A Comforting Place [Haru]

Once again Toki finds himself in Miyashita Park in the middle of the evening. There was a lot about this place that brought him peace after particularly stressful days or just when he needs time to rest. His backpack was next to his feet. Inside were various notebooks and a couple of new volumes of manga that he had picked up. Not long after obtaining his Human Spirit, Toki's scanner had seemed to unlock new functions. One of which was a useful portal to get back to Shibuya instantly. If he used it at home he'd be able to comfortably go to and from the Digital World in a much more convenient manner.
Toki was sitting comfortably under a tree as he wrote in one of his notebooks. He mused to himself a bit "The sand swept sandstone...no, no using the word sand like that is too repetitive, um..." he seemed to be writing a story of some sort. "The sand swept stones of the temple steps..." he beamed happily, satisfied with that word choice as he continued writing. His recent adventures in the Digital World really inspired him to write. The first section of the paper was written in a Haiku.
Temple forgotten by time Hid seething anger A peaceful freedom at last
"You're writing about Antylamon, aren't you?" he spirit said, out loud.
Toki winced a bit "H-hey, watch out. You don't want people to hear you..." he said.
"Ah, forgive me. I've simply...forgotten that my voice can be projected now. I am so used to only you hearing me. But are we not the only ones here at the moment?" the spirit asked.
"Well, yeah...sorry, I guess I'm just paranoid. If people found out about this, I don't know what would happen. Can't really do much good if we're being monitored and studied 24/7." he said as he continued writing.
"I understand. However, I'm certain you could come to the Digital World in the event something bad happens here. You have made many a friend with the residents so I'm sure they would love to see you more often."
Toki blushed a little "You think...?" he looked up at the starry sky "I'm glad you think so. I don't know how I'd adjust to life in the Digital World, but I appreciate the thought." he smiled.
"You're a good man. I'm certain you would make many friends. You are rather good at telling stories too. I'd love to read some of your older work." his spirit said happily. He was glad to support this young man through everything. Their adventure was really just beginning, but the two of them had a very strong bond already.

Gaps between exploring the Digital World and resting in her own world seemed relatively short compared to her time in the Digital World. Perhaps it was just how wonky time in the Digital World flowed compared to the real world, but it made it somewhat easy to just get lost exploring this new world. If anything, it was kinda hard for her to just relax back into what was supposed to be her normal life. Her reality. The girl was enjoying her fleeting time in the human world with a stroll down nighttime Miyashita Park. Sure it wasn't some magical wonderland filled with creatures of all shapes and sizes, but the calm to the otherwise completely normal park was genuinely refreshing to Haru. As she strolled, she heard a soft buzzing sound from her pocket; the helmet-wearing girl pausing briefly as pulled out a D-3 with an orange grip, an LED sprite of a small feline-like Digimon on-screen. Pressing a button, a voice soon played. "Haru, when are we going back to my world? It's boring in here."Haru just semed to shake her head, not ready to simply just jump back into the fantastical world of Digimon yet. The calm of her own world was not something she was willing to abandon so soon. "You have to understand Tawna, I can't just go and dick off to the Digital World whenever I feel like it. My family would get suspicious...""They DON'T need to know." the D-3 spoke, though seemed to buzz slightly within Haru's hand. "...? Oy, you hear some bloke or something?"Haru seemed to pause momentarily, she unsure what the Digimon in her Digivice was talking about... but now that she took the time to really stay still and listen, she did hear someone talking to... someone else? Curiosity drew the black-haired girl closer to the sound of the conversation, she not quite able to make out just what was being said... but she soon spotted a tall, but young-looking brown-haired man sitting by a large tree; they seemingly had been writing something earlier. Haru's eyes slightly widened, she pocketing her Digivice as she walked forward to the man. How surprising to see someone this late at night too... "Hey... Nice evening I guess, huh?" she ended up speaking, just trying to start up a friendly conversation.

