The day after disaster...If there was one thing Alicia could be thankful for, it was that Chaosdramon's lab was not an unknown landmark in the Dark Area. If there were two, it would be that Sol and Kisara weren't the hardest needles to find in that haystack.
It was how, after only one short day, that Wizardmon was able to fulfill Mikemon's otherwise unreasonable request. However it happened, at about ten in the morning, there was a knock at the doctor's front door. "Oi? Anyone home?"
"Its a clinic... the door's open if it says 'open."
"Ah, sorry, sorry." Well, that was a touch awkward! Giving a chuckle, and edging the door open with his shoulder, the tamer (X) made his way into the waiting room. Standing at his side was his partner Digimon, a Deputymon, who tilted his hat towards the Stingmon behind the counter. Wrapped around the tamer's left arm, hooks digging into a glove like a falconer's, was a Pipismon, giving a rather cheerful 'squeak' that radiated throughout the waiting room.
As cheerful as this group was, though, it definitely wasn't the most interesting thing about him. No, what drew eyes and ears were the two specter Digimon that currently trailed behind his back. Giving a glance and a nod towards those two in particular, the insect buzzed to the back.
"Hm? Ah, thank you." The doctor himself was just going over some small items with Alicia, having organized a list last night regarding her condition. Hanging up the phone, the doctor tilted his head towards the door. "Guess this can wait for a little bit. You have an, um, 'delivery' at the front."

To say that either of the spirits were ‘calm’ for the moment, however, was not one of the lucky things for the day. For so long to pass after the initial incident boded poorly for Alicia’s condition, as well as for that of any who met her on her rampage. Still, someone had come specifically to pick them up.
Sol had just wished it had been done with a less... noisy signal. He had not been aware that screeching could get that high. Or that his ears were able to process it without bursting. The squeak from the Pipismon drew a bit of an eye twitch from him, and a wince from the ice maiden that came for the ride.
”Sorry you had to go to such trouble for us...” Kisara mused to the tamer that had ferried Alicia’s D-Scanner this far. She’d hoped that the bearer of Steel would come for them herself, but that hadn’t seemed to be in the cards.
------
With the doctor, Alicia perked up at the notice of a delivery. “Already? ... I wonder if that’s because I made that big of a mess there or if it’s something else...” Regardless, a smile graced her lips. It looked like she so dearly wanted to jump up and go out there herself, but she contained herself, given the situation. She’d waited this long... a couple more minutes couldn’t hurt that much.

Ah, this again? Keeping his smile, the tamer gave a sigh as both Sol and Kisara gave a wince at Pipismon's squeak. It couldn't be helped at this point: there was only so many times that he could apologize, explain that the little fella was just trying to help, or try and have the bat apologize to either of them. "C'mon, they aren't used to you yet..."
Scratching the back of the Pipismon's head, the tamer managed a better smile to Kisara: "Not a problem at all. Deputymon was due here in a day or two anyway, so why not knock out two birds with one stone?" Save for the fact that he actually pushed up the appointment a week to make it this convenient, it seemed like a decent enough convenience!
"I wouldn't worry too much about how it all happened," Mikemon gave a nod, returning the spirit user's smile. It would have been easy enough for the cat to head on back, but instead, the feline gestured to the door with a paw: "Go on, I'll sort out the paperwork here. You've been patient enough as it is." Despite her polite tone, Alicia likely wore the excitement on her face and expression - and it wasn't like she'd be thinking too much about what the cat had to say at this point, anyway!
Back at the front, the tamer had sat down on a waiting room chair, leaving a rather awkward silence between him and the Stingmon receptionist, who only looked to the four of them from the corner of his eye. "... Just once, I want to see this cat take a normal patient." That was muttered, but in this quiet room, it carried far more than he intended.

”Your reassurances are appreciated but it’s practically written on your face that this was done at some inconvenience on your part. Both Kisara and I can tell it clear as day.” Sol noted to the tamer. Very little slipped past the dragon’s gaze it seemed.
”What Sol said... We’re really sharp like that...”
------------------------
Alicia looked over as Mikemon began to comment on her musings. Then she perked up as he gestured to the door.
It was amazing that she hadn’t broken anything, she was up and out before the Mikemon could even finish what he intended to say. It was also amazing that she was able to move so fast just a day after being admitted. The cat may have been a great doctor, but she was still human, even he had his limits.
------------------------
Sharp they may be but, focused on the tamer and his partners as they were, Sol and Kisara never saw the red haired blur coming until it tackled them to the ground and hugged them tight.
”Mmph!? K-Kid...?”
”Aiee! Aliciaaaa! Some warning next time?”
The two spirits then blinked as they heard soft sobs coming from the bearer of Steel, realizing that maybe they had underestimated just how much Alicia valued their ever-present support. Falling silent, dragon and maiden gently laid a hand on one of Alicia’s shoulders each and let her do as she willed.

