"You're sure that they are here?"
"I can sense shattermon's broken pieces, they're soft and gentle. Tender things in comparison to the coarse body that they have now. Trust me on this, it is here. Somewhere."
Kan let out a soft sigh as he could feel the touch of his spirit wane from his mind. The spirit had sensed the parts to the other lesser spirit that was still sealed in his sword almost a week ago and just now was the shopkeeper able to get out into the digital world again to take care of it. He had the weekend to search for these parts before having to head back. So in all honesty he had two weeks of searching this ancient place for parts of his spirit.
The man shifted the headgear he was wearing to the side and took a drink from his canteen. He had prepped enough food, water and medical supplies for the trip out here. He didn't really have the space for a lot of nice stuff so he just had went with the basics for the moment. Wiping off his lips after he was done with the water and placing the canteen back on his hip the shopkeep took the time to sweep his digivice around as he walked.
He was very lucky that this initial week was going to be cooler than most from what he had heard from Rustport when he passed through. Something about a cold spell or whatever; he wasn't sure exactly why in the midst of a desert that there would be a cold spell [it was still around a hundred degrees he felt] but he wasn't going to argue with it.
Blinking in surprise as he pushed through an ancient doorway his eyes locked firmly on a strand of purple data. Swiping his digivice over it he was gifted with the brief image of shattermon writhing on the ground as his fur started to change color. Frowning a little bit as the data was whisked into his digivice the man sighed.
"How many?"
"Hundreds possibly, it's hard to tell. There are many around here but they keep on moving and phasing out... The next one is maybe down the block?"
The man sighed and stepped outside looking around before slowly trudging down the ancient street that was covered with sand. He did a lot for his spirits now days, to try to get them to calm themselves while sealed away in the silvermon's sword. But thankfully he would be able to make some headway to get them away from the harmful deals they had made with one another...
If only he could of done this when he was younger perhaps he wouldn't be in such poor shape as a person...

Carlos yawned a bit, less from boredom and more from exhaustion as he carefully climbed his way over a broken down wall of rubble, Dio following close behind. They had been wandering around the Ruins of the Western Flatlands for what felt like hours, though admitedly it had probably been slightly less than that. What where they even hoping to find in here, one may wonder? Frankly, not even they were entirely sure. It just seemed like a good idea overall, a nice place to explore and gather data for the Club's analysis.
The dust filled ruins had a depressive feel to it, not unlike that of a ghost town. Despite it clearly being abandoned a long time ago, there was something different about this place compared to the other ruins littered across the Digital world, or at least different to those the duo had visited. As if something really bad had happened here to cause it to be abandoned.
After taking a quick sip from a plastic bottle of water he carried on his backpack, the man threw the bottle in his partner's direction, the imp skillfully grabbing it before drining a bit from it. Fo such a windy day it was certainly pretty hot. At the very least the ruins were...well, as obvious as that sounded, abandoned. It was a nice change of pace to simply look around without having to worry about something jumping at them, even if that was always a possibility on the Digital World.
Of course, it wouldn't take long for even Carlos to notice that they weren't exactly alone in the ruined city, as a lone humanoid silhoutte walked on its own along the dusty streets in the distance. Quickly yet as quietly as possible the man leaned closer to the imp, gently prodding them on the side whilst pointing at the shadow.
"Hey, you think that's a digimon?" He asked, squinting his eyes to try and make out the figure in the distance. I mean, it would make sense for it to be a digimon right? From where they were standing at least the shape looked tall. Not impossibly tall for a human, but it was certainly taller than the average. However Dio shook his head, and spoke up.
"Not sure. It kinda smells human but...there's something odd about them." The imp said, frowning a bit, unsure on what to make of this.
"Odd how? Are they dangerous?" Carlos asked, a hint of concern in his tone. His partner simply shrugged as a response, he simply didn't have enough info to give a better answer yet. Without more knowledge on what was out there, that only left them with two options: either hide and wait for them to wander off, or confront them head on. For now however, he simply sat back and waited for the figure to do the next move. Only dependeng on what they (or it) did afterwards would Carlos settle on a plan or what to do...

