Typical(?) Terminus (OPEN)

Terminus City is quite possibly one of the most incredible things I've ever seen. The sheer variety of people working together is nothing short of astounding. Even if they're all Digimon. It doesn't matter how different everyone is, they're all working together. That said, most of the people here give me strange looks. Occasionally, they give Dorothy the same look, but I don't understand why. She's a Digimon, just like the others.
The green haired woman stops writing in her notebook, and looks to her Digimon partner, the Witchmon tapping her foot impatiently, her broom at her side. "You writing about our travels again? What are ya plannin', a travel guide?" She teases, gently nudging her Tamer with a slight frown on her face, the two walking through the streets of Terminus with little to do, the sky filled with clouds, but nowhere near raining yet.
"No, but that's a good idea. A guide for novice Tamers to understand what they're getting into... That, or notes for research." A sigh escapes the green haired human's mouth, and she glances around, searching for something of interest through the small crowds and occasional larger Digimon until a small store catches her eye, heading inside the large, heavy door with Dorothy following closely behind, the witch Digimon increasingly bored until something is handed to her by force, a large, heavy book. "Dorothy, can you read this? I'm struggling to understand any of these..." Alice immediately goes back to further within what is evidently a bookstore, taking something off a nearby shelf and opening it up.
And just as Alice expects, the book is full of the same symbols, the same strange lettering and numbers that are plastered absolutely everywhere in the Digital World. A slight frown crosses her face as her eyes trace across the page, her frustration becoming clear to the few around her. This inability to understand the world causes her to grumble. "It's hard to keep my research for the field club up if I can't understand something fundamental like this..."
In response, Dorothy passes the book back to Alice, who closes it, and sighs. "C'mon, greeny. This ain't even an interesting book, and this is a junk shop. There's nothin' of value here. Unless ya like trash... Now, if you were to get me somethin' interesting, I might tell you~."
After a brief argument, it isn't long before both Alice and Dorothy are wandering around in Terminus once again, the human of the pair concealing her frustration while the Digimon of the two hops onto her broom, resting on it as the two watch the occasional Digimon pass by while the duo rests under the shade of a tree in a small garden, the running water of a fountain not too far away, the only sounds being from the fountain or a pair of rookie Digimon playing together, something that Dorothy looks at for a moment before letting out a slight sigh.
"...Ya know what, gimme your notebook. I'll write down what I know." Dorothy says this after averting her eyes from the other Digimon, the witch soon handed the book alongside a pen that she holds with two fingers due to the size of her hands, and surprisingly accurate despite the awkward way she has to hold it.
Displeased at herself and Dorothy alike, Alice takes a moment to just shake her head and sigh. "What I'm wondering is why you didn't do it sooner..."

After what felt like days of them being lost, the Gallant Three had finally arrived in their destination of Terminus City and you would think Talia would be dying to go home to her own bed, own shower and own house. Yet, the adrenaline fueled thrill from their recent adventures in this land, flowing in veins like a river at high tide, was far stronger than her desire to go back to civilization. “Keep walking!” Terminus city was such an aesthetically amazing place that the girl had nearly stopped on the sidewalk to glance around hardly noticing she was getting in the way of other digimon who glared at her (and some of who towered over her and had hands as big as the twins together in one), causing Simba and Tohru to pull her along a bit.
“I didn’t even know the digital world could have places like this!” At first hearing the term ‘digital world’, Talia had expected to see some sort of vast pixelated wasteland like something from a low budget 80s game. “To be honest I didn’t know either, I don’t remember much from my time here!” The small bunny had hopped up onto the girls shoulder, flopping on top of her head, making the woman look like she wearing some kind of avant garde hat you would find for a marked up price at Urban Outfitters - it was nice for Talia to see Tohru opening up a little bit, loosening up as far as her affection went, knowing that it meant she was getting more comfortable around the human and in return the blonde was getting more and more attached to these twins by the day.
“Don’t carry me Talia! I wanna be uhh...how do you say it? Indefandant? Indepecent?” He couldn’t seem to recall the big word he was looking for, ugh humans used so many of them! Of course Tohru was happy to remind him, the rabbit loving taking advantage of any chance she could get to one up her brother. “Independent.” Pfft, like her kid brother could ever take care of himself - he would probably cry if they got separated for more than two seconds! Just kidding! No sibling of her would ever be that pathetic...or would he? She wouldn’t put it past him of course, what with how he seemed to be afraid of his own shadow at times. “I know we opted out of going home right now, but you guys think we should find the train station so we know where it is for next time?”
Both seemed to agree, and of course Tohru was the first to announce she knew where it was. “It’s that way! To the right! Eep-” Simba had jumped up onto Talia’s other shoulder and covered the hare’s mouth for a minute. “Sorry sis, but you’ll get us lost again!” Yep, this time however, Talia refused to believe her since she’d been the one who forgot to tell them that she had no idea how to get here in the first place. “I will not! My ears are practically satellite, they were just...off when I got us lost.” An approachable girl with green haired sitting in the park with what looked like a witch digimon seemed to be their best best for asking directions, Talia walking towards her with the twins perched on her shoulders. “Excuse me, but do you know the way to the train station from here? We’re kinda uhh...new to this place you could say.”