Toki slammed his notebook shut at the sound of the person who approached him. He was awfully self-conscious about his writing. He turned his head to see the girl walk towards him and ask him about the evening "H-huh? Ah, yeah, it's really nice out tonight. Peaceful too." he said with a soft smile "I didn't expect to see too many people out and about right now...so sorry if I was a bit surprised." he ran a hand through his hair nervously.
"Oh, right...I should introduce myself. My name's Toki Akiyama...it's nice to meet you." he bowed his head slightly. "I come here a lot to just rest my mind. A lot of stuff has been happening lately and having somewhere to unwind does wonders for me." he didn't go into detail since he didn't know if this person even knew what Digimon were. He froze for a moment, though. What if she heard his conversation with his spirit? She could think he's insane, and to him that was probably the best case scenario.
Actually the best case scenario would be that she knew about Digimon, but that was beside the point. "I was just wrapping up some studying for my classes. Things are kind of busy this time of year for university..." he sighed. He wasn't entirely lying, but he had gotten his studying done far before now.
His spirit was somewhat visible and leaned against the tree. Its form was that of an Antylamon, though it was slightly shorter than most of the same type "Are you going to read more chapters of your...what was it...manga, yes? I would like that very much as the story kept stopping before it got to key points. Devious design, but genius and thrilling. Lovely art, too." he chuckled.
Toki glanced back at his spirit and gulped a bit "Uh..." he sighed heavily. His spirit realized he spoke out loud and was visible. "Oh...I am visible again, aren't I?" he asked. Toki bit his knuckle slightly and looked back at the girl "This...wow, how to explain." his heart threatened to burst from his chest from sheer nerves alone.

Tonight WAS rather peaceful actually... It was a calm that Haru nowadays could appreciate. All she could hope though was that it wasn't a calm before the storm or something like that. "Not a lot of people really come out at night like this. Shame really. I think anyone's life could be improved if they just kinda, you know? Take the time to settle down?" she ended up commenting, giving a warm smile as she gave Toki a nod. "Haru Toriya! It's great to meet you Toki-san! And I can get that sentiment, a lot of stuff has been happening on my end too recently, so it's good to just..."
She paused as she suddenly noticed the lapine spirit that had materialized, she for a moment having a minor heart attack. Well... if it was consolation, it seems even THEY realized that they weren't meant to be visible. Mild shock aside, Haru at least seemed to calm down quickly, if only because she had a better idea nowadays of what to expect when dealing with the weird and supernatural.
She gazed at Toki, giving him a somewhat reassuring smile. "Let me take a guess, Digimon stuff?" she ended up asking. Good thing she was in on that kinda stuff too, else that could have been really bad just there.
Her D-3 began buzzing wildly, she pulling it out as she pressed a button... a small, two foot tall maine coon Digimon materializing from the Digivice. "Bloody well knew it." they grumpily spoke, crossing their arms as they stared at Toki and the Antylamon spirit. "Another one of those spirit wielders...? How common are you folk to begin with these days...?" they commented, staring at the pair.

