While eating and conversation with Owen and his son Logan had been, dare he say, fun, it couldn't go on forever. In the middle of one of their conversations Coela had reluctantly interrupted them to inform them that he was gonna have to close down shop early, the reason being he was short on supplies for several items and he needed to restock before he opened up the next day.
Hearing this had concerned Caligo, the old fish was one of the few people he'd actually grown close to in the city, perhaps even to the point of family. Sure, the old fish could likely handle getting the items he needed on his own, but the impmon would be damned if something happened to the old fish because no one was helping him. After a short argument with the old fish that ended in him reluctantly accepting Caligo's help, the Impmon had then turned to Owen and Logan and asked if they would want to join them, to which they agreed. Once Coela had locked up, the four of them were off towards a street market Coela frequently went to to restock.
"Come now lad, I gotta pay ye back in some way, ye deserve something for helping this ol sea dog." The Coelamon insisted as they continued down the street, one that while a bit more crowded the streets near Coela's restaurant, was nothing compared to the main party areas.
Caligo gave a snort and waved his hand about. "It's fine, I don't need any sort of repayment, as long as you can keep your restraunt open we'll be even."
Grumbling under his breath, the Coelamon then looked to Owen and Logan. "Since this Bilge Rat won't take any sort of payment, would thar be any way for me to repay ye and you're lad Owen?"

Owen and Logan were enjoying the conversation they were having with Caligo. While the two of them were more used to talking with digimon who had human partners, well, it was nice to speak to one who had a similar background to Owen, in the sense that neither of them were linked to humans and controlled their own destiny. Not to say that Logan had any problem with this, he accepted that he was a partner to a human, but, it was nice to see another digimon like his dad.
Eventually their conversation and time in the restaurant had to come to an end, which Owen understood. "Of course. Thanks very much for the meal by the way, that was fantastic" he complimented Coelamon, and was sure to leave a decent tip along with payment of the meal.
However, the Gaomon picked up that not all was right here, especially when Caligo and Coelamon made a brief argument about whether or not he needed assistance to get ingredients. This made him and Logan look on with near identical looks of worried concern. In the end, since they had been given such a delightful meal and good company in Caligo, they agreed to accompany them to get ingredients. However, this still kept Owen ill at ease. Coelamon should probably hire some staff to help him if this was the case. Yes it may be a risky investment, but, one single digimon might not be able to run everything right.
As they proceeded to the market, Coelamon seemed keen to recompense them for their efforts. Initially Owen was of the same opinion as Caligo, this was simply returning the favour of a good meal, but, after a glance from Logan to indicate that might not be the best way to approach this, instead Owen chose a different approach.
"Well..." the Gaomon began. "Logan and I are happy to help you out this one day, and in exchange we'd be delighted to just chalk this one down as a favor, but, don't you think it might be better for you in the long run if you hire a digimon or two to help you out every day?" he asked, curiously.
They shortly entered the Whitewater marketplace. This was a bustling area of activity. Sprawled over the central square of the tropical city were rows and columns of market stalls, each with a fascinating assortment of wares. Owen supposed that their main destination was the seafood area, which of course, was the closest stall to the beach. They made their way in that direction.

