Thunk.... Thunk... Thunk..
The dull sounds of axe on wood could easily be heard through the forest; it was quiet and early with most of the mons that would call this place their home being either asleep or too busy trying to catch breakfast to really be paying attention to that sound.
It had been persisting for at least an hour with short breaks in-between which were followed by the groaning sound of a tree falling over. It wasn't really a surprise to hear this sort of thing anyways with the habitat nearby that was getting built. More and more mons [and some humans] had been making this place a constant stop in order to get timber.
Closer still to the scene were one to look would there be a strange sight, a single shirtless human wielding a large somewhat hefty axe. Several trees had already been felled and placed neatly in a pile; their tops shaved off in such a way to allow proper stacking.
"Won't have to worry about working out this week if I keep this up.."
The man ran a hand across his brow and surveyed the few trees he had marked out. He had to be very careful about what trees he was chopping down as he had started out the morning almost chopping down a tree with a resting biyomon in it. After a heated argument they had directed him to an area where whe could swing 'that murderblade' willy nilly and not harm anyone. The area he had been pointed to had fewer prime trees but it would ultimately be an easier area to work in to start things off. Once he had a sizable amount of lumber he could haul it off in spirit form without running into the problem of foilage as well.
With a soft but somewhat happy sigh the man brought his axe up to measure the tree he was working on once more... before starting in earnest again.
Thunk... Thunk... Thunk...

Kan though wound find himself far from alone as the distant crash of a falling tree would echo nearby to his left. Followed by another and another as the sound of heavy metallic footsteps could be heard accompanying the crashing until a massive black axe seemed to appear out of nowhere slicing through the tree the man had been chopping with deadly ease. Barely managing to miss the man himself as the blade circled returning to the armored hand of it's owner as a Dark Knightmon stepped into the clearing with a Duramon close on his heels. The two Ultimates seemed to freeze blinking in surprise at the sight of what appeared to be a human at work in the woods.
"My apologies we were not aware there was anyone else within this sector." The Dark Knight Digimon rumbled out inclining his head in greeting as his sibling peered over his shoulder at Kan.
"Least of all a human. You are human right?" The Duramon quipped as he stepped up to the felled tree and lashing out with his blades neatly parted it of it's branches. It was clear the sibling were working in tandem with the Dark Knightmon bringing the trees down and the Duramon trimming them to the trunk for easy use and transport.

Kan blinked a little bit at the sound of falling trees in the area; glancing around he'd try to place where it was coming from but then there was another and another making it far too easy to pick up where they had been coming from. He hated how things echoed here; but it made it simply easy with constant sound at least.
The sudden appearance of the black axe that was seemingly out of no where only made the man step back a few paces with a small grunt of surprise. Who ever swung that had barely missed him; honestly who went around the forest chopping down tree's with reckless abandon? Seeing that the blade itself wasn't wielded immediately by someone gave him thoughtful pause and he was greeted with the sight shortly after of a Dark Knightmon. It would be the first time that he would of seen one in person; only hearing about them from a few people in terminus a while ago. They were more common in the dark area if he was remembering right.
His gaze switched from the Dark knight to the Duramon for a brief moment before the former addressed him with an Apology.
"I wasn't aware of it either else I would of made it known somehow."
The human set the axe on his shoulder and quirked a brow at the Duramon as he spoke. Did he not look human enough or something? This was really the first time he'd be questioned in that manner honestly. He was used to small bits of staring whilst on the streets back in the human world but here? He wasn't expecting them to be.. so observant.
"Yes I'm human."
The man reached into his pocket and drew out something the twins would easily recognize. The broken screen of his digivice stared hatefully out at the two for a moment before he stowed it away again. He'd move out of the way of the two placing a hand against one of the trees he had marked. He'd tap it with the axe and get back to chopping figuring there was no point in standing around while others were hard at work around him.
"There's a small patch of trees to the north I'd suggest avoiding, some biyomon are nesting there. I've marked at least a dozen or so trees thus far; they're all good and sturdy from what I can tell. Try to avoid any trees marked with red X; some weird moss is growing on them and I don't trust them."
While he wasn't as powerful, as strong or nearly as fast as the ultimates at work he was at the very least consistent enough to where it wouldn't be a problem. He saw no point in using his spirit for anything other than transporting the lumber as he couldn't very well carry twenty of these hefty trees. He'd pause between swings and glance at the twins for a few moments before getting back to it.
He was distinctly reminded of another pair of twins that he knew, but these two acted and held themselves differently than those two...