At this point, his spirit had vanished from sight and Toki let out a heavy, relieved sigh when Haru mentioned Digimon. "Yes, it's Digimon stuff. You have no idea how glad I am that you know about this." he said with a nervous laugh. "It's nice to meet you, Haru. Sorry if my spirit gave you a scare. He's still getting used to his new form. I recently got back from an adventure over there and I guess I got a bit of a power boost recently."
He smiled a bit when Haru mentioned that she could relate to his sentiment. Now that he knew she was involved with the whole Digimon situation, he figured Haru knew exactly what he meant by a lot of stuff recently happening. A lot could happen in the Digital World, after all. To him, someone could be there for a day and come back with so much to tell due to how time worked.
Toki looked around when Haru brought out her Digimon. It looked like they were pretty much alone here "You can come out." he said, and his spirit made themselves visible again for the time being. "What gave it away?" he asked when the Digimon pointed him out as a Spirit User. He was genuinely curious so he would be a bit more careful from here on out. "I'm a spirit user, yes. And...well...I know two others with the same powers as me. Then again, I've met a lot of different kinds of people. I've met Digimon by themselves, I've met humans and Digimon partners...some even have two partners." he explained.
His spirit looked rather happy and gave them a warm expression "How lucky that we meet others who know of the Digital World. I hope you will be good friends with Toki." he bowed politely.
The spirit's politeness never failed to put a smile on Toki's face "I hope so too. When it comes to what happens to people like us, having more friends is a pretty good idea if you ask me. Here's hoping we can help each other out! Though...admittedly I'm not very good at fighting yet...even when I got my first totem, I got completely outclassed by its defender and had to talk it down instead of fight..."
His spirit tilted his head slightly and looked a little sad for Toki "You should see that as a good thing, Toki. You were able to solve a difficult conflict through words and not combat. That is something to be proud of."
Toki looked up at his spirit and gave them a soft smile "Thanks...I appreciate that." he looked back at Haru and her Digimon "Anyway, how long have you two known each other? I'm always up for listening to what others have experienced."

It was awfully convenient that they both knew about Digimon, cause otherwise that could have been a sticky situation.. It at least made her feel more comfortable now, she relaxing slightly. "Oh, that's good... Can you imagine trying to explain that to someone else? Man, that'd be one hell of a mess. I couldn't imagine what it'd be like to try and explain to my parents or sister about Tawna!" she ended up remarking, giving an awkward laugh.
The Meicoomon seemed to grumble something unintelligibly, though they soon took a deep breath as they glanced at Toki and his lapine spiritual-guide. "A Digimon is pretty easy to smell out... but they are all substance, no form. If I were to describe them, it would be like trying to sniff out air." the Champion level ended up describing the feeling, nodding to themselves slightly. "It's not the first time we've seen humans wielding Spirits either."
Regardless if they were a Spirit Wielder or not, Haru frankly seemed thrilled to meet someone else she could share some aspect of her life with now. Digimon wasn't exactly something she could talk about with just anyone after all. "I sure hope so! To be honest, I'm happy to meet you two! You really can't ever have too many friends... though Tawna's not yet figured that out yet."
The Meicoomon shrugged. "I've been more the type to think with her claws than with her heart so..." they deadpanly spoke, their expression hard to tell if they were mad or just didn't seem to care.
Haru at the very least could sympathesize with Toki. She wasn't exactly able to fight too; after all, she was just human. Still, it was interesting to hear that he had earned his most recent totem without conflict... Who said words couldn't be one's sword after all? "Wow... That's honestly really cool! I mean, it's one thing I guess to go and kick someone's ass, but you used reasoning to resolve the problem entirely!" she gushed, her eyes lighting up slightly. "That ALONE is really freakin' cool!"
"Words, words, la la la." Tawna dully sung, a hint of sarcasm in their voice.
Haru on the otherhand just seemed to sigh, rubbing her forehead from a mild headache she was getting. "Err... don't mind her. That's just how she is... Tawna and I've not known eachother too long. Like... two weeks now? To be honest, I've not really even done much in the Digital World... just kind of a tourist right now I guess."