Caligo couldn't help but glance between Owen and Coela, remaining silent after Owen brought up the idea that he hire some employees to ease the fish's workload. Sure, Caligo had thought to himself from time to time that Coela should hire on some other people to help with the restaurant. He never brought it up though, felt like he was trying to tell the old fish how to run his restaurant. Besides, if the fish was confident he could run the place on his own, he'd trust that he could, after all, even in his advanced age Coela was still quite capable of doing things on his own.
As he was thinking this Coela waved off Owen's suggestion. "Ahhh nonsense lad, I've been running that place solo for a decade now, ever since me wife's passing. Besides, it's a family business, it's tradition that we only have family working there, and I intend to stick to that tradition." Coming to a stop and looking around, Coela nodded his head and turned to Caligo. "Lad, ye mind going to get a palette? Can't miss em, they're large slabs a' wood with wheels on the bottom o' them. I'll take a rest here on one of the benches, make sure Owen and his lad don't go and get lost."
Rolling his eyes, Caligo gave a wave as he headed out to look for the palettes. "Yeah, sure thing, don't fall asleep on that bench before I get back."
As he walked away Coela couldn't help but give a snort in amusement, muttering a "smart ass" under his breath that only Owen could hear. The fish turned and walked over to a bench under one of the palm trees lining the walkway, taking a seat. "Owen, would ye and yer lad take a seat please? The old man needs to tell ye somethin." He asked, waving to the empty spot to his left. His tone calm, serious, tired. It lacked any of the earlier humor.
Once they took a seat the Coelamon leaned back and let out a sigh. "Look, the real reason I don't have any other employees is because, well, me restaurant was suppose to be closed by now. Ye see, I've run the place for several decades lads, just me, me wife, and several of me children. However, when Rosa passed it hit everyone hard. Over the last decade the kids all left, they all said it was to move on with their lives, but I know them well enough to know that wasn't true. It simply hurt them all too much to have their mum gone, and I couldn't blame them for wantin to leave. There are so many memories in that building, it can be too much at times. about two months ago I had decided to close down the place. My family was gone, so I didn't have much of a reason to stay."
The only fish chuckled and a small smile formed on his 'lips', a look of fondness in his eyes. "Imagine my surprise when two weeks later I find the little imp slumped up against the wall of me restaurant, all battered and bruised. Brought him inside, treated his wounds, let him stay a few days to get better." He then looked over at Owen, locking eyes with him. "I've only known him for several weeks, but the lad has grown on me, to the point I'd say he's like a son. And since no one else is gonna watch out for im, I gotta. I need to be around so I can worry about him. I need to be here so he has someone to come to when he's at his lowest. For his sake I haven't closed the place down, and I'm staying in Whitewater. Long as he's here, so am I, once he leaves, I leave."
As he finished explaining Caligo returned, digivolved into his Devimon form and dragging a Palette behind him. "Right, I'm back, I miss anything?"
Hoping off the bench, Coela walked up to him and slapped his leg. "Nah lad, just telling em about the good ol days, now, lets get movin."
Hearing him mention that they talked about 'the good ol days' made Caligo cringe, giving Owen a sympathetic look. "Yeesh, now I'm glad I went sent to get the palette."
"Oh shut yer gob you bilge rat." That only made the Devimon laugh, the two of them heading for the fish section, assuming the other two followed.

Owen immediately felt sympathy when Coela mentioned his wife's passing. "Oh... gosh I'm so sorry to hear that" he said immediately. In a moment, he imagined what it would be like if somehow he had lost his own partner, Hikaru, then realized in a rush that this was something that the fish digimon had actually gone through.
Still though, the talk of only family running it, was that a healthy way to run things? Owen didn't voice his thoughts though, given he was still in a state of mind where he didn't want to remind Coelamon of the pain of losing a loved one, especially since he had just met him.
Then, Coelamon sent Caligo off for a moment. Owen and Logan remained politely silent, figuring out that this was a difficult situation. So neither of them wanted to put in any kind of interference until they knew the full story. The Gaomon and Offmon took their seats as invited, then listened to what he had to say.
And the story told was that it was done for the sake of family. That since his wife had passed, his children had all moved on, leaving only himself to run things. Owen sighed as he felt empathy to this position. If something tragic had happened in his life, he would at least want the security of things to continue going on as they were for security, but... still... deep down, expecting things to continue as they were when something so impactful as the death of both a loved one and a business partner had happened, well, that was another matter.
But the tale transformed when Caligo entered into it. But it seemed to make the tale so much more tragic. If Owen didn't know better, it seemed like Coelamon was using Caligo as a substitute for his lost family. But, yet, Owen couldn't see anything bad about this.
Yet, Logan immediately spoke up. "That's absolutely fine I think" the Offmon said. "If he makes you happy and you make him happy, that's a good relationship".
Owen was a little startled at hearing this expressed like that, but, supposed that the simplicity just made it obvious to his son while it evaded the adult mind. But still, he had to make one interjection.
"As long as you're honest with each other, well, yeah, there's nothing wrong with that" he agreed. He hoped that nothing deceptive was involved in this family relationship, but didn't expect it was, since both Coelamon and Caligo seemed to be good digimon.
As Caligo returned, Owen and Logan kept being good natured. "Ah don't worry, let's keep on getting ingredients" Owen said. "I've been hearing that the prawns are good around here, maybe we could find some of those?" he suggested.