"Eheh, I guess!" The tamer gave a chuckle to the dragon spirit, not really finding a reason to argue with either of their logic. "But an inconvenience like this is something I'm more than ready to take up. Besides, when the boss asks me to do it, can't really say no."
Pipismon gave a squeak in response, as if agreeing with the tamer, the Deputymon simply adding his own nod. Wheras Alicia was a spirit wielder with two talking partners, it seemed the tamer here had to carry enough words for all three of them!
Of course, it didn't take long, once Alicia got the news, to come rushing out to the waiting room, and before he could even think to introduce himself, the spirit wielder had already jumped into the arms of both of her spirits! The tamer gave a blink, at first dumbfounded at the result. "What - I thought you two were ethereal! I saw Sol slipping through the train door and stuff!"
What a weird epiphany! Still, this seemed like quite an emotional reunion - would it really be a good idea to interrupt?
"Well, I can see why she was in just a hurry..." Mikemon sighed, a freshly organized stack of papers stuffed under his arm. Seeing the display, the cat couldn't help but give a soft smile, shaking his head. "Considering those two I've heard so much about were here... Moeru, I trust there were no problems?"
"Not at all." Case in point, Moeru reached into his coat pocket, and drew forth a familiar D-Scanner - one with a dull grey body, black handle, and gold buttons. Despite all the peat moss and debris in the area, the device looked better than ever, well taken care of in transit. "Heh, I take it you're Alicia?"

”I’ll explain later.” Sol quipped to Moeru, smiling apologetically. He’d wanted to be as little of a bother as possible after all, so phasing through objects was, in his opinion, an obvious course of action. Normally he would’ve elaborated right there but... well, touchy Spirit User is touchy and comforting the poor girl was higher priority.
For the moment, the spirit user was ignoring everything else around her, keeping her two advisors in a very tight grip. At least, until Moeru made the assumption of who she was.
“Ah...? Oh dear, I’m sorry!” Scrambling, the redhead got to her feet and brushed herself off briefly. she then took a breath to try and settle herself down before nodding. “Y-Yeah. Sorry, I didn’t mean to ignore you or anything like that. And... thank you for bringing them and my digivice...”
Her right hand came forward for a brief second, before the bearer of Steel jerked, remembering what had happened, and snapped back to hide it behind her back. She still wasn’t entirely used to the whole thing... At least she knew everyone currently present was involved in the Digital World one way or another though.
Poor girl was a bit too down to do much more after the inevitably unfortunate reminder... it would take her a quite a while to adjust, she feared...

Honestly, it was more than reasonable that Alicia had entirely ignored the other tamer. Between her experiences in the Dark Area and being separated from two dear friends and advisors for the first time in who-knew-how-long at this point, Moeru wasn't about to intrude upon their reunion. Rather, he just gave a chuckle towards Sol: "Eh, don't worry about it. I'm some kid you've never met before, whereas she's your partner." And how could Moeru compare?
Still, Alicia managed to right herself after a few moment. With the same calm smile as before, Moeru offered the device, which was a mere inch from the spirit wielder's hand... until she seemed to second guess herself, pulling back, as if hiding that particular arm. Beneath the bandages, it was hard to tell - did reaching out sting for her? Or was it something more profound? The Deputymon and tamer shared a slightly confused glance at each-other, as the Mikemon gave an understanding sigh in the background.
It was something that the cat saw a lot of, considering his work. Not everyone - a significantly high percentage, actually - had quite the difficulty accepting how they looked or what they were after treatment. "These two are alright," the cat finally said, breaking the tension. "They've seen worse, and though Moeru may be brash, they've seen worse."
"Hey, don't put it that way..." The tamer chuckled, as the cat took the device from his hands, offering it over to the spirit wielder. As he did so, he gave a nod to both of the spectral spirits in the room.
"Sorry for so many quick introductions. I'm Dr. Mikemon. Kisara and Sol, right?" The cat nodded to each, somehow blindly attributing the names in the right order. "Right now, Alicia's in an observation period after her treatment. I suppose we have quite a bit to talk about..."