"...Huh?" Alice suddenly looks at the trio, a slight surprise coming over her as she responds to them, in perfect English, no less. "Oh, sorry, didn't see you there. And yes, I know where the train station is. Haven't seen many Tamers out here in the Digital World... It's a relief to see one, I guess." The green haired woman stands up straight, and makes a bit of a smile, looking at this stranger's Digimon partners first of all. finding the rabbit Digimon a bit more welcoming than the dragon one before looking directly at the Tamer of these two rather energetic looking Digimon.
Her partner, a slightly less friendly seeming Witchmon scribbles down symbols in a notebook, she briefly looks up to see the newcomers. "Who're these dorks? Ain't we busy lookin' for secrets 'n stuff?" Despite her less than stellar way with friendly words, she seems to be fairly agreeable. "Oh, here's what ya wanted, by the way." She hands what is obviously Alice's notebook back to her along with the pen, the witch having a much more relaxed and sarcastic nature to her voice. "Well, as she said, we know which way to the station. Got lost here a long while back, now we're back to just do dork things." "Well, we're looking for anything of interest, really. And don't mind her, she's a bit of a hassle sometimes, but I think we've held off introducing ourselves long enough. I'm Alice, and my Digimon friend here..." Alice looks over the notes in her notebook before closing it, a slight smile coming from her. "She's Dorothy. Anyways, you were asking about where the station is? It's not too far from here."She runs a hand through her green hair after putting the notebook into her bag, "And while we're at it, why not talk a bit. There's a lot I need to learn... What brought you here, anyways?" She takes a few steps forwards out from under the tree, and holds out her hand, expecting the newcomer to shake it. "That weird hole in the Shibuya River, or something else?"

“Really?” For some reason Talia had assumed there would be more tamers in the world as opposed to what the green haired woman reported. “I’d assume otherwise, but then again computer programming teaches you to never assume anything.” The nature of it was too tedious and error prone for someone who operated on assumptions or didn’t have the patience to check for any and all possible corrections since the way programming worked was that one tiny wrong character could screw up the entire thing. “Excuse you! We’re the farthest thing from dorks you can possibly get.” Using to generally being called every name in the book, Talia hadn’t paid too much attention to the Witchmons words and Simba had no idea what it even meant since he usually fell asleep first while they watched those human movies where people used that sort of jargon.
“Tohruuuuu come on…” She held her breath as the insulted little hare jumped down in front of them, her ears standing out a bit like a kitty cat with its fur raised, her human bending down to pick her up much to the digimons protest. Pissing off witches was never a good thing if books and movies were accurate right? “Sorry, please don’t mind her, she’s just a little bit sensitive sometimes.” Hmmph, as if! “I am not sensitive, I just have pride to upkeep.” Yeah well, said pride wouldn’t keep this Witchmon from turning them into toads or ants.
“I’m Talia! Nice to meet you.” The blonde extended her hand offering a shake, unsure if the green haired female would take it based on her past experience with the frostiness of other women (and occasionally men, aka mostly other nerds in her major with inflated egos who’d felt threatened by the possibility of a woman surpassing them). “Yeahhhh we kind of got lost and the three of us really should get back to the human world, I have deadlines!” The blonde didn’t really know yet that time passed much slower in the human world when you were in the digital world. “But Taliaaaa, you promised we could explore more!” The protesting Simba tugged on her sleeve as he spoke, reminding her of her earlier promise. “Well, we can’t stay forever! Unless you both want me to get fired.” Contract hacking didn’t pay quite enough yet to sustain the three of them except maybe if they lived in a one room apartment with no windows.
“Yeah! You promised Talia.” For once Tohru agreed with her brother on the matter and Talia found herself in a 2 against one vote while the hare turned to the other two, waving a greeting with one of her ears who’s length seemed to go past the height of her actual body. “My name is Tohru by the way, and this is my brother.” The dragon dipped his head before introducing himself. “I’m Simba!” And with Talia out of the way Talia grunted a bit, annoyed at the twins having ganged up on her earlier. “Ugh, fiiiine, but its not going to be more than another two days, alright?” The twins cheered, exchanging a hug to celebrate getting their way for once. “Yeah it was that, the river! But for some reason it brought us to a random place in the jungle where a group of Dokunemon tried to mug us! How about you guys? Cool digimon by the way...” No, lie she was resisting the urge to nerd out over the pretty witch.

