(The prompt for my Wild Card entry is from MPC39, the one where an egg is hatched and raised: digimonforumrp.freeforums.net/thread/3357/mpc-39-hatching-season

A normal Saturday afternoon in the Digital Field Club Offices had begun. Yukiko and her partner Mizu poked their heads in to check on Usako, their Team Guardian, who very much lived in these office spaces. The Calcumon was sitting at the desk, and waved at the two as they entered.
"Hello and welcome. What can I do for you?"
Yukiko entered nervously.
"A-a-ah, w-w-we just wanted to see how things are..."
"And I wanted to see how my favourite robot is doing!~"
Usako chuckled humourlessly at Mizu's quip.
"I am quite well, thank you."
Yukiko let her eyes wander through the room. They stopped and fixed on an egg that laid on a small pillow on a desk behind Usako?
"Oh, w-w-w-what's that?"
The Calcumon turned around.
"That? One of the team guys brought it in. I'd leave it alone, I have not yet determined what it contains."
Yukiko's reasoning told her that that was a good idea. Her curiousity told her that a small look couldn't hurt...
As she approached the egg and bent over it, it suddenly began to crack. She yipped and fell backwards onto her backside.
"Oh sweet merciful Dominimon, what have you done???"
Usako whirled around to give her an accusatory look. Yukiko did not meet her gaze, too fascinated by the cracking egg. Mizu tried to get a good look too, but she was too short.
"Hey, lemme see, lemme see!"
The cracks spread, and the egg burst open. Inside was a little, purple blob Digimon, with a singular orange eye. It blinked, and looked around.
"Oh, h-h-h-how cute..."
"Lemme see, I wanna see my new sister!"
"Y-y-your new wha-"
Before Yukiko could say more the little purple blob jumped onto Yukiko's face, happily chirping and purring and latching on. Yukiko stumbled backwards, whirled around, and tried to get it off. Mizu laughed.
"Hahahaha, energetic little thing, ain't it?"
Eventually, the blob let go, and hopped onto her head. There, it rubbed a cheek against her hair, chirped some more, and said "Kiiiii~".
This made Yukiko blush.
"A-a-a-ah, th-that's really cute..."
"Haha, it must think you're his mother!"
"M-m-m-mother!?!?! R-r-r-really? I-i-i-is that true, Usako?"
The Calcumon did not reply to that. Rather, she had put on a terrified expression, and grabbed a net from the toolshed.
"O-o-o-ok, d-d-don't move, I'll c-c-catch it, and th-th-then we can safely dispose of it..."
"D-d-dispose of it? This is a baby!"
"Do you know what baby that is? That's a Kuramon! It grows up into one of the most calamitous forces of nature the Digital World knows! It cannot be allowed to exist! Now hold still..."
The Calcumon jumped, but Mizu tackled her out of the air.
"Hey, leave my little brother alone!"
"Urgh, b-b-brother? Are you insane!? That thing is a danger to us all!"
"So's Dio, technically, but you trust him!"
"What does that have to do wi- ugh, whatever. if you two want to doom the Digital World, fine, I am washing my hands clean of this affair! Now get out before it eats my database!"
Before the two could object, they were thrown out of the office by Usako, who locked the door behind them. The little Kuramon chirped happily, cleanly it considered this to be a fun little adventure.
There was a bit of silence before Yukiko spoke up.
"W-w-well, I guess we'll have to raise a child together..."
About an hour later, the three were back at Yukiko's apartment. The little Kuramon had begun to cry, tears streaming from its singular eye. Yukiko looked very upset with this.
"Oh no, w-w-w-what's the matter, little one? A-a-are you cold?"
She wrapped her blanket around him, but he was still inconsolable.
"Arghm th-th-that's still not it..."
Mizu looked her "little brother" over.
"What if he's hungry?"
"E-e-eh? But I have no bottle..."
The Betamon looked around, and eventually spotted an old USB stick. She jumped up to grab it.
"Eh, what's on this one?"
"Th-th-there? Oh, I used to listen to music with it, but I don't need it anymore..."
"Then let's try something!~"
Before Yukiko could ask what Mizu had on her mind, the Betamon took the stick and offered it to the Kuramon. It stopped crying, sniffed it...then latched on to it and sucked on it like it was a pacifier. It resumed chirping happily.
Yukiko blinked.
"I...I don't get it..."
"Isn't it obvious? Usako said he eats data! So let's give him data sticks like bottles!"
And, indeed, once Kuramon spat the stick out and Yukiko connected it to her computer, all the files on it had gone. Then Kuramon began crying again.
"Ah, i-i-i-is he hungry again?"
She quickly filled the stick with data she no longer needed, picked up the little Kuramon, and cradled him while feeding him the data on the stick. Mizu giggled.
"Hahahah, what a good mother you are!~"
Yukiko blushed, and just rocked the baby back and forth. Her hard drive would be only half as full as it had been yesterday when the baby was finally sated. She had to sacrifice some good music, but anything to make the baby content. As the evening dawned, the baby fell asleep. Yukiko couldn't help but smile as it chirped and went "Kiiii~" in its sleep. She, too, then yawned.
"Oof, the day's over already...let's just hit the hay..."
"Yeah, tomorrow we gotta find a good family for this guy. Maybve dad wants to raise him, too!"
"Ah, good idea, in the morning, we'll go to the seaside and see him..."
Still cradling the baby, Yukiko laid down in her bed and was out like a light within minutes.