Toki shuddered slightly when Haru mentioned how bad it would be if someone else found out "All I know is that my father would not approve of me running off to some parallel world to meet people and do battle with the inhabitants. He never liked me focusing on anything other than studying or the dojo's style." he sighed. There was a pang of guilt that rose up when he said that, something that his spirit picked up on, but decided not to interrupt their conversation. "At least it's not too difficult to keep Digimon out of sight...most of the time." he said in a somewhat teasing tone to his spirit. His spirit simply laughed lightheartedly.
He scratched the back of his head at Tawna's words "I suppose that's fair. It's not the most outlandish thing I've heard about the Digital World." he said. "I'm starting to get the hang of everything though. I'm motivated to getting better, anyway. The sooner I do, the more I can help everyone out if they need it."
His spirit tilted his head at Tawna's words about thinking with her claws as opposed to her heart "There is great value in placing equal importance in strength of body and strength of heart. The body might win physical conflicts, but there are far more difficult battles that only words and empathy can resolve."
Toki blushed a little bit at Haru's sudden compliments towards him and resolving a problem through reason "O-oh...well...thank you! It makes me happy that being able to get through something with talking can be seen as cool...I'm not sure where that Digimon is now, but I hope he can be happy. I don't know why, but I just sort of felt a connection with the Digimon and why they were so angry. I simply wanted to help them get past that anger and bitterness." he said.
He simply chuckled at Tawna's behavior "It's no problem. Everyone's going to have their own personality and responses to certain things. As long as it doesn't hurt anybody, right?" he said with a warm smile. "Well hey, if you ever need an ally in the Digital World, I would be more than happy to accompany you from time to time."
His spirit sat down next to the tree "If you have any questions about The Digital World in general, you can ask me as well. Part of my memory is still fragmented in the other totems Toki and I must find, but I'm slowly piecing it back together."

"Oh man... I can feel ya. My mom would FLIP if she knew I had Tawna. If she knew what they did to the neighbor's chihuahua..." Haru ended up responding regarding relatives finding about their secrets, her tone going quiet when she began to talk about... that incident. It was a good thing the small dog was not harmed, but still was way too scary for Haru's own comfort.
"Damn thing wouldn't stop yapping. I just got creative with duct tape." the Meicoomon deadpanly added in, a look of apathy on Tawna's face. They seemed mildly uncomfortable about Toki's spirit's small speech about a suggesting a balance of heart and body. It was too alien a concept; as much as she disliked it, her own heart was exceptionally weak. "... Haru for now acts as my heart, for my own is too wild."
Haru just seemed to sigh slightly, taking a seat down by Toki while Tawna kept her distance by standing by the tree. "I think that just means you have a big heart, Toki! Humans AND Digimon seem to resort to violence a lot, so I am glad that people like you can at least show them that at least there is always another way." she spoke as she gave a warm smile, her cheeks flush. She almost made a verbal squee of joy to hear Toki's offer, her eyes lighting up. "Really? Oh gosh, yes! I'd love to have ya along some time! If you ever need a friend or some help, know that I am open!" she spoke... already scrambling into her bag to get a bag to offer her cell phone number to the young man.
Tawna just seemed to roll her eyes at her partner's overly-energetic behavior, letting out an audible sigh. Here we go again, she thought to herself as she glanced back at the spirit. "I have been aiding Haru in exploring the Digital World, but I admit that my own knowledge is rusty and not up-to-date with the Digital World's current locales. I had only been alive once again to reach Rookie level, then I came to the real world to find my tamer. We never officially met one another properly until I had Digivolved to Champion level." she ended up explaining, offering some insight at least to what the girl knew. "She knows at least the basics."

Toki shuddered a bit when she mentioned a chihuahua and feared the worst for the poor thing...then Tawna mentioned duct tape. It seemed the dog was fine, if not possibly traumatized. He was a little unnerved by Tawna's apathy over it, but shrugged it off. He noted how uncomfortable she was after his spirit spoke to her "You have your own way of doing things. It doesn't make it wrong." he said. It was all he would say on that, since he didn't want to get too preachy or anything.
His spirit bowed politely "He is right." he stated. He looked overjoyed and clasped his large hands together when Haru praised Toki "He does have a big heart, doesn't he? Even when I was a full Digimon, I shared much of his view. That was so long ago, though...to see how humans have affected the dynamics of the Digital World...it's fascinating. But yes! There is always another way to turn to."
Toki was flustered as usual at all of the praise and ran a hand through his hair. "Heh...well, thanks. Both of you." he said. He soon regained his composure and nodded at Haru "Of course!" he took out his cellphone and the two of them exchanged numbers "And...there. Added your number. You should meet some of my friends and acquaintances. There's Tadao, Edgar, K, Alicia..." he counted them on his fingers "There's a lot of people to meet is what I'm getting at." he said with a chuckle.
Toki's spirit nodded at Tawna "Hm. I understand. It will be a learning experience for us both, then. Champion is currently the level Toki and I can reach as well." he explained.
"I barely know more than the basics, but I'll do what I can to help out. There's a lot of dangerous stuff out there...part of me is worried I won't last very long if I keep going at the pace I am...but I have to keep going. This is important to me now." Toki said. He looked determined despite his hesitations and insecurities. "However it will be a couple of days before I'm able to head back to the Digital World. I have university stuff here to manage before I go on any more adventures. Thank goodness for the time shift...huh...while I'm here in the Human World, I wonder what my Digimon friends have been doing...I hope they're okay." he mused.