"I see..." The Dark Knightmon rumbled out softly. "I am Cloak. My twin is Dagger." Cloak added introducing the pair in short order as he leaned lightly upon his axe waiting for his sibling to finish as he observed the man. Dagger made short work of the felled tree, but as the Duramon rose he was quick to hook a blade around the Dark Knightmon's arm drawing him to the side. The pair holding a quick, harsh, and whispered conversation the man was unlikely to catch more then snatches of.
"Human! ....Like her! She thinks.....Monster!" The Duramon hissed out bits of his words carrying easier then his siblings as Cloak answered him in a low whisper eventually ending in the Dark Knightmon shaking off his brother's grip.
"We don't have time for this. We'll report what we've found should we see her before she sees him." Cloak growled ending the hasty conversation as he tossed a nod to Kan and took careful aim at one of the unmarked trees. Sending it toppling with a swift swing of his axe as Dagger let out a frustrated growl. Instead as he trimmed off the branches of the downed tree he seemed to switch tactics.
"You know most humans shy away from working with a blade, but you aren't half-bad with an axe. What's your name?" Dagger questioned casting a curious and assessing gaze towards the strange human.

"A pleasure."
While no where nearly as effective as the two ultimates, the tree that the human was working on fell on it's own in short order once enough of it had been chopped away. He'd stare at it for a few moments and glance to the two as he heard snippets of the conversation but it was nothing he really would care for. If they wanted to have hushed conversations near him that was fine; he didn't care. He had work that needed to be done and standing around making idle chit chat wasn't a part of the job.
He'd blink however at hearing the end part that Cloak growled out; shaking his head he'd start to work on shaving off the smaller branches. Cutting away at the larger ones once they were out of the way. He'd gaze quietly at the pair as they worked; quirking a brow slightly. They were effective and honestly were making things super easy. If they had enough ultimates running around gathering stuff and just taking care of general work the town would likely get built in no time at all.
He'd pause for a moment when addressed by Dagger; tapping the tree with the axe he'd move to break off the largest of the branches with a couple well placed thwacks.
"Most humans shy away from rough work; but that's just how things are now days. Broadens the gap a bit. You two aren't half bad at clearing out trees either. If there are too many of you in one place I won't have any work to do!" The human chuckled before once again wiping away some of the sweat that had been collecting on his forehead. He'd shoot a look at the Duramon before shrugging seeing no harm in giving his name if they had already given theirs.
"Uric Kan, most people just call me Kan."
He'd start hacking off some of the side branches grunting a little bit when the tree shifted making him having to plant his feet a little more firmly to stop it from doing so. He didn't want it to flip over onto him; that would be problematic and he knew Silvermon was still sleeping probably.

As the tree shifted Kan would find a golden blade stabbed into the earth at it's side stopping the roll and stabilizing it as the Duramon grinned down at him in a manner that could almost be called friendly. Placing one clawed foot onto the trunk he'd hold it steady as Kan hacked off the branch. "I take it you're a spirit user from the digivice you flashed and lack of a partner." The Duramon murmured holding his place as his twin looked on solemn and wary from his own work felling trees.
"How long have you been a spirit user? Is that how you got the fangs?" The golden sword Digimon asked with a tilt of his head even as Cloak let out a growl.
"Dagger that's not something you ask someone." The Dark Knightmon rumbled out in warning his grip shifting on his axe as the Duramon bared his teeth at his twin.
"What?!" Dagger snapped out the twins clearly not agreeing on their approaches of Kan. "You've heard some of the things they say about her. They don't even bother to ask. They just assume. At least I'm asking." He growled out bristling at his twins interuption.

Kan blinked a little bit however when that golden blade stabbed into the earth. He'd turn his head to give the Duramon a curious look; that grin not really bothering him as he would of known right off the bat if these two weren't friendly. His spirit who was still resting would of alerted him on top of his own danger sense going off. Well not so much danger sense as just.. intuition? The man continued to work on the branches of one side before stepping off of the tree motioning for the digimon to move so he could roll it over.
"You would be correct."
He'd take a moment before starting to work properly on the other branches he could reach. Taking the time to carefully shave them off and eventually he'd let out a little tut as he found some of that moss between two branches.
"Tch... gonna have to set this log aside for now until I know what this moss is."
Kan would rub his neck and grimace at the idea of having to scrap this tree so soon after working on it but he didn't want to take any chances of moss growing on the infrastructure of this town. At Daggers questions the man rubbed his neck and leaned on his axe. He'd scratch his head and glance between the two as they didn't agree on something; it seemed as though they wanted to approach him differently here but ultimately they went about it in their own way.
"It's fine Cloak, I appreciate the attempt at creating a respectable boundary but questions posed are still questions that need to be answered. I've been a spirit user for about a decade now and before that I was a tamer for roughly two. The fangs came from constant exposure to the data here in the digital world and the sharing of my body with my spirits."
He'd furrow his brow just a little bit mulling over what the duramon had said about a 'her'. They must of been talking about their tamer? Was something up with them? He'd briefly mull over the option of asking what they meant but figuring it was rude he'd pat the tree to basically gesture that this wasn't going anywhere before moving onto the next; he'd talk between axe swings grunting with exertion here and there...
"I'll take it the both of you are attached to a Tamer? That or you're reasonably friendly digimon used to working with or for a human contractor."