When she awoke the very next morning, she was shocked to find that the baby had vanished! She jumped up, looking left and right.
"Aaaaah! W-w-w-where's the baby!?"
Mizu groggily raised her head from the bed, blinking.
"Jusssssfivemoreminsmaaaa..."
"Mizu, get up, the baby has vanished!"
The Betamon went from groggy to wide awake and alert within a nanosecond.
"What?! Little Kira is gone!? Let's find him!"
Before Yukiko had the time to ask "Kira...?", Mizu was already up and searching the apartment frantically. She didn't have to search for long before she spotted the open bathroom door...and the open bathroom window. Digimon and Tamer went "Oh no!" simultaneously. Seems that their foster child had left to explore! They had to find him, fast!
Getting dressed sloppily and donning their holosuit respectively, Yukiko and Mizu ran out of the apartment door, rushing down the stairs.
"I doubt he's gone far, where would he even go with his tiny stubby legs?"
"I am more concerned about people seeing him, he's a Digimon after all!"
Mizu could not argue with that.
Behind the Apartment complex was a small park, likely built in the Bubble Era of the late 80s, when there was money to burn and the Tokyo Housing Council felt generous. A small playground, surrounded by rings of sakura and ginkgo trees, made up most of this park. As the two entered they heard quiet chirps. Were these birds, or were they the baby? They had to go and find out!
They ran clockwise along the circular path, eventually coming upon a little boy poking the canopy of a tree with a long stick.
"Ah! What's the matter?"
He turned around. Yukiko recognized him as a neighbour's kid.
"Oh, hello Yukiko-san. There's a weird cat in the tree."
"A cat...?"
"Yeah, it chirps. An' I think it's blue."
He poked the tree with his stick again, and a very familiar chirp sounded. It was a bit deeper, but otherwise identical. Oh darn, the little guy was up there in the trees! They had to get him out somehow!
"E-e-e-eh, h-h-hey, isn't your mom calling?"
"Nah, she's out for work today."
D-d-darn, that didn't work!
"H-h-how about I buy you some ice cream if you go home now?"
"Dun wanna."
He poked it again. Yukiko was beginning to get desperate. That's when Mizu approached the boy, all smiles, and bent down.
"My my my, what a mean little kid, poking cats in trees!~"
She then opened her eyes, all red like her Digimon self's.
"Do you know what happens to kids that bother cats? The Nekomata comes at night and eats them!~"
The child blinked, then shuddered, broke out into tears and then ran home. Yukiko was left behind, blinking.
"...that was mean..."
"Hey, it worked! Come on, let's fetch Kira-chan!"
Yukiko nodded, still unsure about that name, and climbed up that tree. Soon, she came face to face with the little Digimon. He had changed over night, instead of a little purple blob he was now a blue hand with two long ears - a Tsumemon! It seemed quite frightened, but as soon as it saw Yukiko's face it chirped happily, and with a happy call of "Mama!~" it once again latched onto Yukiko's face. The girl's muffled complaints drew Mizu's attention, allowing her to catch her Tamer as she fell from the tree.
"Oof! You need to lose weight! Ooooh, look, little Kira-chan is bigger now!~"
The Tsumemon stuck to Yukiko's face for a little while longer before sitting on her head. Yukiko was rather dizzy from all of this.
"Uuuuuh...l-l-let's go home..."
Hiding the Tsumemon under a hood, the two headed home. As they walked, they came past a Networking Van from the local ISP. They were looking over a construction site where they had laid a new network cable. Something...had bitten into it, causing a data blockage that no one could truly explain. Yukiko and Mizu exchanged unsure glances. It seems their little child had been hungry again. Like this, they couldn't release him back into the Digital World...
The next few days were hard work for the two. Between the way too curious Tsumemon trying to escape to explore all the time, his tantrums when he was hungry, and his initial refusal to eat anything but data drove the two up the wall. And yet, never once did Yukiko get mad, nor did Mizu yell. They tried to teach the little Tsumemon what's important, how to treat people, how there's food other than data, and so on. Then came the big day. Little Kira-Chan had digivolved again, into Keramon, and was clad in a hoodie to hide him from the curious eyes of Terminus as Mizu and Yukiko led him through the Trailmon Terminal to the trains to the seaside. They sat side by side, as Mizu read a story to Kira-chan and Yukiko held his hand. The little Keramon was most delighted. When they finally reached the seaside, and with it Plesiomon X's Sea Orphanage, it was time to say goodbye for now.
"You'll take good care of him, right papa?"
The elderly Plesiomon X chuckled.
"Have I ever disappointed you, my child?"
Mizu nodded, then turned to Kira-chan and Yukiko. The human was hugging the Keramon. She'd grown really close to it in the past few days.
"Be good, ok? I'll visit you regularily, I promise."
There were tears in her eyes.
"The Human World is too dangerous for you, but Mizu's dad will keep you safe."
The Keramon was hugging her back, and his eyes were filled with tears, too. With a crackly voice, he said:
"Thank you, Mama, thank you!"
Then, he let go, and went towards Mizu's dad, hopping onto his back and waving as the Plesiomon swam off to the secret location of his orphanage. Tamer and partner looked after him for a long time. Then, Mizu broke the silence by chuckling.
"Hehe, never thought we'd grow so close to the little rascal, eh?"
"Haha, yeah...I can't wait to see him again..."
"Heh, me too..."
After watching the sun set over the digital ocean, the two turned, and went back to Terminus, knowing their little one was safe now.