"So wait; you WERE a Digimon before, but now you are just like... a ghost? How does that work for Digimon anyway?" Haru ended up asking Toki's spirit, actually somewhat inrigued. She knew Digimon were made of data and could be reborn, but could they linger as a ghost of some sort? Digimon were so odd.
"Beats me really, but I certainly would not want to be a formless spirit." Tawna ended up adding in, glancing at the Antylamon spirit. Spirits were an especially odd concept, though at the very least this one was far less annoying than Kisara was.
As Haru exchanged phone numbers, she was shocked to hear that Toki knew some familiar faces! She remembered Alicia and K quite well, so it was wonderful to hear that Toki knew them too. "Ohhhh, we've met Alicia and K! Wow, small world! Who would have thought we'd both know the same people!" she exclaimed, patting Toki on the back. "And it's alright! I bet everyone's been through that! Sucking is the first step to... uh, not sucking!"
"That's one way to put it." the Meicoomon somewhat snidely commented, wrapping her feelers around herself like scarves.
Haru could at least relate to Toki in wanting to at least relax for a few days, though at the same time she could understand why he'd be worried. 3 days here in the human world was like... a month in the Digital World or something? Time wasn't congruent between the two worlds, which was somewhat a blessing at least. A lot could happen during that time, so there was good reason to be somewhat concerned. "It's alright, I think it's healthy to take some time and relax back here. You can spend quite a while over there in the Digital World, but a few days back home won't kill anyone. Just trust that everyone back there will be fine!"

The spirit crossed his arms and contemplated for a moment "I'm not entirely sure myself. I can't remember the circumstances of my supposed death or why I wasn't just reborn. I don't even remember the later parts of my life. Perhaps I was around for so long that my data couldn't properly reform itself...all I fully understand is that aspects of my being were condensed into the spirit totems and remained dormant until Toki entered the Digital World." he said. He seemed rather understanding of Tawna's comment "Yes, I understand why it would be...disconcerting for others and that they would not wish to be like this...for a time I felt the same way...though time worked...oddly while I was adrift. I saw bits and pieces of what happened around the Digital World, but otherwise everything flicked by in an instant...before I knew it, I found Toki."
Toki smiled brightly when she mentioned the people she had met "Well what are the odds? That's great! K helped me get my first totem so I owe a lot to her. She's strong and very supportive. I'm lucky to have met her when I did." he said. He rubbed the back of his head at her attempts to comfort him "Yeah, I suppose you could look at it like that...I appreciate you saying so. I've already made it a commitment to keep trying."
He nodded at Haru reassuring him that his friends will be fine "You're right, and if on some chance they need help, I'll go to them and help them out to the best of my abilities. At my current state it will be more emotional support, but I suppose that's better than nothing." he said. "The Digital World...it's really opened my eyes to a lot of things. I became more open with others and began to be more open with myself. It's...a work in progress, but I'm doing more to define who I am recently. I've been reading manga more recently and catching up with my writing. It's nice to be able to pursue things because I want to."
His spirit looked happy "Everyone should pursue their happiness. I'm glad you are finding yours. It can be daunting, but you've made great strides since we've met. And you should be more confidence in your fighting. You are still new to combat, but your history in martial arts has helped you greatly."

