The door of a rather dingy, cramped and cheap apartment creaks open.
Entering is someone with a gloomy expression, that of someone who, despite her initial impressions, may be just as horrible as some of the rumors she herself heard. But those days were behind her, she thinks to herself, the emerald haired woman making a long, drawn out sigh. This place was a mess, but it was her new home, at least for now.
Immediately, the green haired, tall woman gets to cleaning up the apartment and wheeling in her suitcases full of clothes and the like. Sure, it wasn't the messiest, but the last thing she needs is to get sick somewhere new. Thankfully, there isn't that much in the way of trash strewn about, mostly just old papers and bags, nothing particularly disgusting. The last thing Alice wants to deal with is something unexpected, even if the regrets are already beginning to pile up. What a dump, she thinks to herself. Some things simply didn't make sense for a place such as this. The almost bombed out looking wreckage of the school reminds her of a war zone, blurry photographs and images of strange animals... Ridiculous.
She's snapped out of her thoughts by a slight orange light blinking in a dark corner. For a while, she just gazes at it, at first expecting it to be a small flickering candle, but as she slowly approaches, it's clear that it's anything but. She picks the object up and inspects it in her hands, suspecting it to be some sort of outdated cell phone at first, but no, that wouldn't make sense... There's too few buttons, and even then, they don't make sense. What kind of phone would have a circular directional pad?
"Strange... Did the previous owners leave it here?" She says to herself flatly, as if this is something she expected. Things were a total mess here, after all. Something like this wouldn't be too out of the ordinary... Right?
The strange woman soon sets it beside her and sits down somewhere clean before taking something out of her bag, an old, heavily used notebook with the name "Alice" on it... Which she quickly puts back in for the second one, a cleaner, new one, a blank slate, much like the situation she's in now... Somewhere new calls for a new journal, she thinks to herself as she takes out a pen, and begins to write inside it:
Alice then begins to sketch out the peculiar device quietly, the screen displaying a small creature with no limbs, save for wing-like ears, the strange critter looking cute, if not more than a little bit sinister. The silence is once again broken by Alice, running her hands through her green hair with a sigh. "It might just be some kind of obscure toy..."
Her words are interrupted by the sound of something in the bathroom, banging on the door as if by accident. She immediately glares at the bathroom door, and slowly stands up to approach the door, opening it slowly to reveal...

Day one, and I already feel second thoughts about this place.
It's a dump, nowhere near as pleasant as I thought it would be.
It's like something unfathomable happened here.
Though that would be ridiculous.
My apartment, though far from pleasant right now, isn't the worst.
A bit of cleaning and maybe one or two repairs if I'm unlucky,
and it should be good.
I also found this odd gadget in the corner.
It looks like an old phone of some kind,
but it doesn't seem to be any kind of phone I know of.