"A decade...." Dagger murmured blinking in surprise as he released the tree stepping off it as he moved to trim the ones his brother had felled narrowly dodging an annoyed swat of the Dark Knightmon's hand. Not that Cloak was trying too hard to hit him as the Dark Knight Digimon was clearly as taken aback by Kan's statement as his twin.
"Yes. We have a Tamer." Cloak rumbled out softly as his twin brightened. "Yeah she's~" Dagger began only to pause at the sound of a twig snapping under foot as the two Ultimates turned. The woman that stood at the edge of the clearing was only really definable as a human and tamer by the digivice held in the cradle strapped to her right arm. Her eyes were a deep bloody red and glowed a soft crimson. The black pupils slitted like a demonic digimon's and her eyes wide with surprise as her gaze settled on Kan. Her hair was a rich wild blonde which pooled down her back in a messy braid. A faded blue slash like mark marred the right cheek of her rather delicate face which was flushed with surprise the grip she held on the wicker picnic basket she white knuckle tight. There was a fine tremble to her gloved hands as she stared at the tall man in shock.
"What are you?" She whispered the curl of her lips over the words revealing sharp gleaming white fangs as she spoke.

"Some people do this sort of thing for a long time, others get burned out. I somehow ended up being the former."
The man gave a shrug and rolled his shoulders before getting back to it, pausing only when Cloak spoke. Saying that they indeed had a tamer and by extension meant that they weren't part of a contract. If that was the case and they were roaming around in ultimate that must mean that this group as a whole probably was somewhat reliable... as well as powerful.
The twig snap however only caused the man to shift his hold on the axe and he'd turn to look to where it had come from. He'd take maybe a few moments to inspect the individual that appeared; figuring that with the way that the Duramon must of cut himself off that this was their tamer? Or perhaps this was just the person they were expecting to deliver them food?
There was a small brow quirk at her question and he'd place the axe on the ground for a few moments. He had to admit that as far as humans went in the digital world; she was a sight for sore eyes. He was expecting some sort of ten year old honestly as that seemed to be a running theme that this place had. So seeing another adult was both pleasant and surprising. Rubbing his hands for a moment as to get rid of the problematic wet that was becoming standard from all this exertion he'd pick the axe back up and move back to his work.
"Human like yourself."
Considering all the things that he had seen, all the people he had met and the vast array of digimon that he had been greeted by, fought and even met with under pleasant circumstances her apperance wasn't even remotely unsettling to him. It just went to show that the digital world had more under it's belt than he knew of; much like those corrupted orbs or like those towers he had heard about.
"There's a cooler around here somewhere if you want to put the basket in it. Ice should still be in there. Should have some water in it if any of you are thirsty."

The woman stiffened as he spoke her eyes bright with fury at the word human as she pulled back her lips flashing her fangs in a silent snarl as she searched his face for any form of mockery. Finding none she paused her fangs still on display, but some of her anger fading and the venom that had been about to spill from her lips restrained somewhat. "I doubt that very much. Human's don't have teeth like us." She murmured letting her words carry in the silence the only noise Kan's own work as the twins had ceased briefly in their efforts. Cloak going so far as to turn from his work taking a tentative step towards his time.
"Hime..." He murmured gently his concern clear.
"I'm fine...I'm fine." She reassured him even as her claws bit through the leather of her gloves and into the basket the ones on her feet scoring rivets into the earth at her tenseness.

There was pain somewhere in there, that much he could tell. The sudden snapping, irritation; anger all those sorts of things that you could tell from something so simple. Something so profound and something that just.. claims to be. He'd pause in his swing and to the tree blinking a few times as the woman also claimed that humans don't have teeth like they do. He'd gingerly thumb over one of his hown and quirk a brow.
"Not like they're exactly common no. But that doesn't really stop us from being what we are."
He'd place the axe against the tree and brush himself off with a small frown. He wasn't expecting to see someone like this; another human another adult. Was she a spirit user at some point or something? Was she like him in the effect that she had spent too much time in spirit form? Or did something else happen. He didn't want to pry so he simply didn't.
His eyes flicked between the twins and their tamer a few times over before giving an earnest sigh feeling as though he had said something wrong. Shaking his head he'd get back to chopping at the next tree over only stopping when the tree toppled away from the group as a whole.
Human.
What did that word even mean to him anymore? The man sighed a little bit and ran a hand through his hair; trying to figure out what he should even say if anything. Finding nothing he'd go to start working on the branches. His silence wasn't painful, or harrowing; it was just uncertain. After maybe five or so minutes he'd take a seat proper on the tree and lean on the axe. He had a question, it was simple and hopefully would take the collective mind away from... whatever was causing this woman to react so poorly to his simple answer.
"You asked earlier how long I had been a spirit user Dagger, how long have you been working together if you don't mind me asking?"