"I said I haven't seen many. Maybe I'm just unlucky." Alice states with a shrug and a sigh, making eye contact almost immediately. "And she calls everyone that. Dorothy is a bit... Troublesome at times, but she's not bad by any stretch. Nice to meet you, Talia." Alice holds out her hand and shakes Talia's without a second thought, friendly, but slightly distant, her mind likely occupied with whatever she's been looking at. "And don't worry, time passes slower here, from what I've figured out. It's weird, to say in the least... I'll never get used to it." The green haired woman shakes her head and chuckles, taking a moment to relax and enjoy having some additional company, and finding the blonde a bit intriguing. Perhaps she could be useful to keep in contact with, Alice thinks to herself. A programmer could very well be fairly useful in a world composed of data, after all.
Alice soon continues speaking, seemingly at least a little knowledgeable on the quirks of the Digital World. "As I was saying, time passes weirdly here, so you should have a reasonable amount of time before you need to go, depending on when you need to be in the Human World. I've been in and out a few times."
Alice's Digimon partner greets the blonde woman's own Digimon with a slight wave, a slight cheerful sarcasm to her voice, though she's by no means hostile, her tone more like that of someone who doesn't take much very serious than anything else. "Simba 'n Tohru, huh? Well, what are ya two so worked up about, anyways? Oh, right, explorin' Terminus... It's a pretty big place. Alice got lost, like, four or five times already..." Dorothy laughs a little bit as she says this, leaning forwards on her broom and pushing up her hat a bit to get a better look at things. "She can't read the signs, ya know?"
"...Because I don't understand the local written language. If I was able to read it, I'd probably be able to learn a lot more about this place a lot faster." Alice states with a slight grumble, this evidently being one of the things keeping Alice's mind occupied. "And I'd rather not have Dorothy be a translator at all times." She pulls her Digivice out of her bag, and smiles just a little bit. "That said, mind if I give your Digimon a quick little scan? We're collecting data as part of a group studying the Digital World, and though I'm not exactly professional, I'm pretty determined to help out any way I can."
"Yeah, she's puttin' it all into a notebook, too, drawing a lotta stuff and sometimes askin' people weird questions." Dorothy states with a wave of her hand, as if she's heard Alice's spiel about wanting to learn more many times, but hasn't grown too tired of it. "As for where me 'n her ended up our first time crawlin' through that hole... It was the desert."
Alice can't help but chime in. "You were a Rookie back then, a small little thing... And now, you're unrecognizable from that. And a bit more of a handful, but I don't mind having a roommate instead of something that fits in my bag."
"C'mon, don't talk 'bout me like that, I don't wanna be seen as that dorky lil' bean..." The witch grumbles slightly, a slight frown coming over her face when she hears her Rookie stage mentioned, though she quickly seems to just laugh it off. "Hey, ya three think I'm cool, right?"