Haru patiently listened to the lapine's explanation, it overally a rather surreal thought. Having yourself split up into totems? How weird to even think about! Still, it was great to hear they were in the process of helping one another finding these totems! Friendships form from some of the weirdest circumstances it seems. "Oh! So it's like, you guys are on a quest to like find these totems to get your memories back? That's actually really cool when you think about it! It's like a big scavenger hunt across the Digital World!" she ended up responding, laughing a bit awkwardly to herself as she scratched the back of her head. "Heh, yeesh... Ya know, everything about this sounds like all some weird anime if I had to describe it. Not just you, but like me too. A month or so ago I didn't even realize Digimon existed... or that Tawna was stalking me for a year."
"Silently protecting." the Meicoomon corrected her tamer, earning her only a slight sigh from the gogglehead.
"Ehhhh, not really." she ended up somewhat snidely commenting at Tawna (who returned a shrug). Still, she had to agree with Toki that despite how the introduction to Digimon and the Digital World has shaken up her life... at the same time, Haru felt more alive than ever. "I'll be honest with you, all of this has also been so new to me, but I feel happier than I've ever been! To be honest, I kinda haven't had anyone I could call a friend for a while until this furball came into my life."
"Hmph. It's not THAT bad being solitary." Tawna ended up commenting, though at the same time they seemed to figure that answer was not exactly normal it seemed among humans... or even other Digimon. "Then again... I guess I can't say I've ever been happy either, so what do I know?"
"That's cause your a mega grump, Tawna." Haru smiled at the Champion level (they wrapping their feelers around their face slightly as they turned their attention away from the girl). Haru laughed as she glanced back at Toki, a warm smile on her face. "I admit, Tawna ain't the nicest kitty around... but I think we're good friends even then! I just kinda wish she didn't raid the cabinets at night. I kinda had to like take the fall for why we were missing two cans of tuna since my mom noticed." she spoke, snorting slightly to herself. "Makes me glad not all cats have opposable digits... Though it does make me wonder what our relationship would be like if we were in you and your partner's position."

Toki smiled at her summation of his spirit's explanation "That's essentially what it is now that you say it like that. He gets his memories back and I can access stronger and stronger forms...though I haven't spirit evolved into my new state. I hope I can handle it...it was hard enough adjusting to Turuiemon...next time I might not be lucky enough to get a situation that can be resolved with words alone." he said. His eyes widened a bit when she mentioned how long Tawna was following her "A year? A whole year? Out of curiosity...why didn't you show yourself to her sooner?"
There had to be some reason, and Haru's reaction to Tawna saying she was silently protecting her only made that more apparent. Toki nodded, relating to Haru about the friend situation "I can relate. I didn't really have that many friends. People were usually too intimidated to talk to the weirdly tall guy who looked like he was tired all the time." he said with a sigh. "Though...ever since I met my spirit, I've been meeting a lot of people that have been a positive influence on me. It's...kind of insane how much this has helped me despite the difficulties that came with it."
His spirit thought about the Antylamon back in the desert ruins when Tawna claimed it wasn't so bad being solitary "For a time, maybe...solitude is when you can reflect on yourself and be free to think for yourself without outside influence...but I don't think anyone can handle solitude forever. It can eat away at you after a time...I've seen that first hand. If I may say, I believe you and Haru help each other in ways you may not see yet. Give it time." he smiled softly, content with his advice.
Toki couldn't help but laugh a little bit at their interactions once more "She's definitely got a lot of personality. Raiding the cabinets though? That must be rough...better hope she doesn't make too much noise and gets her cover blown one of these days." he said. It was mostly in jest, but he was sure she understood the seriousness of it as well.
He and his spirit thought about Haru's musing for a moment before Toki spoke up "As far as interactions go, that's hard to judge. In some ways it would be the same if Tawna was whole enough to speak with you. Less cabinet raiding that's for sure, but I can only imagine how different it would be for you personally, Haru. Instead of you giving advice to Tawna or helping her power up, you would actually be Tawna and have to learn to fight as her. By some kind of instinct you'll understand how to fight, but adjusting to the strain on your body and mind would take some time. Communicating with them is largely the same, though I think spirit users are more in tune with the thoughts of their spirits. When I got my totem, I remember seeing flashes of memories that weren't my own, like I was seeing through the eyes of who my spirit used to be. It's a bit surreal..."
He realized he was rambling a bit "Sorry about that. The short of it is, I'm not entirely sure how it would affect your relationship with each other aside from differences in battle and some shared memories."