”Ha... thanks for understanding.” Sol shot back with a sad smile, though he noticed how Alicia recoil like she had been bitten. It was just a hint of what had transpired, that was for sure. The steel dragon sighed to himself as well, as Kisara righted herself and bit her lip.
Alicia looked down for a moment, and then extended her left hand out to reclaim her D-Scanner from the cat. “It’s not them, I just...” She trailed off and averted her gaze, tucking her D-Scanner away where it belonged. “Well... you’re already well aware, doc...” She couldn’t bear to speak of it more than she needed to at the moment, with how fresh the ‘wound’ was in her memory. So she left the whole thing as vague as possible.
”Yeeeeeeup... We’re gonna be stuck chatting for a while, that’s for sure. And none of it’s gonna be fun to talk about. But it needs to be done so it’ll be done...” Kisara quipped back, running a hand through her hair. ”And yeah, you got us straight the first time.” It wasn’t like it was all that difficult to guess who was who between them.
”I suppose we should get down to it. The sooner the better.” The steel dragon sighed to himself as he sat up. Alicia fidgeted a bit and grimaced, not liking where this was going one bit and looking like she wanted to hide from everything at the moment. Could anyone really blame her, though?

Sheesh, that mood soured pretty quick, didn't it? Resting his hands behind his head, Moeru's typical smile left his face for a more neutral expression, quickly taking in the tone of the room. The Mikemon had even handed the device over to Alicia - was there really something that bad going on?
"Seen the worst of it, haven't ya?" Giving a small breath out, he gave a smirk towards the spirit wielder: "Don't worry about a thing, then. You do what you need to do, right?" It may had been somewhat disappointing, but the tamer understood at least somewhat what was going on, and wouldn't press the bill.
The doctor, in the meantime, gave a nod to Kisara, then Sol. "Well, if Alicia's okay with me talking to you two about it," he'd briefly look in the spirit user's direction for confirmation, "Then we can get the two of you up to speed. Moeru, your appointment's not up for a few hours, so-"
"Aye, we'll roll back around, then!" With a two fingered salute, he walked off, the Deputymon tipping his hat as he turned to follow.
"Good kid." The cat's remark came with a shrug, as he led the three of them to the back...
... Right to the room that Alicia had spent the night. Instructing Alicia to take a seat off the side of the bed, the feline gave a nod: "Well, go ahead and show them your right arm." Giving her a moment to remove the bandages, the cat would start to explain: "I don't know how much of the detail you already know, but by my understanding, a Chaosdramon attempted to forcefully insert a Spirit Totem into her data. Based on her appearance before I treated her, well, it clearly wasn't done with any sort of tact in mind. Before I could start treatment, she'd already lost an arm and a leg to the spirit," the cat nodded towards the metal limbs, "And despite my best efforts, my only solution was to perfect the machine's process."
What did that mean, exactly? The cat sighed, shaking his head. "As it is, the spirit is permanently entwined with her fractal code."

Alicia sighed softly, not responding beyond that to Moeru’s comments. Yeah... she just needed to do whatever it took to... what? Live normally? Cope with her mutations? What even was she supposed to focus on first like this? She gave a quick nod to Mikemon when the cat sought confirmation from him. She trusted these two more than most people she knew, especially in their areas of expertise.
------------------------------------------------
After secluding themselves in the room Alicia had spent the night in, the redhead herself followed Dr. Mikemon’s quick instruction and sighed softly. It was like she was ten again, only the things going wrong with her were far, far more serious in nature. And the people getting brought up to speed on things weren’t related to her by blood, but that’s a minor thing. It was with a reluctance grimace that she undid the bandage, revealing the mutated arm to her advisors.
However, oddly enough, neither spirit seemed too riled up over the sight or the following cliff notes of what occurred as far as Alicia recalled and what the doctor had to do. Sol and Kisara shared a look between each other, and the ice maiden sighed while the steel dragon reached over to get a better look at the limb in question.
”To think it would go down like this...” Kisara mused to herself. ‘Like this’ though? The phrasing drew a curious and quite concerned look from Alicia. Perhaps she was referring to the attempted hunt as a whole, but the redhead got the feeling she meant something else.
”There’s nothing to be done about it now, though. What’s done is done and we can only go up from here.” The dragon shook his head. ”Still, given the alternative after the ambush... this I suppose was the best outcome we could’ve hoped for.”
“... It’s... more than a bit distressing how calm you guys are about this. Like you almost think this was meant to be...” Alicia suddenly commented. The two spirits quirked an eyebrow at her, but didn’t actually answer that comment. Yet, at least. Maybe they would a bit later.