“Worked up? We’re just naturally a hyper pair I guess!” If that was what worked up meant of course. “This brother of mine keeps me energized all the time, he’s quite the handful if you can’t tell, like a kid with too much candy!” Mmm, now Simba wanted some sweets - wait a minute that was an insult wasn’t it? “Hey! You’re the one who always gets us in trouble first.” And there was a reason she wouldn’t let him forget it. “Yep! Because I always have the better ideas.”
Alice didn’t have to say which group it was for Talia to know that she referring to the same club that Amelie had just a few days earlier and frankly if she heard about this stupid club one time she was more than likely going to rip a tree from the ground with all that hidden fury, a anger that felt legitimate and...confusing? As if part of her didn’t want to believe that Carlos could be unfaithful, but yet another part of her refused to accept anything but such a brash and shallow assumption. Hence, Talia was briefly silent for a moment before quietly agreeing with an “I guess…” while looking away a little bit.
Tohru was all too happy to step in explain the situation as best as she could without embarrassing her human, knowing she felt humiliated enough. “Don’t take it personally, my human was having issues with someone in your research club so there’s a little bit of raw tension. She doesn’t have a problem with you though!” In fact the person she was the most mad at was...herself? Did that make sense? “Don’t be sad Talia.” As he often did when she was sad, the child dragon nuzzled against the girls hand, the blonde picking him up in her arms. “Tohru’s right, I’m not judging you just by association, that’s something a 3rd grader would do.” And she was better than that right?
With her hands around his torso, Talia gently placed Simba back down on the ground, his clawed reptilian paws touching the ground first. “Go on bud, let the nice lady scan you okay?” At first the sound of it was a bit frightening to the digimon, who proceeded to scamper behind Talia’s legs, earning a chuckle out of the female who gave him a scratch on the head before nudging him towards the others again. “Don’t worry, it’s not gonna be painful, I’d never let anyone hurt you or Tohru, promise.”

"...Gyahaha, you two are like two peas in a pod..." Dorothy seems pleased to see the two Digimon be so active, giggling to herself as she watches the duo argue a little bit. She soon floats over closer to Alice on her broom. "It's cute, like, really cute. Anyways, get to scannin' these two if you're so curious, Greeny." The witch gives Alice a bit of a nudge, still with that sharp toothed grin plastered on her face, a friendly, if intrusive gesture.
Taking out her Digivice, the green haired woman nods, trying to ignore Dorothy's comment and actions for now. "Right... Hold still, this will only be a minute." As she scans the first of the pair, the screen lights up, and eventually displays the results, which prompts slight confusion from Alice. "Huh."
Species: Lopmon Attribute: Data Family/Field: Nature Spirits Type: Animal Abilities: - Blazing Ice - Spinning Slap Previous Form: Moonmon Next Form: Turuiemon Shaking her head, Alice takes a moment to just think over the results. Tohru doesn't look like an ordinary Lopmon, after all. "Twins really are a little unusual. Dorothy's right though, these two are very cute." She seems genuinely happy to see this, despite her confusion at the fact a Lopmon looks unlike any Lopmon she's ever seen, and only able to speculate as to why. She soon takes out her notebook again, planning to make quick sketches of the two later while she proceeds to scan the other Digimon, with Dorothy waiting patiently, knowing that Alice's curiosity is something that usually cannot be stopped.
Species: Hackmon Attribute: Data Family/Field: Metal Empire Type: Animal Abilities: - Fifth Rush - Teen Ram - Carmen Previous Form: Koromon Next Form: Baohuckmon "...And that should be it." The green haired woman completes scanning Simba as well, taking a moment to put her Digivice away and speak. "The Digital World is so interesting to me... Sure, people have been here before, but we're still pioneers of a new world, more or less. I hope most people treat it with respect." Her words are still full of a little bit of that almost childish, bright wonder, though it's clear she takes this seriously as well, wanting to see as many of the world's secrets as possible simply because she can. "Though I don't think I'll ever get used to having a roommate who regularly tries to summon monsters and the like..."
"Hey, here you're the weird one, drawin' almost everyone ya come across." Dorothy comments with a little bit of playful snark, growing impatient, but fine with things for now, tapping her fingers on the broom gently. "Ya shoulda seen her after I first Digivolved to what I am now. I swear she inspected every inch of me, notes 'n everything."
Alice just nods, now opening her notebook and taking out a pen to write and draw inside it, a smile on her face. "It'll only be a few minutes, and I'll be done drawing you two." She then looks up to Talia, her slight smile clear for her to see. "I have to ask, how did you meet these two? And have you three encountered anything mysterious? I'd love to hear more stories about the Digital World."