Tawna seemed to drift her gaze slightly away as she was asked about why she had spent so long to even confront Haru directly. "Never thought it necessary frankly. I knew I had to protect the girl, but that was it. I... I don't get the whole friendship schtick still." she ended up commenting, rather truthful how she interpreted things. It frankly was rather frustrating that she couldn't either, and she didn't even know why.
Haru let out a cute giggle, frankly rather surprised that even Toki shared the same kinda fate as she did. How was that even possible even... they were so nice! Not like she was; he had no excuse to be mistreated like that. "Well jokes on them, you seem really rad Toki! I'm so happy that you have friends now, and I hope we can be too!" she gleefully spoke, smiling. Friendships could form from some of the weirdest circumstances it seems. "Tawna is a lil' rough around the edges, but I know she won't do something too reckless. We'll have each other's backs!"
Haru did pause to listen to Toki's own thoughts and explanations to just how being a Spirit Wielder would pan out. How bizarre to even think about, especially because Haru had no idea just quite how it would feel. The idea to be able to fight on her own seemed cool, but it also sounded far more challenging than the role she played currently. Tawna did all the fighting, she stayed in the background and acted as a cheerleader, which while she was fine with; she did somewhat wish she could play a more active role. "Gee, that's surreal to even think about... I mean, it goes to show that you have a lot of talent Toki since you are learning to harness your partner's power, but I wish at times I could help Tawna."
Tawna seemed to shrug, she leaning against the tree. "I'd prefer for you to not involve yourself though. Leave conflict to the Digimon... or those who can at least parrot them."

His spirit thought for a moment, resting his chin against his large palm "Oh I don't know about that, Tawna. There's something within you that sees it. You seem close with Haru and in the end that's the base idea for friendship. You know more than you give yourself credit for." he said. He wanted to help as much as he could. Being supportive was in his nature, especially when others were struggling with something. He tried not to be too overbearing about it, though.
Toki felt a little self-conscious, but appreciated how honest Haru was being about what she thought of him "I appreciate that. Really. If you ask me, we're friends already. We have a lot of adventures ahead of us, I just know it. Maybe one day, whenever I get a signal for the next totem, you'd like to help me get it? It'd be kind of a journey, I'm sure, but when K helped me get my first one we became even closer friends thanks to her support."
He chuckled a bit when she described Tawna "I don't mind her at all. As long as she protects you and cares about your safety, that's all that matters to me." he said with a smile. "There are all kinds of people, so it just makes sense that there are all kinds of Digimon, right?"
Toki knew full well how surreal it was to talk about the whole spirit user business, so he expected Haru's reaction to it. Once more he blushed when she complimented him "There's still a lot I don't know, but I do my best. Antylamon and I work hard together. The next step on my journey is to adjust to our Champion form. And I'm sure you do plenty for Tawna."
His smile dropped when Tawna said 'parrot.' "...Ah..." he looked a little downtrodden at what she said. "I suppose...yeah. I'm really little more than someone pretending, aren't I?" he sighed.
His spirit approached him "Toki...no, you're so much more than that. You are the best aspects of human and Digimon. I know you've been struggling with who you are in both worlds, but you have a place here and in the Digital World. Never forget that." he said. Toki rubbed his arm a bit, managing a weak smile, though was still clearly a little bothered.