Indeed, the tone of the two advisors had been somewhat of a surprise, such that even the Mikemon momentarily raised a brow. The Doctor knew that Alicia had just been through a traumatic experience, and probably more pain than she had been through than at any point in her life. She was devastated... so were these two trying to soften the blow for her? Or was it something else?
Dr. Mikemon didn't know, but his audible sigh soon filled the room. "Back on topic, she should be back every week for a month to check on her progress, then I'll want to see her every other month, just to get an update on her condition." That was his prescription, but the tone in his voice seemed to share with Alicia's exasperation. "At any rate, I should wrap up that paperwork..."
As he would move to leave, though, he'd stop at the entrance to room. "As someone whose pretty old myself, I understand a bit of the way you two think. Still," the cat sighed, "don't try and think of it 'in the grand scheme of things."
Whatever goal they had, the cat didn't care. He stepped out, the door clicking behind them, leaving those two to just mull over those words.

Sol shook his head and sighed heavily. ”There’s no ‘grand scheme’ nonsense at all in this. I was just hoping to wait until all of the totems were acquired before revealing things I’ve noticed.” Now what was the dragon going on about? ”But with what has occurred... at the very least I’ll need to fess up far more quickly then I find comfortable, especially given I’m not completely certain about my observations. And I’d hoped to not have to meddle too much until a choice could be made that she would not regret later down the line.”
“... Wait... I... I’m not getting what that’s all supposed to be about.” The red head spoke quietly. “W-What choice? To be part of the Digital World? I thought I’d made that choice when I first decided to stick around and go collecting these things...” All she got for her musings was Sol shaking his head some more, the dragon staying silent.
”One life warping ordeal at a time, okay? You’re not in any condition to listen to what we have to say about what we’ve kept under wraps lately.” Kisara answered back for Sol in this case. ”Definitely not so soon after what has happened to you. And maybe not for quite a long time after. Just... please trust us to know when you’ll be able to bear hearing it, okay?”
The ice maiden then got up and sat by Alicia, hugging the Spirit Wielder firmly. Kisara was always the more affectionate and openly expressive of the two with regards to more close concern. Not that the dragon didn’t care at all, just that his was more trying to be a stable pillar that could be held on to for support and a guiding hand when someone was or felt lost.
”... For what it may mean to you, Alicia, I would’ve done something about this immediately if I could...”
Tears gathered in the redhead’s eyes, looking at Sol for a brief moment. The dragon had dipped his head a bit and closed his eyes. It was something at least. But she let the comment hang in favor of burying her face into Kisara’s shoulder and sobbing softly. To think it could all come crashing down so suddenly...

No grand scheme, huh? Then why was anything being withheld at all?
Before the Mikemon could give a remark, though, Alicia was quick to voice her own concern. Yes, just what were her two 'guardians' hiding from her? If either Sol or Kisara looked to the Doctor, they'd see a stern, disapproving expression on his face. Ultimately, however, it wasn't his choice to make - and at the very least, Kisara finally gave her a shoulder to cry on.
"... Take all the time you need." He saved his words - it was not the time or the place for him to add anything else. Silently, the feline stepped outside, the door clicking behind him. Just a little bit down the hall, though, the cat balled one of his paws up, and slammed the side of his fist against the wall.
Tch... Why put the fate of the world on her? Nothing about this sat right with him, not at all.