“Unfortunately these two are more like needy children than roommates.” In a good way, if that made sense. “Needy and yet fulfilling? Now I probably sound kind of cheesy but it’s nice to have someone to come home to at the end of the day waiting for you, although they’re usually with me nine times out of ten.” At first she’d left them home alone but quickly found that the more attached she got the more she felt guilty leaving them by themselves and then there was one occasion where she’d planned to only stay a little bit late, only to crash at her computer and wake up in the middle of the night, self inciting a near panic attack realizing she’d left the twins home alone for over 12 hours and after that never seemed to want to leave them alone for some reason.
“Hmph! They better be respectful, or I’ll make them, we’ll make them right guys?” The three of them high fived, the blonde bending down to their level to do so. “Yeah! The gallant three will show them who’s boss.” While a silly title, it was a fun concept that seemed to bond them as a family, albeit a dorky one but a family nonetheless. “But wait, how are we supposed to protect the digital world if we haven’t evolved yet?” Ah Tohru, always the voice of reason. “Don’t worry, you’ll get there soon!” But the words of encouragement were nothing but just that since Talia didn’t really know a whole lot about evolution - K had said it happened through bonding, hadn’t she bonded enough with these two now? Was there a limit or was it completely infinite? “I’ll bet it was surreal! I can’t wait to see what Tohru and Simba look like in their next stage. Uh, hmmm where to begin...”
She sat in the grass, laying back a little bit, enjoying the fresh air, the feeling foreign to the workhaholic female if anything. “You know, society teaches us that unless we’re working nine hours a day, seventy five hours a week we aren’t living our lives correctly, but to me this is way more important than any of that.” Not that she didn’t love programming or helping the helpeless and innocent through hacking but sometimes she just wanted to stop and the roses, or in this case, get a new sense of self connection through exploring the great outdoors of the digitial world. “But anyway, I found these two trying to break into a vending machine while I was staying late in the office one night, I had no idea who they were, where they came from, actually at first I thought they were press release samples from a new line of plushes the company was going to be launching or something until they started talking and then I freaked out. How about you? How did you manage to meet Dorothy?”

"Ahh... My bad, I was assuming your Digimon were like Dorothy, sorry." The green haired woman states with a slight sigh."And I can't wait to see what Dorothy becomes when she changes to her next stage as well, but I get the feeling she really likes what she is now." Glancing to her own partner, Alice spots the witch's slight grin, perhaps confirming her suspicion.
"Well, duh." Dorothy stands up, finally getting off the broom, and does a bit of a stretch after laughing to herself. "It's great. People mistake me for one of them humans 'n I get to mess with 'em every now and then~." She cackles after saying this, proud of her supposed accomplishment, and takes a few steps over to Talia, that toothy grin staying on her face. "Not Tamers, though. You guys are different, got enough trouble to deal with."
Alice shakes her head slightly, a faint smile on her face as she hears the story about how Talia met her Digimon. "I met Dorothy as soon as I moved in. Cleaned up my apartment, found my Digivice, and she was hiding in the bathroom like someone locked her in there... Back then, she was just a Pagumon. She then looked through my things and unlocked my suitcase like the troublemaker she is."
Dorothy complains back at Alice with a sarcastic laugh. "C'mon, I'm just curious 'bout the Human World." Her smile is soon interrupted by another comment Alice brings up.
"...Curious enough to recently ask if I could get you some other clothes to wear." Alice states this in an almost deadpan tone, the words causing her Digimon's face to go bright red, the green haired woman just a little bit amused by this.
"Ya don't need to let her know that." The witch Digimon narrows her eyes and grumbles slightly, still a bit embarrassed. To her relief, the subject changes when Alice finishes her sketches and puts her notebook away.
"There, the drawings are done... Unfortunately, I can't hand them to you, but I can show them off." She holds out her notebook to share the rather faithful and accurate sketches of Simba and Tohru for all to see, a slight pride evident in her voice. "...As I was saying, after finding Dorothy, I realized that something like her wouldn't be an isolated incident, and found others with In-Training Digimon... And someone with a much more powerful one, but the point is that I figured out more people were just as confused as I was. After a brief visit to the Digital World and a return home, got in a fight with a hostile Tamer, decided to try and relax after that, and here I am."
The green haired woman finally makes a more noticeable smile. "So, that's my story so far. I hope it's at least a little bit interesting."