"Kan I'm sensing about two hundred total fragments spread out in this city. But they're slowly condensing towards a central point, if we head there we can get most of them in one swoop. It won't be easy cause the amount of data is massive and you'll have to be in the form that needs it."
"Didn't you just say you couldn't get a read on them?"
"I asked Kryptmon for some advice."
"Smart idea, he is pretty clever."
The human let out a soft sigh and slowly trudged further down the street. He wasn't aware of the two further back the street nor was he aware that the silvermon spirit had to unseal the mega tier spirit in exchange for the information. With an equally soft sigh the ultimate spirit shifted in the mindscape before glancing around; taking note of where kan was going and how he was going to go about it.
Elsewhere something else malicious and cruel stirred. Kryptmon whom had been sealed away for what felt like six or so months now finnally had the opportunity to stretch his legs. The corrupted spirit didn't mind being sealed away; in fact it helped his state quite a bit as he was worried personally about how quickly his own data was sloughing away. He hoped that kan would take the steps needed to purify the lesser spirits before getting to him.
"A foolish boy, but alas. His deals and treads are different now. Our original deal is void... Hmm. So I suppose that means I am the servant and he is the master now? Sounds about right; not a foolish thing to go against the will of it. Without him I don't have any power anyways. Tch. Holding out on me before not realizing he had a Royal flush when all I had was a pair..."
The spirit snorted and gingerly slipped out of the man's shadow as he trudged further and further away from the two. The mega level had sensed the others approach far sooner than the others but made no mention of them as that wasn't part of the question that the Silvermon had posed. If they wanted to know about those around them however the spirit would of told them without hesitation.
Cruising along for a little bit the spirit got close enough to hear the exchange between the two. They thought it's master was a digimon did they? That the human might of been weird? That it was odd? Dangerous even? With a marvelous chuckle the spirit slowly inched up the wall nearest the two and slowly phased out of the wall firmly in view of the two. Putrid shadows dripped off of it's form and condensed with those of natural coming. Dio would likely get an overwhelming stench of Decay, rotting and death from this creature. But there was no ill will in it's pose, no desire to fight. In fact there was a gentle flicker to remind it of the fact it was merely a spirit.
"Observing my master are we? He won't bite, his pack is viscous certainly but we're a friendly lot."
The spirit took in the two for a few moments, sniffing at the air and raising it's eyebrows as though it was impressed. If the pair didn't move too much it'd slowly circle them tail shifting and curling here or there. One digit slowly would drag itself along the top of either of their heads, though no physical touch would come from it the sensation wouldn't be pleasant if they allowed such a thing to go near them. Either way it wouldn't stop what happened next.
"A little lordling and a master of the digivice I take it? Tch Tch... perhaps little is too derogitive. I sense a prime somewhere deep. You were one of them weren't you? But you're not anymore hmm? Powerful yet; But you seemed to stumble on something greater while..."
The demonic spirit turned it's head towards carlos, looking him over and tilting it's head a bit. It'd slowly squat down, inspecting the tamer for an uncomfortable slot of time.
"You. You have potential; but you have a teacher don't you? A willing partaker in the light rather than dark. My master has tread both of those worlds and found himself craving the light instead. He seeks data fragments of a spirit nearly destroyed of it's on volition. Help him and a teacher of the digital realm and human one will be available to you. Or don't. It's your choice Lordlings."

As they gazed at the figure in the distance, Carlos was eventually able to make out more and more details from it: for one it seemed to be carrying a backpack, its contents were obviously unknown to them but the man seemed to have prepared in advance for the journey, which was more than what could be said about the duo. Additionally they seemed to be completely on their own, so they were either a partner less digimon (not impossible judging by how tall they seemed to be) or perhaps a spirit user? It was hard to tell from this distance.
However they weren’t in the clear yet, as Dio could feel something else from the figure. Almost like…a stench not too dissimilar from rot and decay, something definitely not human about them…something vaguely familiar. But as much as he tried he couldn’t really place said smell.