"That is debatable." The woman murmured finally seeking out the cooler Kan had spoken of as she set the basket down lightly atop it. She made no move to place it within the cooler or leave seeing as the food would be best fresh and she would not be expected back from her break in the cooking line just yet. Settling down on one of the discarded fallen trees she'd watch the man with silent curious eyes. A strange longing in her gaze even though it was tinged wit pain and fury. His casual manner and denial left the Doctor oddly off-kilter. Leaving her feeling like a wounded animal even as she reminded herself to breath. Dagger was quick to take care of the few trees that remained that his twin had felled even as Cloak drifted to take a seat alongside his Tamer. The Dark Knightmon would grasp his cape carefully drawing it around the woman where she sat fighting the minute trembles that shook her frame.
"We've been a team for a little under a year." The Duramon murmured glancing between Kan and his Tamer curiously. Clearly torn between finishing his work and going to her. Leaving him to finally settle on attempting to get the job done as quickly as possible.

Kan gave a small shrug at what Cas said, if she wanted to argue that fact he would let her. But considering that she was so seemingly disarmed by easily the simplest statement that he had ever made he didn't really feel like he needed to address it too much. He tapped the tree a few times somewhat curious still; it didn't help that there was that look that he was given by her. Though if anything he imagined that she probably felt jealous maybe? He wasn't sure; he didn't really want to ask nor did he feel like it would be wise to bring it up when she seemed so shaken from something.
"I suppose."
The man rubbed his head and sighed before standing up, stretching a little bit before picking his axe back up. If he kept going he'd probably burn off whatever breakfast he had which would make lunch even better for him. Or at least what would count as lunch.
"A little under a year and you're already ultimate tier? Must have fantastic teamwork then."
The man felt his eyebrows shoot up at the Duramon's answer before getting back to chopping at one of the trees he had selected out for lumber. He knew of groups that struggled to get even to champion after working with one another for several years; one of his friends was still at rookie but they had earnestly given up a long time ago at getting any further. He wasn't really sure what the looks he was getting even meant; it had been a while since he had proper interactions with humans and their partners. Most of which had just been combat or helping out in ruins...

"You evolve or you die..." The Dark Knightmon spoke his arm resting lightly around his Tamer dwarfing her small form. "And we are survivors." Cloak rumbled out even as Cas closed her eyes taking a shaky breath as she worked to center herself. She refused to be vulnerable here. Not in front of a stranger.
"How did you end up like this?" Cas finally spoke her soft voice filling the silence that had settled over the group. "Was it a portal? Did an organization lure you in?" She questioned her curiosity burning to bright to be quenched even by the emotions roiling within her gut. The need to know pushing her onward despite herself as she rose crossing the distance between them to peer up into his face with searching eyes. Next to Kan she appeared even smaller then normal as she let her eyes drop from his briefly glancing him over before his apparel or lack thereof seemed to register in her shocked mind causing her gaze to rivet once more onto his face as she fought down the barest hint of pink that tried to tint her cheeks.

"Hmm. I suppose that is true; but it suits you well if it's gotten you this far."
He'd pause in his swings when her questions arose. He'd consider what he had said earlier and then her latter most questions made him hesitate for a few moments. He was unsure where those guesses were coming from but perhaps one or two of them were more seated in personal experience for her? The man rubbed his neck and set the axe down not willing to swing the item when someone was so close to him. He didn't want to hurt someone because of a back-swing or something along those lines.
"I've been a spirit user for a decade, so constant exposure to the data and the data of the digital world allowed for some bleed through from my spirits. The same could be said of them, they're a little more civil than your usual ones."
He shifted and watched her carefully as she approached. He wasn't lying, there wasn't really a need for it. He'd sigh softly however at the idea of an organization 'luring' him in. That particular one was souring to think of; he had before been lured in by Vexus back when it was still around for several reasons. But with it being defunct he worked for PROFIT now; for now at least.
"Erm. I am part of an Organization, but this was not their doing."
Following suit she gave him a quick look; it seemed as though that she hadn't registered the fact that he wasn't wearing a shirt. He'd rub his neck awkwardly unsure of what to exactly say to that. But this would certainly be quite literally the first time that a woman would of seen him with his shirt off in any regard.
"If an organization was running around giving people stuff like this I'd be a touch concerned."
The man shifted a little bit, not realizing just how small this woman was to him until she was this close. It was odd honestly; he was used to dealing with short people as it was part of living in japan. He often towered over crowds and it made it easy to see him even from down the street. What was he supposed to say now? The human looked towards the twins; quirking a brow at them before returning his attention to the woman.
"What's your name?"