“They’re like kids but a lot less whiny and snot nosed.” Talia didn’t hate kids, but didn’t like how they had a tendency to be annoying and bratty, pulling on their mothers coats to leave a store they were bored in or throwing a tantrum fit when they weren’t allowed to buy candy - having Tohru and Simba around was like having kids but without the inherent human traits that made kids completely undesirable to be around if that made any sense. The twins, they truly and genuinely appreciated the girl for taking care of them without a mean or self centered bone in either of their digital bodies. “You know, that kinda makes me curious about what twin’s next forms’ll be, but do digimon change a lot in personality when they evolve? I guess that’s a silly question, that’s the whole idea of evolution, but I kinda like how they are now as partners…”
But at the same time Talia didn’t want what she wanted to hold the two of them back from growing up if that made sense - see, part of her own change in having these two around was that she found there was else to care about besides herself. Before all this, she’d only taken care of, made decisions for, and looked out for herself (well, she’d done a little bit of Carlos but Carlos could take care of himself to a degree so it wasn’t the same). Was she being selfish with such thoughts? Or just protective of the twins in general? The world, both human and digital could be such a scary place and in a way the blonde wished that she could shield the both of them from the horrors of both worlds, if only that was the reality.
“I agree, curiosity is a healthy thing to have - it’s what drives forward pioneering and discovery!” The twins were just as vested as Dorothy in fact. “Simba and I are a little too small and new to go out exploring on our own yet, so most of our learning about the human cultures comes mostly from books, movies, and television shows.” The dragon took offense to being called petite as Tohru giggled. “Hey, I’m not small, humans are just too big and messy!” The rabbit tended to agree there with her brother - culturally, humans were one big modern mess, granted it was more for them to explore but still a mess nonetheless.
Talia returned the smile to the green haired girl. “It is pretty interesting! It’s fun to hear all the different experiences tamers have - with me, I wasn’t really sure just what these two were, and then my boyfriend brought over his Pagumon which confused me even more, and then one day in the park I met being unlike anything I’d ever seen before, it was a mega level digimon that seemed to be a fox species, a very wise and sentient one at that, who cleared up some things for me, and then the twins reached their child forms that same day.” She’d never seen K again after that but often wondered what the fox lady was up to and where she was these days. “Recently we came to the conclusion that Tohru and Simba are missing some memories of their past lives, so we’re here to kind of see if we can figure out some of those blank spots, and just explore in general I guess.”

"Dorothy didn't change at all, personality wise... She does seem a little more mature and less childish, but I think that's through actual experience and not evolution." Alice states as she decides to get moving to some extent, urging Lola and her partners to follow, Dorothy not that far behind. The mention of past lives makes Alice a bit... Puzzled. Why hasn't Dorothy mentioned anything of that sort? Alice just shrugs, and assumes that it might be something that varies from Digimon to Digimon, deciding to ignore the subject and focus on the rest for now. "Anyways, if you want to see the train station, follow me. It's cute that your Digimon are just as interested in the Human World..."
"...Yeah, but those cartoons 'n stuff are boring. Why watch somethin' about a girl who casts magic when ya so much fantastic stuff right here, accordin' to Alice?" Dorothy soon points to herself with a confident grin. Of course, all this does is get Alice to roll her eyes and laugh, amused by the comment.
Eventually, Alice does respond, mumbling to herself afterwards. "It may be, but I don't think the world's ready to see this kind of wonderful place or the people who live here, unfortunately." She soon ends up waiting for Lola and her Digimon, hoping they follow. After all, going home was one of the things the three wanted to do. "I'll show you the Trailmon Terminal, just so you don't need to keep looking for it, is that all right? Well, that and the shop we were in earlier isn't too far."
"Every time you went into someone's shop or noticed somethin' weird ya kept askin' people questions. Kinda disrespectful, if ya ask me..." Dorothy rolls her eyes, not wanting to insult Alice too much despite her lack of awareness at times. "At least it keeps things interestin'."
"Anyways... That reminds me of a few details. I didn't see a powerful fox, I saw a cat. One that had a very... Let's call her innocent and good hearted Tamer." Alice isn't willing to say Haru is a little bit dense, but that's unfortunately the truth at times. "A large cat that just so happened to have somehow got a container full of cracker boxes... Dorothy started taking some as soon as she could."
