. Specifically me. But why...
She'd continue moving onward of course and once they were on the beach properly she ignored the sinking feeling before gazing around on the beach. She had been here a few times, Once with Eva, Once with Amelie and once by herself.
She looked down at her hands for a few long moments; she could feel something echoing off in the distance desiring her attention but her focus was removed by the fact that the mikemon talked at her.
"A-ah... Uhm... yes s-sorry can you say that again?"
There was a flicker in her eyes, the scleria darkened almost immediately to the point where it looked like her renamon eyes rather than her shutmon ones. She'd furrow her brows a little bit and she felt that echo again but more profoundly.
"I think I'm just.. settling a bit. Feeling a tad odd and it's hard to concentrate with this... I'm hearing something talk at me. Might be Jesmon or Examon but it.. Sounds like me?"

K was asking him to repeat what he said?
Oh, yeah, something was definitely off. Still, he responded quite calmly: "Oh, just talking about some part of the beach I know about." The Mikemon turned to face the Shutmon, giving a smile as he observed her form. The eye flicker the most concerning thing: though the freshly-created Digimon was remarkably stable - at least, considering her circumstances - it still didn't mean that the forms came without any sort of glitch or hiccup.
'Settling a bit' sounded about right to the cat. Hearing her reasoning, Mikemon gave a nod: "Mm. It's most likely as you say, its an expected symptom of the cores settling in. Still, I think we should get back to the office, just in case we need to have something more... 'substantial' on hand." It was a shame, but it seemed their extended beach walk and city tour would need to happen at another time. After all, the cat's voice was calm, but he clearly wasn't offering many alternatives.
Of course, he figured K would likely understand. This time, the Mikemon would (if offered) climb up to rest on the wolf's shoulder, before asking a more simple question: "Come to think of it, what kind of movies do you like? Might need to grab some popcorn on the way back..."

The shutmon's ears flicked forward a bit and she'd look around at the location. She felt out of sorts because of all these different happenings. She'd glance behind the both of them again but there was a moment where she felt something cold graze her. Was it intent? Or perhaps just a sensation that she just was trying to get used to.
It should of had to matter to her so drastically but the echo came again. This time it was more clear, concise and somewhat fractured. It made her hesitate, stare down at herself and consider a few options that she didn't previously.
T-th.. The.... First... K-key...
She'd blink a bit and frown slowly before perking up when the mikemon spoke again, she'd smile at him before mulling over the suggestion that they should go back to the office. He was right; they had come out too soon. She needed time to re-structure herself and find out what this single line was going to be.
"If that's what you think I'm not going to argue with you. I don't want any condition to worsen and this entire experience has been extremely cathartic."
She'd kneel down to let the mikemon climb onto her shoulder before heading out. There was a few moments where she weighed the options of flight followed by gazing around. She saw a few people scurry away from her as well as the brief instance of a black shape vanishing completely. She'd frown slightly and hope that wasn't the person she thought it was before moving forward.
"......Mikemon I have never watched any feature length film. I know what movies are, but I've never... partaken in any? So I guess a wide variety would be appreciated to start me off slow. I did see a food stand selling bags of the stuff in the market if you want to grab some from there. Might have to be air popped but i don't think that'll be a problem considering."

Again, there was probably nothing to be worried about - though the Shutmon was definitely a touch out of it, she was at least on her own two feet, able to walk and understand what he had to say. Though they were optimistic of what her condition would be like today, it was still much better than it could have turned out to be.
So long as K could hold herself long enough to get back to the office, there would be nothing to worry about! "Heh, we'll have to try this again once you're all settled in. For now, let's head on back..."
Comfortably perched on K's shoulder, it wouldn't take long for the two to make their way back. Some passers-by would step away at the sight of the Shutmon, while others would give a casual wave to the doctor, to which Mikemon would give a small wave back. This city took all kinds, after all - those that would move on without so much as a blink of an eye, and those who would have thought K's unstable appearance terrifying!
Hearing her bit about movies, the Mikemon gave a chuckle. "Start off slow with a movie binge? Alright, sounds good to me." With one playful tap on her shoulder, it wouldn't take long to find that convenience store - easily finding both popcorn and a small assortment of sweets - before making their way back to the office. Whether they were being followed or not, the Mikemon wouldn't seem to notice, opening the door back to his office for the Shutmon. "Make yourself at home. Living quarters are on the second floor, staircase is in the far back." Huh, so the cat also lived her? Made enough sense, anyway!
"Come to think of it, I wonder how that insect's meeting is going... hmph."

The shutmons scratched her neck a little bit and then dipped her head in a nod. She'd pad back towards the doctor's office watching the interactions of the people with Mikemon. Her ears flicked a little bit at some of the ones that waved; but the ones that stepped away from her didn't get a reaction.
She knew the unsettling nature of seeing something like her of course; she would of balked not even a year ago if she saw herself now! She'd mull over the idea of watching a bunch of movies. Wondering quietly if she was suited for them of course.
"I mean unless you have a better suggestion? If so I'd love to hear it."
With how short and sweet the interaction with the convenience store was made the Shutmon realize that she really should of based the Inn out of someplace like this but ultimately that was a fruitless thought train.
As she would never be an innkeeper again.
The painful though only gave her a small thought before she gently brushed it away. There was no point on sitting here, crying about that particular loss over and over again. The shutmon paused right outside of the doctor's office, glancing back only to see that flash of black and yellow again; it was slow this time almost to the point where he wanted to have K see him.
Joseph.
So he had found her here and was keeping an eye on her. There was a small moment where she smiled before entering into the Doctor's office. If joseph was around she'd have to talk to him later; it was quite possible he was just lonely and wanted to talk.
Once inside the shutmon looked around carefully; making sure to take in the location as they went. She'd pad towards the staircase; a small frown coming onto her lips. Her ears flicked a bit when the mikemon mentioned the meeting.
"What was the meeting about again? I... don't remember."
There was a pained note in her voice as some of the day was already slipping from her. But she understood that the jesmon needed time to adjust her data all considering. While it wasn't something immediately threatening there was a chance where this might become a problem if it continued for too long.

"Honestly, it's the best I got." Chuckling, and giving a short scratch behind K's ear, there wouldn't be much incident - or, at least, much incident that the Mikemon would notice - on their trip back to the office. Slipping down from the Shutmon's shoulder as the pair made their way inside, the cat gave a blink. It was clear that she was distracted by something, but now her memory was starting to go?
Or maybe it just didn't seem that important to stick out in light of everything else? "He went out in my place to the Empyrean Skies for a discussion of... well, all that, that happened in the Dark Area. I don't know the specifics myself, yet." Hopefully letting that point slip by without incident, Mikemon would carefully watch the Shutmon make her way upstairs. At this rate, there was a thought in the back of his head that she might simply fall right back down.
But presuming she didn't, she'd finally get to see the second floor of this office - which amounted to a rather simple two bedroom apartment. In the common room rested a comfortable-looking, worn sofa as well as a respectable enough TV, hooked to a DVD player and a cardboard box full of various qualities of movies. In the back-left corner stood the kitchen, and on the right, doors to two separate bedrooms, both closed and the Stingmon's own locked.
"Welcome home... not much, but have to keep it pretty simple to fit in this space. Go ahead and get off your feet, I'll get the popcorn started." Nodding to the chair, and making his own way to the kitchen, the cat gave a careful glance over his shoulder.
... She's been distracted for the past thirty minutes, clearly... like she's seeing a ghost or something...