Just as he was about to say something he froze, his body tensing. Carlos, noticing this sudden change shot a side glance at his partner. “What is it-”
“Shh.” The imp was quick to silence the man, never taking his eyes from the figure. There was no visible change on the individual in the distance…but the stench however, it felt as if….no, it was getting closer. In fact, it felt as if whatever was making said smell had suddenly closed in the distance in a split second.
Before Dio was even able to warn his tamer his suspicions turned out to be true, as he noticed a rather ominous shadow forming on the wall next to them, in plain view of the two. Needless to say this was enough to make both human and partner take a quick step (more like a small jump really) backwards, Dio’s hands lighting up with energy (fire in one, ice on the other) as he positioned himself in front of the human, his defiant gaze trying to mask his sheer worry.
From the shadow soon emerged a most ghastly looking figure, a tall dark bipedal creature slowly approached the two. Dio wasted no time, chucking both a fire ball and a chunk of ice in the shadowy creature’s direction. This proved to be useless, as the attacks harmlessly went through the skeletal reptile as if its body was made of smoke. Intangible.
The two partners froze however, when the tall shadow began…talking to them, its calm and somewhat soothing voice making a rather off putting contrast against his grim look. Apparently it worked for the figure in the distance. Well, the digimon’s behavior seemed to fit that of a spirit, so that person was most likely a human, if Carlos understood how Spirits worked in here. While it didn’t seem to have ill intentions in mind, his treatment of the two was…off putting to say the least, circling the nervous duo not unlike a hungry predator.
As if to add insult to injury it reached forth, his ghostly pointer finger not so much tapping their heads as much as going right through them, sending a chilling cold through both partners bodies. It felt as if someone had dunked them with a bucket full of ice…except that ice had somehow gotten inside of their bodies.
This, coupled with his odd choice of words was enough to make Dio snap out of it, fear momentarily replaced with anger.
“Who the hell are you calling a lordling, ghost? That’s some big talk from someone without a body!” He snapped, indignant over what he perceived as a very roundabout way of calling him short…along with everything else really. Carlos simply stood silent, both out of small fear and respect for the creature. After all, if it had wanted to attack them it would have done so already.
However, the words uttered by the ominous apparition were quick to send a cold shiver down Dio’s back. “One of them”? So this creature knew of his Demon Lord heritage? That was definitely not a good thing. Before he could even stammer back a reply the creature turned his attention to Carlos, offering the two the option to help out the Kryptmon’s master.
“What would this teacher teach me in exchange though? And if we were to refuse then what?” He asked, somewhat hesitantly. While this didn’t seem like that great of an idea…it didn’t seem like a bad one either. Another teacher in the human world…what could that possibly entail?

Oh how it was to see these two react to him; it had been far too long since the spirit had any proper interaction with humans or digimon. Most of the time he was just fighting or dealing with kan; whom as of late had been increasingly... Pure. The spirit let out a soft sigh at the impmon's fireball and chunk of ice passed through it's form harmlessly. If anything the only way that the imp could damage him is if he attacked where his 'core' truly lay and that was far from him at this point.
The reaction from his touch was something that the spirit snickered at softly; it's actions and interactions with the two of them likely would make it hard for them to forget this.. foray. The brows of the mega tier spirit rose a little bit however when the imp directed it's anger and frustration at being unable to actually do anything to the spirit.. immediately anyways.
"Exactly who you think. Not really big talk for a spirit; just precise and to the point."
The spirit shrugged and those cold, lifeless eyes stared at the impmon. He knew of the touch of those things; he knew how strong they were and when they came about again even without the power of the demonlords in their data it always left beings changed for better or worse.
"I wouldn't know what he'd teach you, or how he'd go about it. But consider the fact he's been doing this business for a decade and then some. His experience would help out what looks to me as someone that could need it. Were you to refuse?"
The spirit considered this fact for a few moments and then shrugged turning his attention to the form that was considered his 'host' as it was.
"Nothing. Spirits on their own cannot act, merely a suggestion more than anything. No ones forcing you to learn from someone else; even if he's not a teacher to you he could easily be an ally. Something to consider but if you find it wanting that's fine."