With the cat doctor clearly having had enough upon leaving, Sol sighed softly as Alicia continued to let her tears fall upon the ice maiden holding her close. That could certainly have been handled better. And everyone that had been in that room knew it too. The smack of the doctor’s fist on the wall had not gone unnoticed either, not by the steel dragon at least.
”... Have you ever felt like there was no clear cut path laid out before you, Alicia?” The dragon suddenly asked. The addressed redhead in turn jerked and looked up, already have tear stains on her face. Kisara, meanwhile, wheeled around with eyes wide in shock.
”Wha- Now!? Sol what in the universe has gotten into you!?” She tried to keep her voice down, but even she could still feel the fevered pitch of sound rise up. ”With all that’s happened to her in the past day, all that has been done, the sheer amount chaos in the fight itself, and her mental state right now...!” Kisara bit off what she was saying there, wincing. As advisors and almost ever present near the young wielder’s mind, of course they would become almost immediately aware of her psychological state.
”And how many times have we been wrong, Kisara...?” Sol’s voice grew lower, a growl of self-loathing coming to the front. How many times have I failed to see the right picture, and made an ill-fated move because of it? Far too many times has waiting been the worst call to make. It nearly was here as well.”
“C-Can we not go into this kind of spat right now?” Alicia poked in carefully, shuddering under the tension in the air between the two spirits. “And almost every day, but... isn’t that normal?”
”No! We’re not having this conversation now! Sol, you know all to well those times were not your fault! What you did or didn’t do only had a small effect on the outcome, acting when you didn’t or vice versa would’ve only bought a few more seconds. As fast as you were even you couldn’t have intervened that quickly...” Kisara was having none of this it seemed, and looked intent on standing her ground on the matter.
”My point is that I’ve made this mistake before, and it has impacted the results. We don’t know if those few seconds mattered or not, and we never will know. But you and I both know that in the right moment, a few seconds can change everything. Especially for one who forges her own fate!” Sol shot back with a grunt, the ice maiden caught off guard by the last line in particular. He was always a clever word smith when he put his mind to it, as he just proved now.
“‘Her’ own fate...? Me...?” Alicia asked softly. Kisara on the other hand actually got honestly angry now, getting up and attempting to slap the steel dragon. The attempt was caught with almost casual ease and Kisara growled in frustration.
”It’s too soon, Sol! There’s no arguing that! So why of all times are you deciding to rush things now!?”
”Because I couldn’t bear the guilt of another life lost because I stayed silent too long...” Both women in the room flinched at that. Alicia did so from shock at such a grim admission. Kisara on the other hand averted her gaze, looking down at the floor in what was almost certainly guilt, her arm slumping to hang by Sol’s own hand. ”We also can’t deny that it has been proven with this catastrophe. She should not have walked out of there alive at all. That she did, even in such a tattered and broken state, is proof that what we’d hoped wasn’t true has indeed come to pass.”
”...” Kisara hung her head at that, clenching her free hand into a fist. ”... I’m so tired of having to worry about you like this. About how you always jump into the thick of things. And now knowing that-...”
”I know, Kisara... I do know...” Sol looked up and over at Alicia, moving to speak more, only to pause when Alicia held up her hand. ”mm...?”
“I... I don’t think I want to know right now... Th-This... I...” The red head seemed to shuddered as she stumbled over her words, edging away. “Just... What am... no... please... stay quiet for a bit...?” Alicia’s last request came out as such a meek and terrified question.
The dragon spirit nodded, and held his piece. No one knew better what they were ready to hear than ones own self, he had found out in his life time. It was something he’d learned in the most painful way possible.

An important thing to know about Mikemon's hospital was that the walls were quite thick and soundproof. The privacy and rest of Mikemon's patience was of great importance, and whether due to data compression, Chrome Digizoid insulation, or some sort of digital blessing on the walls, it was very hard to kick up enough fuss to disturb the rest of his patients. It was a necessity for being a doctor in a city as noisy as Whitewater, and it was also quite good for making sure arguments in the waiting room didn't grate on any patients.
Despite this, the important conversation raging between Kisara and Sol was still loud and frantic enough to slip through the door somewhat. It was near-unintelligible murmuring, but that was all a certain wandering imp needed to hear.
If it wasn't for him being terrified for Alicia's health, he probably would've respected that Sol and Kisara were a bit busy right now and left the poor girl alone to avoid making her life any more complicated. This was some serious extenuating circumstance, though, and Isaac didn't want to miss what could be his one chance of talking to Alicia after all of this time. He nervously looked around to make sure nobody was watching, then stood on his tiptoes to give the door a few quiet, rapid knocks.
"Hey," he whispered, aiming for the keyhole with his words to try and make sure he'd be heard. "Alicia, open up. It's me. Can we talk? Please?"
With the worry in his words, how could she possibly say no?
