The time was early morning in Shibuya. Households around the city had just begun waking from their sleep as the sun began to rise over the urban metropolis. People of all kinds began readying themselves for their jobs, giving their goodbyes and farewell as they made their way toward the subways. Kaguyi's house was no different.
Kaguyi quickly snapped from his bed, covered in a cold sweat. It had been that nightmare again; the one where a creature he couldn't recognize knocked him into some sort of hole. He'd been having this nightmare for as long as he could remember, occurring usually once every two or three weeks. After bracing himself, he would stand up, yawning and stretching in his new pajamas.
Suddenly, a knock rings through his home. Soon after, the door opened to the outside. He presumed his mother had opened the door while making her morning coffee. Almost as quickly as the presence arrived, it gave its adieu, leaving before kaguyi even had the chance to see who they were.
After a few minutes of the standard kitchen noises, Kaguyi's mother quietly opened the door, carrying a package in her hand. It was small, no bigger than a box you would put a wedding ring in. Seeing he was awake, she came to him to discuss its contents.
"Good morning, sweetie!" she would say in a bubbly tone.
"Good morning, Mom," Kaguyi would groan in response.
"The school sent a package to you. They didn't really say what was in it, but they acted like only you needed to have it. Here." As she finished, she handed Kaguyi the small box. She then followed by giving him a kiss on the forehead before leaving the room to finish her early morning duties.
